I've been playing with my Note2 for a couple of hours, was sort of sad to turn my Note1 off....
Well, what's to be said?
I'm not disappointed but I can't say I'm over-whelmed with a years worth of development and technology.
I did my best to stick with the standard home but ended up back on LauncherPro - it gives much better use of the screen size, being able to resize widgets, customize the 15(x2) dock icons etc...
The screen difference is noticeable to me - bigger screen and lower resolution is... not best.
There is an issue with using App2SD in that it believes there is no external SD, EStrong's file explorer need redirecting to the external SD too.

I always remove icons and widgets from the default home screen first, never noticed any lag.
Watching a video, picture-in-picture while messaging and doing other tasks is _great_ !!

Has anyone got TSF launcher working on the Note after device reboot?
I've paid 16 bucks for this, and every time I restart my phone it force close and TW launcher would come up instead!!!
Also, where is the dialer? Or I've to go through Contacts, then dial the phone???
These things are uncalled for, they should have provided a demo, not the lengthy show off video...

In the devs defence, the videos I've seen on YouTube are very impressive. I definitely think it would be worth a trial to ensure its worth its value, but in what I've seen its completely different from most other things around.
Please don't assume all launchers are of the same value... may as well buy a £10 feature phone because the N7000's £600 is a rip off in comparison!

What you say is like who in their right mind would pay $1 million dollar house, or $500,000 for a Bentley! If you can afford it, then there's no problem of buying it...
I have ADW and Go, but ADW was really good on my tablet not the Note and Go lags all the time... It's a mattet of preference, as if we all had the same taste/preference, no competition between products would arise!

hmm? most of the features that are in the demo are in this version. a few icons look different here and there (ie. folder icon), but for the most part, its more or less the same. the only thing that is notably different is the music widget not being as good as the demo made it seem.
@OP - uhhh... you just use the app called 'phone'. it launches samsung's default phone app.
its not a bad launcher, but not worth the $15.
for $15, i would expect something along the lines of SPB Shell 3d launcher - where its not just a launcher UI, but also includes a whole range of custom widgets that provide useful functionality.
Add missing map widget. Also it's just launcher. It needs more widgets.
I cannot add shortcuts. Missing live wallpapers. A folder animation is missing.

Curious if the default has all the pinch-zoom capabilities of Xscope. I can zoom any mobile page with Xscope, the only browser I found that does that on all sites (like FB).

I don't think it does right now. I tried configuring it and, unless I'm missing something, it's stuck in tablet mode. It won't let me get rid of the Tablet app launcher in the top right and the search bar in the top left. Also, all of the icons don't scale right, so they're tiny compared to the stock launcher.
I'm going to roll with stock until Apex updates for JB.

+1 for go launcher. Smoothest and most functional on jelly bean yet. Apex lags with a few icons on screen and nova has a few bugs that need to be ironed out for jelly bean. Go launcher never lags at all 6x10 grid. Plus themes work awesome And effects. Plus it has full features and its free.

I've tried both nova and apex. Apex has some rescaling issues when redrawing icons in tablet mode. Nova is ok but it seems as if many of its features are reserved for the pay version.

No offense, but the stock launcher sucks....I hate being stuck with big icons and low grid arrangement
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Ive tried them all. And always come back to go launcher ex.
Reasons to switch from stock. Landscape homescreen view and customise grid layouts and my main two. Add a clock/weather widget from beautiful widgets and happy days.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Go Launcher Ex here too... Though it seems a little less smooth as the stock launcher, I prefer a custom grid (I use 5x6) and icon resizing over a 4x4 grid with too much empty useless space. Why else would you have a 5,5" screen.
A few good improvements on TouchWiz on the Note2 though, are the ability to sort the application list in the app drawer, and a 5 icon dock when running stock.
Yeah, stock launcher sucks donkeys balls for the reason already mentioned- crappy grid arrangement that you can't change. Have tried Ex, it's pretty cool, very smooth. I do prefer Apex but I'd rather have a launcher nice and smooth than laggy.

I hated TW on my Galaxy S and Note 1, so I used Go Launcher, Launcher Pro and ADW EX. But on the Note 2, TW seems the smoothest for me switching between screens and opening apps and the app drawer.
I'm using the TW mod that gives me a 5x4 grid plus the dock on the home screen and a 6x5 grid in the app draw.
There's a 6x5 grid mod for the homescreen too.

Nope
I am afraid I have to answer that stock launcher can't have 6 icons on the dock.
Either third party launcher or a system mod.
Pretty sure if you feel lag on those launchers it's something with your phone not the launchers. And calm down man, so hostile for no reason

I'm a total novice but my Nexus 7 has 6 icons and is the same OS.
Might there be a way to fiddle the settings? (eg screen resolution)
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Because the Nexus 7 has a bigger screen so its stock ROM was designed with more room for icons.
Yes, you can play with the system settings.... but why would you want to do so if there are ROMs/apps out there that do those thing perfectly fine?
I won't stop you from playing with your phone or developing your own ROM though
Edit: And Apex is fantastic. I used it from version 0.3, never lagged or slow (well, except for a few beta builds)

nothing about nova or apex is going to slow you down. you will never know its there. promise. and you get mad customizing from them. i dont use apex, but with nova you can speed up the animations and screen swipes. these arent go launchers by the way. these are launchers that some devs will pack in their roms because they run so seamlessly.

If you are referring to the animation that happens when swiping from one screen to the next then you can change it. Settings, display, home screen, screen swipe effect.
Thanks, I did that. But it happens as your swiping. There is a small bounce effect on all animations. Reminds me of Gingerbread. I would like it to just fade instead of bounce. I hope I am making sense. Remember Launcher Pro and ADW? You could choose to have a bouncy effect or fade in etc as you rotate the screens?
