Is there any procedure to develop or port android to a1200 as a1200 based on linux os

That device is even before the g1. I really don't think the a1200 has the minimal hardware specs to run android, and even if it did I doubt it would but anything newer than cupcake. But to answer your question, I don't really know.

the 1200 series came out in 2005. but the motorola ming a1680 (which seems to be the last model made) came out in 2010 and with android 1.6

Motorola is even more locked down than anyone else. HTC is the most open probably.

This locking down these devices totally takes away from a true android reason for existence right?
I say companies should if anything charge 100 bucks more for a prerooted phone, and cut the warranty in half if they are truly that scared. I would gladly pay extra for a rooted device new out of the box.

The wizards here at xda will all ways find a way, the desire z and hd had extra security and it was cracked. The Htc thunderbolt has recently been rooted to.
It is a worry though I would hate to have to stick with stock. But hope fully the nexus product line will continue so there will all ways be that option assuming that Htc make them from now on.

I have total faith in the people here at xda, but still is alarming that I read this stuff is locked down more.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the current nexus phone a samsung?

Yeah it is, what I meant was that hopefully htc will get to make the next one and not samsung

My Vibrant was very easy to root, modify, and most importantly, restore to stock. If it had a physical keyboard I'd probably still have it. The sense I got from the community there was that it is one of the easier phones to work with (except for the whole Samsung never upgrading it or releasing the full source code).
The g2x is supposed to come with the bootloader unlocked so I would put my money on LG

lg releases source on day one, unlocked bootloader, and gives an almost stock aosp feature out of the box...
Hi guys, just wondering. Will our myTouch 4G get the official ICS update at all? or they will left us behind?
Initially HTC said they would, but tthen the representative said she was "confused" or something. So no I don't think we will get the update.

I just saw a list of devices that will be receiving official ics updates. Mt4g is not on they list. Ill look for my source and post it.

I know it says that a variety of devices which mean more devices than what are listed. But look at the list. Devices that came out way after the mt4g. Also mainly dual core devices.

I highly doubt that the mytouch 4G will receive the official ICS update from HTC. Technically the device is done with its shelf life, which is why i doubt that it'll get an update. It's fine with me though, seeing as my contract ends this year and I'll be picking up a device that will either be updated to ICS or already comes with ICS on it.
According to HTC all phones released in 2011 will get ICS and Canadian variant of MT 4G known as Panache was released in 2011. So it should get ICS update

Thanks guys. I hope to see the custom ROM with ICS but most of them the camera is not working. not just for the MT4G, most of devices are the same. Do you know why it is so hard like this?

Hey, I know this is a bit(rather extremely early) early but do any of you know if KLP will be able to be supported on the Kindle Fire? Just wanted a heads-up to let you know and ask if it will come to Kindle Fire or when is it sure to release. I came here for answers since the Internet isn't as helpful.

IMO why not?
The cm10.1 was the smoothest ROM for my single core lg p970.
I'm just a bit concern about the 512mb of ram..
In the pc world: You can run win7 on many older machine but people prefer xp since it works better.

We are moving directly to 4.4. I dont like to discuss timing. It just puts a lot of stress on the team, and there is always a chance we find something which delays us a bit.
Rest assured, we are on it. You have seen the speed with which we are moving as a Google company, that shall continue.

I'm somewhat optimistic about it because they were relatively prompt in sending out an update for the camera. Not their fault that some of the carriers dragged ass.

They have broken the applications apart from the os and put them in the play store. Consistently updated their applications. Reached out to the developers in the community for suggestions. Have addressed a new concern of mine with the announcement of skipping 4.3. Saying that they haven't done anything is a bit of a stretch.

I went from an OG Droid (amazing, started my love for android), Droid 2 (meh), Droid 3 (meh), Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4, now the Moto X. I kind of feel the way I did about the OG Droid with the Moto X. If Moto keeps pushing out quality phones like the X, with fairly timely updates, I'm going to stick with them. Hopefully Google and Motorola don't let us down
This is great news... May keep from buying a nexus 5....but I'm still gonna handle one just to see it and see how it performs and feels. I've been very pleased with my moto X though, more than I have with any other device.

i dont mind this at all.
i mean i don't get caught up in the version numbers per se, but the features.
i honestly am not really sure what is so different about 4.2 and even 4.1 other than it hink some stuff in the settings bar is slightly different. 4.3 added trim support natively but from the anandtech review i know moto backported that to their version of 4.2.2. so that doesnt matter either.
4.4 at least i figure is a big enough jump. before the moto x i was using a razr M on 4.1.2 and honestly i can barely tell the difference OS wise between any of these (and i had 4.3 on a nexus 7 for a while, honestly all the jelly bean labeled 4.1-4.3 variants are basically the same)

Well besides trim it also adds opengl 3.0 support, which every currently retailing Nexus device supports.

Hi,
I was excited to hear about an Phone OS that target specifically at older devices. As I still consider the old iPhones great hardware and would love to see the iDroid efforts that have been made to merge into this new OS.
I'm still excited about the progress that had been made here: http://www.idroidproject.org/
Does anybody know of whether anybody considered porting Sailfish to iPhone?
Cheers!
That's the last phone that'll have it, sorry
