So I run wifi tether on my droid x2 and it works perfectly fine with most everything (laptop, desktop, xbox, etc.) however my nexus 7 (4.2.1) does not pick up the signal at all. It never shows up on the list of networks. I tried different channels but same result. I also had issues trying to connect with bluetooth on foxfi but still no luck. Any ideas?

Hey all, I can't seem to get my Xoom to connect to my incredible that is running the wifi hotspot app. I am guessing that is because it is an ad-hoc network. Anybody know of a work around?
I was having the same problem with my Droid. I ended up using the Bluetooth option and connected my Xoom to that. Works great.
i had the same issue with my d2g. i reinstalled from the market and changed the channel to ch. 8. now i'm tethering in high gear.
Hello everyone I just got my Nexus 7 last night and am trying to tether it to my Motorola Milestone X to get internet when I am not by a wifi connection. I installed the program on my phone and tested it out before buying the Nexus 7 using another smartphone and that phone was able to connect to my foxfi connection and go onto the internet.
When I go into settings and look for foxfi under the wireless connections I do see foxfi and am able to connect to it but where it shows the signal strength is is all grey where as when I am at home connected to my wifi connection it is blue? I try to connect to the internet and nothing happens. I have tried looking on the internet on a solution but have not found any. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure you're getting an IP?
Have you tried using any other apps such as barnacle or WiFi tether?
are you able to connect to any other wireless networks via your nexus 7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app while tethering from my RAZR Maxx using FoxFi
running cm 7.1 and tried 7.2 on the droid inc.
trying to wifi tether to Google nexus 7.
either the ssid will not appear and when it occasionally does, can not connect to ip.
seems to connect with my laptop and my Galaxy S3 hotspot works with the nexus 7.
what am I missing?
I have my Nexus 7 running Stock 4.1.2 (rooted). At home I have 3 AP's running the same SSID and on Different channels. My Nexus 7 will connect to one of them when I get home, but when I move to another part of the house where the initial signal isn't very strong it does not automatically jump to the closest AP. I have to manually turn of the WiFi and turn it back on.
All my other devices work fine and as expected. These include Laptops (PC and Mac), iPhone(s), iPad, and Blackberry.
Any tips on how to make this work on the Nexus 7? Is this an Android thing? A Nexus thing? Has anyone ever heard of this before?
I'm trying desperately to tether my phone's data (rooted HTC One on Sprint) to my 1st gen Nexus 7.
With the android-wifi-tether app, I can broadcast it as 802.11n, but my Nexus 7 can't pick up the "n" signal - is there any way to get wireless n radio on the Nexus?
I've also tried bluetooth pairing and selecting the "share internet connection", but every time I tick the box, it automatically unchecks itself?
Or if all that is impossible, is there a way I can do it directly via USB?
The Nexus 7 isn't rooted yet but I'm totally open to doing that if it would help.
Thanks
Try jtether from Google play, its free and most likely will work
Wow, I have spent hours and trying different tether applications and nothing ever worked.
jbtether didn't either.. until I rebooted both devices. Now it's flawless.
Thanks!!!
