pull-down notification / pin # - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(asking for boss, sorry can't find in searches!!)
When he pulls down on the notification, it is constantly asking for his pin code. This normal in the Nexus 7 (stock) ?

Did he set a passcode to unlock the screen?

yup, thought that would be lock screen only - not any time he pulls down on a notification..?

It will do both else you could use the pull down to unlock the device and bypass the security.
It also keeps those without the pin from being able to see his email.

Ah, I didn't know that (I don't use it myself). I would have thought it was just when you turned on your device on your lockscreen - not just pulling down notifications when device already unlocked! Thanks!

I just set a pin code on mine to test this. I previously had it set to None. After setting the pin code, I open the lock screen with the code and am never asked for the pin code when I pull down the notification bar. Something else must be going on, but I don't know what. Does anyone else have to enter a pin code to pull down the notification bar?

Is there a quick lock?

hi. is there a way to quickly password lock the phone? anyone know? lets say im using the phone somewhere where dont feel secure, fear of it be stolen... can I password lock it quickly with a shortcut/ hardware button?k thanx
Anyone please?
Has anyone idea how this can be done? there must be away to activate the password lock immedieately?
I know you can set the password to 5minutes, but normal circumstances it would be annoying to always keep entering the pin. I wonder there must be a way to activate the password/pin lock immmeadiately to prevent unauthorised use (ie if phone gets stolen).
Dont know if this is what you mean. But try S2U2 it has a password lock that can be set to lock immedieately.
there is a program specifically for that called SmartPhoneTracker. i think some of the newer updates introduce an autolock feature...
check it out...
You could program the End Key to lock the device - in Settings, choose Long Press End Key and set it to Lock Device. Then when you press & hold the End (hang up) key, it locks.
Any good to you?

Pin lockscreen?

Just as the title states...
Anybody out there know of a PIN number lock screen or PIN lock app for our Eris phones?
In the latest Handcent 3.1 app ... they have added this feature to SMS/MMS for protection... And I FREAKIN LOVE IT!
Would love to see this security for everyday use for unlocking...
Anyone can walk up and "slide" open my phone at will... which sux!
Not sure if it is available in Sense based ROMs/Leaks, but CELB has the option to turn on a PIN lock in Settings -> Location and Security -> Enable PIN lock. I haven't used it so I don't know much about it.
Alternately, I know Sense/leaks have the unlock pattern option, located in the same place, it will keep people out too.
The PIN setting in CELB 2.7 isnt really a PIN unlock. It is the same dots/circles as the pattern unlock, only instead of dragging over the dots, you just punch it in like a pin would be. I guess it is actually added protection since people wont be able to guess patterns like they would with numbers.

[Q] Enter password to unlock

I lost the status bar on my Nook Color and I found this thread. Buuut now I tried this and it asks me for a password which I have not set as far as I know. Any ideas? Thanks
For those who have the status bar force close error upon every boot, it's a simple fix but sadly not much talked about.
Simply enable the android unlock feature. Basically right now it is set up to skip the unlock feature when the screen wakes up, making you slide your finger to unlock it. In the tweak settings you can enable it again and voila fixed the problem

[Q] Has anyone figured out a way to...

... use the swipe unlock WITH a pattern or pin after the swipe?
Settings. Lockscreen. Set secured lock device to a longer time and you will get swipe after first pattern unlock. Mine is set to 5 min.
maybe i'm just doing it wrong. but its not working how i mentioned in the OP.. i'm saying i want to use swipe unlock and directly after that pattern, or pin or password will pop up.. my friends note 2 has a check box that says "With Swipe Lock".. wth would samsung take this out? ridiculous..

Got it. Not sure but possibly removed since were dealing with 4.22 multiple lockscreens rather than just one, previous to the s4

Require pin to sign in after certain amount of time of inactivity

Is there a way I can set this? Like if I don't use my phone for an hour require a pin to unlock it instead of a fingerprint.
Hola
Simple I think. 2 areas you need to configure:
1. Settings -> Display -> Sleep
2. Settings -> Security -> Screen lock -> Automatic lock

Unless ZTE changed the lockscreen behavior from Marshmallow, the fingerprint scanner will always unlock the device. If you can disable the fingerprint scanner temporarily, I can work something out for you using Tasker. On the lock screen, look for the padlock logo (it might be a fingerprint) at the bottom center of the screen. Either tap it, or press and hold. You may or may not see a message appear (see the attached screenshot). Try to unlock the phone with your fingerprint and let me know if you're forced to type in the PIN.
Apps designated as Device Administrators are supposed to have the ability to lock the device and disable the fingerprint scanner. Nova Launcher, Secure Settings, and Tasker all have Device Administrator supported lock commands. On stock Android, this would disable the fingerprint scanner and require the PIN to be entered. On B29, I found that ZTE removed this behavior and gave the fingerprint scanner absolute authority to unlock the device. If this is still the case, I never figured out a way to completely lock the device.
FWIW I was forced to enter a password today, fingerprint did not work. I did not knowingly reboot. I too find this behavior very disturbing. I do not memorize my passwords as the are robust (long) my finger should suffice in all circumstances IMHO. I am wondering if I could get any kind of an answer from customer service at Axon....
