So I finally received my backordered Nexus 4 only to find out I have to RMA it.
So here's what happened. The battery was completely drained when I first got the phone, no biggie. I charged it up to about 85% installed a brand new Rogers SIM Card (no sign of detection), installed an OTA update and let the phone reboot.
Perhaps it will detect and connect to the network after it reboots, right? Nope, it sill shows no no signs of a SIM Card installed. I tried rebooting and reinstalling it multiple times but no luck. Then I decided to check if the SIM Card is faulty by trying it out in an old iPhone 4. The iPhone detected the SIM Card and connect to Rogers 3G. So I can eliminate problems from the SIM Card.
I then went on to settings>about phone and found the following.
Baseband version: Unknown
Network: Unknown
IMEI: Unknown
IMEI SV: Unknown
Bluetooth address: Unknown
After searching the forums, I decided it would be a good idea to re-flash the google factory image JOP40D so I can re-flash the radio image. I unlocked the boot loader, flashed the factory image, and booted up. Still no luck. SIM Card does not seem to be detected and baseband version is unknown...
I also tried doing a factory reset and a hard reset from fast boot.
I relocked the boot loader and phoned up google support and requested an RMA. ATM I'm still waiting for the customer service guy to send me an email with the RMA form.
In meantime, any suggestions or is there anything i'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Just want to make sure, you put the micro SIM card in the position shown on the manual, right?

Yup. It only fits in one way.
Hello xda
I use a Nexus 7 2012 3G edition. Last year when I first inserted my SIM the wifi stopped working, it's suck on the message "Scanning for wifi networks" although every other device connects with string signal, after looking through these awesome forums I found that the problem is with country wifi code (I live in Sudan) and WiFix Manager app solution worked for me (I just need to make sure wifi is off whenever I restart for it to work).
This is the WiFix manager thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445766
Kudos to the developer
My nexus 7 is rooted and the WiFix worked from stock rooted android 4.2.2 up to 4.3
Now when I side loaded Kitkat (4.4) WiFix manager would not work and the message "Unfortunately WiFix Manager has stopped" appeared.
The wifi would not work unless I take out the SIM card and do a factory reset, and when I reinsert the SIM card the wifi stops again. I had to restore my android to 4.3 for it to work again.
Things I tried to no avail:
1. WiFix manager
2. Wifi Codes app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982149) to change wifi country code.
3. Market unlocker and choosing AT&T carrier
4. Script and sqlite3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436683)
So I was wandering if anyone has encountered this issue and have a workaround solution
Thanks in advance
Hello, I had successfully flashed my LG G2 (D802) from stock to CM 10.2. The sim card was recognised and joined immediately to EE (UK - Mobile Network *T-Mobile/Orange*). During Christmas I tried flashing a new nightly from Cyanogen Mod (11), however I had an outdated clockworkmod version (even though I couldn't update it further). I couldn't launch back to CM 10.2, as the data was wiped when trying to flash CM 11 (Nightly).
Due to not having a back up file, I reverted to factory settings first, then wipe 'all' data off my phone using ALL the options avaliable on CWM. I then had to use 'adb' to push CM 10.2 back into to the phone. It successfully flashed and it was running stably. During the set up pages, CM gave me a pop up to look at sim card instructions to 'get it working', i thought this was a minor problem and couldn't to set it up. When this was finished, gave me everything (WI-FI, bluetooth etc.), however I didn't connect to my Mobile Network 'EE'.
I set 'Data Enabled', Network Mode: WCDMA Preferred.
I tried automatically/manually connecting via the CM settings, but response was 'Could not connect to this network. Please try again later.'
So no luck so far in connecting the phone function back up.
I would be truly thankful if everyone could help with a solution. ^_^
Many Thanks!
I've found out that the phone is locked to a HK network, but I am currently studying in the UK. The problem is that I can't unlock the phone in the UK with using the HK network; I have a HK sim card as well as UK, but since the phone is locked I can't use a UK sim card and the HK sim card doesn't seems to register UK Networks.
Anyone got suggestions to bypass this?
Hello there,
I undertook to unlock the bootloader of my xperia x compact, of course without saving anything (bye the DRM keys), I then used the fastboot to install Paranoid Android v7.2.3, success after the second attempt.
So the phone started very well, but no SIM card recognized at the start of the phone. Possibly PIN code appeared after 10 min of ignition, loop on the "unlocking in progress" and then nothing, no network.
I have been back several times on the official rom via Sony Companion without success. Last night I tried to flash a rom stock with Flashtool. The operation was going well and oh miracle the sim card was detected directly, so I'm configuring the phone and installing all my applications, a reboot after all that and the SIM card had disappeared again.
Since I tried Flashtool several times without success, downgrade to 6.0.1 either.
After hours and hours of research I still do not have the solution, I have crossed several times on forums for the same kind of symptoms but always accompanied by an absent IMEI, but when I type *#06# my IMEI is displayed correctly .
If someone has already encountered this kind of problem I would love to talk to him. Thanks for reading me
Good night

Yes I have selected my APN, edited as my carrier said. The biggest problem is that the sim card is not detected immediately at startup. And when the sim lock pop up (about 5min after starting the phone) validation of the pin code is much too long to be normal. The code is accepted but I have no network, and when I try to search manually in the settings I have a loop on 'searching'. I think the problem comes from the modem / radio but I do not know too much these points, I just follow tutorials on the internet.
I say start from scratch but use Flashtool

I've already started from scratch with flashtool, several times ...
Some news of my problem.
I have since tried several times to change rom, to flash the modem / radio.
Now my sim card is recognized, but still no network. I have wrote my APN correctly but still nothing.
The network appeared only once after the installation of Paranoid Android, but as in my previous post, after a mobile reboot nothing.
Namely that in the phone information menu, line data service: Disconnected and in this menu enable data connection does not change anything (I can't even enable it). Select radio band gives me 3 choices (Automatic, USA, Japan) and when I click on Automatic I get Set [Automatic] Unsuccessful.
If anyone can help me, I'm really starting to feel hopeless.

Hi, i had the same problem. To enter the pin straight away simply go to the quick settings and check if you have the LTE tile there. If not add it. Then hold down on the LTE tile and it should open mobile data settings and then it takes about 5 seconds and it should ask for pin. I have no idea why it is like so but currently i am on paranoid android 7.3.1 and have no problems. Best wishes!

I can't manage to set radio on
Someone ?
Something similar happened to me recently and it was fixed by selecting my provider via wireless networks > mobile networks > service providers
In my case AT&T was selected when I chose Tmo and rebooted everything was fine. Good luck.

Hi. I was originally on Pixel Xperience, but I decided to change to Candy. I read that mobile data is working there so I did it without any doubts about it. I factory's reseted my phone with TWRP deleting also system, because I wanted a fresh start... And everything went smoothly, but now the phone refuses to recognize any of my two sim cards... One of them is 4G and the other one isn't.
Does any of you know a way of restoring my mobile network service? Preferably without having to reflash stock or something.. thanks in advance for just reading this!

Are you using OpenGApps? I've had similar problems with some roms.
