I downgraded to 4.1.2 because my Nexus was getting crazy lag, and now it's smooth and lovely again. Anyway, everything is fine except for the constant popups to upgrade to 4.2. What's the easiest way to disable that?

If you have installed System Tuner, you can make this go away.
On System Tuner -> select System (the one with the red android icon) -> scroll down and select Google Services Framework -> tap Details button (the one with the magnifying glass icon) -> scroll down to Services subsection -> uncheck update.SystemUpdateService -> close System Tuner -> restart.
Hope this helps
Well that totally worked and wasn't too hard. So far the thing I only miss about 4.2 is that new clock app with world time, stopwatch, timer. I wonder if I could find that somewhere

You can fix the lag on 4.2.1 as well, pretty easy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012756

Thanks for the information. I've been looking for something to do the exact thing for me.

I installed ADW and LP to check them out, but disabled them temporarily (I thought) till the weekend when I'd have more time.
Now I am unable to get either LP or ADW to take over as the default launcher. Any ideas?

Go to settings, applications, manage applications. Then press menu and set filter to show all. Find twlauncher, open it, hit clear defaults button. And bam!

Isn't there a home switcher from the market that puts the shortcuts in your applications or home screen

Yeah, just search for "Home Switcher". Its a little app that scans all of the available UIs you have installed, you can switch effortlessly between them, and change which one is the default.
Press the home button brings up a list of recent apps... simple and straightforward. However I would like to know if there is a way to disable that function or prevent specific apps from appearing in the list.
Any ideas??
It's a built in feature into Android, not (Im)possible. However you'd probably have to dog thru the code and edit it heavily.. If it'd even work that is.

Xposed Installer + App Settings module
-> find the app you want to mask in the recent apps
-> Enable modification to the app
-> Show in recents -> Disable
You can do a lot of stuff with Xposed :good:
I have the screen pinning feature enabled but when I tap the pin icon on recent menu, nothing happens, the app doesn't get pinned. Is the feature working for any of you?
To enable: Settings -> More -> Security and scroll down to the bottom where you'll find an option "Pin Windows"
PS: I'm on Android 5.0.1 build ending with HOD3, Stock Lollipop
No its not working here also... I don't think they have activated it hope the micro update will fix it
Which rom ru using??
Screen pinning is not made available on stock touchwiz rom...
Im using @frapeti 's CM12.1 rom with lollipop 5.1.1 sources
Screen pinning works der...
And no unpinning problems at all
Give a try to it....
You'll love it
Settings --> my device --> accessibility --> dexterity and interaction --> interaction control (enable). Then just go into an app you want to pin and hold vol - and home button at the same time and select "done". To unpin do the same thing. (NOTE: You need to disable multi-window for this to work)

Thanks for the tip. I was just wondering why the native Lollipop Pinning isn't working on stock lollipop.
Nexus player rooted on latest CM build 12/23/15. ( cm-12.1-20151223-NIGHTLY-fugu.zip )
I want to disable/remove daydream completely, I don't need nor want to use it. It doesn't seem to have an option to turn off completely, only delay up to 1 hour max.? I use an app 24/7 on this (thinkorswim) but yeah.. daydream gets in the way every hour and have to wake. Any clue? Hoping for a possible quick command line fix. Thanks
* Yes, I have sleep mode off in the dev settings, I just want to remove/disable daydream.
Kind of hilarious nobody has a clue how to disable a screensaver... Interesting issue
Menu Button -> Manage Apps -> Swipe to "All" -> Scroll to "Basic Daydreams" -> Tap on it -> Tap on the button on the top right "Disable" near the button "Force Stop" on the left.
You can uninstall using any app in the Google Play Store with the search key: "Root Uninstaller"
Since it´s a system-App you may encounter problems with daily usage of Android if it´s missing.
Hey there, is there any way how to stop that feature that will kill App in background (especially Pokemon GO), when im using Pokemon Go Plus, original App must be fully loaded in Background. But after few minutes phone will "kill" pokemon go and i have to reload game and pair it with Pokemon GO plus again.
Is there any way how to make App/Game priority so phone wont kill it when im not using it ?
Hope you understand

I have a few things for you to try
1.
Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > Advanced(top right)
You can either just turn off App Power Monitor (if you do ignore number 2.)
or if you want to use it still you can click on it and then click "put unused apps to sleep" and change the sleep delay.
2.
Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > Unmonitored Apps (scroll right down to the bottom to find it)
and add the apps you dont want it to monitor.
If none of this has worked for you its possible an option in devloper settings is enabled.
3.
Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Tap "build number" over and over untill Developer Mode is enabled
Then go to
Settings > Developer options (at the very bottom) > Make sure "Do not keep activities" is turned off and that "limit background processes" is set to standard.
Hope this helps :good:
