Mobile data doesn't work after chanhing a ROM - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi. I was originally on Pixel Xperience, but I decided to change to Candy. I read that mobile data is working there so I did it without any doubts about it. I factory's reseted my phone with TWRP deleting also system, because I wanted a fresh start... And everything went smoothly, but now the phone refuses to recognize any of my two sim cards... One of them is 4G and the other one isn't.
Does any of you know a way of restoring my mobile network service? Preferably without having to reflash stock or something.. thanks in advance for just reading this!

Are you using OpenGApps? I've had similar problems with some roms.

changed Sim card and broke apps

Hi, using a custom ion rom on my vodafone magic (unlocked).
Recently ported my number to t-mobile uk and today put the sim in.
All my apps broke and lost settings.
I did a wipe hard reset and I am still missing the gmail app (shows a box and says app is not installed).
Anyone else experience this?
Factory wipe.
If you've done this procedure already.
Might I suggest possibly ROOTING your phone for the sake of being able to install a custom ROM...not to mention being able to have that GMail application pushed to your phone from that packaged update.
Just a suggestion.
As for the SIM card switch being the potential cause of that issue. That is highly unlikely that it would REMOVE or corrupt the application. However, your SIM card is linked to the service, the service links the data, and the data is used by Google to forward their servers to a mobile device. It could be a number of things really.
I would try and wipe, reboot, and then go from there.
Hi, the phone was already rooted.
Anyway, I decided I needed something working so flashed a Hero ported rom, and lo and behold it is pretty slow.
Guess I'll be looking for some ion/magic roms.

[Q] Emergency calls only when IMEI is not blocked

I've got an unlocked Australian (Telstra) Samsung Galaxy S i9000T that I've been using on the Optus network (with Amaysim).
I've run numerous stock and custom ROMs and recently backed up the /efs folder (using: "tar -czf /sdcard/Download/blah.tar.gz efs") after some scares with boot loops while trying to load a new Devil kernel with my TeamNYX RC5 Android 4.0.4 ICS ROM.
With these custom ROMs the phone identifies itself as an i9000 (instead of i9000T that it showed with the Telstra FROYO.JP8 ROM).
The other day the airplane mode became unavailable and I lost the mobile network.
I've tried going back to the original ROM (got it with Check Fus) and done factory resets etc but I still get emergency calls only.
I've tried swapping sims and my sim works in the other phone but no sim will work in my phone.
I've also reloaded my efs folder but nothing has helped.
I've check the "Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association" web site to see if my IMEI is barred/blocked and it's not.
Does anyone have an idea on how to work out whats going on and what can be done to investigate/fix the problem ?
This forum always had a search function. Web, tapalk or xda app has it.

problem would be due to branded phone, meaning you need a telstra ROM, for it to connect to telstra network.. try this https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=da77fff5eaaed269&id=DA77FFF5EAAED269!296 and its not easy to get one
xsenman,
I'm currently back on the stock Telstra branded ROM (obtained with CheckFus) but with the same problem.
Also, I'm not trying to connect to the Telstra network. I just trying to use Amaysim (via Optus) that has always worked before.
I'm guessing it's one of three problems:
- Corrupted EFS (but my IMEI is correct)
- A block that the Australian data base doesn't know about
- An actual hardware problem
I've tried a lot of things including have the phone re-create /efs and then I put the imei folder back.
I'm wondering how to track down the cause. I.e. is there a way to examine logs of why not able to get on the network?

O-T,
I've read that thread. That was how I backed up my /efs before this problem.
I was never able to get the /dev/block/st13 though and just have the efs folder.

If your IMEI, is correct, it is not an EFS problem, but has to do with network settings, try menu> settings> wireless & Networks>mobile settings,
If your SIM is from telstra, than don't use optus or other networks
you can try the ROM and CSC file form link i posted earlier

xsenman,
My sim is from Amaysim and worked before with the stock Telstra ROM that I've gone back to now. I've not tried your ROM as it looks like to be the stock one I'm using.
I can't access the "mobile networks" settings as the phone doesn't think I've got a sim installed at all.
It looks like a hardware problem.
Could this be a boot loader / radio mismatch ?
Also, is there any reason to not always use the latest version of Odin I have ?

Also could happen, IF SIM card is inserted the wrong way, cleaning the SIM contacts , using any Odin will do or try using another SIM card

You're right.
Problem solved. Amazingly the I9000 doesn't stop you from putting the SIM card in the wrong way round.
Thanks for your help.

Just be patient and give the guys here some time, remember that in some parts of the world is midnight right now. Now, I assume you have tried that same sim card in other phones to make sure the problem is not the sim card.
Cheers

Hi everyone,
I messed a bit with my d802 and finally i used the lg support tool to get it back to stock, but now it can't read my sim card all of a sudden (no sim card inserted).
So the question is where are the sim card files, in the kernel or the rom or the baseband ? and how to get them back so it reads my sim card.
I'd be happy to bring you more info on the problem.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, reflashing the 10B firmware then upgrading to the OTA 12A fixed the issue.

Did you sort this?
If not try this
Power OFF the phone. Remove the SIM card completely for at least 1 minute.
Re-insert the SIM card, Power ON.
If it works, I'll tell you why...

OK - good. This is a fairly common "problem" when making significant ROM changes - but doesn't always happen.
In basic terms...
When the phone is powered OFF, it isn't actually completely OFF. Some "parts" are still powered. The SIM card and its register are "parts" that remains powered and the register is sometimes overwritten when a ROM is flashed. This means when the new ROM boots, the SIM card and the register are different, hence no network as the phone assumes a fault.
The SIM card needs to be removed with the power off (NEVER with it on) so the phone detects a SIM swap and the register is refreshed.
TIP: Before flashing a new ROM - always remove the SIM card (with the Power OFF).

Hey, anyone else with this problem?
My g2 suddenly stopped to recognize my sim card.... everything else works properly...

Unfortunately I don't have a solution yet, but I wanted to point out that I am in the same situation ATM. German lg g2 though. Please any new input would be highly appreciated.
Issue Resolved
Hi I took the phone to the android expert in mobile market in my area SADDAR AREA-RAWALPINDI CITY-PAKISTAN. Where he highlighted that the ROM, Baseband and Radios where not compatible as well as my phone had some EEPROM problem as well. So he hooked a small box like USB device and pushed the ROM into it via OTG along with the new stock ROM. Now my phone is working perfectly fine and I am more than happy and thankful to the expert. My current stock ROM is lollipop version: 5.0.1

I know this thread is hella old but, I stumbled upon this (after returning to the G2 temprorarliy - had it back in 2013/14) after restoring a stock LG ROM backup and it wasn't recognizing my SIM card. Anyways, this method worked for me to get the phone to recognize my SIM. Thanks for posting this.

I lost the signal on my cell phone after moving from Android 9 to 8

hello, for my curiosity use the method with vpn to update my cell phone to Android 9, apparently everything was fine until I realized that I did not recognize the 3g, something that made me very uncomfortable so I down to 8.0, my surprise was when now instead of agrariar 4g already not even took signal, with luck it recognized the SIM card but it did not allow to use Internet Mobil nor to make calls, also at the moment of updating it to 8.1 this simply froze in the logo of Android one, since I did not have a backup, I tried to put a ROM that I had previously used and that if I grabbed 4G but now nothing, for me it is more important to have a signal again, please help me

What Rom did you use?
The last one from Miui.com?
I think that you must reflash Android Pie

Just do this
Go to settings. Applications then clear data for Google play services,Google frame work, location then remove the sim card and use VPN switch to Netherlands or us and use wifi till the update is done you won't get any problems
Looks like corrupted IMEI to me. Just search, I saw a thread with guide to recover IMEI when downgrade from Pie to Oreo.
