They are in /data/media but you can only view that folder with superuser priviledge. If ES File Explorer has an option of getting superuser permission in settings then you can view them or you can use Root Explorer App.
If you have adb then you can view them in adb shell and then become superuser and then view that location.
as i said. the fix for this is one or two posts below this one. why is it so hard for people to understand engrish?
go to android /mnt/shell/emulate and you will see your nandroid their I had same problem until I found it:thumbup:

probably because 1 or 2 post below is not helpful at all. Im not sure if you are aware but threads are in order of the most recent comment. So, by posting a reply you are now changing that from 1 or 2 posts below to some other number.

heard. the point is its on the same page. it isnt pages deep where you would need a search. the op can get away with not caring about a search. but to read this thread and see that the fix is only a couple of clicks away... why would you take the time to post that you are having the same issue.

I see the nandroid backup in /data/media/clockkworkmod/backup and in /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup. I am using root browser lite.
When I try to delete the nandroid it doesn't work with this app. How can I delete?

I hadn't heard of that browser before. Worked llike a charm. Thank you
ok, so - say i want to copy these nandroids to my computer before i delete them from my nexus 4 / and vice-versa. how would i find it using windows explorer or finder?
i understand that the nandroids for CWM are stored in:
/data/media/clockworkmod
and when you plug your phone into the computer, it shows an emulated sdcard, but whats a quick and easy way of getting to the root of the device for copying from the computer?
apologies if this has been covered before, but i just stumbled upon this thread when looking for it, and this had the latest activity.
thanks

Just to clarify:
Nandroid is stored in the phone's internal storage not the internal sdcard.
When you connect to the computer, windows explorer shows the internal sdcard only.
A file browser app that allows manipulation of the internal storage will show the nandroid. You could copy it to your sdcard and move it to your computer with windows explorer, airdroid, etc. Or you can us the tool kit.
Hope this helps
AW: How to delete Nandroid backups?
In CWM itself you have the possibility to delete them, too. I think this is worth mentioning. To my mind this is the easiest way.
Copying them to your PC is also possible via ADB (if present and activated)
Code:
adb pull /data/media/clockworkmod/

Awesome thanks, so i'm assuming that will copy the data to whatever directory i am currently in in the Terminal. we'll just assume we are in C:\?
Then also i would assume the command to put that nandroid from my PC to the phone would be
Code:
adb push C:/clockworkmod/ /data/media/clockworkmod/
??
thanks

Im new to forum but Ive been trolling for the past couple days. I currently rooted my Vibrant with One Click GalaxyRooter. Then purchased Root Explorer to view the hidden files and folders that I need to get to in order to remove some of the stock .apk and odex files.
Im currently in the /system/app directory and the first thing that I want to remove is that avatar icon and files. I long press the file in root explorer to delete it and it allows me to. Only problem is that when I go back or refresh the directory everything is still there even when I reboot my phone.
Any suggestion.

You don't access the file directory. Titanium Backup will show you a list of ALL apps installed. You simply click and press uninstall. Simple, no fuss. You can even make a backup before you uninstall it in case you need it later. Done.
Use Titanium Backup like everyone said, I also had the same problem with other Root Explorers. Also be sure to delete the .zip file because it might cause problems later. Also do you know what trolling means? I think you meant lurking, because trolling implies you've been trying to get people angry.
I didn't even notice he said he had been trolling LOL. Get back troll! My brain automatically assumed lurking.

So I would like to transfer my nexus 7 nandroid backups to my PC. Since I only have an 8GB N7, I dont want to waste alot of space with nandroid backups. My question is, when connecting my N7 to my PC via USB cable, which folders do I need to transfer? The reason I'd like to do this is because I need to do a factory restore on my device, but after I get the factory restore done, I want to be able to reflash CWM and then use the files on my computer to restore my N7 (after transferring the files back to my N7 of course) Any help would be much appreciated!
Just cut the clockworkmod folder from the internal storage. Then if you Need to restore just drop it back

Sorry, but I never thought about this before. If I delete the CWM folder from my tablet, it will remain in my tablet folder on my PC? Then, if I need to do a restore, I can just connect to the PC and add it back to my tablet and restore? Is this correct?
No. Plug your tablet in
Open Nexus 7
Internal storage
Copy the folder clockworkmod to a place on your pc
Once complete delete it from internal storage
If you need to restore
Plug in
Open Nexus 7
Internal storage
Copy clockworkmod folder back from pc to internal storage

I realize this thread is a bit old, but I have been searching and I cant find the answer. My problem is simple. The clockworkmod folder simply does not show up on my PC. The directories that show are the ones for my apps etc, and I can't seem to dig deeper than that. On my Nexus 7 I can browse right to the backups, but I cannot access them from the PC. I have no clue why. I successfully rooted 4.2.2 yesterday and everything else I've done has worked fine, but I can only access the clockworkmod folder from the Nexus 7 itself or from the adb shell on the PC (but I have no idea if I can use the shell to move the backup file to the PC or not).
So in short, I have no idea what to do. I recognize that I am a noob here, but I have done my homework searching for this particular issue and I haven't been able to find anything resembling a solution.

The pathway for nandroid backup is not /storage/emulated/0 or /storage/sdcard0 or /sdcard
It's somewhere else, but I'm not sure exactly where. Download a root file manager like root explorer then search.

Thanks, I have been using the one that comes with ROM Toolbox. The path is data/media/clockworkmod but the problem is I can't access that from the PC. When I try to copy or move the backup file to a directory that I can reach from the PC, It fails. I just get a message saying copy failed or move failed and thats it. That happens with both ES file Explorer and the ROM Toolbox root file explorer. I can see the files just fine and they also appear to have read, write and execute permissions.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong as a user with these apps that I am not being allowed to copy or move these files.

OK, something occurred to me right after writing that reply. I have been trying to copy the whole folder containing the backup files instead of just copying the files themselves. So I went in one level deeper and selected all the individual backup files and was able to copy/paste them into a directory my PC can see and was able to copy them from there onto my PC hard drive. So problem solved I guess.
Difficult to transfer Nandroid to Win8 PC
I have spent the morning trying to find a certain way to transfer my TWRP folders/files to a Windows 8 PC, without luck:
If anyone knows of a simple way to do this please chip in.
Luckily I have an iMac which allows easy transfer from a Nexus device, so I was able to copy TWRP to the iMac and from there to a 32GB Flash drive, then carry that to the Win8 for copying. Not exactly what one would hope for in 2013.. but it works.
I looked at pulling TWRP using WUGfresh and a Nexus Toolkit and think myself lucky not to have ended up with a brick.
Any links to Howto for Windows 8 much appreciated

So it's okay to just copy the backup itself to the computer desktop, then when I need it, transfer it back? I've been just going in to the CWM folder and copying the folder directly to my desktop. So if I need to I can just copy it back provided I put in the same folder?

Well, I just wasn't sure if in the process of being transferred that windows might alter it somehow. I just transferred my Nandroid to my computer, deleted it off my phone, then transferred it back and booted into CWM. I went to restore just to see if it would show up and it did just fine.
I just wasn't 100% sure about it. It just seems too easy... lol. I have Nandroids of quite a few different Rom setups on my computer, I just never had to restore them yet. So hypothetically, if you had the storage space, you could take a Nandroid of every Rom setup you've had and be able to revert to them anytime?
I saw some video guides of people using Adb to transfer to their computers and wondered why they didn't just copy and paste it. I thought there must be a reason. I'm still relatively new to this (only been a few months since my first flash), so I'm still learning.

And what would the advantage of doing it through adb pull command instead of just simply copying it to the desktop? Is it safer or what? That's why I wonder if doing it this way is safe, when everyone else does adb commands...

If you are using cwm, the backups are not user accessible and do not show up under /sdcard, and the only way of accessing them is with ROM manager or with a root explorer... Which makes it hard to transfer back and forth from a computer. If you use adb you will be able to pull everything available under /data/media

That's weird... The backups show up on my computer.... I just plug in and open my phone through my computer, then I go to the CWM folder and drag and drop it to the desktop. Usually takes about ten minutes to transfer because my nandroids are huge (2.2 gb). That easy. I now have transferred it to the computer and then transferred it back to my ext SD card and used it to successfully restore. Did it yesterday.

Well i guess on windows 7/Beams build 15 it's visible.... But even when I still had the stock Jellybean Rom I was able to transfer my backups no problem...
In any event, I should probably get more familiar with adb so i am able to transfer that way or restore if I get bricked somehow... Adb is just so complicated to me though. I've read countless threads and other how tos, but i'm still hesitant to try anything serious. It's friggen intimidating. I have the toolkit installed and the path all set up on my computer and everything, I just haven't done much with it yet.

not your version of windows OR ROM.
are you on 4.2.2 with latest CWM?
In CWM it says the file location for the backups is /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
When I go through AirDroid, Root Browser, Solid Explorer, etc. that directory is NEVER found. Where are these backups saved and how can I find them (and ultimately copy them to my PC). I've never had a problem in the past with my S2 doing this. What am I missing? Thanks.

You can use Root Explorer to go to /data/media or use adb shell and then run "su" to get root privileges and then the directory will be visible.
The directory is not visible as a normal user and need superuser permissions.

Yes, you need to copy the blobs as well as backup directory.
From what I understand, Backup directory is now very small in size and backups are done incrementally by pointing to blobs (which are the actual data).
Many thanks to Jeff_kz for the excellent Nookmanager. I just set it up on my UK NSTG 1.2.1 and everything seems to run well.
I have a few questions. Keep in mind that I'm a newb and that I have gone through the forums looking for answers but can't find any.
1) How do I get ReLaunch to stay on /system and not on /sdcard?
2) I tried deleting some stock apps, starting with demomode.apk to be safe, but after delete and confirmation nothing happens, how do I delete them? After that, can anyone confirm that these are all safe to delete? And could someone identify the Amazon app store for me, since I can't find that one to delete?
3) How can I install ES File Explorer? (Will that replace ReLaunch?)
4) The only apps I really need are Pocket/Read It Later and a pdf viewer, so I don't think the NTGAppsAttack is for me. Once I have ES File Explorer, will I be able to install Pocket using an old .apk file loaded onto the nook via sd? Or will I need to use adb? And where is a guide for installing apps?
Many thanks in advance!

Not on mine. In fact, there is nothing in /data. A lot of apps are in /system/app but not this one.

I followed some tutorials on this, but I haven't gotten adb to work on my computer yet. Did anyone else have this problem with their nook?
Since I can't use adb: am I really stuck without it? Or should I use your GApps tools? (My problem with using the GApps tool is it includes a lot of things which I don't want/need.)
Thanks for the help so far.
You can't see anything in /data because you aren't using adb or a root file explorer. adb over wireless is pretty darn easy to get going. Not much more than loading adb on your pc and starting adb wireless on your NST. To get a root file explorer going without adb put an .apk of ES File Manager on your SD card then tap on it in ReLaunch to install it. Run through its settings for it to be a root explorer and to mount system R/W
