After searching around for the best deals online and in stores, i've been able to find the Note 10.1 16GB for £318 on amazon. I know this is a fairly good price compared to most other places, but has anyone for anywhere to get one cheaper, or had any success negotiating with staff to get freebies or money off? I was looking at Nexus 10 but i was put off because I think ill need an SD card for extra memory at some point soon, and the colours are meant to be less deep and less vibrant.
If anyone can offer some input on prices or any reason not to get the Note 10.1 then please help me out before i spend my xmas money.
English Pounds prices and possible links to websites if you great guys can ;D Thanks

Tesco are also selling them for £318 at the moment, you can walk in store and pick one up.

If you buy before newyear... £50 cashback makes it £268
I think samsung are planning to release a new tablet, there seems to be alot of offers on the tab 2 10 inch and 7 inch and the Note 10.1 on the offical samsung website, like trade your old phone in and get moeny off. I could trade in my old Xperia X10 and get £100 off a Note 10.1 for it which is alot in relation the the device. I didnt know there was a £50 cash back offer on, im real tempted by that so thankyou. I have a big tescos in my town so i might go there to see if they have any but i doubt they will :S If they do I will buy one soon I think ;D
EDIT: If i bought one now, i would have to wait 15 days to claim and by that time the promotion would have run out I think at least
I have just done my claim. If you look carefully at the terms, you need to purchase by end of 31st Dec and you can claim up until Feb 2013.

Go for it! I You can still buy until the end of the year to get cash back. I presume they have the 2 week waiting period in case you return your device to the rteiler. (yeah like that's gonna happen ) I have mine since Saturday and I love it.
You can also get 5% cash back if you buy through Topcashback. I saw that too late.

The cash-back has been pulled by Samsung since two weeks ago .
jje
They accepted my submission this morning.
Pulled as in stopped two weeks ago no point of sale material on display and no longer on the promotions page .
Pre purchases should be accepted so if you bought before it was stopped you qualify .
The doubt will be for anyone that purchased after the promotion was closed .
Will the cash back run for purchases after the promotion was closed is unknown .
Samsung may just have stopped advertising the fact and let the promotion continue until 31-12-12 or stopped it as per the terms and conditions .
I actually have a letter from Samsung handed to me by a Samsung rep when i queried last week .
Cashback promotion ceased . But he kept saying you should be ok with your claim ??
Multiple posts on the web the last two weeks regarding this .
Confusing to say the least and i would say anyone buying now may get cashback but may not .

I tried to claim this morning (my 15 days aren't up yet, but I wanted to have a go anyway) and it just said I'm too early claim. Not that I'm not qualified. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Amazon and the other online retailers no longer have any indication but as the invoice date needs to be before 31st Dec, it is likely they have stopped advertising as they would not be able to meet that any more.
On Samsung claim site, dates / times are still clearly stated and claim indicated to be valid if invoice date is 31st Dec or earlier. Things always seem to get muddy at the enpoint of one of these campaigns (I have done two successful cashbacks with HP and seen similar confusion).
My invoice date was 11th Dec and so couldn't claim before 26th anyway. I am hopeful, but I would be happy with my Note 10.1 regardless.

I am in the same boat waiting for Jan 2 to claim .
Hopeful for all they have just stopped advertising the promotion due to the large volume of sales .

Thanks everyone, im going for a short holiday so i might end up buying the Note 10.1 soon If not I'll get one after I'm back and miss out on the £50 I guess
Got mine from PC WorId who price-matched Tesco at £318

John Lewis have them now £318.00 with 2 year warranty, Just ordered it.
Regarding cash back offer, terms and conditions state
"Qualifying Tablet purchases must be made from 00.01 on the 24th October 2012 to 23.59 on the 31st of December 2012 (inclusive). The claim window will close at 23.59 on the 28th of February 2013, all claims received after this date will be marked invalid."
So no issues on claim back if you buy before 23.59 31st December.
The standard Samsung warranty is two years as well.
Adding this code, TD-PT4M, at checkout with Tesco gets you another 3000 points, equivalent to another £30 off.
I got mine for £270 on ebay it was a shop returned unit it had been opened and returned so basically brand new. The ebayer dealt in shop returns and had 4 for sale they had 1000s of feedback had fully bench tested the items and offered a full money back guarentee. Ive had it for a couple of weeks now and its perfect. Funny enough i bought a nexus 7 for my girlfriend brand new from the carphone warehouse and it had a duff speaker.
Be very careful shopping on ebay make sure the seller has lots of positive feedback and offers a refund and you cant really go wrong. Ebay customer support are also very good if any problems arise they have refunded me out of there own pocket in the past for items not being sent by the seller.

So, from Tesco, until Monday, you can get a 16Mb WiFi Only Note 10.1 for £238 £318-£30-£50 (why buy on e-bay?)
Could anyone in the UK then explain to me why the cheapest that I can find a wiFi + 3g model is £467 (on Amazon) and Tesco list this for £498!!!!! More than twice the price of the WiFi only - effectively just for a SIM card slot! Would expect a differential of less than £50.
I live in South Africa but travel frequently to the UK where I buy most of my tech hardware - because it is cheaper. The WiFi only Note 10.1 is much more expensive here. However I was able to buy a WiFi plus 3g Note 10.1 here for just over £450 equivalent price. With two big differences :
1. It is a 32Gb model (can't even find them in the UK)
2. It came with 2Gb of data a month for 24months on one of the major 3G networks. No Contract just an up-front purchase.
To me the 3G is virtually esential. I can use it anywhere - in my car, out and about (I go to lots of places that are not coffee shops with WiFi!), I can use it to make and receive phone calls or as a live satnav when travelling. With Jellybean I have a three window setup for the car with Google Maps Navigation, handsfree Phone and my music player - all active and simultaneously visible on the big screen. Much better than three different devices.
So why is the best version of the Note 10.1 so expensive in the UK.

I feel compelled to share my experience of dealing with Expansys UK for ordering the Galaxy S2.
Its really been a very disappointing level of service, for anyone thinking of ordering from them then bare in mind that I ordered my phone on the 8th May when it was listed as in stock. A day or two later when I checked on order tracking it reported 11 days till stock. Over the course of the last 22 days their site has listed it in stock on a number of occasions and my tracked order status has changed repeatedly. Now I understand there is stock issues on the unit but be warned that Expansys 'stock' levels are misleading. I subsequently emailed them for an update which they failed to respond too, so today I called them for an update only to be told that even though I had ordered from the UK site that my order had been transferred to Australia (where I live) and that I must call that office for an update. So despite my intention of getting it early from the UK it appears Expansys is playing games with my order. I have now decided to cancel my order as I don't want to give this company my money. Let's see if Handtec can provide better customer service! Really terrible experience with dealing with Expansys, please consider carefully if intending to hand over your money to them.

i posted this here already:
i preordered from expansys uk 19 march. still waiting. they dont reply to emails. expected date on order has been jumping up and down. website has said instock 100+ a couple of times and has now for the past 2 days (very misleading since even if its a bug, surely it should be fixed by now?!?)

it is so annoying - especially with so many ohers getting theres form various places (including expansys us who are supplying polish uk models or whatever it is). i chose expansys for my preorder as id had good experiences before with devices/accessories. been very dissapointed with this purchase though. website has said 100+ instock for 3 days now
im looking to pick one up tomorrow. Whats the best website to order from for Canada???
Also, not to sound like a cheap ass but there was some discount codes to enter and i cant find them anymore.
Im just very carefull with ordering stuff online. Any help is appreciated.
We bought my wife a Desire S from Expansys last month. It arrived DOA. Instead of telling us they would take care of it, we were told to send it back to them and THEY would decide if it would be replaced or sent to HTC for repairs depending on the state of the packaging.
This makes me nervous, it sounds like they would only replace it if they could resell the defective unit. The box also contained an extra unused security seal for the packaging, which is strange. Why would HTC provide you with a way to make it appear the box had never been opened?
We decided we would be better off to deal with HTC directly rather than send it back to Expansys and have them decide what would be in our best interest. 6 weeks later and it is in for a second round of repairs and my wife has yet to have a full days use of the phone.
This is why Expansys didn't get more order a couple weeks later when the SGS II came out. I'll never buy anything from them again.
this is definitely worrying. I dont think expanys is getting my cash. The thing that bugs me the most is places saying they have stock and yet it takes a month to get your phone.
Handtec looks promising. Is this phone still selling out or can i comfortably order and the phone will be in stock ??
I ordered from Expansys Canada on Friday, and so far they haven't given me a reason to not like them. My order shipped within 8 hours of me ordering, and Fedex says it will be here by 5pm today, which I kind of doubt since the status is still at "Shipping info sent to Fedex". I ordered when there was 44 In Stock.
Funnily enough though, when I look at my order status and click on the link to look at the phone, it says it's not available anymore, but the phone is there with a different link. Just thought that was odd.
can anybody confirm handtec has stock available? I checked the website and it says yes but you can never be sure...
I ordered a while ago from Clove. The day after I ordered I noticed the site said they were out of stock. I started to cancel my order to order from Handtec and then noticed they were out of stock as well. Went back to Clove to cancel my cancel request, they asked me if my order was urgent, I told them it was and they shipped it right away.. Guess they had a few in reserve. Anyway my point is Clove has been great to me, very professional and courteous even when I was wanting to cancel my order.

I've never actually ordered from them, but every time I try to get info from them they are "not the most customer service oriented". You have to give them credit for selling to pretty much the whole world though! I'm surprised there are none in Australia yet. Taiwan's Launch date is June 1.
Just to act as a counter-weight in this thread I thought I would post my experiences with Expansys...
Pre-ordered the SGSII early and got it delivered the 5th of May. They answered all my e-mails promptly and I had no issues with payment or anything else.
Have used them a couple of times before and never had any issues then either.
I ordered one from Expansys USA on Thursday with overnight shipping and received it Friday. I paid with my Paypal account and Paypal wouldn't let me apply the coupon that is available so my charge was $25 higher than it should have been. Within 20 minutes of ordering Expansys refunded the $25 without me having to contact customer service. I was pretty impressed with their service as a first time customer.

expansysy ain that good, unless u go to their hq i believe was in manchester?
I ordered from Expansys.ca this past Tuesday night (around 11pm) and the phone was in my hands on Friday 3 days later. I had no problems with them. In fact, I gave them my wrong expiry date and someone from customer service contacted me and I was able to fix it early Wednesday morning.
Everyone will have different experiences. Especially since Expansys is worldwide. Different areas may have different issues
I can only speak from my experience with Expansys US. I had no issues what-so-ever. The communication was great, and shipping was spot on. They were everything I require in a seller. I imagine if I needed to return the device it would be the same experience.
Sent them a couple simple questions via email since ordering a SG2 on Friday. No contact since then. Horrible customer service. Sent a cancellation email for my order a couple minutes ago and I expect a full refund. I'll follow up in the morning. I understand it's a holiday weekend but this is unacceptable.
You realize their office hours are Monday-Friday 8-6pm right? Why would they respond if they are off for the weekend, especially on a holiday. You have no reason to be angry at them.
Expansys USA has been great as far as my order for the GSII went. I ordered on the 16th, shipped on the 24th and got it on 26th. No issues at all.
Contacted BestBuy today in regards to shipping the Galaxy Tab 10.1
They are not shipping the unit until the 17th, therefore I probably won't get it until the 20th or later.
I'm seriously thinking of canceling my order and just going to BestBuy to get it at my local store on the 17th. Hate to pay for shipping and get it later than expected.
are you sure it's even going to be in stores on the 17th? it is not even in the weekly ad

That is the national release date...
Since they were able to launch it at the one store in NY on the 8th, I was hoping they would have it setup so that those of us who pre-ordered would have it on the 17th. It would be a let down to see people going to Best Buy on the 17th & posting on the forums how great the device is, while those of us who pre-ordered are at home still waiting a few days for it to arrive.

Isn't that always the case for pre-ordering unless the item is hot and will sell out in stores instantly? My experience with pre-ordering is sometimes you get it early but most times you get it later than expected.

Amazon sounds like a much better deal. I would definitely go that route, but I have BestBuy gift cards tied to my order. So I will have to stick with BestBuy. Otherwise I would go through Amazon.
is it too late in the game for a pre-order?
what are my chances of strolling into a BB store on friday morning (within 10 minutes of them opening their store) and snagging a tab?
more importantly, what is BB's return policy?
I'm torn between this and the ipad2 for my dad and need to make a decision within 5 days since I have to send it overseas with a relative.
does BB charge a restocking fee for galaxy?
I already have an ipad2 so I know it's behavior.
my reason to buy the tab for my dad is so that it's easy for him to sync his media between his home and office PC's, updated gmail and youtube client, ability to play xvid and avi files and the ability to drag and drop files from ANY pc to the tablet (he's not going to go for that apple iTunes sync with 1 pc crap though there are ways around it...)
When I returned my ipad 2, they didn't give me a refund. They said that they could only give me a gift card with the amount of my purchase. The ipad 2 was also un-opened. I'm using the gift card balance to purchase the Tab 10.1

99.9-100%.
Seriously, folks. Just because you are excited about this device (as am I) doesn't mean its a line-up-at-door-at-3am blockbuster product. Demand for the 10.1 Tab will be good, but not sell-out good. The only thing that would make a retail outlet sell out would be low supply, which is unlikely since the production device went final weeks and weeks ago.
If the order status still says "In Process" by Wednesday, I will cancel & just grab one at the store on Friday.
Just ordered mine off of Amazon...$499 + $3.99 one day shipping. Best part is saving $50 on tax. I got my email receipt and it says estimated delivery is 20th but hopefully it ships on 17th, Amazon has shipped things earlier before.

I'm not as optimistic. I worry the national launch was delayed from the 8th to 17th because of supply issues. And look at the ASUS Transformer, it's still hard to find in stock over a month after launch.
Samsung is making this tablet super thin and using a new Super PLS display, manufacturing issues could be a concern.
Only way this is going to sell out is if there are like three in the store, which i think might be the case
relax folks, look what happened to launching in NY. its only one store and there still left over after 24hrs.. this is national launching and i bet you have a lot of BB around you
Yeah, I don't think this will be on high demand... There is more Honeycomb tablets to choose from.
FYI
I returned my ipad 2 at bestbuy and got my money back on my card. Full refund. They do give you a 14 day return policy, I think.

BB has a 14 day return window for in-store purchases (not sure about online purchases). No restocking fee, and really no questions asked when I returned my XOOM, waiting for the Samsung device.
I do like Amazon return policy, but really no where near as easy as driving down to BB with the device in-hand and exchanging with a human being. No return label and carrier pick-ups to deal with.

I have full faith in ordering from this company. Reason being; I ordered an ACER A500 TABLET 16GB from their site. I was skeptical, but said what the heck. I'll risk my $234.99 shipped strait to my door. This was the BEST and CHEAPEST price on the ENTIRE INTERNET after I scoured www.shopwiki.com www.aliexpress.com www.amazon.com www.ebay.com and MANNNNNYYYY other sites. I emailed the company about refund and return policies in case of DOA or other problems. I was politely informed that they have a 90 day return policy. Excellent! I was so anxious to put my order through; I never waited for a response regarding these questions. They responded promptly @10:30am on the following Monday (order placed on Saturday). Informing me I would receive a tracking # when my package shipped in 2-7 business days from UPS. I was also informed that they work with liquidations that’s why it may be delayed to ship. I said that was fine and eagerly awaited the email. I never received (to my knowledge) a tracking email. I may have missed it since I receive multiple emails an hour, and never clean my inbox. All in all, I WILL do business with them again. Soon, in fact. I will be ordering my wife a tablet as well. They are great. I was also informed that it may arrive with a scratch or two from shipping process, although there were NONE!!! The package arrived exactly 7 days from the day my card was charged (Monday). Everything worked right out of the box. There was no original packaging, which I was well aware of. One Charger, One Tablet. One ecstatic man. I am super pleased with www.pcpartsohio.com

PS: The tab came with a charger and the Tablet itself. Nothing else. BUT!~!!~~ It was shipped with NO scratches AND stock 3.0 or 3.1 I believe!! Ordered a green silicon case from amazon with screen protector for around $7.00.

I totaled the order to my door for $234.99. Best money my wife has ever spent lulz i'm in the market for buying her one soon too! Can't wait for stable ICS with full function.... *Drools*
Thank you very much for the information and reply back so soon..I have had the a500 since April since last year i pre ordered mine from BB.. EVEN thou im not a best buy fan..
again Thanks
Thats a steel of a deal right there
Erica..... In case you haven't looked all the way through the seller's site, the catch is in the shipping, see attached quote......
UPS Ground -- $35
UPS BLUE (2nd Day) Place Order by 1 PM EST -- $55
UPS Red (Overnight) Place Order by 1 PM EST -- $69
UPS 3 Day Select (shipped next business day) -- $49
My order would have come to $244.99 which is a far cry from $209. At the finished price i.e. $245 and a possible unknown time taken to ship, it doesn't honestly seem such a great deal especially as daily deals are being offered on the A500 in anticipation of the release of the Tegra 3 machines.

No problem! I love to help! Especially when it deters people from Ipad/Iphone/Ipod... not flaming them I am just pro-open source. The fact that Apple will electronically murder your phone if they find out you jailbreak..... reminds me of the southpark episode "Humancentipad"..... sorry I had to bring that up >.< so gross.... like apple... *cough*.... again this is just an opinion so nobody get disgruntled please. ^_^
Oh yeah i'm not a BB fan either except for test runs! It's awesome to have everything you can get online for half as much right at your fingertips for pre-purchase testing!

Yeah this is true that the shipping is the catch... I myself did not notice this til I was ready to check out. Just choose ground.... doesn't take long. If you are someone scouring the internet today or soon or have been and you want a good deal this is one... Again It was $199.99 when I bought a couple of weeks ago so no telling if it will drop again soon... a good site in general for random computer parts(yeah that was off topic so sue me ) But for those poor souls out there looking on Amazon or ebay because that's the only sites they know, this does help. Why pay $350 on amazon or $280+ on ebay? I know we are in a not so fluffy economy and I for one LOVE to save ten dollars... let alone a hundred... or two...
~Much love to the community.
Just ordered one for a friend. Total with plain ole ground shipping, $244.99! Thanks for the heads up.
thats a steal!!!

Great find! This is cheaper than I've been buying them off of Craig's List!
I went to buy one of these, but one the page that I was supposed to enter my credit card info, I noticed that Google Chrome says it wasn't safe.
Here is the definition they gave:
"The site uses SSL, but Google Chrome has detected either high-risk insecure content on the page or problems with the site’s certificate. Don’t enter sensitive information on this page. Invalid certificate or other serious https issues could indicate that someone is attempting to tamper with your connection to the site."
I sent their support an email. Don't think I will order from there until they explain this.
very low rating....

I'm officially calling Shenanigans on this company and anyone promoting them. Their business ratings are abysmally bad and it's clear that their site fakes customer ratings.
There's no free lunch, and I highly doubt anyone ordering one of these red herrings will receive an A500 in any kind of reasonable condition. Judging by what other customers have said about their purchases at PC Parts Unlimited, you'll get something that was used, in a flood, inoperative, and possibly stolen. Use a reputable dealer.
My dad and I just ordered a pair from here. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Got my Acer Iconia a500 from the woot website. I bought a 32gb refurbished a500 with wifi (standard with 90 day Acer warranty) and I received it in about a week and a half. It cost me 300 plus 5 dollars shipping and it has been working great so far. Love the forums by the way, very helpful (first time poster here).

Hey guys, So I went to bestbuy to look around to see whether or not the Nexus 7 32GB is available in stock anywhere since it was listed on their website, unfortunately it wasn't available there but I did own a 16GB Nexus 2013. I got it for 249.99 + TAX it was around $285.
Today I saw on the Google-Play store that they have both models in stock and its for the same price as it is in the USA and its with free shipping! (Even if its for a limited time only, still a great deal!). So I returned my previous owned Nexus 7 from bestbuy and went to future shop and got myself a price match and got it for the same price of 229.98 and it totaled up to $261. I saved up to $24 which I can use to buy a case, screen pro, etc.
So people who are looking to buy one right away, you can just go price match it until the free shipping is available and get yourself a Nexus 7 (2013) for its actual regular price!
Good-Luck shopping!

Hello, i tried it today for my 32 gb version which i got from memory express and they bluntly told me they dont price match google because its not an Canadian company. And they shooed me off. I was really dissapointed and sad and couldn't offer any proof which would help me prove that google is shipping from canada itself. Do you have any idea what i should do next ? i could really use some 10 or 15 dollars to buy a new case too.
Thank tiy

I got mine price matched at BB today, no hassles & no questions asked.
For ME, if you do add a device to cart, and click on their Devices Term of Sales, the first line says the principal place of business is in Toronto. Hopefully that will convince ME that it's being shipped from a "canadian company"
These Google Play Terms of Sale for Devices and any other terms referred to in these terms, such as terms provided in the Return Policy and Warranty Center ("Terms"), apply between you and Google Canada Corp., a Canadian corporation whose principal place of business is at 10 Dundas Street East, Suite 600, Toronto, Ontario M5B 2G9 (referred to as "Google" or "we"), when you purchase devices and/or accessories from the Google Play store ("Device").

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I'll try to go back as quick as possible and hopefully they'll give me price match. I am a college student who has to change two buses and waste 2 hours to commute back and forth from that warehouse. I hope they wont give me any more hard time regarding this.

Yes i probably can return the product to them if they give me more hard time. But i did get a good piece. o dead pixels and even gps seems alright and so is the mutitouch. Did notice some backlight bleeding but when i compared it too other nexus 7 tablets they had same problems too. So yes, if they dont price match within these 2 or 3 days i might just return it and end up ordering from google itself

Sorry for the late reply, the future shop dude asked me the same question and I told him that if it says that the price is in CA 229.98 it means its obviously coming from Canada. If they still give you a hard time, tell them to add a Nexus 7 to cart on the website and you will see before checking out that the payment is being sent to Google Canada
If anything you can return your old one and get the new one from some other shop that won't give you a hard time.
I hope you get the money bro!

thank you so much for the advice everyone ! based on the information you guys provided I wrote an email to the manager of memory express expressing how disappointed I was from this incident and also gave him links to the terms of conditions of Google play . and today morning he replied the mail saying he is sorry for the bad experience I had and that he will refund my money and all I need to is come to the store. so I did go to store today and again the customer service rep tried to be a smartass and started talking about import fees when the manager intervened and asked him to quietly price match and refund me the money since he checked everything out. so I got the price beat and the total came out to be 305 instead of the previous 319 . that's enough for a case and screen protectors from eBay .I'm so happy I came across this thread . thank you so much !!

Nice! Glad it worked out!
Hello,
Given the popularity of the mix, some sellers are using dodgy sales tactics. The latest is geekbuying and their new "stock sale" price that lets you jump the preorder list. Ibuygou claims stock ships in order of preordering, as I assume most sites do.
If you have a preorder with a store, and are waiting, please post where you ordered from, and the date of order.
If you receive your mi mix, please post what day you ordered it on, so we have an idea of their backorder "flow".
Also if you receive your mi mix, please note anything wierd about it (i.e. no case, modified rom, etc)
(Don't post the actual order number - that's not important anyway). Also, don't post from non-preorder sales, i.e. ebay.
If done right, this thread can help verify whether sellers are skipping preorders, and also help new buyers
estimate when they can get their order from various sellers.
I have two preorders,
one with geekbuying on 11/4
one with ibuygou on 10/30
Neither received yet. I'm a bit worried about the ibuygou one as they bumped up the price after I ordered, from $670 to $750.
Ordered 6/256 from https://www.cect-shop.com/en on 11/16 and received it on 11/23.
Ordered the mix 6/256gb on chinadroid.fr on 11/25 (today)
FYI, I have ordered the phone from a 3rd party and have canceled both orders.
i preordered the mi mix from cect shop the 256gb version on Nov 11th it was to ship on Nov 13.
On Nov 13 they sent a letter saying they would ship at the end of the month of Nov or early Dec when they got more stock OR they would ship it now for 929 euros.
today I emailed them saying if they were still going to ship at the end of the month as they stated and this is what they say:
"we check the market prices every day, as soon as the price drops enough we will send it out.
At the moment the phones are quiet a bit to expensive at the market, but When the price drops more like this we can send it soon. "
so i would say there is little/no chance of them honoring the price and sending it unless you fork over extra money. they are basically holding us the phones ransom

Unfortunately, ibuygou is doing the same as some other sites (like geekbuying).
My rough understanding from them is that their supplier is jacking up the price (like everyone else).
As a result they (kind of) listed the item lower than they wanted to.
So basically you have two choices:
1) Wait for the price of the phone to drop
2) Offer to pay the higher price. (talk to sales support)
It sucks. Doesn't Xiaomi have this 'flash sale' thing a lot? It feels like everyone is caught off guard this time,
possibly due to the really really reduced production rate of the MIX.
- Frank
After a long e-mail chain with ibuygou support, they noted that they don't order phones from Xiaomi.
They get them from their suppliers. And their suppliers have jacked up their prices.
If read between the lines of the mails, it comes down to this: They can't afford to stock the phone if they have to then sell the phone at a loss. (loss meaning preorder prices). I came to this realization then: As a business, it then makes more sense to just never stock the phone and tell everyone "We don't have any in stock." Because why would they? To lose money?
After some back and forth, I saw there were really only three choices:
1) Wait until the price drops and they can afford to stock the phone. (Will this ever happen? Who knows?)
2) Cancel my order and probably pay more than $750 on ebay or wherever.
3) Accept an offer to pay more - the current $750 sale price. They don't lose money. I get my phone.
I took #3. It's almost a no brainer at this point. After several days, it shipped.
What I'm now extremely curious about is - does this happen with every Xiaomi phone? Doesn't every Xiaomi phone do limited run flash sales? Or is it just due to the MIX being unique and a very limited production run?
I was originally very angry with Geekbuying when I saw their "stock sale" pricing. But I kind of sympathize with them now. I think they're a victim as much as we are.

I was greatly reluctant to order from a site I hadn't heard of, especially after the first few "gearbest doesn't include the case" posts. It would be nice to have a 'where did you get your MI MIX from' for shopper reference.

I've never been more frustrated with a website than this.
"check with us again next week to see if we can send your preorder"
all they do is monitor the market and determine if they can sell - well why did they offer the preorder price to begin with then? it is a joke.
