Playing games the phone will obviously heat up, and that too these higher graphics game heat up the device.

Yeah that's what I wrote it is understood that phone heats when I play those games....
I close all apps from multi task window by swiping left or right....then also it heats generally near camera area...

some app is doing some things in background. install better battery stats to see what apps are using most the cpu.then search to see if there is one that is not normal to be there(e.g. google play music is using a lot the cpu in background but u dont even use it).if yes u may uninstal that app or do something

As you said you left 3g on..so that's is why. You said it gets hot around the upper part near camera..and yes it's because you on 3g. That means there are some apps that always work in background when you have data connection. Look for any wakelock or change your kernel. Mine never gets hot using matrix even if I kept 3g on and full sync.

You can do it through a toolkit which you look into already or do it manually and learn something new . Here is a guide for doing manually step by step. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/5303...id-4-2-kot49h-kitkat-install.htm#.UtqthrQo670

This is the all in one guide. Follow until you have unlock bootloader then proceed to section E for rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
And this here is a dedicated guide for rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179
Both of them are very detailed and easy to follow through. Good luck mate.
p/s: I believe that you should learn the manual way before using any toolkits. It's like you need to learn to count before using any tools such as a calculator.

and with manual mode you can recovery your data if u dont wanna lose it or lost by accident

How to make your Vibrant run as smoothly as you just got it?

My vibrant seems to be a bit bogged down and not as awesome as I first got it. There seems to be a little lag on live wall papers, when using a live wallpaper and going to my app window, it slightly lags, etc.
How do I make it run like new besides a factory reset. (ive done 3 already)

After hours of research for a lag fix, I am yet to be decided. Everyone seems contradictory and there seems no sure set way to do it. I do not want anymore problems on my phone.
I did root using that video in literally 5 minutes though.
Is there any EXACT guide on to how to install a root fix.

Google Splash Screen.

Ok, we've seen things picking up for the NS4g and as development continues, I haven't seen this brought up. I love the Google slash screen on boot. It looks like heaven, but upon root a little lock appeared at the bottom, ruining my heaven with a opened gate. Anybody have some input on how to hide it? Give me a rough idea and ill try to make something flashable. Just a little inexperienced to just jump in.

it is possible. i did it to mine just to test it out, therefore relocking the bootloader. via fastboot, type in the command "fastboot oem lock"...
Yeah well next time you need to access the bootloader and you have to unlock it it's going to wipe your entire storage and device.

The .png for the lock must be somewhere, if you can decompile and replace that .png with a transparent one

Why is it not accessible on the Nexus phones but it is accessible on the EVO?
This line is in /init.rc:
export ANDROID_BOOTLOGO 1
Does that tell you anything?
Nope, not really

What is this file being created?

Hey guys been looking for an answer but only found a thread on evo 3d forums that doesn't have much activity, anyways I keep getting this file created every hour or so and its really starting to scare me maybe spyware or something. Trying to figure out why and where its coming from. Also attached inside contents.

I found that in my phone the other day too. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't really do anything.
Could be a log file. I'm not sure what it is. I would scan again once it appears. Not sure if it is I needed file or not. I don't have a nex 4 but was looking into getting one that's why I'm at the forum.
You can try sd maid which has a system cleaner. Or change the files permissions if you are worried about it transmitting data. But I wouldn't mess with it too much until you figure out what it is.

You guys could wipe your sdcard with twrp if you are worried, but back up all your wanted sdcard data to a computer first. And then put it back on right after. I do that with my Nexus 7 sometime. Not sure if it is the same process on Nex4. It may not be necessary, not sure.

I have removed the apps I have installed on my Device from the above list, The first one that springs to mind is the go backup. I would check there first.

I rooted my S4 Active, now what....

I am still pretty new to android, but I can follow instructions, so I rooted the as4 Active.
I removed the bloatware, I think.
What now? What is worth my time to do?
Really all I feel like I need is to play emulators with a PS3 controller, any good free apps for that?

The biggest advantages for me were to be able to run Titanium backup, ad block, Helium, Xposed and have read/write access to the system folder. With access to system, you can remove or disable apps you can't normally uninstall. You can also install modified system APKs like the dark dialer.
So there are a few advantages that let you have a more control control over your phone, but it is a few steps short of loading a full blown custom ROM in recovery.

So, I downloaded Dark Dialler, moved the original files, but it wont let me move the new ones into the app folder.

Facebook slow on nexus 7

Hey guys!
I picked up a 2012 nexus 7 for pretty cheap and I really love this tab. Does everything I would want it to do. However, one thing that's kind of annoying is the Facebook app is super slow... The app itself is responsive but the data loads as if I have a dial up connection. I ran a speed test from it and get 12+ meg...I also have an iPhone and iPad both connected to the same wireless ap and don't have any issues... All other apps seem to be fine as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!!

Hidden apps is limited to 5 from default 10 or 15 = less services for device to handle.. and use_16bpp_alpha=1 forces your device to use 16 bits instead of 32 bits. Try it. Don't like it? Just delete it. Simple.
