I did google search and I don't see any first link that gives me the access to 4.2. And what you provided me didn't work either. I don't see any website linking to the 4.2 though.

That's because your thread took the first link.
The first link was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043440 but upon now clicking it goes to this thread rather than the one I just linked <----
Or just make your life extremely simple and get a tool kit from the original developers section of the nexus 4 forums and then go to setting up back to stock and it will get you the stock Image.

Um no. You make your life easy but you still have absolutely no idea on what you're doing and relying on a program. Using a toolkit is like going to school blindly.
If you're taking mass transit via subway to get to school. Instead of knowing how to get there you use toolkit. What happens when a train service goes out of service due to a problem? How do I get to school? Where do I transfer? You won't have a clue! Because you use a toolkit and don't have a map laid out. If you spend the 15-20 minutes and learn it, you'll be in good hands and won't ever have any problems getting your phone out of non boot able situations. Endorsing a toolkit is the worse thing to ever happen and people don't know what they're actually doing especially when people flash roms and kernels and don't know fastboot or adb. It's a scary thing.

I'd say that was a little over-reacted. I think he was implying exactly what I also do for factory images that aren't readily available - download a toolkit, extract everything, and pull the factory image out of it sense most of them have it packaged up with it. NOT actually using the tool kit, but getting the images that are embedded in it. THAT is what makes life simple

It's not a problem, just be patient if you don't want to install the APK. I haven't got it yet either.

Anyway, if you search 'Google Play 4.0.26' in the 'Search All Forums' box up in the top right corner you'll get a lot of results for the APK

If this project was so important to you why didn't you back it up off of the phone somewhere? Dropbox or the free 50GB Box account most got with the Nexus 4 come to mind. I'm not sure if a full nandroid backup includes the contents of the sdcard on the nexus 4 but that might be a place to start looking, that is if you ever bothered to do a full backup of your phone.
You can get your files back, the same thing happened to me, my pocket somehow formatted my sdcard. Look for software that recovers deleted files

XDA also encourages users to search for answers before asking for help. This place is for learning new things and expanding current knowledge. People won't really learn if they're spoon fed what they want to know.

Boy do you have it wrong. XDA is not a place to come and get help. IT is not a support site. This is a developers site. You are EXPECTED to put in the time and effort to fix your own issues first. Then spend some time searching. (and do search outside your own devices forum) Then you try some things you have seen. If that doesnt work then you can post a thread but dont expect a solution.

I haven't tested such software, and I could be wrong, but when you connect (most) newer Android devices to a computer, you get access to the files via MTP. You don't have direct access to the filesystem (which I think is ext4), and because of this, you can't do the "advanced" stuff needed for file recovery (I guess checking sectors, free space, and etc.)
Older (and some newer) Android devices when hooked to a computer let you do USB Mass Storage (essentially the same kind of access you have when you plug a flash drive in), which is giving you direct access to the file system (FAT32), and in-theory, should work fine with file recovery software.
so can we mount the nexus 4 as fat32 or ext4? because on mine it just shows up in device section with no name

I have removed the apps I have installed on my Device from the above list, The first one that springs to mind is the go backup. I would check there first.
I've seen several threads of people either complaining where the OTA is, asking if anybody had gotten it, or asking those that have received it, to stand up and say so.
Quite frankly I'm immensely perplexed. :what::what::what:
You have at your fingertips the two greatest sources of techy knowledge mankind has ever known.
XDA and Google.
I gladly boast, yes I didn't care to wait and ADB sideloaded the 4.4 OTA zip.
Yes, I ran into issues, but I dug my heels, put my nose to the grindstone, and did some serious XDA'ing and Google'ing and figured it out. And, no data was lost, all data was preserved! After installing GEL with the latest Google search apk, couldn't be happier!
All those impatient souls that took things into there own hands. Let the world know, yes I choose not to wait for Google to give me a hand out, and ADB sideloaded that bad boy!!!:beer:

It takes less time to sideload the OTA manually than it does to spam check for the update and spam post complaints about not receiving it yet. It's very simple. I don't know why there are so many complicated guides.
Here's my guide:

If you are stock, locked, and un-rooted you can sideload the OTA update and not lose a single thing.
The longest part of the process is downloading and installing the android SDK (if you don't already have it), which really isn't bad at all with an average broadband connection.
I already had the SDK loaded, so it took me about 20 minutes start to finish to do the 4.4 update (and that includes the time needed to download the 185MB ota file).

You don't need to full SDK to do sideloading.
You only need the platform tools, in particular, 3 files from the platform tools totalling around 954kb
No idea why, but of the 3 nexus 7 I maintain (2 for my kids + a friends) 2 of them got the update, one didn't. Downloaded update, applied via sideload, all is right in the world.... (except the digitizer on my friends... it's a hot mess.)

I didn't want nor need to install the full SDK, but when I tried out ATGAdmin's one-click restore I wound up with a few files that seem to have worked for me since then. I just wanted to know what 3 files they might be.
I've got:
fastboot.exe
adb.exe
adbwinapi.dll
adbwinusbapi.dll
Are any of these the ones you are referring to?
Thanks in advance
You'll need correct drivers as well. Commands I used follow:
adb devices
(verify that device shows up)
adb reboot bootloader
This boots you into bootloader. Then choose recovery.
Wait for android w ! mark on him. Hit Power+VolUp together
Use menu to choose something like "Apply update from adb"
then
adb sideload <filename.zip>
Note, this is what I did. I have full sdk installed.

As you said you left 3g on..so that's is why. You said it gets hot around the upper part near camera..and yes it's because you on 3g. That means there are some apps that always work in background when you have data connection. Look for any wakelock or change your kernel. Mine never gets hot using matrix even if I kept 3g on and full sync.

You can do it through a toolkit which you look into already or do it manually and learn something new . Here is a guide for doing manually step by step. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/5303...id-4-2-kot49h-kitkat-install.htm#.UtqthrQo670

This is the all in one guide. Follow until you have unlock bootloader then proceed to section E for rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
And this here is a dedicated guide for rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179
Both of them are very detailed and easy to follow through. Good luck mate.
p/s: I believe that you should learn the manual way before using any toolkits. It's like you need to learn to count before using any tools such as a calculator.
and with manual mode you can recovery your data if u dont wanna lose it or lost by accident
