Not needed/redundant STOCK apps safely deleted with Titanium BackUp:
1. Chat On (Personally I use WhatsApp)
2. Chrome (I prefer Dolphin Browser)
3. E Mail (I keep G Mail instead)
4. Game Hub (Play Store is enough for me)
5. Google + (I use FaceBook only)
6. Help (Read XDA instead!!!)
7. Internet (Dolphin!!!)
8. Messenger (WhatsApp)
9. Play Movies (I don´t see movies in my phone)
10. Play Books (Same)
11. S Suggest (Google Play)
12. S Voice (Keep Voice Search of Google Now)
13. Samsung Apps (Google Play)
14. Talk (WhatsApp again)
15. Video Hub (Same as Play Movies)
16. Video Player (I choose MX Player)
Suggestions are accepted, of course.
Don´t forget 3 little things:
-Do a full BackUp first at all!!!
-Freeze the App before deleting it. And if it all keep working delete safely
-Clean up Dalvik cache
UPDATE: Also dafe to remove:
1. User manual
2. Yahoo Finances
3. Yahoo News
4. Live Wallpapers

I also like thread like these! When we get a root and a recovery, treads like these can be used to lighten our official ROMs!

Dont know yet, havent tried it on our phone.
But this article http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-remove-bloatware-from-your-rom-via-recovery/ specifies that it might work on stock recovery.
CWM
Until a version of CWM will be avaible for our phone, pre-rooted stock firmware is the only option I know.
I think using Titanium BackUp manually is our only choice for lighten our official ROM.
Dou you agree with me?
Battery
I choose to delete these apps no for getting free memory, because 4,5 GB are enough for me (My former phone only had 221 MB!!!). I choose to do it for keeping bloatware draining my battery running in background or whenever you use them.
For this is also useful useful 2 easy "tricks":
1. AdFree
2. Droid Wall
A lot of "free" apps use bandwith (and battery) everytime you use them. Keeping them to access internet you save both bandwith and battery.

What i personally do is go the Settings > Applications and disable every app that i dont need.
This is a new Jelly Bean feature!
You guys can try it until a cwm or root will be available for our device.

There is a ClockWorkMod ROM manager for Samsung Galaxy Mini and for Samsung Galaxy III but no yet for our S III Mini:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
You can use bloatware remover also (free from play store) it also has option to backup
I need to revome a ton of stuff. Thanks!
Here‘s my list of system applications I froze with Titanium on my I8190 and with which I haven’t encountered any troubles so far. If I didn’t find out what an application actually does I didn’t freeze it.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING TOUCHWIZ DEACTIVATION: this was the step I was most nervous about because if you’re stuck without a working launcher you’re obviously in trouble! What worked for me was installing Holo Launcher HD, make this the default launcher, make it a system app with Titanium and only then freeze Touchwiz Home. I didn’t encounter any problem after reboot.
DISCLAIMER: Disabling these applications worked for my personal device, only! Any changes you make to your system are at your own risk. I am not resonsible for any damage this may cause to your device. I strongly advise you to make a Nandroid backup beforehand.

Great list. I just rooted a backflip and installed CM7 on it. It is better than stock but I still needed to trim more fat so that the phone is actually usable.
I think I'm in love with Moto rooting/modding. Never got into it with LG or HTC. Now I want to go and get my Defy back...!!

Am also thinking of freezing -VpnDialogs- but will wait, not shure what it does. Also I welcome all comments and explanation on some of the apps and what they do. I'm a noob at this just figured I try something and see what happens. Also as I already mentioned so far so good everything is running OK fast n smooth. Just thought I put this out for other noobs that are holding back from flashing new ROMs , this is an alternative no deleting just freezing.

When you freeze the apps it means you disable it right? since some of the apps are essential like the camera, or accessing google+
Thanks, this has reminded me to freeze some more on mine.

Yes freezing disables it (basically blocks it from doing anything) in fact at the moment they are just taking up space, but didn't want to uninstall or delete anything until I tested the tab for a week see how it handles and if there are any arising problems because of them being frozen.
As I mentioned I use -Camera ICS- so I will be deleting the Camera app that came with the tab. Also what ever app you don't use I recommend freezing or deleting. Freezing apps you don't use on daily basis and just deleting the ones you don't use at all

I did something similar with my 3113 last night. I used a list that I found in another thread though that's in xls format.
I have a question though. I installed Steam through the play store. At login, all I get is a 2 tone gray / black screen. Is anyone aware of any of these apps possibly having an effect on the steam app or connectivity? I googled the problem, and I'm not the only person to have this happen. However, it wasn't just with this tab and the problem seems rare.

Be careful not to load any games on that tab, they eat a lot of memory,
Autostarts is an awesome program to keep apps from starting. Also rom toolbox has a startup feature in it.

Tonight I started uninstalling pre-loaded bloat. Will do more tomorrow.

Meh. I've installed quite a few apps, including some games, and still showing about 3gb free. Going to try the internal to external sd swap once I get my ROM slimmed down as much as possible, backed up, wiped and reflashed. If you're having storage space issues, check out the swap - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961097

That script works really well, it is also why i'm not moving past 4.1.2, it doesn't work on versions beyond that, because of the storage structure( multi-user ability maybe?), or something.
I agree with the op. Even on my favorite ROMs, which have less bloat than stock, I need to freeze apps in order to free up ram.

I haven't flashed a new rom yet, nor have I tried the sd swap trick / script. Got my gf an 8gb sd card today for her to use for movies on a road trip in a week. When she gets back, I'm going to switch her for my 4gb and then try the swap.

Thanks for the list of removable apps but if I wanted to turn everything off I would have gotten a iPhone that don't have any of the features in any ways.
On top of that if you just unpick all your Location based services you wont have the problems either. Google Now is the battery drainer as it keeps history of your current movement through wifi network polling and thats whats killing the battery not the apps listed

Oh and I wasn't using google now and yet the lock screen lag was persisting..

Thanks for your solutions.. For me the issue there was having to manually do media scans to always update my gallery again..
hei mate, i think you shouldn't freezee everything under "Scloud". in normal reboot looks like everything okay but you will get bootloop ones you go to recovery for some reasons you have to clean cache and dalvic cache.

Sorry, I did, But lot of comments saying that they are not working.
So wanted to ask you the procedure that you used.
Thanks!
I've heard lockscreen freeze is a kernel issue and it only happens when I have WiFi on, I have Chameleon ROM which has none of the apps you mentioned (that all was bloatware) but I still face lockscreen freezes.

Like every ROM there is, the most easy way is to flash a rooted kernel.

Jelly bean lock screen freeze
I'm having problems with the lock screen freezing since flashing the new Jelly bean test rom. There appears to be a fix according to another thread [TEST FIX][LSJ-LOCKSCREEN FREEZE] however I don't have permission to post there. The new rom that I flashed is rooted yet doesn't have clockwork mod installed. I've tried a couple of kernels including a siyah kernel which was supposed to be compatible with the i9100XXLSJrooted.tar which I have installed however upon flashing my phone fails to start or I get a flashing Siyah logo. Is there any other way to flash a zip file without clockwork mod? Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place, I'm a noob and this is my first post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:fingers-crossed:
Fixed
Ok, I managed to install clockwork mod by flashing this kernel PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.73.tar.md5 which has been made for Jelly Bean. You then have to download the Stock-LSJ-LockscreenFreezeFixTest which is available on this site...just google it. Copy the zip file to your external sd card, boot into clockwork mod recovery mode and choose the apply from sd card setting, locate the .zip file and install. All done. I haven't had any lock screen issues since applying the fix. Hope this helps.

Ok so I have been battling away trying to get my lock screen to stop freezing randomly with the new Jelly Bean leak. Seems that it is somehow related to Wifi indirectly as disabling it seems to stop the problem. This is not a great fix and I rely on Wifi. After more digging I came to the solution I have now which works. Not only does this stop the lock screen issues but will also increase battery life.

Install neatrom plus its 4.02 mods and your all good with those freezes
Device: Samsung Galaxy II i9100
ROM: NeatRom Lite 4.0
Kernel: Philz
Modem: LS6
Not even close to be truth.. same bug and same battery drain and lock screen error. No bugfix will help. Only what we can do is wait for non-leaked version.
PS. So Neat ROM not even close to be better then others..

I'm curious if anyone has a list of removable apps for the stock Defy as well as lists for Quarx's CM10 roms etc. I've found a few but were either very old or sem-related roms and releases.
From what I gathered most of the bloat is gone in Roms like Quarx's CM10. Of course not all of the included services and apps will be used by the user, for example, I don't use bluetooth, nor do I use the FM Radio etc. Most of these basic apps with layman-like labeling I've uninstalled but some are a little more like: "Download Manager" or "DRM Protected Content Storage."
I'm curious to hear if anyone has a more conclusive list than my clusterf-- of pieces.
Cheers.
I am also interested in this, I would uninstall stock messages, and browser, music player, video player... but will the phone stay completely functional?

If I can retrace some of my searches I can offer a few of the old lists. Unfortunately I never made a comprehensive one for myself and the Defy. I only just started to label my apps in Titanium Backup when I realized
For example much of the general stock apps I know can be uninstalled, naturally if you want music to play but don't have a music player, you may want to stick with stock until you find an music app which you like (I run Subsonic and have been checking up on XenoAmp's development... I just love the ideas behind it).
I've found it never hurts to back up and do a test run of the app frozen before you remove it. Here's some of the stock Apps I've removed/Frozen(Titanium Backup) without a hitch:

Haha, nice. That's is one of the lists I read a while back. Would you happen to know of a list for the Defy? Not to mention the list clearly isn't exactly replicable for us. ie "Home Screen Tips - Desktop tip widget. Will make phone FC after factory reset"
Cheers.

Yes I know that is not entirely applicable to Defy but if you read between rows is very useful. I use it and I've make some space on system ( ~75MB free).

Oh, absolutely. I'd just love to hear what else I can squeeze out. I don't use a lot of basic apps and services even on the debloated CM ROMs. Since it's so easy to overload the Defy with too many things running I'd rather keep everything minimal.
Since no one has a defy-specific list maybe I'll update this one in a day or two.
Hi all. I couldn't find a thread about this for the Z3 and now many more of us have root (thanks to giefroot) I thought I'd start one.
These are apps that come with the stock Z3 rom and can be uninstalled with no ill-effects. I used Titanium Backup to remove these having backed them up first.

it is NOT safe to delete the Sony Album application!
I ran into issues with camera and whatsapp. Even worse is, that I somehow can't restore it. Neither with Titanium nor with system app remover.
thanks for the list anyway.

What problems did you experience? I've had no issues with either of those.
U probably need another Gallery APP like quickpic. I habe no issues either
If u remove Album app means simply install Quick Pick. Without a gallery app u will face problems for sure..
Uninstalled even Walkman?

sorry for late reply, just came back from snowboarding.
First, whatsapp had some proplems sharing pictures. Using google pictures solved that. Still, the camera app link to previously taken photos does not work. If I tap on it nothing happens. I can access the photos in google pictures app, though.
I deleted a few 100mbs and the only issue I face is an empty section in the selection tab that pops up sometimes. But it appeared after changing the bootanimation so its probably related to that. I will check after I complete the test cycle. An complete list would be nice. Maybe we can build something like that.
Just to note: if you uninstalling Xperia live wallpapers app, its not only remove live wallpapers and its app, you also lose functionality of locked screen wallpaper( you just cant set one), not a big deal but still bothered me

Album + Movie Creator
I've read that removing Sony's Album application will cause a lot of issues with camera functionality and other applications. Is this simply because people are neglecting to install an alternative gallery application, like QuickPic? Or are there still lingering issues with removing Sony's Album application, such as what @kuzcoTheGreat mentions with the Camera application's previous pictures link?
It's also referenced at this blog (lockone[dot]wordpress[dot]com/2014/11/24/xperia-z3-compact-disabling-movie-creator-will-kill-your-time-shift-video-camera-mode/ - can't link due to ten posts rule) that removing Movie Creator will kill the timeshift feature for videos. Can anyone else confirm this?

Just reinstall it from here via APK
I initially deleted it to use quickpic, but what I didn't like was the fact that if I wanted to reach my photos from the camera via the quick button in the corner, it wouldn't tie me to another photo viewing app... so I reinstalled it using the link above and it works ok.

@apSlain - see my above post. Try it yourself. Feel free to let us know. But I didn't see any issues w/ album deleted. You can do same thing with the Movie app - dl APK and install.
thanks for the link. Sadly, the apk does not work for me. Seems that I haven't deleted the app properly. Well, I can live with the misssing camera-app-link. So it is fine

So...I realized that while the APK works, the app deletes itself every time I reboot... and I hate not having the camera-to-album link working, so I just flashed the firmware again, and everything is working smoothly.
First of all, how were you able to delete the album app in the 1st place since you can only do so with root. In which case I assume you know a bit about what you're doing, so just do the same thing. I'm not sure why you'd have an issue, but in case you need some guidance...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58515452&postcount=915
Follow step 1, 2, skip 3, and do 4 BUT for .77 FW, NOT .93 FM
NOTE:
DO NOT select to wipe Data. This will make sure to keep your phone exactly in the state that it was when you began this process, except you'll have all the main apps you deleted that you didn't want, installed again, including album, which you want back.
IF:
You are experiencing issues with stupid error messages, you just need to reset some things, just follow steps 4, 5, and 6 here and you're good to go.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/...-data-wipe-t3016521/post58515776#post58515776
If you do all of that, I'm quite sure it'll work, and in this whole process you're preserving locked BL, and not doing anything.
If you're rooted... then disregard what I just said, and simply flash a pre-rooted FW, and you're set.

I gave it a shot, and yep, I can confirm that the Camera link to previously taken pictures is broken and timeshift video is broken. I'd assume that most other "creative" video functions would be broken with the removal of Movie Creator, too.
For these two applications, I'd probably say keep Movie Creator if you like having the extra video editing functions on the phone, and keep Album if you really want the previously-taken-photos link to be active. Maybe someone will be able to find a way to force-link a new application to that Camera function? :fingers-crossed:
Debloat these apps will gain speed or Battery Life?
Enviado desde mi D6653 mediante Tapatalk
Both.
The 2nd post is better.
Be sure to remove the .odex files too.

jup, will do, if I get my lazy ass to do the work As for right now, I can live with the missing link in camera app.
Thanks for all the advice!
@kuzcoTheGreat. Lol. It prob took more to write my explanation than to reflash your pre rooted fw.
