After flashing my phone with a droid ROM, I do not get sound when I make calls. And the mic doesn't work. Sound only comes when I put the call on speaker and even with that no mic. But mic works with Google search. Please help me. I have tried 3 diff ROMs, same results

Ok so I just noticed today that my external speaker does not work. My head phones work just fine. By the way its the speaker on the back. Has anyone else had the back speaker die yet?
Let me edit this. It turns out that my speaker does still work but only for notifocations, other apps will not work with my speaker. And I am using the liberated Rom, but the speaker was working just fine the other day.

Long story short my phone fell in the sink and now the phone call speaker generates no sound. The other party can hear my voice in the phonecall and I can hear things on speaker and with the headphones plugged in, just not with the normal phonecall speaker. I hope its not dead :/. Any ideas?

Does anyone know of a work around for using a pair of normal headphones plugged into note 2 but not lowering the internal mic gain?
On my galaxy nexus I could use headphones with phone in car mount and Caller could hear me fine. Since I have been using the note 2 the caller says I am very faint. Unplugging headphones and using speakerphone caller can hear me fine. Obviously I would rather use the headphones so I can hear the caller clearly.
Any ideas......

I'm experiencing the opposite with VoIP calls. The other party hears everything include any background noises.

My Nexus4 has really bad video recording audio and good in-call audio.
It seems from reports here that this is reversed with some people.
When you switch from Normal to Speakerphone mode the audio is re-routed
from the mouth to the videocam microphone.
Here is one quick 'hack' to try, not sure if it will work. Call your friend and ask how they hear you.
Then plug something in the audio jack (headphones, earpiece, whatever) and ask how they
hear you then. If the audio is much better with something plugged in - cut the cord and
keep the phone jack in your phone at all time.
If the sound is better normally - don't use earpieces or speakerphone.
In the meantime hopefully a kernel developer can figure out a fix.

I have the opposite like one of the fellow forumistas... during a voip call or video call on skype my mic goes silent. Is this a software issue?

Just tried your little hack... if you make a skype call or video you can put the jack in once and pull it out and the call continues normally...So you are suggesting it is a kernel issue?
Yup happens to me. Its either i raise my voice or take the phone closer to my mouth...

Hi,
I've been using Nexus 4, and recently this issue started.
when I try to call, the other side can not hear my voice.
However, if I turn on the loudspeaker the mic works fine.
So, the probably the hardware is fine because the same mic works fine when used in loudspeaker mode.
I've not installed anything, not changed anything, its a brand new device.
I've tried starting in Safe mode, it doesn't help.
i was using the stock android from google all these days and issue started. I have now migrated to Cyanogenmod 11 and the issue still persits.
I have downloaded an app from play store called soundabout to try convince my phone that there was no headset plugged in. But of no use yet.
Any help on this please
Help please

Fellas, please please help
Does your earpiece speaker work normally? If so I can only guess the nexus 4 uses top mic for loudspeaker calls. If your bottom mic has failed its easily fixed as it comes as part of the charging block.
It could just be something blocking the mic. Does your voice sound muffled or is it no audio at all?

Yes the earpiece speaker works fine. the bottom mic if u hold it close to ur mouth and talk works just ok...as in the other person cant hear 100% but its like u r talking from a far off place.
Hardware problem, mic - flex cable???

Probably is just dust or something then, get a dental pick or something and try and clear the mic hole from the outside. If it still doesn't work you might have to disassemble the phone and remove the blockage.
I had the same problem and I use the application soundabout to resolv it
