Hi guys,
I'm using chomp SMS and mms doesn't really work unless I disable the auto retrieve feature of the native messaging app. Can't seem to find this option under the settings menu though. Any clue guys?
Also, any of you chomp SMS users out there experienced similar issues? I can't send and receive mms. SMS works like a charm though.
Thanks!

A widget by curvefish called "APN On/Off works, I tested it. I can still use the net on demand, but MMS will not download.

this is complete bull...I am beyond pissed...why does group text not work???????????? what app are you using? how does group text work on a stock N4 but not a tricked out G2...can;t wait to root this and de-bloat all the garbage
I'm using textra. Seems to work fine
I'm sure it still works on ATT... Verizon doesn't have the option either, but it still works.
negative. when I try to send a group text it just sends to everyone individually
On the verizon G2 under the stock messaging app it gives u options to send to everyone as a mms or as individual txt messages.

im on at&t and this was my issue before on the Gpro.. now i have the G2, its still the same..
on the stock messaging app i can send group text.. the problem lies when those people reply.
instead of putting their replies on the group text thread, the stock messaging app creates individual threads of each persons' replies..
it sucks but oh well.. guess i have to deal with it or download a different messaging app...

You need to enable it in settings. you also need to remeber that those you are sending to need to either have their phone support it or have it enabled as well. or use and 3rd party app like Go sms, or handcent.
i am using the stock app for now, i have it enabled and it sends groups just fine if they meet above settings...
i sent group to my wife and daughters iphone, works just like it should send and receive as group, but it didnt work to my other kids older androids, until we loaded go sms and enabled group text...
THats the thing. I don't even have that option in my settings

Where in settings do you see it because, like I said, I don't see it at all

I can confirm that it is not there on att... unless i am blind..
Verified: the ATT version does not have a setting like Verizon...completely bogus. Anyway---just downloaded textra and it seems to be working awesome. It's a new, very lean text app and has the group text option in settings. Tested it twice with and works flawlessly. Doesn't seem to be hitting my battery at all either.

I already went thru the settings and there is nothing there. Only LG has this coz i also had the GPro before and its the same. Send group text and recieve individual replies as new thread.
I had alot of android phones samsung, htc, motorola and i didnt have to download a third party app for receiving group text.

Check you APN list in settings > more. See which one you a re currently using and try a different one to see if it helps. You can also write down the settings of the APN that you are using currently and delete the APN, then manually re-add it. Sometimes that fixes the issue as well.
Hi, so I recently picked up this 6P, but I'm having a problem with MMS. I have been using EvolveSMS for quite some time, but MMS messages aren't working. They work perfectly in Messenger though.
I've tried other apps, like Message+ and Textra, none of which work either.
I'm on Verizon's service and have tried using just wifi as well.
Anyone else have similar issues or know what might be wrong?
Thanks !

Nevermind.. I got it!
Apparently the other text apps weren't using the APN settings from the device and I had to set them manually. Never had that happen on a device before, odd.
Which APN setting did you use? Which carrier?

Verizon. In EvolveSMS there was actually a "System Controlled MMS" setting under the APN settings. That picked up the APN settings from the phone.
I hadn't thought to look there initially since that wasn't an option in EvolveSMS on my old phone.
I didn't bother trying in Message+ or Textra since I don't use them.
Has anyone seen this behavior on the V20? I have Textra set as the default SMS app and randomly, I get a notification from the Messaging app that I have a new text or MMS. The odd thing is that those messages won't show up in Textra, only in Messaging.
So far it seems to be with 1 contact, my brother who is on T-Mobile using an S6. I deleted my convo in Messaging with him when this happened yesterday and deleted his convo with me on his phone and it was fine. Just now, I got an MMS from him and happened again. Seems odd...
Anyone else?

I tried that right after I posted, actually. Seeing if it happens again.
How can I get textra to show on second screen
Will Textra send via WiFi? I have not tried the app yet.
Thanks
I'm not seeing this behavior yet. However, Textra and the Messaging app aren't showing any of my contacts. I keep syncing them, and they show up in the Contacts app, but it's like the Textra/messaging app doesn't have access to them or something.
Edit: Reboot helped.

Same thing. Have you been able to fix it? I'm about to delete Textra, force stop stock app, then reinstall Textra to see if it will start working properly. I noticed that it happens to only one person in my contact list, extremely odd.
Just in case anyone else is having this issue I seemed to have found a fix. Go to settings then apps. Select the native messaging app. Revoke permissions, block notifications, switch "message app" to No, switch draw over other apps to No. Delete Textra, restart phone, reinstall Textra, & set Textra as default app (simply go into Textra & begin to use it, it will ask if you want to make it the default). This should hopefully fix any issues anyone might be having.

THX,I'll give that a shot (not sure if I'm actually having issues, but, incoming texts seem to be coming in later than they should).
And BTW...............
:good: WELCOME TO XDA DEVELOPERS ! :good:
EDIT: @Kief_haring
After following the steps you listed, the stock messaging app settings (permissions/notifications) reverted back to enabled.
The message app & draw-over other apps settings remained off (no).
There's some MMS settings within the Textra app that are T-Mobile specific, may need to have some trial & error to get things just right,YMMV.

You have to make sure you don't open the native app after setting everything to off. Maybe just set them all to off, delete Textra then reinstall. Don't restart phone as that may be what is enabling the native messaging app settings. I have T-Mobile as well. I enable the T-Mobile MMS over wifi option to on within Textra. Let me know if this works out, if not I'll try to troubleshoot the issue a bit more.
Also thanks for the warm welcome! I've been lurking on this site for over 10 years, just never made an account. Figured it was about time to give some input & ask questions for myself as well. Love this community & want to give back as much as I have taken from it.

T Mobile wifi fix. Apologies for not being more clear about that. When you set that you can actually see wifi shut off & 4G take over when sending an MMS. Never have trouble sending a picture after setting that up.
---------- Post added at 12:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 AM ----------
Also with MMS Behavior, Legacy seems to be working well on the V20. Haven't had to even think about switching to System MMS.

I leave the off on mine and have not had any issues sending MMS.
Wish that Textra supported the second screen and that is where the notifications appeared.

I'll have to try and leave it off... With the N6P it always had to be on.
None of the above worked for me. The one or two peoples messages that were going into the stock app just stopped coming in completely.
Any other ideas?
