I've just installed CyanogenMod 10 on my motorola defy plus using this guide but im having one problem so far:
repeated annoying message: "Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped"
I cant use the keyboard
Any advice? I am doing something wrong or is it a common bug? How it can be solved?

I had the same problem when I tried Kayant's Slim Bean ROM.
Try clearing cache / dalvik. If it doesn't work, Wipe Data and reflash.
When it still didn't work for me, I moved to another ROM, which solved the issue.
Solved
I Just solved this issue by installing JellyX Kernel Now I have some other problems to solve but thanks for the reply
I related this problem due to using the 4.2 Gapps on 4.1.2
The solution is even simpler:
Go into menu/system/apps and find Android Keyboard (ASOP) and CLEAR DATA. Then do the same for Dictionary Provider and CLEAR DATA.
Wow, good timing...

I have to thank for their efforts previous posters who advise changing operating system to solve an issue, but I prefer this one... Thanks!

Thanks for the advice although I can't seem to find the Dictionary Provider app on my ROM. (I'm using Paranoid Android as a custom ROM)
I tried everything, wiping data on phone, wiping cache and dalvik, and clearing data on the keyboard itself. Any help?
I can't do basic tasks like wifi password and such.
EDIT: btw, im using a rogers s3 on cm10 4.1.2

Mate, have the same problem at the moment trying to work my way thru it, I installed 4.2 gapps by mistake.
ended up install hackers keyboard to allow me to get a keyboard up (google for hackers apk).
then set hackers keyboard as the primary input
Used file manager with root access to delete all the latinime apks.(system\apps)
interestingly. pretty sure, after reinstalling gapps the latinime didnt install :|
so phone broken ATM, still.
ps just tried to flash twrp 2.11 in a bid to get some wipe function going to system partition... now no recovery - going to be a long day I can tell.

thanks!
have you tried with custom froyo roms? or you can try to flash ms2ginger, you can flash theese roms from the sd card.
you can find them here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Motorola_Defy

Can you provide more info? What test version? Did you install gapps? We can't help with what you provided.
Had something similar when moving to 2.1. Full wipe including formatting and re-partitioning the SD card fixed that.

Running 5.0.7T7. I installed gapps. When I first load the rom I'm able to download but once I restore with Titanium Backup thats when the market problem occurs.

I will try this when I have some time. thanks
Don't use Titanium, so am not sure how much it backs up - but could this have overwritten your new market and thus causing an issue - does it give you an option to choose what you want to restore?
If you didn't WIPE when going from 4 to 5 then you need to, as Cyanogen has stated not doing so can and probably will cause errors.
(Especially makes sense when I consider that when jumped major versions before rooting the OFA did wipe my phone - thats when I decided to pay for MyBackup Pro).

Hi guys!
I´m having this very annoying issue with my galaxy...
As soon as i open the dialer and try to punch in some numbers, the application just ends! Same thing goes if i try to access the call logs directly, just chrashes (not FC´s) right back to the homescreen!!
I have to open the dialer like 4-5 times before eventually being able to do anything at all with it.
Tried factory reset, didn´t work
Phone is a galaxy with 2.3.3 with JVH and 2.6.35.7 kernel, rooted
Please help!

Already did that, and dalvik and also fixed permissions in the recovery menu, still no effect
I also have this problem, including with stock JVH.
I have tried a lot, including:
Flashing a different lower firmware and upgrading through Kies.
Doing full reflashes though Odin.
Uninstalling all apps and reinstalling one by one (but the problem has been impossible to pinpoint
Taking all contacts of my Exchange account, going through them one by one, exporting them and reimporting them to fix any issue with those.
Clearing all caches, etc
Nothing has helped so I finally just installed another dialer from the market and with this there have been no problems. It's very annoying though because I like the stock apps.
Try searching for phone.apk for jvh an then replace it on system/app by using root explorer or other file manager
U could also download another dialer like (Go Dialer) but when u search at the market search Go Contacts it will install dialer with contacts list.. after that-(optional) go to system/app change phone.apk for phone.apk.bak.. this will delete the phone but u will keep it saved on system/app when u want it back just rename it phone.apk

flash 3 file js8 repartition pit / factory reset from cwm / flash jvq + you might want to factory reset here -> test for fc -> no fc
then you might root or whatever and dicover what breaks it

I´m not following? are you suggesting that i reflash the phone with a new rom? i like the stock one so that doesn´t do it for me..
youve got some mess on system partition that is resulting in phone aplication fatal errors that closes it (btw can you copypaste logcat part when this app fails)
aside there might be other modules not working as suposed that you are not noticing because they do not force close but they can for example make some proceses not go into idle = more battery consumed idk there might be a milion things that are going wrong due this incompatybility
by this flash order i suggest you to revert to froyo and do a factory reset there (because ive noticed myself tons of times factory reset failing on all gb releases and never on froyo - must be some gb/ or maybe rooting issue) and ive noticed new files not beeing copied on fresh fw instalation because of that all that on gb and never while upgrading from froyo
what i am proposing here is flash order that is always working for me and ive developed it after countles hours of reflashes - and hey i never had any drain any force close problems =)
thats just friendly xda advice - make it or not i do not care but i would be happy if that would help you
common issue also is reverting backup files from previous system version to current one (people restore system files from eg jve to jvq and are amazed that their phone forcloses on most apps or somrthing) you can not use some system files backup from previous on current firmware
So how do i do this then? bare in mind that i´ve never flashed a phone...ever
just a second, i will find youa nice tutorial =) refresh after like 10 minutes ;]]]
Thanks a billion!!
My advise,
Flash the original stock rom you want, (not any deodexed rom!)
Flash the kernel you want via odin
Reboot into recovery mode
Do "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition"
Don't restore any backup

Funny thing, i actually downloaded Go Contacts in order to do a contact backup, but that´s actually a better dialer and call log app than the stock one
I´m thinking of maybe keeping this one instead of the stock one for now?

If you read that post carefully you would
know that dalvik cache is different from cache!!
If that doesn't wipe data..
Last option is to reflash!!

well mostly all the bugs!

What do you mean? I've downloaded my rom from these thread:

and tried to flash with installer from modaco.
i have the same problem with this rom. The apn connection is fine but whenever i connect to wifi i have to reboot my phone for it to transfer data but after awhile it stop again and i have to reboot again.

I didn't see much negative effects made by the V6 Supercharger than the KA Kernelizer Tweak (which completely destroyed my phone ).
if a reflash or wipe doesn't solve the bugs
then i think it is a hardware problem!!
quickly get a warranty before they run out of stock
as they are not selling GT540 anymore!!
i've reflashed back to rc3 and everything work fine but when i flash rc5 i got the same problem again.
Wonder what i did wrong???
And i even flash back to rom 2.1 (with kdz and it really scare me) and connection is really fast so i dont think it s because of the hardware

then i think it might be the system partitions that are
creating this problem..
but i don't know to much about partitions..
I recently upgraded to Miui 1.10.21 and get constant "no service" outages. The only quick resolution is to head to Network Settings and search for an operator (TMO) or auto search. I wish I could pin point an action that causes the outage but it just seems so random.
When I upgraded I did wipe dalvik cache and wipe cache.
I use Clockwork.
Any ideas? Its getting damn annoying. Thanks in advance.

ya. as above. use ksubedi`s HD2 NAND Toolkit. Its really a Godsend!! Just follow the instruction and use it, 2nd time u will be a pro!
I am seriously not sure its worth it. I have been tweaking this ROM for a few days. While I absolutely love it, I really don't want to reinstall apps, contacts (which are not seemless), etc. I really am at a loss.
I may try, from Clockwork, backup and restore, wipe/wipe, reinstall and see where that goes.
Haven't you seen the sign that says "Developing Forum" ?
Please, next time post your questions in the Q&A sub-forums, not in the dev-ing .

i can't help you here cause I havnt installed ics yet but this is just a thought.... did you try one of these two things yet to solve the problem?
1. Do a full wipe before you flashed the rom?
2. Have you tried re-downloading the rom zip cause it may have been corrupted somehow during the download?
Maybe this has helped, if not maybe your Xoom maybe faulty?

Did you restore system apps or system data after the wipe you had to do? This would mess up your wifi as well as email, probably. Just reflash the nightly and the gapps and wipe cache and dalvik cache and you should be good to go on reboot.
