download the sbf 3.6.8 zip
download rsd lite 5.6
download moto drivers 5.4
connect your droid pro with usb cable to computer
open rsd lite, select sbf 3.6.8 and click start
DO NOT unplugg the phone until rsd lite has fiinished and you can see the phone booting, mine was bricked and this is what i did to get it back. Also make sure you do all of this on a machine with Windows 32 bits, i spent 2 days trying on my main 64 bits build with o success, then tried at work on a win7 32 bits machine and it worked at the very first try. good luck.

How do I flash the SPF file just in case I get a bricked Pro? I have a rooted Droid Pro with ClockworkMod Recovery installed from the Droid 2 Bootstrap.
I know how to go into CWM Recovery but only from the bootstrap... let's say my Droid Pro gets bricked and it doesn't start up and only gets stuck in a boot loop, then how do I flash the SBF file?
Thanks for the help, wish there was a fool-proof guide, I'm too spoiled from the ease of flashing a Droid Incredible.
You don't need CWM recovery to flash the stock SBF, you need it for installing CMW backups.
If your phone is bricked, use the stock recovery and flash the stock SBF. Stock recovery: R + M + Power on.
And after you get a working phone, re-flash CWM Recovery & the bootstrap, and use the backup you have.
When I try power + R + M all I get is an exclamation mark and the android logo?
Tell me if this is right...
I hold down both up/down volume buttons and then turn on, and then it shows me the Motorola locked bootloader screen that says "Plug in USB for programming"
Say I plug in my USB to my PC that has Moto Drivers & RSD Lite can I just flash the SBF that way? Nobody has really said literately how to do it, so I don't truly know since I have zero experience flashing Moto phones.
To flash SBF:
- Turn on USB debugging
- Connect phone to PC in PC mode
- Open RDS Lite as ADMINISTRATOR (right click on the .exe and go to run as Administrator)
- Select your SBF
- Click Start
@class: You're right and I'm wrong, I got recovery and boot loader modes mixed up.
al2x: Try what @class said.

Rephrasing my own question - Is there a way to flash sbf using Mac OSX unix command line (Terminal)? JM

2nd post is the Droid Pro SBF Files. They are at 2.26.20 so you will have to do a 14mb update after the SBF install.
You will need RSDLite to unbrick your droid.

- PASSWORD IS: alabama - You will also need the alabama password to extract the compressed file!

Guys,
First of all, hello to all! So, I followed a tutorial to install Froyo on my Defy. Now I'm stuck with my phone trying to boot as soon as i put the battery on, but it never makes it past the "M". I can get into recovery. I wiped data, cache and tried to install the "update.zip" but it aborts saying "signature verification failed." I have the boot file (that was the next step) to install using RSDlite 4.9 but the phone is not even recognized any of my USB ports. Any ideas? Thanks to all in advanced.
press volumn up buton and power button on boot , once you saw the backlit is on , release the button , you will see the rsd litle showing your usb .
dont worry . i think it is your first time to use RSD only
yea i been through that ( doesnt work on vista )
you need to install rsd lite and 2.51 UK Firmware ( no usa )
google it and you will find it or on this forum
install usb driver from motorola webiste
install rsd lite
put uk firmware in ... C drive/ program files / motorola / rsd lite
install driver
If your phone is stuck on " M " then pull battery out
turn on and quicky press power + vol up ( i think ) before M even appear
wait till it say your boot loader and your battery
plug phone in
start rsd lite
on ... look up your uk firmware that you you recently put in rsd lite folder
then you should see your phone connected on the 1 slot
then hit start or something and wait it out .
Thanks guys! But I've been messing around with this thing for so long, I drained the battery. I had to run it up to the local phone store to get it charged. I'll pick it up in a couple of hours and give your advice a try.
Hey guys! it worked! I'm up and running. Now, anyone has a link to bypass this Welcome to Motoblur screen. Is there a Custom Froyo or Gingerbread Rom out there without Motoblur?
Alright... I'm up and running, but no camera!!! Heck, it was a learning experience. I guess I'll go back to 2.1 now. LOL
So the Chinese ROM was rooted. I installed Clockworkmod and restored from the backup i had made of the original 2.1 OS. I'm back to a rebooting phone not making it past the "M" I went back to RSDlite and realized the boot file said 2.2 only. Can anyone assist me finding the right one to go back to original. I haven't been able to find a thread about reverting back to original.
The more I read, the smarter I get seems like the only thing I'm missing here is the SBF file for my original T-Mobile OS. I'm looking at the motorola website, but I can't find it. Can anyone point me to it? Thanks all! Oh yeah, this is the first android phone i mess with so my apologies.
There is no us sbf file. You have to flash a uk version and restore 3g with the posted fix. You can find the links to available sbf files on this forum. They are not available thru moto's site.

Just to make sure I got it right. After using clockworkmod to restore to my factory backup, I need to use the UK sbf to be able to boot to it. Correct?
I found the sbf for Central Europe with no Motoblur. Does anyone know of any issues with it?
well the only way to fix this if you previously backed up your rom/files with recovery ( good thing i did this ). If not then you have to live with what you got.
I backed up my original firmware using clockworkmod. I flashed to the Chinese 2.2 but my camera didn't work. Since the camera is important to me, the Chinese Froyo was a deal breaker. I installed clockworkmod again and "recovered" from my original backup but now my defy won't boot. Did I miss a step?
Your data from the backup may cause issues when rolling backwards. Install an eclair sbf, then restore. That worked for me.
On another note there is a fix for the camera. Check the forums.

Just try and install the Motorola Drivers in your desktop and open RSDLite and press 'show devices' button. It will surely show the details of your phone.
Then point RSDLite to the stock SBF and flash away.

If you hear the USB plugged in sound in your Pc, it's a messed up driver installation. If you don't hear the sound, it can be a bad cable, or a faulty microusb port (assuming that your pc usb works fine). Try once in a different pc and with a different microusb cable.

I do not hear any sound from desktop/laptop.
I think I stuck in boot loop. When I try to power on the phone, it just shows CM7 boot logo for few seconds then restarts again shows the boot logo... this happens continually. When I try to enter into recovery, it does not go to CWM recovery instead it goes to stock recovery. I am still able to enter into boot loader. In boot loader, it says battery OK connect USB to program. When I connect USB, it is recognized by phone and says transfer mode: USB. But my PC does not shows up the phone.
I tried re-installing drivers and RSDlite many times but no luck. But I have nandroid backup of CM7. Is there any possibilities to enter into CWM recovery?
Any help is appreciated.
Edit:
I tried even different USB cables and PCs also.
Need help on the SBF process. I am using the RSD Lite 4.8 and trying to flash C:\VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf.
RSD recognizes the phone but when I press start, it keeps on failing. I am pretty sure I have the drivers loaded up.
I am also running as Admin.
What am I doing wrong? I tried 4.7 with the patch but no luck.
nevermind seems like i had the wrong file
Friends,
I'm with a big problem on my Defy..I think that it's dead but i wont give up on it without asking you first..so please..try to help me..
I was on a CM7 nightly build for a long time (6 months on more)..then it start to show some problems on boot..didnt boot properly..starts to turn cell phone off for nothing without me asking to...
Then I booted on recovery and tried to wipe everything and put some new rom but something goes wrong..nothing was wiped .. recovery show some errors on mounting some partitions and things like that..
Then i thought I'll back to stock..flash a new recovery again..root my cell again..and try to put the CM ROM again..
Then i downloaded a Brazilian Retail SBF and RSD Lite here on XDA..installed moto drivers and tried to flash
now EVERYTHING stops working..it dont flash properly..in the end of process RSD Lite shows FAIL and cellphone dont boot anymore..it goes to BootLoader screen without me pressing vol up button..and it shows CODE CORRUPT on bootloader screen..
i can post a log from RSD Lite if you want to see it..
Please help me..
Hi, what bl version show the flashmodus. 9 is bl7 try to find the right sbf. The country from the sbf is not very important. You can change the basement in cm to your country under setting and then defy parts by cm10.

It says:

Bootloader
09.10
Can you say some SBF that fits in this case?
or teach me how to check it?
Thanks for trying to help!
I faced a similar problem (if not the same) when i tried to flash CEE sbf. It failed for like 7 or 8 times. I tried everything (changing slots, PCs, drivers). Because the flashing process was stoping at different moments (percentages) I kept trying and it eventualy succeded. I will never understand how or why it worked. I was lucky that my battery didn`t die.
Try to:
-download drivers from another source (x86 or x64 - based on your os)
-install an older or newer version of RSD Lite
-make sure the usb cable is plugged well
-try another sbf (there is a thread with almost every sbf)

Hello all. This may help others.About a week back I flashed the latest Indian firmware on my Indian Moto x play through latest version of rsd lite i.e, rsd lite 6.2.4 without any issue. My laptop is running windows 10 Enterprise edition. So rsd lite not running on windows 10 is perhaps not true.
I followed the following procedure.
1-Installed rsd lite 6.2.4
2-Launched the program
3-Browsed for the zip file of the firmware that I have downloaded and when prompted,I chose decompress only. The file got decompressed by rsd lite.
4-Booted the phone in download mode and connected to the laptop.Rsd lite recognized the phone without any issue.Booting the phone to download mode must be done pressing the buttons, not through any software.
5-Then either press the volume up button of the phone or the start button of rsd lite.I pressed the volume up button.Either way the flashing will start and after completion the phone will reboot.
That's it.
Windows 10
I had also problem with Windows 10 and RSD Lite and I managed to solve it by booting my computer from Windows 7 Live ISO from flash drive.
1. Install RSD Lite in Windows 10, copy RSD Lite folder to flash drive along with Motorola drivers and SBF file.
2. Boot Windows 7 Live ISO.
3. Install Motorola drivers.
4. Open RSD Lite from flash drive and flash your phone.
