Stock browser on Nexus 10? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I could have sworn that the N10 I smoked had the standard Android stock browser... The one I have now doesn't seem to have that one, but it does have chrome. When I set this up I pulled in my apps from Google backup which was set up by my gnex and that had both installed. I'm not complaining, I like chrome fine... I'm just wondering.
Update: never mind... As usual, with such questions, I stumbled across the answer 5 minutes after I posted. Sorry for the noise.

Browsing history

Hey guys,
I ve searched the forums for this question but couldn't find anything.....
So at the danger of sounding retarded, here goes, how do you access your browsing history (stock browser)? I tried the usual ''file://history'' and had no luck

When you say stock browser do you mean chrome? I dont have my nexus yet(its on the ups truck scheduled for delivery today) so I dont know which browsers are on it. I came across this article for chrome. Hope it helps. http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39...-clear-browsing-history-on-chrome-for-mobile/

FriendCaster - News Feed Updates?

Has anybody noticed that Friendcaster does not stay as updated as Facebook on a browser? Some post are listed on Friendcaster and others are not. I've also experienced multiple reboots while using Facebook within Chrome.
Thoughts?
Heavy Android User, but have been using our iPad 3 and hate to has this but itching towards getting another. The one I had been using is for the wife and the little one.
I realize it may take time for apps to be fully defaulted for the Nexus 10 and that is why I may just need to be patient.
Thanks.
I believe this is due to permissions that people can set on Facebook that prevent third party apps from seeing their status updates.

[Q] Torrent clients **** up my Nexus 7. Anyone else tried this?

Hi there
Now I have tried two torrent clients; tTorrent and aTorrent Beta. EDIT: and now also uTorrent!
With both clients I have tried to download Game of Thrones season 1, but every time I leave it, a couple of minutes later, my Nexus screen is either frozen or turned off.
Then I have to hold the power button for 20-30 sec, and then it reboots.
I have uninstalled both of them again, because it's certainly those programs making the issues. Have someone tried the same thing? EDIT: You think it has something to do with the file I download? Just weird, since it looks legit (many seeders/leechers).
Specs:
Nexus 7 - rooted
Custom ROM: PA 2.56, CM based
franco kernel
Try adownloader. Haven't had a problem yet. Although I'm not using a custom ROM. I'm just unlocked rooted and have trinity's kernel. So may be an issue with the ROM. But just try adownloader see if it works fine. Works(ed) on my dx2 sinc2 and my nexus7 without any problems so if something happens could be ROM or kernel. Also I'm on 4.2.1 and not having any issues.

I haven't had any issues with uTorrent. Used it about a dozen times for small torrents.

+1 for 'adownloader new', I've tried multiple torrent clients, and this one is the best. uTorrent froze my phone (or tablet, I can't remember where I tried it), others are limited to certain speed or number of downloads (free ones, that is).
The only problem I've had with adownloader is, that it sometimes doesn't start downloading if I open torrent directly from chrome (download, and click on it in notifications). Opening torrent from adownloader directly works w/o problems (or from file explorer)
If you suspect the file, download some Ubuntu, those are 100% legit (from official website)
Okay, thanks for for responses. Maybe it's the ROM or kernel then.
I could maybe also be the size of torrent (5,5gb)?
My Nexus 7 usually hangs when trying to download a torrent. I have trying tTorrent.
I am using Jelly Belly Rom v11 with Franco kernel r30

Had the same issue with my Nexus 7, running Trinity kernel and stock ROM. Using atorrent (not beta or pro), since it is on one of my favorite sites white list. Since updating the kernel and switching to CleanRom, I haven't had this happen since. Still using atorrent.
The only other insight I can offer from my findings is that it would happen when the number of connections would exceed roughly 25 connections.
Okay, cool. Thanks for the answers everyone.
It's not crucial I can download from it, would be cool though. Guess I'll wait till I update it some day!

I too experience bad performance on my nexus 7 with torrent clients. The protocol is heavy on cryptography so I wonder if the new entropy mod will hero l help
No problems at all. Stock. Using ttorrent

I use the torrent app. Not seeing bad battery life or performance issue on stock 4.2.1.

It's kinda disappointing to hear that many people have had problems torrenting on the N7 since that was one of the first things I planned to set up. I'll probably give it a go anyway to see what happens, but after reading through this thread I don't have high hopes for the result.
I have noticed mine starts getting laggy and freezing up when download speeds are over 1MB/sec. This is using atorrent.

I guess it's cus I've done so much tweaking and changing on my nexus. It seems that all stock nexus' are just fine. Thanks for all the comments!

You could always pay for HBO. And then just download HBO Go app and watch each episode without any issues.

Not an option, since the HBO app doesn't work on rooted devices. And of course my device is rooted

That's pretty good - posting while dead.
If you insist on staying unrooted, then your only option is to install a different browser from the Google Play store
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=web+browser&c=apps
Getting just the .apk file for the AOSP stock browser and side-loading it won't work - the pre-installed BrowserProviderProxy.{apk, odex} applications in the stock ROM will prevent it from working correctly.
FWIW, the AOSP browser only "kinda" works even on a stock ROM (even when BrowserProviderProxy.{apk, odex} have been removed from /system/app) - it freezes quite a lot - especially when browsing XDA ... LOL
But I know where you are coming from - Chrome really needs to be able to do text reflow on a 7" tablet (and IMO the bookmark thumbnails are much nicer in the AOSP browser too).

Play Store App flickers when downloading. Anybody?

I'm not sure if this has been discussed or not on the forms here. This is kind of hard to explain..Whenever I'm browsing in the Play Store app on the N10, during a download the app itself flickers (almost like its refreshing) whenever the percentage moves during the downloading process. This has happened way before the updates to the Play Store app as well. I'm running CM 10.1 (Nightly) and the issue is still there. This was one of the first things I noticed when I was running stock too. I was kind of hoping that Play Store Version 4.0.26 fixed it but I guess not.
Has anybody noticed this issue? I highly doubt this a hardware related issue. Games seem to run awesome on it.
Any ideas?
- Brian
I have had the same issue since I got mine in December, running stock.
I've had this issue under JB 4.2 and ICS 4.0 on an Acer a500 and the Nexus N10, no fix found yet.
I get this too… it seems to me like a refresh issue, like the Play Store is trying to load up other images or something. Since no other app does this, I'm pretty sure it's just an app issue.
I've seen it on every rom, every version of the play Store... It may be the refresh for the download causing issues

Omg, it just refreshes. Is that so annoying?

Yes, because it makes scrolling through 'My Apps' a royal PITA. And sometimes, if its particularly fickle, it keeps returning to one single app over and over.
Thanks for the reply back guys. I didn't know if it was a hardware related or if its just a bug in the app itself. I see that version 4.0,27 got released today. Hopefully this will help!
@bahehs..Do you have jokes or something? I remember my first beer.

Still flickers for me, but at least it doesn't reset to the top of the list every time it flickers now.
Same issue when I'm viewing all my apps during download. Since I can now scroll through my apps during download I don't worry about it much anymore.

When I'm updating multiple apps, it will keep refreshing the first one to the point that I can't click on the next app in line to be updated, because I want to see what the new update has added or changed.
I have the same issue (flickering shop) on my Nexus 7. I've noticed that it happens while downloading larger files, especially games. Sometimes it freezes Google Play completely.
So far I haven't noticed it on my Nexus 10. (But it has different version of Google Play, as far as I can tell).
The latest play store 4.xx resolved my flickers.

Yup, flashing, barely able to see what was going on be it downloading an app or copying a film from a flash drive. Installed AOPK and it is fixed, one solid moving bar as it ought to be.
Mine does this as well. I just leave the play store so I don't have to deal with it. Completely stock.
I get this with paranoid android, but had it before changing. It not only flickers, but when I'm downloading, say, Gmail, and go to another app while in the "My Apps" view, it will revert back to Gmail. Very annoying.
