So I've noticed on dark wallpapers I can see 'fog' so I set a black wallpaper for the lockscreen. The 'fog' came up clearer. After doing some research (googling) I found the fog to be a result of the ripple effect. Once the ripple effect is off the fog disappears with it. This isn't an issue related to my S3 only, I asked a friend to try it on their S3 and the exact same thing appeared. Anyway heres a picture of it.

Known issue is known
I haven't rooted by S3 yet so couldn't find out but is this issue present in custom roms? I mean it must have an easy fix?
It's emulating water effects on lockscreen inspired by nature and that's whay you see as you say foggy black colors its present on all stock based roms unless you use third party lockscreen app.
Just untick ripple in lockscreen settings.

Hey all,
Attached is a picture of the lockscreen music controls widget that appears when audio is playing.
As great as it is to be able to see and change songs from the lockscreen, there's the terrible, semi-transparent black overlay.

Now, I know this isn't device/rom specific (Same issue on my Note, Note 2 and Note 10.1 across both TW and AOSP/CM), but I'm looking for a way to modify the overlay, to make it completely transparent.
It seems pointless to even have the album art displayed if it's barely visible.
Any help would be excellent.
Thanks.

Well none of my installed widgets (non stock) had that overlay in fact my problem was that the widget (DashClock widget) background was completely transparent. Probably the developers need to implement/tweak options to modify widget look.
I actually like MOST things about LGs UI over vanilla, but one thing I can't seem to get to my satisfaction is the messaging theme.
There is options to change it I know, but the bubble color and background options you are given are so ridiculous. I would switch to a 3rd party app, but I LOVE the way stock has the pop ups.
Anyway, how do you guys have your messaging themes? Have you set a custom wallpaper?
I've attached mine, I actually think it's decent. I wish we had a way to add more bubble colors.

My lockscreen effect changed on its own and the lock and unlock sounds changed and I don't see a lockscreen effect setting under the main lockscreen settings section.
Anyone know why it changed on its own or how to change it back? Sorry for the noobish question.

Figured it out. Found a thread for the gs4 where it disabled the lockscreen effect with live wallpapers. Even though I'm not using one, I reapplied my wallpaper and its fine now. Weird.

Can someone confirm whether the same smearing/ghosting issue is more noticeable in gallery. For me when I enlarge a picture in gallery by single touch and move to the next picture very fast by sliding, the edge of the photo showing ugly purple smearing effect particularly in grayish picture (the picture is attached for testing in gallery) . The screen brightness is set to low. Gallery app is default gallery by Samsung and official 4.4.2 firmware black edition. Is it screen problem or so called normal smearing /ghosting issue?

Since we aren't seeing a whole lot of fun yet with mods and such...Although that's all coming soon....
I wanted to throw this out there .If you stumble into settings /language input/Samsung keyboard/ tick enable high contrast it gives a Kool yellow keyboard and orange number row !
I know it's not a mod but just a system ui theme color key board really just in high contrast this find in settings wouldnt take alot to stumble across some probably know this some don't.
I was surprised to see that it gives off a decent themed appearance.
Have fun with it for its about all we have for the time being.
It's something. ?
