Anyone else have a crappy keyboard mouse pad after Jellybean? Scrolling pages is a nightmare, is there any fix for this? I am stock, not rooted.
To scroll i have to scroll down, and let fingers of the toucpad, then it scrolls, but if i scroll with fingers on, it will not scroll
Is this just my keyboard, or is it the same on yours?

The multi touch two finger scroll works as it should. im on clean rom 3.0.4 but the touchpad cuts out when moving my finger across it on rare occasions. overall it works pretty well but not as good as a standard laptop imho.

Mine was as good as a laptop-mouse before jellybean, hope there will be a fix for this. Normally i use a wireless mouse, but i would like it to be fixed anyway

well apparently i just havent been using mine enough. today i have been using it non stop and the confounded touchpad is annoying as all get out. The clicker buttons always work and the multi touch scroll seems to work but then sort of catches or hangs on the page and then you have to swipe again getting a less than satisfactory movement. then to compound this annoying trait the blasted cursor will as i said before just at times stop or hang when first trying to swipe. i also hope for a fix on the driver of this touchpad
I have always hated the touchpad. It is far too sensitive and far too easy to accidentally trigger (thus sending the mouse pointer to some random area of the screen). When doing real work on my tablet I inevitable disable to touchpad and plug in a real mouse. I use the laptop to remote into a Window 7 machine at work where I'm a system administrator. Accidentally deleting the wrong account or OU because of an inadvertent touch-pad blip would be a really big problem!
Is there any way to flag this problem to asus?
I tested a transformer prime w/docking today, and that mouse act as a normal laptop mouse

every now and then the touch pad start to run like crazy between the menus like he is stuck on down or up.....
I've got the same problem. Sometimes it gets stuck and keeps scrolling down.
I predicted this would be broke first
Now, I just disabled the touchpad function because I didn't really like the function anyway. Now I cant just navigate by clicking the ring around it and using the touchpad as a "ok" button. Which feels more stable
.....
i've disabled it too ...i had no other choice.. so what is it? hardware or software problem....its driving me crasy...i've done HR twice!! and its still happens....
same problem here and i have disabled the touchpad also.
i think it's a little scratch on the touchpad itself which is causing a problem on the optical sensor. maybe it's only because of some dust.
.....
so its just us having this problem?
I have same problem too and notice that there are a lot of dust on the touch pad and do some cleaning, it has been back to normal.
i'm having the same problem too. i'll give it a clean and see if that sorts it.
Hey guys, it's been a while since you added to this thread, but I now have the same problem. What did you do exactly to clean the touchpad? Just the top bit or also underneath? How did you get there? What did you clean it with? And finally, did it help?
Whenever I try to start/respond to a sms, it takes about 10 tries of me tapping on the textbox at the bottom of the screen for it to recognize I'm tapping it and to make the keyboard come up.
My buddy, who will use my phone, can do it almost every time though... I'm coming from an iPhone so I'm used to touchscreens. I've tried with/without my nail, using my entire THUMB, using just the tip of my thumb.
I dunno what to do... Any ideas? Thanks
I noticed that this will happen to me on occasion. In my experience with it, if I tap towards the top of the box it will work the first time, but if I tap towards the lower bottom then it doesn't work so often.
actually, this used to happen to me alot.
then I noticed that every time i was trying to touch the text box, my thumb, or another finger from my other hand, was also touching the screen.
And since the stock keyboard doesn't have a detected multi-touch input, when there are two touched, the input value is returned as null.
So, once i figured that out, i never had a problem. But, there has also been complaints about the touch screen calibration being off, so...you can never know unless you mess around
Ill give those tips a shot! Maybe adding the multi touch hack will help too...
It also helps if you don't just tap really quick, but press it instead(well not really press, but leave your thumb or finger on it for a second).
I'm sure there are weird calibration issues near the bottoms of our screens. When I first got the phone, I really thought it was broken or there was a huge bug trying to get the virtual keyboard to come up while writing SMSes. Like david said, try touching a little higher than where the text box is to bring up the VK. Usually, I aim at the top border of the box. Now I rarely have to touch more than once to bring it up, but it's still an issue that should be addressed by HTC (or maybe Google).

This is exactly what I determined. My keyboard pops up every time when press near the top of the input box.
Is this a hardware issue - or something a future update is able to correct?
You can long-press the "Menu" softkey to open the keyboard at (almost) any time.
When this happens to me i just push in the trackball and the keyboard pops up.

I also noticed if you get a lot of texts or have a lot of texts the problem gets worse.
Hello!
I have been having a small issue with the touchscreen. This all started when I noticed I could type faster on my iPod touch than I can on my Incredible (no, not another Apple fanboy lol). So I started to look into what was causing this. Quite quickly I noticed that some keyboard presses did not register, but I saw the icon pop up (to show which key I was pressing)! This only happened if I typed fast... so then I started to look deeper into why the icon popped up but it didn't type the key. I figured out that if you touch two points too quickly, the screen registers it as a "drag" event. As a side note, I've been using Smart Keyboard Pro for it's multitouch capability. I've tested this by tapping twice quickly in Swype, and sure enough, it drew a line between two keys.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Thanks,
x.v_
I made a video to demonstrate what I'm talking about!

it has nothing to do with multitouch. do the same thing but hold a finger on a and a finger on l at the same time, then let go of a and the same thing happens. you're just touching it fast enough that that's how it's registering. it's not the screen, it's the apps. swype isn't multitouch so that's what happens when you try.

...I didn't say it had to do with multitouch? It is a global problem, not just apparent in some apps. This seems to be a bug in how the phone handles two points being touched too quickly. This should not happen.

Lo,
not sure if it's just me and coming from my Hero, but I do have issues at times with the screen getting to recognise my finger presses. This can be in games to apps; I generally find that a firm press works but surely this should be needed.
Can anyone else confirm whether they have the same or whether mines gone a bit dodgy?

Yeah,,i'm the same when trying to select tabs on dolphin hd. It was a pain trying to play fruit ninja too.
Mine did seem super sensitive at first too and noticed like others that if you held your finger really close,b ut not touching, the screen still recognised the touch.
I hope then this isnt something that worsens overtime - I'll wait and see.
Thanks
I'm curious about this now because at first I also noticed it would respond if my finger was very close but still above the screen. I don't know if I've gotten used to that now or if it's actually changed. There has been two software updates so it's possible they tweaked a setting. Despite not noticing the hovering touch any more the screen is still far more responsive than my Milestone.
With the last 2 updates, they did change the screen sensitivity.
Could one of you undo the updates or hard reset, and see if it is sensitive again? That way, we know it's just software and tweakable.
I can't because I do not have my phone yet. Lol... (actually that isn't funny)..
My phone has had all the updates done and I find my screen sensitivity to sensitive. But then again I have come from a Touch Pro 2 where it wasn't the best anyway.
No problems here. Search for multitouch test on the market for some objective testing. (You can also see with this app that HTC solved the weird multitouch problem that previous devices had.)
From my testing, it seems to react better to a greater surface area contact; the tip of my finger barely triggers it, but if I use the full end of my finger it seems fine.
Bit odd and annoying
Mine's *too* sensitive.

I would call the HTC helpdesk and ask for a pick-up repairment or go back to the store and swap it for another one.
I've had the A100 about a month or so now, replaced an A500. I've recently noticed the touches I use to navigate not working like they did on the A500 or even the same as when I first got the A100. Sometimes when typing it'll triple press a key. Othertimes I can't put in the pattern to unlock it. It's as if I had a cloth on my finger, but I don't.
I've found it seems to be worse when I'm not holding the tablet, ie I just have it lying flat and the only contact is the finger I touch with. It seems if I "ground" myself to the tablet by having it in my hand the touches work fine. Any idea what's up?
I've just noticed it being super sensitive compared to the A500. But not like that. I've doubletapped often due to just barely grazing the screen.

Assuming you're running 3.2, go into Settings, Screen and adjust the Touch Sensitivity to see if it helps.
Good Luck.
I've never noticed anything like that, so you sure you dont have a defective unit?

I have the A100 with os 3.2 and in settings, Screen there is no tab for Sensitivity.
I have been try to adjust the touch screen but see nothing to do that.

Sorry about that. I have the A500, not A100 and was working with the idea that the settings would be the same on both devices since they are essentially extremely similar in build.
I've never had sensitivity issues, but as of 3.2 I do have a Touch Sensitivity setting under Screen; I figured Acer put it there in 3.2 on the A100 for issues that are similar to yours and that's why it also made it to 3.2 on the A500, just in case the issue popped up on them at some point as well.
This could be an ESD issue as well, though I've never come across a case where it's this consistent.
Maybe you'll get it in an update or patch at some point, though that doesn't help you now
It's weird, like I said, if I'm "grounded" to the unit's case it seems to work fine. I don't know how capacitive screens work so maybe the calluses on my fingers or something mess it up. Now that I've learned how to work around it it doesn't bother me.
I've had my A100 about a month and went crazy trying to type. This may sound goofy but I swear the right side of the screen the keys have to be touched on the left side. And too, my 3.2 does not have a setting for screen sensitivity. I have a 7 year old Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard that really comes in handy when I need to type a lot.
