Yes...some launchers have an option to keep it in memory...not able to remember the names now, but I have seen and used it

I do not keep my launcher in memory and never once had a redraw problem. You shouldnt either because this tablet has plenty of memory

Problem solved by Nova Launcher.

Using the default at the mo.
Any one using anything else?
Apex? etc?
Curious if the default has all the pinch-zoom capabilities of Xscope. I can zoom any mobile page with Xscope, the only browser I found that does that on all sites (like FB).

He meant launcher, not browser lol.
OP, I started apex, but realized what a pita it would be to set up, and said "I'm out" and uninstalled. It works though.

I stuck with the default one since "My Library" doesn't show your library in Apex.

I don't think it does right now. I tried configuring it and, unless I'm missing something, it's stuck in tablet mode. It won't let me get rid of the Tablet app launcher in the top right and the search bar in the top left. Also, all of the icons don't scale right, so they're tiny compared to the stock launcher.
I'm going to roll with stock until Apex updates for JB.
I use Apex. Its really fast and fluid on jellybean!

I tried apex I dont like the way it works on my tabs screen. It leaves a gap at the top.

The vertical and horizontal margin options will fix this. Just change it to small or none.

Nova Prime

GoLauncher EX. I know there are newer ones, but it works, runs great, and is consistent with what's on my SGS2. Just never saw a reason to change.

+1 for go launcher. Smoothest and most functional on jelly bean yet. Apex lags with a few icons on screen and nova has a few bugs that need to be ironed out for jelly bean. Go launcher never lags at all 6x10 grid. Plus themes work awesome And effects. Plus it has full features and its free.

I've tried both nova and apex. Apex has some rescaling issues when redrawing icons in tablet mode. Nova is ok but it seems as if many of its features are reserved for the pay version.

I've been playing with my Note2 for a couple of hours, was sort of sad to turn my Note1 off....
Well, what's to be said?
I'm not disappointed but I can't say I'm over-whelmed with a years worth of development and technology.
I did my best to stick with the standard home but ended up back on LauncherPro - it gives much better use of the screen size, being able to resize widgets, customize the 15(x2) dock icons etc...
The screen difference is noticeable to me - bigger screen and lower resolution is... not best.
There is an issue with using App2SD in that it believes there is no external SD, EStrong's file explorer need redirecting to the external SD too.
Does using a 3rd party launcher make the phone more laggy?

I always remove icons and widgets from the default home screen first, never noticed any lag.
Watching a video, picture-in-picture while messaging and doing other tasks is _great_ !!

I've just stuck Nova on mine and it's like lightning, stock launcher is too if I'm honest.
Swyped from my finger to your face, on my Samsung Galaxy Note.
is there any way to do this on jellybean? supercharger doesn't work for making my home screen bulletproof as it still constantly redraws. any way to edit the build prop to do something about keeping the launcher in memory? its getting kind of annoying.

just use a third party one that has this feature built-in
yeah I want to avoid that. I use nova on my s3 but stock jb is so much smoother than nova.

Is there any app / way to achieve this? There are two many apps that I do not launch on a regular basis which I do not want to appear in the App Menu but keep the app available to launch when required using Swapp or any other Gesture App Launcher like GMD. My Nexus 4 is rooted. I have tried few apps to hide but I am unable to launch them while hidden.

Many third-party launchers have the ability to hide apps (nova, apex, action) from the app drawer. If you wish to run one of these hidden apps, simply search for it-either in the launcher's search or with Google now.

Sorry, forgot to mention.. If possible I would like to avoid third party launchers. I am happy with the stock launcher.

Stock launcher doesn't have this option. If you want to hide icons, you have to get a third party one. Sorry.

I Don't know if LG Specific issue, but i switched to stock to try this out and yes, if you use any launcher besides the stock one it will revert to the list view, switch it back to stock launcher it's back to tabbed, i think i can deal with it.
But so far, if stock, pretty much out of luck.
