Hello,
some time ago, I got this device Coby Kyros MID 7034 - 4 (7 inch) Tablet with Android.
with a broken Screen (LCD + Digitizer)

I´ve ordered both parts as replacement from China, today they arrived. After connecting them I found out, that the digitizer seems not to react.
The LCD was OK.
I tried to connect the old digitizer to the new LCD and it did react somehow (I could press one button but that´s it)
Now my question is what should I do now? The problem is I didn´t attached the digitizer to the LCD becaue I am not sure now. (once glued nobody can separate it)
1.) Does a capacitive digitizer work when it is NOT attached to a LCD?
----> If not: this will be the problem and I will try again and come back later, but I don´t know this for sure right now if it have to be attached or not
If Yes:
2.) If the "standalone" digitizer should be able to work, is there any kind of "emergency mode" or diagnostic/test mode which allows to read the system info. (for example if the system recognizes the digitizer and so on)
I only got this (while pressing Power ON + Volume down). with the new LCD

Thank everybody for help. And sorry for my english.

No solutions for this problem?
The problem is I can operate only the keys the touchscreen is dead.
So I search a way to enter some sort of "diagnostic mode" to find out if the digitizer is compatible or not.
The digitizer looks the same as the original (number of pins is the same too) but unfortunately its not DPT and the part number is not the same.
I can upload a photo of the new digitizer later. Its one from "Hotatouch"
I would really appreciate any advice.
Maybe its the wrong category I am writing in?
7034 screen
Hello,
Did you ever find out how to fix your 7034? My screen is also broke, and I cannot find where to purchase just the screen, Coby wants me to send in the whole unit for $50, but I'm sure the screen is a lot less expensive. Where did you find the replacement screen, and were you able to figure it out?
Thanks!

unfortunately there is no specific link. It was the result of my research and contacting some sellers in china.
By the way, I didn´t use the parts for the replacement, so if anybody wants them, just write me a message.
Hi, this is the resistive one?

Hi
I have a Qtek 9000 and recently I broked the display. As I had the service manual I thought I coud replace the display by myself. I bought a new LCD + touch screen on ebay and the replacing of the LCD was easy and went quite well. The lcd works fine but the touch screen don't. I cheked and clean all the contacts but couldn't make the touch screen work.
So I wrote de seller and we agree to send back de display and receive a new one that he will test bofore posting.
I placed this new display and the problem remais the same. The lcd works fine but the touch screen don't, so I think the problem could not be here.
I made a hard reset and even downgraded to the original ROM but the touch screen still not working.
Can anyone help me with this
Thanks
Have you tried the touchscreen side of things before re-asembling the casing?
I have had problems with the seal on the casing around the screen activating the touch screen permanently - so that it runs really slow (if at all) when using the keypad.
damn, did you get the touch screen to work at all?
which LCD + touch did you buy from ebay? hopefully we can avoid this seller and get something that works.
ever thought of buying the touch screen separately and putting that on?
Let us know how it goes.
whitemoo.
after disasembling/asembling device had the same ussie with touch, after a cup of hours using it.
armandoramos try to open, when UNI works, only a part of UNI with LCD(look page 21 in service manual-bottom picture, page 22 & page 23-middle picture),then try how works your touch. If it works-you just had pinch the LCD coaxial cable module.
i had a problem with my touch screen, i was lucky enough to find a second hand uni in a local market with a busted lcd but working TS.
i swopped over the TS and re-assembled my uni, one thing i did have to add was a tiny piece of foam between the ribbon cable assembly and the case, this was to push the two ribbon cable sections (TS and LCD) together, for a better connection, relying on the sticky bits alone was not enough.
hope this helps.
Guys,
My partner just closed my phone in her car boot. It works fine which is good however, half the screen is cracked and dead not good. Will it be chaeper to find a replacement screen, by another Trinity or move to something new.
Where could I by a new screen?
I appricated your comments.
Rich
think i have answered my own question...
http://cnn.cn/shop/p3600dopod-d810-screen-p-1734.html?osCsid=d538dc0645483ca7551cfc78c4c9fab2
anyone now anywhere in the uk?
do I need special tools to fit this?
Hello just for information,
I broke my trinity screen and I baught a new screen to a HK seller and i replace it.
I had already flash the firmware (faman 3.6 full) before changing the screen.
So everything seems ok when I put the phone power on but As soon as I put the creen off, I am unable to put it on it appears every time in a complete white screen !!!! to have something on the screen I have to reboot the phone.
I just reflash the phone again with faman 3.6 and it's still the thame problem completly white after turn the screen off then on ...
I try also an official orange WM5 (gps active) and the screen work's well i try after to switch again in WM6 and it doest work :white screen again ...
Can every one help me ?
@ Rich: Check the 'How to dissamble the Trinity' thread. Are your sure that the LCD is broken ? Could also be just the digitizer (USD 8 at cnn.cn.shop).
If you succeed to dissamble the display you should be able to attach a new digitizer.
The only problem are the two black levers ... (one for the display cable, one for the digitizer).
Good luck
Christian
I cracked my Trinity screen with a bad golf swing. Then I bought a replacement screen on ebay, found a disasembly guide, took my trinity apart, replaced the screen, put everything back together, and it works fine! cost me 70 EUR to fix it.
do it following the disassembly guide - taking the trinity apart is rather complicated, you will not figure it out by yourself.
Sometimes I wonder what the engineers drink before designing such complex assemblies!
Yesterdag I repaired a HD2 from a client.
His HD2 was one month before repaired by HTC because the motherboard was getting to hot and begun a rebootcycle. So HTC replaced the motherboard (i think)
One week ago, my client sat on the side of his HD2 and the LCD cracked (not the glass). No warranty anymore via HTC so he came to me.
So I was going to open the HD2 and I saw many faults during earlier repair (see the attachment).
I replaced the whole LCM, (i've done this repair for like a million times) and tested the LCM and it was working fine.
But when I placed the housing back, the backlight of the screen stops working after pressing to hard on the housing. I think some connections on the motherboard ain't working right. Maybe a short circuit?
Anybody knows what this problem can be?
Again, without the housing, the LCM module is working fine, no backlight problems.
Attachment (very important!):
See the bad report about earlier HTC repairment here:
http://www.touchfix.nl/reparaties/Reparatie HD2 HT033NW05788 27-02-2011.pdf
Nobody that has this problem before?
I'd say check for any loose connections 1st. If the housing itself is causing the backlight function to stop, it could be something more internal with the LCD/digitizer.
I'd say the digitizer must be replaced as a (whole unit together -LCD and digitizer together) as it looks to be damaged based on your point that the back-light does not work or stops functioning when pressure is applied.
By the way how did you repair those brass clips that were bent? Can one find replacements?
Look forward to your reply..
Good luck

Yes I replaced the whole LCD and digitizer, its called the LCM (see my first post).
But a strange thing is, that if I press on the battery cover (with some pressure)
it will turn sometimes on..
Any ideas?
Hi guys, i followed all the indictaions on the official videos but i think i broke something! I had an HTC hd2 with a broken digitilizer but the screen worked fine. I bought a screen+digitilzer combo and replaced it but it didnt work.
The screen does not show anything (black screen) but the backlight of it is on!
I tought maybe was a problem of that lcd so i tested the original screen (that was working) and it does the same.
What could be the problem??
Please i need help
come onn, anyone ?
please guys, anyone ??
Sounds like a defective lcd to me. I'd try an RMA asap on getting another unit before your DOA warranty (if the lcd has one) runs out.
it's not the LCD. I had a working LCD but a defective digitizer, i bought the lcd+digitizer replacement and now both screens do the same , just the backlight is on. And before i change the screens the original lcd was working fine.
Could it be because the LCD is not correctly pasted into the chassis ? i really don't know what could it be the problem. The lcd is correctly connected to the mainboard. What could i broke in the process?
Thanks connexion2005 for the help anyways, is nice to see someone finally answered hehe!

If you were not really gental with the internal parts of the phone, more presisly the ribbons that connect each part to the main board you could have cause micro cracks in the copper strips of the ribbons. Look at the closely with a magnifying. glass if possible.
today i was able to sync it literally with no idea of what i was touching. I also figured that the digitizer works , i was able it dial some numbers. The phone appears to work.
So, Backlight is on, Touch (digitizer) also works, but not showing anything on the LCD.
Could it be a mainboard problem ?? I'm trying to use logic because i don't know anything about cellphones and how do they work in terms of components.
Could it be the ribbon ? I dont think so, i have two screens and both of them do the same (backlight on but not showing anything).
I'm clueless!
Don`t panic. Calm down, watch a demolution tuturial. You probably miss smt. Good luck
But it could be a ribbon...
Hello,
I have dropped my Jiayu and the front panel is broken, the touchscreen is not responding, but I don't see that the screen is damaged. I've plugged the mouse via OTG cable and I could use the phone in this way.
So my question is could I just replace the digitizer and the front panel, or do I need to replace the whole screen? (where front panel and digitizer is included of course)?
I don't even know if replacing the digitizer is possible due to the fact that it is glued to the screen.
display and digitizer are one part!
But there is a possibility to buy just digitizer.

I have successfully replaced displays on 3 S3 already, it's fairly easy,. Replacing the digitizer only might be possible if you have the right (semiprofessional) equipment, but I doubt you will succeed. Try it if you feel sure... I would not.

I was in the same situation with my Jiayu S3 two months ago, I bought the digitizer (I month wait until it arrived from china aliexpress ) and brought it to two local mobile repair shops...
Neither of them would change the digitizer...both said they could change the whole screen part only as the digitizer is very difficult to change and you need special machines to do it....now im waiting for the whole screen part to arrive...(another month )
So your best bet is to buy the whole screen and change it yourself or in a techie shop...or look for another phone if the 50$ price of the screen doesn't convince you...
Good luck
Will this work? My LCD is broken and the touch is not responding.
