I know its coming, I will just sit here and wait for ubuntu roms for this phone.
Zedomax did made a port of Ubuntu to our nexus s you can check it out on YouTube
I'll wait with you mate..

Just checking in/getting in line. Saw a demo at Engadget and the OS looks really promising. Hope a dev can optimize it for the NS.
Waiting
I just hope they can get it working for the NS4G. I might waiver an upgrade for that one.
Very interested in this as well. Looking forward to giving it a run.

+1 on that might be nice for a an alternative to play with for a while.

I hope that they will get it to work, but i think we might have good chances to see a rom since you can use the Android drivers (thats what i've read). So lets hope

I think there's a good chance NS will get ubuntu, but my question is how will it run? Most likely I'll have my N4 well before we ever see an ubuntu rom for NS4G, especially. I think sprint is going to put canonical through the ringer when it comes to getting binaries integrated, and it may never happen, because sprint doesn't want us flashing our cdma device. They are perfectly happy having us stay at ota firmware for the life of the device, whether it's activated or not. Google has a hard enough time getting sprint to release timely updates, and android DOMINATES the smartphone market. Ubuntu is really going to be a crapshot with cdma, methinks
Honestly, my opinion is to get a GSM nexus device if you want ubuntu for phone and you don't already own one....otherwise you may never see a build. Not one that actually utilizes the binaries to get a functioning phone and mobile data, at least
I think I should add that I would love to run ubuntu on any/every device I can get my hands on. I'm admittedly and openly an android fanboy...I know it....but ubuntu for phone could just bea the firmware os that makes me ditch android!! The thought of all my devices, including my PC all being able to sync every single app and piece of data is enough to make this uber-nerd's knees buckle. I recently switched to ubuntu full time. I don't even have a windows 7 partition on my pc anymore, and I haven't used windows 7 for more than 5 minutes on someone else's desktop in the ~4 months since I switched. It's been the best few months of my computer-related life!! I'm actually learning how to use a computer, rather than letting the computer use me lol
looks promising... I wish this os will make battery phones much longer than android
Ubuntu.
I think they are talking about this ubuntu youtube.com/watch?v=sLtcj7FdIYA
I think I should mention the following, since it relates to whether Nexus S will get ubuntu or not.....

What we have:
It requires an arm cortex-9 cpu.....nexus s runs arm cortex-8. looks like once again, Nexus S will be getting the shaft. Get used to it, though.....it's not going to get any better for us. Nexus S is a dead device.....people don't give a rat's ass about us anymore, it seems It's amazing to me that the N1 got such a long life of support. They got every single android version up until ICS launched.....but as soon as Nexus S falls two generations behind it gets dropped like a bad habit. You know what NS got??? About 15 GB updates, one ICS, and it barely even made it to JB by the skin of its teeth. Google didn't even comment on whether we'd be getting it or not until the last second because they didn't want to give it to us at all.
It just seems to me like all any manufacturer cares about anymore is making people buy new devices. No companies give the slightest crap about what the customer wants anymore, and it's just sad. There's absolutely no reason NS4G couldn't have at least gotten 4.2 just to keep it up to par with the gsm NS, at least.
I do not want to be a retrograde, but I think the smartphone market is faster than our money. The phones go on and you have not even finished paying for your new mobile phone that is already the most powerful. We are the victims of war competition with people who do not care about the customers. Android then lately is worse off. Mobile phones are more powerful then use that usually makes an average consumer. To run the most used applications do not need 2 gb of ram and quadcore processors. This is not to say that I do not attract smartphones like the Nexus 4 ...
I could be wrong, but I think Ubuntu os will run on Nexus s as it spins in a good Android 4.2.1 and thanks to XDA developers and Cyanogenmod.
Cannonical website do say that it's develloped for dual-core devices.... our phone having outdated (compared to minimal specs) single core processors, I fear we'll never have a trully good experience...
if you remember well, someone ported ICS on nexus 1.
it was not fast or smooth, but they done it.
I'll hope that someone could make the same "miracle" with ubuntu.
Maybe it will bot be a daily-use ROM, but, at least, we could try it.

Dual core is just for the "good" devices single core arm 9 is the lowest specs a phone should have! But maybe someone will get it working on our arm 8!
Even a port would be great! I'd love to try it out

There comes a point in time when a manufacture has to move on. Nexus S with 4.2 is slow as hell and laggy and trips over its own feet most of the time. 4.1.2 was pretty much the same story. Most were surprised it even got Jellybean in the first place as we were calling this phone slow and outdated on ICS. It's two years old.. In technology that equals about 20 years. I'm nearing the end of my two year contract on this phone and can't wait to move my phone plan off it. I honestly never use it except for a phone anymore as my Nexus 7 is my work horse. The only way to enjoy this handset is get something light like RasBean and don't load it up with persistant apps.. CM 10.1 is complete joke on it and I honestly think they're wasting their resources developing for this phone still. Just my opinion.
It's a legendary device and labored on far longer in active development than it should have.

then you need to check your settings, tweaks, kernel, etc. I'm getting amazing performance from 4.2!! ICS was a little slow, but 4.1 jb fixed all of that. I had some problems with vanilla, untouched aosp but when I started tweaking it and got a good solid kernel installed, everything was as it should be. If it can be done with roms, kernels and tweaks available to me on this website, it should be able to be done by the aosp team.....i'm just saying....

So, I have an opportunity through work to upgrade to any phone of my choice on Sprint (had blackberry). I have VZW currently with a 2.2 rooted fascinate on a month to month contract. What I am thinking is turning off my VZW line and just using my work phone until something changes. Sadly the Evo 3D won't be out soon enough for me to wait or get a phone now and exchange when it comes, otherwise, that would be my obvious choice. So my choices will be an EVO (which is almost a year old) or the about to be released Nexus S. Neither is really compelling to me knowing all the dual core goodness coming out soon. However, just don't have a choice. So, while I know there might be some biased with this being the Evo thread, sound off on your thoughts of my choices. I do like the nexus for a lot of reasons, but no expandable memory is killing me. Can't decide. Thoughts??? Go...(and thanks)

I would personally go with the evo because you have the option of it being sense or aosp.... plus aosp has made major improvements lately with hdmi and 4g both working and if all fails you can always revert back to sense. Gingerbread with sense for the evo was leaked earlier this week also. But I hate samsung phones, always get the phone with screen issues,lol.... waiting on the evo 3d this summer....
you go with the nexus or wait till the 3d, id wait but if you have to go now, go nexus bc its faster

depends on what you want/ expect. evo is going to be the phone with the better community and devs, also expandable memory, htc build quality is superior and if there was a leaked 2.3 rom it means there will be an official ota update which means sprint is still supporting the phone.
obviously a nexus phone is going to have full support but you will have limits when it comes to devs but, why need devs when every google update is live within a week or 2
Tough choice but i love my evo 4.3 inch screen and the 1ghz of speed but the nexus is newer. In my opinion Htc Evo is a great phone and you should go with that one. I know the battery not great but there are many roms that you can flash that have great battery life on stock battery so that not a big issue and more and you can buy an extended battery if you want also. I dont believe you can root the nexus so you have to wait for that and if the battery is not great on the nexus then its a problem. So i would go with the evo if i were you.
Go with the nexus.love my evo,but the nexus is a more powerful phone.

Nexus S. I love my Evo but the Nexus S is more powerful. Better build quality too.
the only advantage phone vs phone for the evo is the .8 inches bigger on the screen, it loses in every other category
Get a Echo...there's two screens. So it's like having an Evo and a Nexus at the same time. Cuz theres two screen ya know. j/k But I would still choose EVO man. The devs kick ass and its still going to be a strong community. Plus I just love Sense. lol

Nexus S has a really powerful GPU that puts it nearly on par with even the Tegra 2. It will be able to play all/most games through this year. The display is also better and only slightly smaller - making it, IMO, a more comfortable carrying size. It also comes with much more internal storage for apps and 16GB ain't bad at all for overall storage.
People talk about the EVO having more development but the Nexus line are almost always the phones that third party app developers use to develop apps. On top of that, the EVO has a bunch of gutter ROMs - same old slightly modified stock ROMs. The Nexus S has official support from the, IMO, big three: CM, MIUI, and Google.
Plus you are pretty much guaranteed fully working up to date Android updates. The EVOs life will almost certainly end at a "might as well be Froyo" Gingerbread Sense ROM. From that point on, if you want to keep up to date with the EVO, its all unofficial and buggy custom ROMs.
If you want a phone with worse specs and that will soon feel old and unsupported, get the EVO. If you want to see what Android is about, get the most open and supported phone, the Nexus S.

You pretty much echoed my internal sentiments. I had a Moto droid and had to switch to another phone and was able to get fascinate for free. The support has been nonexistent for this phone and while I know some devs have been toiling away on it and doing an incredible job with what they are having to Frankenstein together, the rom of froyo I have on this is still very buggy at best. So I have experienced both worlds, stock android Vs themed android with a hope of updates (I know very well about unsopported phones..Lol). While I don't dispute evo is a fantastic phone and have been tempted to give sense a whirl (touchwiz is the suck, put launcher pro on this on day one) I think the nexus might be the way for me. Also, I can get a new phone from VZW at any time I choose by just adding line back onto my plan if I see something that really catches my eye, but no need to pay when work will pay for my plan through sprint.
Appreciate the well thought out reply confirming what I had already been leaning toward.
Cheers.

Nexus S. Don't buy a phone that is already a 1+ year old (evo). Even though nexus is missing some stuff (sd card/etc..), the cpu/gpu/screen is more up to date with technology.
Keep your verizon line...get the nexus and tell them you'll activate it yourself but don't take it out of the box. When the 3d comes along, sell your (mint condition) nexus s and put the money towards an evo 3d.

Well what can I say, I bought the Vibrant last year in June, and it has been the worst phone I have ever owned......... After four replacements and constant lags, freezes, reboots, battery pulls, GPS working only 20% of the time, poor updates, sucky support from samsung (who I will never buy a product from again) I am finally moving on. I picked up a Sensation yesterday.
Not one lag or freeze and the gps works every time......whoooohoooooo
since I got it......this thing is fast and the signal strength is unbelievable. At my home I had to go outside to get 3G with the vibrant and this one gets 4G everywhere.
The rest will have to be determined.
It is my firm belief and opinion that Samsung built a dud with the galaxy class phones because of all the mods they did for the companies involved; Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon, etc. and stopped supporting these phones to cut their losses that they would incur if they kept supporting them.
I am off to the Sensation board and I bid you fair well.
Lol seems like your the only one with these problems only thing i can agree about is the GPS. I was going to get a sensation but I like having 16gb internal memory. And a 8GB SD that's just me though. Good luck on the sensation if your selling your vibrant ill buy it for 100

4 replacements?! most times you get a replacement you only need one, i have never needed any replacing of any of my phones unless you count physically twisting the piece of **** in half. 4 replacements is out of this world, YOU are doing something wrong and bricking your phone. Learn how to read better, and you wont have that problem. You bought it last year in June so it's already a year old, Ofcourse your new phone is going to have better reception and technology, your phone was ancient the day you bought it.

It is my firm belief you have no idea what you are talking about.
out the possible 100% you could have, 75% are totally happy with the SGS and have no issues. 20% are just absoloute morons who have no idea what they are doing and bricking there phones from rushing through or not reading. and there is 5% that are just unlucky and receive a phone that was destined for failure right from the factory.
Now we could count you in the 5% but seeing as youve broken 4 of your phones then your out of that category. Samsung has built an AMAZING phone with an AMAZING community behind it backing it up. Just because your another one of the clowns who cant pay attention to what your doing doesn't mean you need to make a thread starting s**t. Good, leave, dont let the door hit your ass on the way out. But a new phone isn't gonna help if your braindead, you'll just brick that one too.
I am fairly sure that a very few amount of people actually have your problems, and most are content with the Vibrant. So you basically created this thread to rub it in our faces that you got a better phone? Great, but you'll be regretting it when the Hercules kicks the Sensation's ass. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Oh, and enjoy your Sensation once it bites the dust due to HTC's terrible quality control.

OP - you should post this in the Sensation forums.
That place is flooded with people *****ing about the Sensation.

I'm fairly certain you won't be missed. Have you contributed anything to the community? Not that I have, but then again, I'm not going to make a childish farewell bragging on my new purchase.
It's not that the sensation is out of any of our reach, most of us could buy one right now. We CHOOSE not to.

Had to post this xD
You must've had an extra early model since the Vibrant came out in July...if I remember correctly.
LoL learn to use your phone.
another case of user error :/...the vibrant is a phone for smart people, people who want to learn and read, this thing is almost unbrickable!! amazing screen, best single core GPU, 16gb of memory, I can keep going but I dont have enough time
Sense sucks and the screen (you know, that thing you stare at constantly) on the Vibrant is wayyyy better in a side-by-side comparison.
What if people like OP (four phone returns, really?) are the reason we don't have GB yet....
I own both and screen in sensation sucks it is washed out bleak, poor angles you cant see anything when outside
the size of the phones is same but sensation feels heavy in my pocket and vibrant is like piece of paper. 4" and 4.3" are almost same. I love vibrant

OP sounds fat.
I bet I am not the only one feeling like this is the end of the line for my EVO.
I got MikG 2.1 on my phone and it is basically running as good as the hardware will let the EVO run. What now? I have been flashing OSs since the Blackberry days and I feel a big let down. I don;t see me going to the EVO 3D as it would not really improve my EVO experience all that much. I use my phone for business and personal stuff and it is doing a very good job.
What now???
I would go for the Galaxy S II when it comes out, or something else, since good things are coming.
The Galaxy SII looks good but I have not had very good luck with Samsung phones. SMH
As crazy as it might sound, I would consider going back to a Blackberry if they came out with a 4" plus screen. Like a Storm4. Crazy right? LOL
I feel the same way, on MikG 2.1 as well. The phone is just working too well to mess with! Can't complain about that. Don't worry though, just like with the hero ROMs and improvements will keep coming. The EVO is just in a weird place because handsets are more powerful now, it is a year old, and still keeps up rather than being totally outdated.

Very weird; I had to use my sister's Blackberry when my first Evo went missing, then got a replacement; I hated it, little keyboard, had to go all backways just to get something simple, like an alarm, and had to use the calendar to have more than one.
Personally, I would recommend you at least try the Galaxy S II; I've had good experiences with Samsung products [for what its worth], the phone will be a powerhouse, and if you don't like it, can always return it within the 30 days.

I still have my evo. I'm currently stripping it down to barebones and using my tablet for everything else. I was working on an updated gingerbread rom but those plans have changed now. The evo is still a great device as a phone and as a smartphone. It's just a shame people jumped ship just to have the latest and greatest. I simply just added what I wanted which was the htc evo view tablet.
I would go to a Sprint store or Radio shack and play with the Evo 3D. I thought i wouldn't like it after seeing all the negative reviews, but when I played with it in person, I was really impressed. Just seemed way better than I thought, and I even dig the 3D now.
I just posted my Evo on Craigslist a few minutes ago. If I get a buyer, I'll go get the 3D. Thought about waiting for the GS2, but not really a fan of Samsung phones...and the development community the 3D seems to be building up outweighs the specs for me.

Yeah some of the devs have moved onto the 3D, but this phone is far from dead. Let the excitement die down a bit and you will have plently of roms to flash in the future.

That's sidestepping the question though. He didn't ask what the difference was. He asked what could it do the Evo couldn't? Having a longer battery life is certainly nice, though. But as of right now, I can't see the dual core and ram being useful... maybe in six months?

Must of misread the question. The dual core plus more ram will be a huge factor on how much faster roms will run once these devs get root access. It will totally blow the Evo out of the water in that aspect for sure.

Lol no I've had a g2x dual core overclocked to 1.5ghz
Then moved to Sprint .. got the EVO 4G..
Now I have the EVO 3d.. even with "development" nothing will be much faster
We need ice cream to utilize the dual core/adreno220 chip set...
As for more RAM.... Hardly I'm at 122-200 mbs free... That means over 70% is being used for sense 3.0 and OS...
Honestly I'm selling my EVO 3d for a EVO 4g and a laptop in two days.... Don't bother with this 3vo as they call it... It honestly isn't much of an improvement
The only thing I can seeing it be good with is a stock aosp ROM like miui or cm

I am beginning to think the same way. I would not watch 3D movies on my EVO or take 3D videos. As tot he dual processor, what exactly will that do for me? Get my emails faster? Dial out faster? Surf the internet faster? Not unless we get steady 4G speeds or even really good 3G speeds. On wifi my EVO flies and does pretty good when I get good 3G service. So I am not sure what I would gain. I know when I went from Storm1 to Storm2 it was supposed to be such a big improvement but I did not see that much. I like Sense so I am not sure if I would go to Samsung but never know. I think I would switch more for longer battery life if a phone came out with that kind of technology. But, I don't see how these faster processors are going to help with that.

Honestly not sure if its the phone or the OS Im tired of. Have been using my G2 for over a year, been using Android for the same amount of time (G2 was my first Android device). Lately I haven't been interested in trying any ROMs, none have really peaked my interest to be honest due to the little issues in them. Not sure what I should do from here......
End of small rant.
Anyone else feel the same way or am I alone?
I still love the phone but I am definitely getting a little bored with it. Same as with most things. After so long of use, it feels like it is time for something new.
I use MIUI and it seems the fastest and smoothest to me (probably as good as you can get on the hardware), so getting bored I try other ROMs but they aren't as smooth so I go back to MIUI. I think ICS might spice things up for a little while l, but I think an upgrade might help.

It's called "consumerism". Just use your DZ till it dies of a natural death >.>
i wasn't bored of it, i was simply tired of the lag, missed messages and genrally just the lack of RAM.
i took the plunge and moved to the desire HD (couldnt afford anything newer)
and i notice the difference in ram immediately, there are LOADS more apps open at once now, and everything just generally feels snappier. and even with all my apps open i have 100mb+ ram left, constantly,
it's a shame that the DZ didnt have more ram, because otherwise i think i could've stuck with it for so much longer.

Damnit I thanked instead of quoting at first. Oh well.
It's "piqued," FYI.
I still use mine all the time. I have ICS on it. And with supercharger it's plenty fast. And I can text sweet things to my gf much easier and quicker using the keyboard. That being said get a hercules and rock both.

What's with all of these posts really...If you're "tired" of the phone go buy another one and use this as a backup. A lot of people do it lately.
Sure - I would be happy to buy a new phone, just as soon as you can invent a phone that has the G2's reliability, developer support, style, at least as good of a real keyboard, display quality, and make sure it works with T-mobile so I can have unlimited everything, including wifi hotspot, free tethering and free wifi calling, and no overage charges possible for only $60/month no-contract!
Yeah, that's what I thought, the G2 has no upgrade that can be made, because it is the best phone/carrier combo out there!
But I do wish there was a magical way to have the reception in rural area and LTE deep building penetration that I envy on Verizon (but I don't envy paying nearly $200/month for the features listed above!)
Still love my phone since the day I got it. Reliable and tough, stylish and sleek. I do look forward to an upgrade, but it's not something that i'm set my heart to. Can't really beat the DZ =)
Can someone just lock this post? It's so silly to post stuff like this.
If you're tired of it, then get a new phone.
g2 has been an awesome phone especially for my first Android phone but I can't wait for the next g series or maybe I'll try out the gnex. Contracts not up till October so hopefully there'll be something cool out then
After a year of using something u naturally get bored of it but if ur that boored of it try getting a mytouch4gslide

Not bored,
I recently tried a few things to give my G2 a different look and feel. Here's what I have:
meXdroidMod Atomic ROM -- been using meXdroidMod for awhile now
GO Launcher EX ICS theme -- cool screen transitions, my favorite is sphere
GO Locker -- ICS style, and I don't have date and time showing
GO SMS Pro -- I have had this for awhile
GO Weather -- besides HD video background, I like the Temperature Trend among some of the other features
With a couple of apps and also creating shortcuts to access them easily and quickly, i find my G2 very useful and not boring. Now if only I had a bigger screen...
I never understood this emotion where people get bored of things and feel the need to get the newest stuff. To me, the G2 is a solid device and the only time I would ever think of changing is out of necessity: not so much boredom. If I needed a faster GPU or a larger screen or better speakers and so forth: I can definitely understand the decision then because you have a practical purpose for the future device. But to be bored of a device and wanting to upgrade for no other reason because of it is exactly what companies want you to do. convolution put it best, "consumerism", but I would also add the word "affluence" as well.

Lol you must be delusional. This is a great phone, but as soon as I find a nexus s I'm going back. Not only is the phone faster in both the CPU and gpu department, the wolfson sound chip is a god send for music lovers (the g2 can't power my 120$ Sony earbuds and as a result aren't as loud/bass cuts out at low frequencies) , you can't beat the samoled screen (after a little tweaking with voodoo colors it gives a better pq than my 40" ex400) and to top it off ics is smooth as a gyroscope. I can't tell a difference scrolling around home screens and menus compared to my buddies gnex. Dev support is off the charts. IMO the nexus s is the device to have over a gnex or gs2.

truth, it must be quoted. I've yet to see a newer phone with all the qualities I want in a phone. I'm extremely lucky that I got this phone with my family's contract, I had no idea of the developer support behind it when I did choose it.
G2 is my first android device too. And also one year I have been using it. I love my G2 just because it my "first time". I've tried almost every Rom from xda. And now using sense 3.5. But, frankly speaking, I'm considering t buy a new better one.

Wow, that audio chip intrigues me. I primarily use my phone as a music player at the gym and I like my music loud. However I get distortion when I try to adjust the frequencies past a certain point. Is this Wolfson chip a solution?
Its been a great phone and it was my first android phone. I loved it so much and is still loving it. But despite all my support to android. I have realized in the last two years that due to many OEMs and multi rage of android phones. The vendors are unable to update them regularly. Each OEM is just busy making new phones and they never focus on timely updates and keep the devices deprived from their functionality.
In the past I was not too supportive to most custom rom devs but it was only because of the stability issues. But now i have realized that it was they who actually did their best to make the devices as updated as possible.

WOW man, note 1 is this a very good and powerfull phone, with the hardware it has it should las 2-3 year at least.... look at the galaxy s 1 that still has support for new rom's .... so If this one stop receiving support is that most devs will pass to a new phone, but that doesn't mean the end ... :victory:

Well, that's true, with a few minor modifications. The S1 isn't using an Exynos 4 SoC, but a Hummingbird (Exynos 3) which is a friendlier SoC to work with (that I've read at least), so the S1 developers haven't had the hair pulling experience with that one, like the devs have had here. The Note is still powerful for what it is, but that doesn't mean squat when it's not even possible to get everything working right. The Note is a dog with two broken legs. It walks, but it can't run like it should do.
I'm leaving the Note on Monday for the Z Ultra (yey!), and it'll be exciting to have a brand new, just released device again! So see you, suckaz! Okay, I'm joking. I'll still hang around here for a little while.

Well eaven if all devs move to other phones we still have the guys from CM, Slimbean, HellyBean and others like them who do not develop for the note just because they have the phone, they usually buy new phones but keep older ones for development aswell, so Note users are safe, it's one of the best dual-core around
I wonder if this guy is really this braindead or if it is just another google translate fail. Shall we vote?

its not dead it will reach end of support from Sammy. Its the lifecycle of phones, every quarter new gimmick, to sustain that pace, support lifecycles are shortened.
Yes the product will run for a couple of years longer. Which is why opening it up for communities from the start to carry the estafette past company support is vital. lol.
glad CM is making moves to do just that
I love this Note (thx Asylum) and could happily go another year on it.
Having said that, I need to go back to the HD2 days since I last had a 'top spec' phone, and the Note 3 is looking mighty tasty...

Oneupmanship
that's all it really boils down to one Oneupmanship, In my eyes there is not a phone to top the galaxy Note 1... it run just the way it was designed when new, you can change the rom's easy, loads of software, great people here who can help when in trouble... what more can one ask.
If you want speed then don't install crap filled with bloat wear,READ what is the best Rom's to use & I mean READ.
Just because your friends are getting the all dancing and singing new phone as seen on TV, don't mean you need the same one...
THINK for your self....... its still a PHONE in the end.:fingers-crossed:

Ya ur right crying because this phone deserved really more. Ensing it at this phase with a laggy stock rom will not be a justice to it. It can go a long way, but without official support it will slowly die. So its good to cry for what u love. I am not a new texh geek like u. I have been using this device for the last 2 years and like my older devices i have emotional stuff with it. So even if i switched, it will be with me

Im gonna stay with the note 1. I dont game on the phone, i have an xbox for that. All the apps i use still work fine, while i understand the temptation of a new shiny phone... that feeling usually only lasts a couple months and at the end my mobile daily habbits and productivity would stay unchanged.

I work in a phone shop and I can state personally that the Note 1 is still a decent phone. I say that using CM10.2 which really gets the most out of it but the latest TW Rom's aren't bad either.
Feature wise the Note does the main things that everything else does to a good level, not like a Galaxy Ace. If you got the new Note everything is a little bit faster and better, but apart from the IR blaster (small addition) there isn't many outstanding new features that differentiate it from its original - for example something like a built in projector

Speed is open to interpretation. On paper the S600 on the HTC one or S4 in the shop are probably 4x faster (benchmarks) but in reality outside of gaming they load Facebook in 0.5 second compared to the Note's 2 second. No one is going to die because of that 1.5 seconds. Other apps on the Note load in near identical times so it's all down to whether you want the new technology rather than 'need'
