Check my Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fds9eccI9OA
I did a FR before flashing with Kies, and after flashing. Also did a clean install of all apps and settings and a cache wipe.
maybe 50 pics, 50 mp3s and 100 apps and 4 widgets running.
This video was taken just 15 minutes after a reboot.
Do people consider this whining?
EDIT: Spend 6 minutes looking through the video. The lags gets worse and worse.
That is the worst lag I have ever seen, I understand if you are upset, for me the lag is 1-2 second pauses now and then.
Was it as bad on 2.1?
Looks bad. Anyways try getting rid of the batt app that lets you know of the batt percentage on the notifications tray. I got rid of mine and the phone is much quicker.
Good luck i feel for you buddy.

Something is hogging the cpu.. Or a process is creating a problem. What happens after you clean the memory in the taskmanager? This isn't normal.

The icon is just the alarm clock.
Ending all apps does not solve much. The lag returns almost immediately.
Was this lag meant to be so, i mean is it intended to blame the phone? I'm sure this is not normal, and have never seen lag like this. Mostly its 1sec (i know many complain about this) but blink twice and it will load

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I think this is relevant enough to put in a separate thread.
My apps: http://www.appbrain.com/user/borchgrevink/apps-on-the-phone (minus Angry birds)
The lag was almost like this also with jf3 and jm1.
Not many apps running simultaneously, so I don't see the problem...
Not to disparage what you're experiencing there mate but I flashed JP6 yesterday and I can honestly say so far it's been smooth sailing even without any lag-fixes, as opposed to when I was on 2.1 just prior and things were about the same as what you've got here. Did you do a TitaniumBackup restore or anything?

Hmmmm, the only thing I can think of (and this'll probably sound silly) but you might want to try without a SIM in it. I remember people with Milestones having damaged/faulty SIMs which would cause their phones to slow right down.
Also, sorry but I have to admit I got a good giggle from the fingers tapping at ~4:30 :3

It depends WHAT you are running. In your movie you say stuff like "wow, 5 apps running", but widgetlocker for instance I know slows the phone down a bit.
The number of apps means very little (I can make a computer lag by encoding a video and messing around in photoshop too). It's what you are running that matters. Maybe you should try to work out which applications are causing issues (there is a good reason why I got rid of widgetlocker though).
Anyway, this thread should be closed as a dupe. It doesn't warrant it's own thread, as you aren't a celebrity, and other people have already posted video's onto the existing threads.Your case is no more important than the others.

Wasn't running anything after fresh boot. The video is from first screen taps on this freshly booted phone.
EDIT: Removing Widget Locker does not help... Tried that.
here it's unbelievable stable(jpk+oclf+4wks+120apps), guess it was a wise choice not going jp6/m.
But why are there 5 apps active? I have several active widgets but they don't show up as a regular process(es) here.. I'm sure that my phone would lagg too while running 2 games, 2 web browsers and navigational software on the background. =/
I doubt it was acting like this from flash off right?
Do you consider that the hardware may have been damaged!? You have your warranty, get another one .

Well.. That's my point.. Your apps must be doing something that is sucking up your CPU... because I'm running Messaging, Launcherpro, Jabberoid (not listed in active apps), sipdroid (not listed in active apps), and a live wallpaper. I suspect that your apps are possibly running a few things not listed in task manager.. Also, are you running custom widgets (I'm not using any, which might be adding to the jumpiness). I also only have 50 apps.
I have noticed your app list contains MANY custom widgets..
So, I suggest working out what specifically is causing your issues. But I can honestly say I don't get lag like that on my phone..

Well, the apps "running" in task manager are only the six most recent apps. I am only using 4-5 widgets on this video. I have also tried without any widgets. Same problem.
Will get a new replacement phone (have made a deal with Samsung, just waiting for a new one).
I have 3 questions...first and most annoying, why does my phone seem to hit the back button on its own? I will ne reading xda (for example) and I will feel the haptic feed back and it will take me to the subforum, then to main forum, then to phone selection screen. Then I cant select my phone again I have to hit my home button an restart the xda app. It happens with all different apps, I am just on xda most of the time.lol.
Second, has anyones phone booted into safe mode? Why does this happen?
And third, do you know where the standard wallpapers are located so I can delete them? I have found the live ones and they are gone and so are thw stock tones. Thank you in advance.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
1st one sounds like a hardware defect or a rogue app. You can try a hard reset (wipe of data) and see if it fixes it, but if not, you got a wonky hardware set.
2nd, there is a combination of buttons to boot into safe mode, and I thought I remembered reading somewhere that if the phone crashes a certain way, it will boot back into safe mode, but I'm not sure.
3rd, not sure, good question. I'd have to look at it, don't remember off the top of my head. Are you running stock or aosp ????
Answer to 3. Wallpapers live within the framework-res.apk You would gain nothing by going through the trouble of deleting them.
good day.

Mine does that too.. except its the menu key happens most when it is in my car dock (3rd party) tho i have power and audio running to it... wonders if it is bad hardware...
I have buttons press themselves sometimes. It's usually when there is a lot of buildup on the buttons from using. Wipe them off and the problem stops.

I know this issue has been discussed several times in various threads but I'd like to give it its own thread so we can highlight the significance of the problem.
Before I start I'd like to point out that my last observation is based in Stock LJ4, and before that I've used several ROMs, both stock and custom and this issue, exists in all of them.
Issue:
3-4 seconds lag when opening dialer or contacts.
Now some might argue that once it opens, the subsequent times its quite instant, but that's due to it being in memory. BUT use the phone as normal for some other activities and come back to dialer/contacts and your greeted with the lag again.
This is supremely frustrating and unacceptable for a flagship with a frickin Quad Core processor! These are basics! Phone, Contacts, Messaging, Email are the core activities of any phone and if that isn't instantaneous then they've lost the point in my books.
What's worse is that all other (more heavy) apps open very quickly and operate really fast so I can't understand how Samsung can screw something so basic up.
Please voice your concerns here, this needs to be addressed.
Ps: one immediate solution where the developers can help is to hack the stock apps and keep them in memory always.

Thanks for opening this thread, i don't want a mod for every silly thing we expect Sammy should have done as a basic aspect of making phones... Mods are good im not against it, but for this issue i expect Sammy to resolve.... I mean come on... Sammy should know this before hand and should have fixed long back.... I hate them for this...
Thanks again for the guy who opened this thread...! Hopefully Samsung reads this...!

well based on how many Galaxy S devices they've sold, they probably assume that the general consumer does not care or simply does not notice it.

I agree, but I was just addressing the "PS" in your first post. .
Thanks for the thread. It is unacceptable that one of the most important functions is completely laggy. I hope Sammy read this voice and fix this sooner.
Btw, using exdialer in the meantime.

At first, I thought that this delay is happening because the code is not properly optimized due to heavy modification to dialer and contact. But then I realize. What did they really modify? The only "touchwiz" touch to the contact app is the the swipe shortcuts; swipe to left for sending message, and swipe to right for calling (not sure which one is which because I'm now using my secondary rom LOL). I can't think of any for the dialer app. So why the hell did samsung managed the screw it up, right?
Another notable delay is in the lockscreen. But that's quite understandable. Samsung add too much features to their lockscreen, namely: Quick command to unlock, information ticker, Ripple effect, camera quick launch, etc.
Unfortunatelly it is not only the horrible lag at opening, it is more than this.
It looks like Dialer and contatcs samsung apps has been made by somebody who never has used a phone...
Look how they support t9 on dialer... It is absolutely inaceptable.
After a lot of firmware upates I have lost any hope in a fix coming from samsung and move to exDialer.
Just install it and you see what a dialer should be.
Shame on you, Samsung.
Maybe this thread should be named "discussion for Samsung core apps" or something. Then we can all discuss everything in the stock rom: like dialer, contact, messaging, and lockscreen.
This MOD fixed my contact lag in certain way.Feeling much better after lag in contact in all jelly bean rom.

I think the General thread has been very limited while JB was in launch proccess, doing dificult to concentrate in particular problems.
Now that JB is the "default" firmware and that the General thread is more open to new discussion, I think it is better to keep that as specific as possible and open a threat for each problem we find.
As I told in my previous post, I don't has any hope in getting a fix from Samsung, but maybe if we get here enough complaints one Samsung Corp. developer read this, install exDialer, feel ashamed and learn something for the future...
That multitask fix just made my phone go slow and whenever people have lags in roms, the rom devs tell them to uninstall the multitask fix (if they included it in their rom). Ex Dialer is the way to go anyways. Always in memory, always smooth.
Totally agree....the other day a friend of mine who had an iphone wanted to use my phone for a call....and i cant express how that stupid lag had him looking at me amazed for those 3-4 seconds knowing he uses an iphone 3g....since then ive been using ex dialer....but its really frustrating for a phone marketed as being of a top notch performance.....
Yes, when I bought my S3 coming from a 3 y.o. WinMo phone I was REALLY surprised on such a big delay to open Phone/Contacs and also to switch between KeyPad and Contacs even after both are in memory.
Only thing to do was to switch to a 3rd party dealer (xPhonePro in my case, as it has the better options for displaying call logs).
I really don't understand how the most of the S3 users don't complain about this (when I stated my problem in some ROMs thread, 90% of the people seemed surprised I considered it a problem).
Also, as I use the phone to check the time at regular intervals, the 1-2 seconds delay to turn on the screen was really killing me.
Here the only way was yet another 3rd party app to keep the CPU always awake (of course more battery usage too, but during the working time I really need my phone to wake up instantly).
Those 2 big (imho) problems, keep me from considering the Note II as a gift for my dad... as I heard it is effected too.

To the bolded item: Simple. 90% of XDA people are geeks that don't use their phone to call. They use their phone for hacking and modding. I'm sure by now you must have read posts from someone that claimed they have achieved 4 days battery life (they even got screenshot as proof)? LOL
FYI, I have one friend that is no geek just a regular user. He did mentioned to me about this delay problem not too long ago. I think it's safe to say that majority of users think of this as a problem, but they don't know how to convey their complaints to world outside their realm of ignorance (i.e to XDA forum or to Samsung guys). XDA people as I mentioned before, obviously using their phones for something else. And they count for less than 50% of the total (ignorant) users out there.
Having flashed and played around with Ubuntu on my N4 I have found that it looks good but, as you would expect from the sort of build, that it is barely usable.
The browser app only produces a white screen and most things are generally broken, to be honest, I'm not in the least bit surprised seeing as it's a dev build but it would be nice if things worked a bit better.
I also noticed there was no way of accessing settings of any sort, aside from network settings. This may well be an oversight on my part but I did dig quite a bit.
I have not had a chance to play with the SDK as I'm on windows and can't find anyway to install/use it (and I really can't be bothered) so I have no comments on that.
From what I could tell, performance was pretty good, but that may just be the N4, and I noticed no huge drain in battery when I restored my CM10 backup, aside from what you'd expect from a backup, flash and restore.
I couldn't figure out how to use the docking mode (nor do I know if it's even in this version) so I also cannot comment on that.
However, I think I will be sticking to CM10 for now and I'll wait for a more usable version to come out before I begin to use Ubuntu more often.
How has everyone else found it?

Looks good
I installed Ubuntu on my galaxy nexus and while it does look good, it is very laggy and slow to respond to touch commands. Browser works fine but very slowly. I too did not find any "settings" menu or options. The camera works just fine and so does the gallery. Power button does the usual lock/unlock action, but the volume buttons seem to do nothing. Haven't heard any sounds on the device either. Will keep exploring the OS but so far, it really does feel like a preview, as Canonical has described.
Calls and sms work, and so does wifi. When i plugged in the headset during a call however, it did not work at all.
It is available for the Verizon s3 on RootzWiki just Google it.

The browser worked for me, and I'm on a galaxy nexus.
You can access volume controls and brightness controls the same way you can network (note brightness is under battery indicator). There is no way to set date and time except from command line via adb or ssh. Out of curiosity what other settings would others like to access?
For the SDK, although I can't use QtCreator I am able to edit and compile code from a Windows 7 computer on the phone itself, using ssh with vim qmake, and even run some GUI programs using an X server, like gedit and meld.
Docking mode is unavailable, as far as I can tell. It probably will not be available until Mir is released, since I think the rootless X is being worked on for Mir.
I think Ubuntu Touch has a lot of potential.
Is this supported by all phone?

Hello, I have LG G3 for two months, it was an upgrade from my LG NEXUS 5. I really like the Design, camera and battery on my G3, but the performance was always poor. I did upgrade it over OTA, did a factory reset a few times, rooted to remove MacAfee. Now I even reinstalled software form a file (tutorial on forums). It is still choppy when I scroll web pages, play store is really bad. The launcher was also not smooth at all compared to my Nexus, now I am running Nova launcher it does help a little. Only essentials apps are now installed and I checked running services and remove the apps that have service, but I don't really use. Still feels like cheap dual core phone, far from Nexus 5.
tl;dr
Why does G3 lag so bad when you scroll and how can I fix that?
You can reduce lag on home screen by disabling wallpaper scrolling.
There are threads on this already where you will find what you need. You can make this thing fly very easily.

Very easy? I don't think so. Unless you can prove me wrong.

Under 5 minutes. Yes, very easy. Just do a search.

Proving you wrong is even easier than getting rid of most lag. Disable all animations, set transition scaling in dev options to zero, turn on hardware acceleration, do NOT reduce dpi as some here have advocated. No more complicated than checking a few boxes.
Unfortunately, running the stock rom, you'll never be able to compare it to the nexus 5. Once Cm11 is ready for prime time, it will be a comparable experience
