How to get $188. I just placed an order, $217 include tax.
I cannot stack any other coupons on top of $199(before the tax).

I was able to return/ rebuy my HD+ that I picked up on BF. If you have bought your nook from BF on, you have until January 12th to return your nook at staples.
You saved me 70 bucks!! Thanks
Thank you for the heads up!
I've been running a rooted Nook Touch for quite some time, as well as an older Nook Color with CM installed. I'm actually on the verge of looking for a larger tablet that can better handle PDFs, and had almost passed on the HD+ until I saw this deal...
That said... For those of you with the HD+, how would you compare the experience with the rooted CM10 HD+ to the stock unit? I used the stock reader on the HD+ to look at a larger PDF in the B&N store, and it was absolutely terrible. I'm not entirely keen on having to rely on dev supported workarounds in order to have the hardware work, but for 200 bucks, I might look the other way. My other runnerup is the Lenovo A2109. Though it has a so-so screen, the hardware and other functionality seems to be great. It's also available for about $230, making the price point quite attractive for a 9" tablet.
If the HD+ experience post root and CM10 hugely improves on the capabilities of the hardware, when compared to the B&N stock software, then I may have have to reconsider it. Did you all find the tablet to be much improved?
I'd appreciate any feedback you all can throw at me! That Staples price makes this very, very tempting.

I would not say the CM10 is any faster than stock HD+. In fact the nook reader is much worse on CM10 than stock. I don't know what you were using to read that PDF on stock, but the stock nook app on stock was very smooth and fast reading a magazine and very choppy using the nook app on CM10. And the post root does not change the underlying speed of stock, just makes it so you have access to more apps. So maybe you could run adobe reader that does a better job than the stock reader for PDF.

Low cost sleeve for HD+
This sleeve is good quality (was sold by verizon for ~$40) and fits the Nook HD+ very well. Lengthwise the nook just fits, while there is a little bit of extra space vertically. The nook slides in easily, but is not loose. The edges all around have a hardened seam which might help protect the nook if dropped on the edge. The sleeve is not flimsy, but I would expect it to protect the screen only from minor impacts.
It has been on sale for as low as $1. I'd say it's still a good value at $5 as the alternative is some poor quality neoprene sleeve. It has a small verizon logo on the front which is hardly noticable. If I see them go on sale again I will probably buy another.
URL:bensoutlet.com/products/verizon-deluxe-leather-tablet-sleeve
I imagine they're on clearance due to many 10" tablets not being able to fit.
Nice post I was going to give the heads up too.
Things of note if you go and by it off the shelf it will cost regular price. If you reserve it at your local store from the website you can get the sale price and have it within an hour. I took mine back to BN drove across the street and pocketed $70... love it.

When I went to get mine I just mentioned to the cashier that the price on their website was $199. They checked online to confirm the price then price matched their own website.

the 22nd? heh, nope. the price is already back up.
I actually had it in my cart at the lower price and....I dunno what happened...I lost the page and was gonna redo it but the price had changed.
Saw this on woot community deals Sunday. Ordered. Got it Tuesday, wow.fast. Made a sd card with Verygreen's CM10 and am rocking. Went back on Staples.com to verify price before I told anyone but the price had already gone back to regular.
Just to post an update...
The price has indeed increased. I suspect Staples ran out of stock, and removed the discount. That said, I swung by Staples last night, and decided to give the HD+ a try. Manager matched the online price, and I was out the door for 199 and tax.
Impressions? CM10 via SD card is vastly superior to the stock B&N offering. It feels snappier, and rendered my PDFs much quicker than the HD+ store demo unit running B&N's version of ICS. I was actually quite surprised at just how much better the tablet feels and performs. For $199, it was quite the steal. I figured if I didn't like it, I could simply return it to Staples and find something else, but as it stands, there's nothing that would make me want to do that. It's a great piece of bang for the buck hardware, and the screen is fantastic.
SanDisk?

Do you have a SanDisk microSD card? I tried it with a GSkill and it's a bit laggy, and nearly unusable in the browser. I'm getting a SanDisk today. Hopefully that fixes my problem.
I have tried Lexar Class 10 32GB card w/o any problem or show any lagg.

Hello, im looking for the best tablet i can get for about $400 ($500 if bestbuy has it for a decent price). I was thinking about getting this. I plan on watching movies on it and browsing the web. I'll prob never leave the house with it. Do you guys think this would be worth getting?
All the software is pretty much the same with the exception of the XOOM because it's on Android 3.2.
What it comes down to is the price and hardware.
Galaxy Tab: Slimness, Light, no MicroSD
Transformer: Cheap, IPS screen, dock (extended battery life, 2 USBs), microSd
Acer: 1 USB on the tablet itself, microSD
etc etc.... make your decision quick, -$100 coupon is available @ staples with some other retailers honoring their coupon as well.

Should i get the transformer or wait?
How do i use the -$100 coupon? thanks.
Here's my list of all the tablets I've owned and returned before sticking with the transformer-
-Toshiba thrive- dim screen compared to transformer, brick, lots of ports though, don't see it having a lot of support
-transformer- liked it but wanted to try some others
-galaxy tab- nice screen(transformers just as nice), thin/light, no ports or SD support(why samsung?), very soft plastic surrounding screen, got dinged/knicked with hardly any use(this is the one my wife decided to keep, wasn't for me though)
-xoom- screen isn't that bad, but transformer/gtab10.1 screen is noticeably better, brick(didn't bother me , just putting it out there as It's probably the heaviest), power button on back is sometimes annoying, immediate updates wasn't worth the trade for decrease in screen quality to me
Now I'm back to the transformer to stay. Its got the perfect balance of ports/size/looks/accessories to warrant me keeping it over the others. the fact that its the cheapest out of all of them is just an added bonus.
Alright, I decided to go with the transformer after reading reviews / looking in other sections. Does anyone know the cheapest place in the US to buy them?

Try starting with the Staples coupon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177461 is the read. Try going through them. From what I've been told,
- Office depot will honor the coupon for Transformer ONLY if the nearby Staples have the Transformer in stock.
- Go to Staples and see if they have the Transformer
Newegg and Amazon have pretty good values for Transformer if you can't get a purchase with the Staples coupon.
@curti.nogg: Absolutely. I was just giving a list of features on the top of my head.
Only thing I dislike about the Transformer is the charger cable is really short but I have a USB3 M-F extender so that fixed it.
Thanks so much.

Good luck! Hope to see more posts from you in the future in the Transformer forums.
I've really been looking around for a tablet. I don't want to spend any more than $300. I would like a tablet that has good dev support but is also a nice device. I don't care if I have to buy it off of ebay for me to get it in my price range. I like 7" and 10" preferably with a dual core. Any suggestions?
Edit: I would also like for it to most likely be able to run honeycomb in the future. Official or not.
The Acer Iconia A100 just came out with an MSRP of $329, I'm sure it will get a lot of attention by the development community.
At that price, the nook color is probably you're best bet.
I personally am a netbook user.

It's getting pretty mediocre reviews so far.
+1 at the price mentioned, nookCOLOR running CM7
Normally I would agree with the NC, but only if trying to spend around $200. For $129 more (new vs recert), you get:
Dual core 1Ghz processor (vs NC single 800Mhz)
Mini-HDMI
Honeycomb 3.2
1GB RAM vs 512MB
Front and rear camera
Is the Nook Color rooted with CM7 worth buying? Or is it better to pony up a little more for one of the more robust tablets?

Depends on what you want to do with it.
You can browse the web, play games like Angry Birds, watch Netflix, listen to Pandora or Google Music, read epub books...
I recommend buying recertified to get the most value. I bought mine from Overstock and you could not tell it was not new. $199 shipped. Ebay has them for $180 shipped.
Nook Color with CM7 is your best bet if you can live without Bluetooth. (Well technically there is an on board bluetooth chip that has been enabled in CM7 but without an antenna it's range is about 2 inches
No cameras....but the only time I have heard of a camera being used on a tablet it was a punchline in a comics joke.
Bottom line, Nook Color is the best $200 I ever spent. Only missing piece for me is bluetooth.
What about the gtab. Do you think its a good buy if I can get one for 240 with a dock?

For that price, he'd be better of going to staples.com using the 100$ rebate off tablets, then get a toshiba thrive for 329 [after 100$ off] for the 8gb model, then just use a bigger sd card, along with all the full ports.

I think I'll look into getting a refurb Nook color.
hello all. So first off let me give you a little background info about myself just so you know my standpoint. I am noob to the nook scene although I have lurked around the forums for some time now along with various youtube videos. My dilema though is on purchasing one. I wanted to know if it makes sense to buy a used one should i go with the refurb deal on amazon OR the deal on ebay for 50$ off a new one. The used deal would save me around $90 while the refurb would save $60 and the new discounted deal would save $50. The real question I guess is buying used with nook colors reputable.
Thanks a ton in advance!
p.s. Im looking for a good case and a 16gb sd card recommend away

Buying used really just depends on who you are buying from. Refurbs are as good as new.

so a site like overstock selling used nooks would probably not be a good option because they are selling them for $160

If I remember correctly the overstock deal are for certified pre-owned which is just a fancy word for refurb.

I have read that overstock is shipping new nook colors as refurbished. Their refurbs have the b&n warranty. I got mine from buy.com but b&n shipped it.

You may want to wait just a little longer, New nook colors are on there way. Google news is buzzing about them.
Word is the "new Nook Color" will be a 10" at $350, and the current NC is staying right where it is in B&N's product line.

I picked up a Sandisk 16GB class 4 on amazon prime for $20 shipped. Works like a champ. Am getting a second one to make backups of, on top of the image backups and titanium backup.
So I've debating switching up to the 32gb version. When I got my note, they only had 16gb in stock. They said to check on Tues. And Thurs as that's when they get in new shipments. So I called today to see if 32gb came in yet. The girl checks her computer and she tells me the 32gb version has actually been deleted from their system. Meaning they will not carry it. I guess they will only carry 16gb version.
Has anyone actually purchased a 32gb from Bestbuy? Or has anyone heard anything like I described? Strange that it would be deleted since its so new. I'm skeptical that she is correct. If she is right, I now have to decide whether I keep the 16gb version or go get my money back. Then find another brick & mortar store that sells the 32gb. I like BB return policy though. Which states I have 30 days to exchange or get a refund if I wish. I paid in cash so I'd want a cash refund. Store credit wouldn't be any good if they never plan to carry 32gb.
What other B&M stores are carrying the 32gb note 10.1?
8/24 UPDATE:
Well I came to the conclusion that 16gb wasn't enough. So I just returned my 16gb to best buy and had them order me the 32gb version. Its deep gray. I really wish they had the white one in that size. They only had gray. The difference I had to pay for uprade in storage space was $52. It will arrive by 8/30 to that best buy location. Didn't want to take any chances having it delivered to my residence and the delivery people leave it sitting outside my door..lol
I got tired of seeing my storage space decrease fast and I haven't even really begun to install everything I want. Games take up the most room. Nova3 alone is almost 2gb. I have alot of great games THST I paid for already that I want to install. Like Broken Sword for example. So me getting 32gb will give me more than enough room to store my games and movies I download. I can easily fill up the 32gb also but at least I have more to work with initially. 16gb out the box equates to only 11gb storage left to use. Didn't want to have to resort to deleting stuff constantly to make room. Then I eventually want to root and flash device. So the backup will take some space also. I'm managing my 16gb Nexus 7 well but I don't need so much installed on it. As its my more portable device and only needs the best and essential apps.
Well my wait begins. I'm posting this from my Nexus 7. I miss the Note 10.1 already lol. I'm ready for 8/30 to hurry up and get here. It'll be here either next wed. Or before. Plenty of time to keep reading up on things and to find a good case.

So does this mean you are giving up on the infinity? Not trying to be a ball buster, actually value your opinion. You have been ASUS biggest supporter when they needed one and now it looks like you are going to the dark side ( or the bright side depending on how you look at it). I trully cannot decide if I should keep my infinity or not. I have definitively said I was keeping the infinity twice and everyday I wonder if I am doing the right thing, especially as I hear how JB is just a big a mess on the 300t as all the prime issues.
So, what is your call? Is the Note the way to go and does the screen resolution really make a difference?
Why pay 50 bucks more for a 32 when you can buy a 32 GB sdcard for under 50 bucks and have 48?

Because you can't store installed app data on sdcard anymore. On older android versions you could but no longer. So it's not like if I have 0 internal memory left and 32gb SD card, I'd be able to install a 1gb+ game. It won't let you install it into microsd card. So once you run out of internal memory on tablet, you can no longer install apps and games unless you delete other stuff you have on internal memory.
I know I can store my movies and such on memory card, but I cant install new apps and games on tablet once internal memory is used. It won't matter if i have 32gb sdcaRd :
They won't sell the 32GB instores for some reason, only the 16GB. You can purchase it from their website. Yeah I know, its not the same, and not ideal.

.I'M in the testing phase of this tablet ATM. I was impressed by the pen feature plus wanted to see exynos 4 quad core performs. As it's CPU and gpu is more powerful than tegra3. Tegra3 still a great Social btw so I already know how the infinity would be. Basically a more powerful prime with 1080P screen. So I said why not test out the note first. Since I bought it from BB, I have 30 days to try it out. If I DONT like it I can always get a refund or exchange for infinity pad.
As for which I would recommend, that's depends on what matters most to you. If you bought your infinity from BB, try out the Note 10.1. If you don't like it, take it back and get another infinity. I do know jb is coming for infinity. I would pay those threads much mind on how its performing on the 300. I'm sure jb is performing much better than previous ICS version. As jb on my nexus 7 is flawless. Which also is a tegra3 tablet. I have seen the threads on different issues with infinity like the I/o. Although update improved it.it didn't completely solve it. I can only go off what I read on their forums since I don't own an infinity. Or at least, possibly, not yet
How is your device performing? If it performs fine, you just may be suffering from wanting the newest latest tech..lol. if you having issues, give the Note 10.1 a try. IVE been very impressed with its build, performance, and display. No complaints and not a single ANR since I had it. This processor is very fast and battery life is great on this. This device will get better battery life than infinity pad. Based on what I read people reporting on infinity battery life. As for will the display resolution difference be a factor, I doubt it. Although this has the same resolution as prime, this tablet display looks slot better. The color reproduction and other stuff looks so much better. So for me, it looks good enough. It's a great display and makes the games look better. I noticed the difference playing nova3. The images and everything pop out more. It is a 720P display. Which is HD. Just not full HD(1080P). I've seen alot of people here saying they exchanged their infinity pad and ipad3 for this device and hardly notice difference in resolution. They were impressed with display.
I still support Asus as my experience with them was good. Which is why I bought a Google/Asus Nexus 7. Very impressive device also. So just because I have a note 10.1, doesn't mean I switched sides. Just testing the waters. Plus I always heard Samsung being thrown around as good quality. So I wanted to see for myself how it performs. Which admittedly, performs very well. Exceeds my expectations on it so far. I forgot to add, this tablet has the best stereo speakers on any tablet. Sound is amazing on this. True stereo separation, bigger speakers, and Wolfson audio equate to very rich, loud, and impressive sound coming from this tablet.
Final verdict: try it out. If you don't like it or not impressed, just return it and get another infinity pad. Nothing wrong with testing out other devices.

Thanks.very strange why they won't sell those in stores. Ill see how my memory goes during this 30 day refund period. I have alot of games previously purchased THST I'd love to install and try out on this display with stereo speakers. These more intense games now take up to 1-2gb of storage space. So it'll take no time to Max out 16gb. I remwber I was running low on space with my 32gb prime..lol. some games I can't install on this because they are tegra3 games.
Out of the box, a 16gb note 10.1 only has 11gb of free storage left. Even now I only have 7-8gb free storage left. I haven't even scratched the surface of all the apps n games I want to install on here...lmao.
Thanks again for the list.

I ordered a 32GB from Best Buy online. They charged me the correct amount and it should be here tomorrow. I just checked and they are sold out of the 32GB online. Not sure if it is gone for good though.

Good to know. Thanks. Can I get the best buy store to order it from their online site for me, if online shows it in stock? Like if they don't have it in store, they can order it from their online store instead.
Edit: they still sold out online and shows not available for store pickup. Well I have 20 something days to decide if ill need more internal space(for games & apps) or not.
I got my 32 at Fry's yesterday. Only a 15 day return policy, though.
I just walked out of BB and they told me I could have the 32 in 3/5days
If I trade my 16 in on a 32 it will be the fifth different Tab I walked out of BB in three weeks.
I love that place

I got my 32gb online. They do not plan on carrying this in the store from what i was told, but you should be able to get it online just fine.

Yeah, online is sold out right now. Plus it seems only the dark grey is in 32gb. I'd love to switch up to a white 32gb. The white looks very nice.

The way it seems is that they only made 32 gb grey. I didn't see the white anywhere.
Try using
www.nowinstock.net
Exact note page is

That site is great for tracking when it comes in stock and you can set up email/mobile alerts. This is how I ordered mine on day one.

Good to know... I'm loving my note but thinking of returning it for the 32GB version. BB website doesn't say back-ordered, it says sold out. I'm wondering if maybe they won't get it back online again??? I'd prefer getting it at BB because of the service/return policy and proximity of the store to me, but if they don't carry it Fry's will get the sale.

Wow, just checked Fry's return policy. It's changed, and not or the better:
10. Unless defective, a 15% restocking fee will be charged for all returned opened GPS/Navigation units, network-attached storage, projectors, cameras, camcorders, notebooks, netbooks, tablets and iPads, desktops, monitors, MP3 players and iPods, and Apple TVs. 11. Physical damage to motherboards or remote control aircraft being returned voids any return / exchange privileges

They never used to have a restocking fee. BB still doesn't...

Now that sucks..lol.
I'm considering returning my 16gb Note for a 32gb one as well. Same concerns about the app data. I draw a lot and could see how I might run out of space if I'm not careful. Also, this Note I have seems perfect so I'm doubtful of getting another great one

Best buy online has them in stock again.
Op updated. Best buy has 32gb available online again. Better hurt up if you want one. They sell out fast. Check OP.
So I haven't been able to find a good deal on a new HD+. Is there any real advantage to going new vs. the refurbished ones? I've read some things about bad eMMC chips and was wondering if maybe the refurbs have already been fixed of this issue and might actually be the better option. Either way they have the 1 year warranty. I've thought about going through this seller, link Not the cheapest I've seen, but not 1SaleaDay either. This would still end up being about $50 cheaper than new since their would be no tax or shipping.
Was also looking at BlueProton seller but they just raised their price $5 today

I have also purchased one from BlurProton yesterday and have the same question. Really appreciated any answers.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a refurb. My Nook Color was refurbished, and it seemed 100% new to me.

They definitly are!
I have always had good luck with refurbs including the HD+ I just bought. If you're really paranoid you could buy a Square Trade warranty. They are very inexpensive. Note that the price on ST's website is higher because it includes accident protection as well as defective coverage. I would call them and ask if you can just get defective coverage. It costs about 10% of retail. Of course most major credit cards will double the manufacturer's warranty also.

Let me know how your order goes with them. It looks like they have sold a ton of them. I'm starting to think if there are any good deals on the new ones for Black Friday it might be on the 32GB ones. Almost everyone seems to be out or low on stock of the 16GB's of the new variety.

I don't see where it says explicitly that it's a refurb but it must be since it has a 90 day warranty.
No expiration. Limited to 3 per person.

Under condition is states Manufacturer refurbished so I assume they would still have the standard 1 year warranty that B&N gives to refurbs. I don't really need the 32GB version since they have a uSD slot and I already have an extra 32GB card laying around at home, but I still might bite on this.
B&N does not always give a 1 year warranty on refurbished units anymore.
And you may re-think that 32GB vs 16GB unit decision. The external SD is not very usable unless you install my SD swap zip from my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature.

Thanks leapinlar, I didn't realize that about the warranty. When you say the external SD is not very usable, are you referring to storing apps and app data not working well with the external SD? I mostly use the external SD on my current Nook Tablet for storage of things like movies, music, books, etc. Does that still work fine without having to use the swap zip?
I have bought an HD+ 16GB refurb and it was like a new device.
It was properly resealed and all cables were new.
Currently it is running CM10.2 M1 but has the brick affected MAg2GA eMMC inside, so no TRIM for me so far
Mogators1
When I say it does not work well, I mean apps always look at internal memory for store things, like books, movies, music etc. So you can store things on external, but most apps will not see them unless they have the ability to change storage locations.
Edit: On the Nook Color and Nook Tablet, the default is to store media on external SD. On the HD/HD+, the default is to store media on internal memory. That is why the SD swap is necessary, to change the default to external.

Since I posted the Groupon link they have changed the warranty terms to one year. Also the previous 90 day warranty was through some middle man. Now: "1 year warranty from Barnes & Noble. Goods sold by Groupon Goods."
I bought a refurbished unit from Blue Proton too. It has two tiny dings on the mental frame, but they are hardly noticeable. As for the NAND, EMMC Check reports it to be a bad one (MAG2GA).

How do you go about doing the check to see if it is bad?

Install EMMC Check from the Play Store to figure out your NAND device model and do a cross check with the table
that can be seen here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/EMMC_Bugs . If your NAND type is MAG2GA your Nook HD+ is most likely affected by the TRIM brick bug.
Forget to mention in my previous post that otherwise I am pretty happy with my purchase from Blue Proton.

Same for me--the box was secured with a "Certified Pre-Owned Nook" seal but otherwise appeared brand new.
However, with CM10.1.3, it hard crashes/reboots several times a day. Also, Chrome crashes frequently on certain sites but not consistently.
Is this typical or should I be concerned there's something still wrong with this device?
Thanks in advance for any comments/feedback on your experience with your refurbished Nook HD+ tablet.

Be careful with refurbished vs "certified pre-owned". I recently received the latter (reluctantly) as a warranty replacement from B&N, its a piece of junk. Reboots constantly and battery dies in standby. They are now sending out a new Nook HD+.

Hope I have better luck. I have one on the way from Ebay that states Manufacturer refurbished (certified pre-owned). Sucks cause I just saw a new one at my local Sears for $129 which I would have rather had even if it was a little more than I paid.
Well I bought mine from the USA and I live in Germany, so the 122€ total looked like pretty good value to me (including shipping and customs).
It's a certified pre-owned nook as well, but I don't have any issues with the unit. Works very well so far. I don't really use it for much more than reading mangas with Perfect Viewer and browsing the net tho.
