I like that I can set my apps to automatically update but is there an easy way to view the change log from the play store when the apps get updated? It's a little annoying to have to go to the play store, and look up the app to find the changes. That was the one thing I liked about the iPhone was that I would see the change log before I update the app at least.
depends on what app you're using. some apps upon updating, they pop up a box with the changelog like titanium backup
Ok cool thanks
well they pop up the changelog box when you open the app to elaborate more
Yeah I'm seeing that. I have GSAM battery monitor and it popped up the change log when I launched it after upgrade.

I am using the latest market (3.0.something, i believe).
It will not stop notifying me to update applications.
I do not want to update these applications.
There is no option to disable notifications like in the old market
I can also not find market autoupdate bulk toggle in the market
I would like to disable these notifications. How would I do so ?
I would like to know this as well. It keeps reminding me to update facebook but I dont like the new version and refuse to update to it.
i dont think there is a way of disabling the notification, you would just have to ignore it unfortunately !
@dkyle. whats wrong with the latest update of Facebook ? mines working fine !

batch toggle of Market autoupdates can be done with Titanium Backup - definitely in Pro verison, not sure about free - just go to Menu / More / Market Autoupdates
You can always use tasker so you never have to see the notifications
From something awesome
the older one... free i guess....
menu/settings/..booom....!

I just don't like the looks of it compared to the one before it. It seemed to work alright on mine but I don't like the way it looks like the mobile site now.

anyone ? Can't find anything else on the internet about this.
If you are running Market version 2.3.6 or under, the notifications can be disabled via Market --> Settings --> Notifications --> "Do not notify me".
I'm not sure about Market versions higher than this, as I do not want to deal with the latest market version layout. So you could roll-back or just re-sign the Facebook apk or whatever apk you don't want updated (Signapktic is a android app that would do this easy for you) and re-install it (you must uninstall the original before the resigned will install). The re-signed app won't show up in the market then.
The last option (again, tested on 2.3.6 and lower) is to manually edit the Market database file, under "/data/data/com.android.vending/databases/assets.db". All your installed apps will be listed under the "assests 10" table and you can remove them from there and push it back to your phone. The Facebook app or what app you delete from that file will not show up as installed in the Market anymore. The database will be regenerated whenever you clear the Market cache though.
Hope this helps,
-Mike
EDIT: Sorry for the redundancy, just re-read your post and saw that you are running the latest market and already looked at the settings. One of my other two options should fix the problem for ya though.
When I get app updates in the Play Store on my phone, I can easily view the What's New section to find out what's been updated in the app.
But on my A500 when I go to update the app, the only screen I get just shows the app's permissions. There's no "What's New" changelog section available.
Am I missing something really simple?

You have to click on the app icon itself and that will take you to the update info. That's all I've found, it's really annoying that there is no clear support for the tab.
Hi,
I'm a newbie to Android. Got my Nexus 4 few weeks ago and am very pleased with it so far (except for the BT Audio problem).
I have many applications marked with "auto update" enabled.
Quite frequently, I get the "Updated Successfully" notification, when apps are updated.
... but how do I find out what's changed?
When an app is not updated automatically, I can see it in the play store, and the release notes are usually informative enough to show what's new. But when the app is automatically updated, there's no easy way to see those notes.
Any idea as to what can be done?
Or am I doomed to search for 'facebook' on the play store, whenever it's updated, just to search for the release notes there?
You can still go to the play store and view whats new in the current version of any particular app, even if it has already been updated on your device.
Thanks for the response.
Sure, but there's no way to get there easily.
If you click the "updated successfully" notification, the app loads.
If you long-click it, you get the "play store" app info, not the app that was updated.
The only way is to actively search for the app in the play store, that's a tedious process, especially if you have multiple apps updated.
If you don't mark apps to be auto updated, you can load the play store, see a list of the apps that need updating, and each click will show you what's new... it's actually easier.
Or am I missing something?
Push the menu button in the play store, and then my apps. All of your apps magically appear for you to click and see the release notes.

Got it!
Thanks!
Just wanted to share with you guys a pretty easy way to use Facebook without actually using Messenger, no root needed as well. I am using latest beta and works fine.
This should work on all Android devices.
1) Download newest facebook version if you haven't
2) Download Messenger yes it's needed but don't turn it on at all
3) Download from Playstore Superlock Package Disabler (activate it as an admin: to let it block apps) using it you can also block bunch of bloat
4) in Package Disabler block messenger
5) Profit! facebook will now open regular chat instead of using "messenger"
Let me know how it goes for yall
Or you just install the first version of FB messenger and never open it or even sign in and continue using Facebook like normal. Just turn off auto update for that app in the play store app. It's a lot smaller than the new messenger.apk and doesn't require a third party app. There is a thread in the main apps forum.
I just made a shortcut for fb for Google Chrome on my launcher. That way Facebook isn't running all the damn time in the background
bbeelzebub how do you install an earlier version? every time I try to install it, it asks if I would like to install an update to the built in application and then fails. do I have a wrong apk file or should I do something different. im running 5.0.1

Here is the one I used. I just installed like normal, went into the play store like I'm going to update and long pressed the menu key. Up comes the option to turn off auto updates for that app. Unchecked it. Then I went into the app menu on my phone and disabled notifications for the app period.
Hasn't bothered me since and I use FB for all my messaging needs without using messenger. I've never even opened the app. Make sure you uninstall any version of messenger you may have previously installed.
so far it worked great. hopefully it wont force me to upgrade thanks
Do you know of a way to take messenger and facebook out of google play so it wont update? I used to use TI backup but now I cant use that.

Go to the app in the play store where it gives you the option to update, long press the left capacitive button on the bottom, up should pop a men to disable autoupdate for that app.
many thanks
Hi guys.
I thought it was strange not having updates for a while on the Store, so today I checked with a friend of mine and I saw that he had a lot of updates this morning, same apps that I use on my phone.
So I checked manually if there was any updates, but I had no items in the list:
As you can see, my list is completely empty (it says "No update avaible" or whatever... in italian), so I manually searched for an updated app. I tried Instagram and:
The app can be updated... how odd ("Aggiorna" is the italian for "Update"). So I've updated it and it appeared in the list of the up-to-date apps right after.
I erased the data of every single Google app, Google Play Services too, but I had no results.
How can I fix this? It's a pretty annoying thing.
Hi,
Did you use microG?
I have the same behavior with microG.
Or maybe you've restored apps with something like Titanium?
Once you updated the app on play store, future updates for this particular app will be shown on the update tab.
You made all the proper actions to try solving it, I guess.
In Titanium Backup, there's an option for linking apps to the Play Store. Maybe it can help.
