Hi, don't quite understand the logic behind this, but Nexus4 comes with Video Editor, Nexus 7 doesn't
Have tried copying the APK and ODEX file from one device to the other and setting the permissions - does not work.
Have tried running a deodex thing, that pulls the framework and files and rebuilds it to a full apk - Does not work.
Is there any other way?
Thanks
EDIT: Got it working, and will happily edit videos on my Nexus7 that were taken on my Nexus4...
Attached APK is anyone wants it. Copy it to /SYSTEM/APP (using something like ES File Explorer) and set the permissions to rw-r--r--
It's from Android 4.2.1, so currently as new as it gets...
the video editor comes with the nexus 7 on aosp, and aosp based roms.

lol, i dont know, youre probably right. the 2 minutes i was on stock didnt give me a chance to fully check it out. the irony here is that i delete the video editor apk from /system/app/ after every flash
One mans treasure is another mans trash......cant say I wouldnt delete it as well.
But thanks for the effort just the same.

Hey!
I can't stand the keyboard with the stock ROM so would like to replace it with the Xperia one from my Xperia P (ICS) which I think is almost perfect.
So I copied the (textinput-tng) apk from my phone over to the N7 and installed it, and all looks well; can configure the keyboard, etc.
Problem is, every time the keyboard tries to start up, it FC's
Does anyone know of any hack that'll get the keyboard working, or is it some unreconcilable differences between ICS and JB (or maybe some Sony propriety code)?
Cheers!
n.b. N7 is unlocked, rooted, on stock ROM with Clemsyn's elite kernel.

Installed the app via the apk so didn't think I'd have to change the permissions, but when I checked the file in data/app, the permissions were the same as the other files -wr-r--r--

Hello There
I am really sorry if this has been answered before.
I used to have CM10 on my nexus but i went back to stock because I did not like how many of the apps because "incompatible" or saying my device was not qualified to run this app but it was when it was stock Nexus 4.
Anyways, do I just copy the build prop from a stock rom and use it with CM10 or is there just a few lines to modify in the build prop when CM10 is flashed. Any info was definitely be appreciated. THANKS!
You shouldn't have to modify the build prop on the cm rom you flash cause it comes with it already setup. What are you trying to modify?

Sorry, just as an example, I can use Hulu Plus with the stock rom, but when I use CM10 its not "compatible" and will not play.

Thats because root is detected. No build.prop edits will fix that.

Not the issue because I am currently rooted with stock rom and I can still watch hulu plus.

Is there any way to get the cyanogenmod camera without installing the rom? Like I have pa3 and I love this rom and don't wanna switch over to cm just for the camera, so is there like an apk file or zip file to install and use the cm camera on pa3?
Thanks!
Just extract the camera apk from the cm rom and flash it..

You can't flash a apk file. You install it from the phone not in recovery mode.

I didn't mean flash the apk, I meant zip it into the appropriate folders and flash it.

There's no zipping and flashing. You push the apk to system/app/, set permissions and reboot.

Idk how to do any of that :/ what should the camera apk be called? How do I set permissions? Will it still work after I update my rom or flash gapps?

I tried that, couldn't find an answer, so then I posted this thread. Like I found gallery2.apk, went to install it and it didn't install. Then I didn't know what to do after that so I gave up

Giving up won't get you anywhere.
Using a root file explorer, go to system/app/, mount as r/w, and copy that gallery apk to the directory. Set permissions to be the same as the other apk's in the directory. Reboot.

Depends on the file explorer. Usually, long press the apk after copying it, select permissions or similar. They'll need to be set as rw-r--r--.
Searching the cm thread just yielded great results for me by the way.

I think so, I long pressed and tapped on permissions, I got a 3x3 grid and then looked at other apps in the folder, the grids looked the same. I even went into cwm and did the fix permissions thing there also. And ya I tried that, didn't work

I did that, set permissions to r/w and my old bootanimation is still showing. Suggestions? First time doing this so I am sure it's my fault.

Make sure you delete the old one and then replace it ,maybe that helps. If it doesn't I don't know what the problem is. I'm quite a noob

Deleted old one from System/Media and put this one in there. Still didn't work. Is it working for everyone else?
EDIT: The Images in the folder are JPEG, my understanding is that bootanimation require PNG type... please someone let me know if I am wrong on this.
EDIT: Got it working... for some reason my permissions weren't sticking... switched to a new explorer app and it works now. Looks great OP.

The images are jpeg. Maybe it depends on which ROM you are using. I'm using Liquidsmooth. I did use jpeg because the file is much smaller. When i'm using PNG the bootanimation gets over 40mb's

It's working fine here. Thank you OP I'm loving it. All you guys have to do is copy and paste this new boot animation into system/media using a ROOT file explorer. It will than ask you if you want to overwrite the current one. Click yes. Then long press and hit "properties." Then change permissions to rw-r--r

Its really not hard. you just delete the orginal bootanimation in system/media folder via explorer which comes with CM11. and then past it there and change permissions to R/W ticked on O in properities. thats it just 30 secs.
Great, really really great i think i will stick with this one... Gonna check if there's a way to add sound to the animation, i think i saw (heard, to be exact) it in the past already
