Just noticed, to the people who experience lag when scrolling through a message thread of one of your contacts - on my gs3 I've found that if I set the background colour of the messages to one of the 'default' ones, rather than selecting my own image, it goes away.
May be this is just an eccentricity of my particular handset but it's worth having a go if you have a custom background of any kind as I find the lag has totally gone now that I've set it to one of the 'stock' background options.
Bloody annoying though.....I specifically wanted my custom black background so as to match the colour co-ordination of everything else in messages. Nevermind...

Hi,
When selecting settings from the settings menu in system or apps, background for it is very weird. At first i though that my screen is bad, but after quick test i saw that its not the case.
Has everyone seen this before?
It's a new bug. All the menus that use this exact grey background have it on JB 4.2. Same on the N7.
Any developments on a fix for this bug?

What do you guys mean, I don't see what he is referring to in the picture or on my N10
Look at the right side of the picture (not in low res, otherwise you wont see it)...... it almost looks like mountains or a graph. discoloration....
So I have used Multi-Live Wallpaper on all of my old phones and have never had this issue come up for me until today on the Nexus 4. My first thought was to reach out to the Developer and see if I can get some feedback, so I sent him a tweet on his twitter account. Since its in a completely different language I am not sure if I will get a valid response if I get one at all so I thought I would toss this out to the community.
This app allows you to choose specific images/folders/ or albums for your homescreen backgrounds. There are many options including the option to change the background color which is behind the image of your choosing. So for example if I choose the color red for the background of my 1st homescreen, any gaps in between the 1st homescreen or the others when transitioning between screens will be red. Well for some reason on of my screens has a green background, while I have all of my screens set to other colors. I have messed with all of the settings since I am quite similar with this app, but nothing seems to remove it. If anything I can get it to change to a different homescreen when I mess with the advanced "workaround for some home application" option. Anybody else having this issue and was able to resolve it? Thank you
So a common trend (which I welcome really) in AOSP builds is the addition of a dark mode. If you aren't aware of what this is, it changes the backgrounds of certain apps to black, so things like the increasingly bright google apps have a black background now to make it easy on the eyes. However there seems to be a problem I'm constantly running into, and its intriguing that I haven't seen 1 post about it, try as I might to find a solution.
There are certain apps that I guess make calls to the same resources as some of androids ui, to get their rules about what to do with color, except those apps were not made with black backgrounds in mind, as shown by the lack of white or colored text to let you see what the hell you are doing. I guess I would even understand if I just had to turn off the dark mode as thats not that big of a deal. The problem is that these apps STAY THAT WAY. I'm not sure if this happens on TW roms, since they dont have much theming options. I thought maybe it had something to do with my backups, maybe they were carrying something over from other roms, but new apps entirely were suffering the same fate. I've changed the theme with theme changer and that seemed to be sort of solution, except I dont want to have to switch themes just to be able to read an app. The other problem there is that dark themes I've used do the same damned thing in the opposite direction making text and check boxes, unreadable or undetectable, because the devs haven't thought that "hey making things dark probably wont work for every app". Does anyone else experience this issue, and does anyone have some suggestions? Its extremely frustrating.
I was glad to see that in KitKat they changed the wallpaper setter to simply set the wallpaper to full-screen without scrolling if you pick one that's the right resolution, e.g. 2560x1600. So you can see the entire picture, without using a separate app to set it. Unfortunately, it seems they couldn't even get this right. It sets fine initially, but after some time passes, the wallpaper randomly becomes zoomed in/cropped like it would have in the past. Setting it again fixes it, but only for awhile.
Does anyone have any insights into what's going on here?

I have the same problem on my wife's Moto X with 4.4. If you find a solution, please share it on here!
HI all,
So I'm at a loss and hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Installed Alliance ROM onto my Verizon Note 3. So far I'm quite impressed with the ability to customize so many aspects of the interface. But my noob status working with android is causing me to get confused. I'm encountering a UI element that is used in popup menus that currently is displaying white text on a light grey background (as seen in the attached images) Could someone show me where to find the adjustment to change that UI element is?
Also I was a fan of the ability to swipe and launch the camera on the Stock ROM, but I was able to set my preferred app on stock. Don't see anything listed under Default Applications, also when I look at the stock camera's App Info, the Clear defaults button is greyed out. I'm unable to choose which app I want to launch since installing this ROM. I found a workaround by setting Shortcuts to Custom and selecting my app that way, but I liked the Stock ROM's grey button as opposed to using the apps actual icon.
Thanks for any help you can send my way,
Josh
Anyone have any ideas about the grey background. I'd appreciate any help, thanks

In AllianceRom Custom Settings under Colors, go to Background -> System and you can change the background of most system apps/menus, it is a universal change but you can enable/disable apps effected in the Whitelist menu.
Thanks for the idea! I'm trying but still can't seem to get that gray background to change. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

You could try wiping cache/davlik in SS, or try flashing a theme like All Backs Black. Other than that the only other thing I can think of is wiping/flashing the rom and starting over but that seems like overkill.
From what I know, I asked the same question in the ROM thread and the answer was this is a bug they are gonna have fixed in Build 2.
Thank you so much guys for the ideas and info. I was going crazy trying different combos of settings to get it to change. I'll look into trying a theme. I was already flirting with the idea of having to try doing a full reinstallation. But if its a known bug I can deal with it, the benefits of using this ROM so outweigh the annoyance of the grey menus. Thanks again!
