Is there a skype version (maybe modified) that also works in portrait mode?
I can only use landscape and it's very annoying..

There is a app called for ''Orientation control''. It works great on HTC One X, try it.
In the Google market, there's a time around November? I think where they made the update and you can see people complaining. I don't remember the exact version, but if you can find the version just prior to that, you can use portrait mode again. It's more than just orientation control -- Skype also adjusts the outgoing camera picture.
I think you're looking for the last version before 3.0. I'm going to have to dig the link up myself so if I find it I'll post it here.
EDIT: Try this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31041722&postcount=2396

Pictures taken in PORTRAIT (with just holding the phone straight up) do not save EXIF data correctly, and are shared as LANDSCAPE when "Shared" to Messaging, Gmail, etc. This is ****ing embarrassing.
You can try out Camera 360. I love that app and use it as my default photo app, I have the paid version. It might resolve your issue. Since I have not gotten my phone yet I cannot test to see if it works.
Link to free version.

You sure it's not just your web browser, or Gmail? I haven't checked in a while, but Exif rotational data was rarely used in browsers in recent history. Try opening your photo using the new version of Picasa to see if it's rotated correctly.
No, it is still screwed up. Take a picture in portrait. Then click "Share" to Messaging, Gmail, Facebook, whatever. It will preview as a sideways (landscape) photo, thus looking stupid.
It does preview that way, have you confirmed it sends that way?
Picture related, my panorama shots do not work, I get panorama failed pop up

Yes, I've confirmed that it "shares" that way to Messaging, Gmail and Picasa, and of course Facebook.
Interestingly enough, the original Droid has this problem. It doesn't seem to bother anyone. This is a huge bummer. No idea how to fix this.
Also after taking a photo, and previewing it, the whole screen orientation is in Landscape, no matter what you do. Keyboard open, keyboard closed - all the same. That's frustrating as well. Anyone got any ideas or insight?
Try using a photo editor such as PicSay and rotating the picture into landscape. Then maybe when you send it, it will send the right way
That definitelyorks, although I prefer Photoshop Express. But that is an honest unecessary hassle.

Bugs the hell out of me.
As far as I can tell there is no portrait mode on the Epic - that's why all of the controls are locked to landscape mode and rotating the phone doesn't do shiz.
I really hope they fix this.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The EVO 4G used to be like that, but in the Froyo 2.2 update they made it so the controls will auto-orientate to portrait mode. But, when you used to take photos pre-Froyo, they would always rotate correctly.
I've been rotating my photos in Photoshop Express but holy **** it compresses the hell out of them, making them go from 1MB~ to almost 30kB. Anyone have any ideas?
Same issue on my Vibrant

Maybe our Froyo update will fix the whole shebang. I really hope that Samsung didn't just frak me over with a crippled crappy phone that doesn't get bug fixes like they did with my Intrepid (the bastard child of Windows Mobile and Samsung) - Galaxy S is their flagship and they need to get on top of stuff.
I am not getting this issue. Can you give me the steps to duplicate it?
I pressed the camera button.
I took a portait picture.
I went into gallery.
I shared with both Picasa and emailed via gmail to myself.
In both it was displayed as Portait.
I noticed this last night. It's extremely annoying. Have to go on photoshop express as well.

Again, I am not getting this issue at all. Can someone detail how to duplicate it?
This could be a usage pattern thing. I detailed how I did it, and it works fine. What are you guys doing differently? If needed I can make a video showing that it works for me.

I am doing the exact same thing as what you're doing, and still getting pictures showing up as landscape, when they were taken with the phone held straight up.
Do you notice after you take a picture and click the PLAY button from the camera UI, the whole "preview" mode is in landscape?

No, in preview they are also correctly in Landscape. Perhaps you need to have the phone in portrait when you start the camera application?
Even while the camera app is loaded I took one picture in Landscape, then Portrait. Both displayed correctly in preview and after emailing.
I can feel your frustration though, that would be lame if it didn't do that. I will make a video tonight, not sure if it will help, but it might give you hope. As a last resort maybe you should try a hard reset back to defaults? I hate to recommend that, but it might work. Seeing as mine works and I have not tweaked anything camera related.
p.s. This might not be related, but I did not get the OTA patch after starting my phone, my GF's epic did. So my phone shipped already patched. I will test her camera tonight as well.
Settings > About Phone > Hardware Version = D700.0.5
my phone does the same thing and it annoys me A LOT
Anyone try Oovoo mobile on their epic (supposedly supported)? I can connect on a video call from my epic to my wifes laptop but we cannot see each others video.
I have the same exact problem.
Same here

I tried it yesterday, worked fine connecting my phone to my laptop (made 2 different accounts to try it out). Rooted stock 2.1.
I heard that you have to use the 3.0 beta on your desktop though.
thank you, i would have never known about the desktop beta version.
It works perfectly now.

On question about this app...
When you do 1-1 video chat, does it only show video on landscape view, and not on portrait view? Thats how it is for me on the Evo even if holding the phone on portrait angle. I was video chatting with someone at a PC so dont know if that had anything to do with the inability for the cam to rotate to portrait view.
thanks- the beta version for windows did the trick!!
Some times people don't read!, it clearly states on the description
"Talk & see your friends on the go! Please ask PC friends to download ooVoo ver. 3.0 beta to video-chat with you from: www.oovoo.com"
Sent from Maxwell's shoe.
I also noticed that when I am signed into my oovoo account AND the program is running in the background (icon on taskbar) I can no longer answer the phone!! The phone rings and the oovoo screen comes up as if its trying to answer the phone- anyone else see this?
so I don't like or want to use any of the available browsers, the stock one with tweaks works for me. except one thing....when using forums, which is probably 90% of my browsing, is using several different forum boards.
when you try to create a new three, reply to an existing one, etc. when the keyboard pops up it moves your active text up out of sight. its hard to use it for this when you can't see what you typed, especially with autocoerect turned on it makes posting in forums rather difficult.
is there any fix?
This belongs in general.

Try using Tapatalk to browse the forums.
I meant to say tapatalk is not an option for a most forums I go to.....
Its not the stock browser causing the issue. I gave the same problem with dolphin Hd. I found it works fine when you use it in portrait mode. Landscape isn't useable. I'm running super clean 2.4 btw

x2...happens even in portrait mode for me. Figured they'd find away to leave the screen centered on the cursor.
Hi Guys,
Just made the switch from my old Xperia x1 to an unlocked G2 that I found on ebay. Rooted it within a minute of it arriving and now wondering what rom to load. I really want the OTA 2.3.4 update but also want it rooted so think i'll wait on that. I also read that some ROMs have buggy landscape modes. Can anyone recommend one that fully works in landscape mode. I got the phone becuase I like the keyboard so would be annoying if the rom didnt support landscape very well.
Thanks
Darren
Just as an FYI there's a pre-rooted version of the OTA that just came out yesterday. There aren't a ton of testers but it seems to be working.
I haven't had a ton of chances to play with all the Sense offerings (don't really care for Sense) but the versions of Virtuous Unity have had working landscape. Many times just using a non-stock launcher can fix landscape issues. Launcher Pro and ADW have always rotated properly for me.

Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202498
I've been using it the past day and it works great in landscape. Also any stock roms/cm7 work well with landscape, miui roms don't and i find sense roms too slow switching to landscape.
Hi sorry coming back on this again.
If I flash a rom, say the Vision sense 3.0 that doesnt support landscape yet. Does it just mean that only the sense UI wont rotate on keyboard pullout and that apps like messaging, email, browser etc will 'still' rotate and keyboard function fine. Or does all that stuff stop rotating as well?
Thanks
Hi
I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread with found bugs in the 2.3.3 software for the X10. Please report other bugs here.
Audio Stutter

Anyone more than me with f**ked-up calls? You can't hear the other parts. Just some strange noisenoise. Happened yesterday, and today.

Your camera does not work in Portrait mode?
Or you mean the menu does not rotate?
In my X10, camera DOES work in Portrait mode...
Even Upside down, it will work...
But the menu stay in Landscape mode only...
Why not just say the menu does not rotate...
Instead of saying camera does not work?
Is your camera stop taking picture in Portrait mode?
It might be a feature and not a bug...
bugs for me:
- unable to open any https webpage in any of the browsers (dolphin,stock,opera...)
- when going to m.facebook.com and clicking any external link it does not work, tried all the browsers
These 2 features used to work perfectly on 2.1
Yes, you are right. The menu of the camera is not rotating from landscape to potrait. for me it feels like a bug.

I don't have any issue accept RAM. Although it's low but the phone run smooth.
there's a similar thread here fyi
Ok, the camera menu seems like a bug.
continuing in that thread then. Thanks
I personally think this is a better thread with the bugs in the first post. I'll read the other One though. Not all issues in the other thread are bugs...
- ugly looking UI & apps,
- one way camera UI,
- music app much behind from Mediascape (o.k., equalizer, but the rest is crap)
- calendar like from stone age, useless
- not any connection between UI of stock apps, like they were doing a car from different company spare parts
- ...
I'm still on 2.1.B.0.1, rooted and JIT.
Regards, Zagor
Im closing this cause there is already a 2.3.3 issues thread
