Is the 4.1.1 update not OTA? I tried OTA and it says no update is available.
So I take it the only way to update to 4.1.1 is using Samsung Kies?

That depends on what model you have, but yes you can update using Kies or download from SamMobile
I have the GT-P3113. I used Kies, but it said no update available. I currently have 4.0.4. I take it I have to download 4.1.1 and manually update it?

there is no officially released JB update for the 3113 just yet there is a NON-OTA release here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-P3113&pcode=XAR&os=1&type=3#firmware if your updating from the UEBLH2 version of ICS 4.0.4 but since it's not an OTA (yet, might be might not) if you hard brick going up to it then thats it samsung won't warranty it.
the 3100 and 3110 (depending on regions) have begun to recieve official OTA's but NOT the 3113, we just have to wait and see or take the risk and flash whats here in the development threads that they say works for the 3113.

I can't get GPS lock at all on mine, but other than that the 3110 latest UK OTA works great on my 3113.

I tried that non-official-OTA last night and did not have good results...
I tried restoring with Kies,but that didn't work.
So, I had to download the stock 4.0.4 image and flash with Odin.
All is well now. But, I will definitely wait out JB - or root - haven't decided fully.
there is also this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885878 I believe its based off the same unreleased (possible OTA) but it's had all the "basics" done to it, like rooting, deodexing and stuff like that, that is standard treatment to ALL Custom ROMS.
I reflashed 404 last night and it downloaded a 286mb update to 411 ota. I have a 5110

where talking about the 3113, which is apparently going to be the last to get it, mines 18 days since unboxing it never rooted or anything and I checked last night and there was still no OTA.
P5110 DBT means free unbranded german version is still on 4.0.3! No official update.
So please stop crying

Scarsofthumper - Must be a problem with your tab (is gps on) as my updated jb tab found me in Rome very quickly, so it's not an issue with the is.

As I did not quote any posts I was replying to the original post and I don't see anywhere in op that it says 3113. And I DID specify in my post that I am using 5110, so as not to confuse anyone.

and in the second post someone asked the OP what version of the tab 2 he has and was answered in the 3rd post in the thread as the 3113, maybe try reading more then just one post next time, less confusion that way.

Really???
Samsung already announced it, and there already is a test build on SamMobile so why the negativity? Samsung never announces OTA dates. Seeing they have delivered most of the P3100 countries the official P3113 won;t be far behind if you really have to wait for the official.

My bad for not reading all posts in detail, as I go follow a free forums so 'scim' when entering a new thread. Did not realize third post was original poster and as 5th was about 5110, I did not realize this was a 3113 only thread. Apologies . Maybe I'd we ask a moderator nicely they can delete the 5110 related replies and then we can get the op title changed to include 3113

Not sure about 3113, as I have 5110, but if you check the device status of the tab (settings - about - status) and it does not say modified, then you should get ota when it is available
I think it only says modified if you flashsd custom rom, but I may be wrong. You should be able to use triangle away to drop flash counter to 0 (it worked on my 5110)

I think this update has been around for awhile. Kies is showing mine as having the latest firmware (LA2).
LA2 has been out for a few months now.
As in Title,
Jelly Bean has been released for region XEF (FRANCE) so it have all the EU languages in.

FYI this rom works flawlessly on the P3113. the ir blaster even works. so far the only issuei can see is the "about device" info identifies it as a P3110.

I upgraded from stock ICS w/ mobile odin. it took care of everything for me.

If that is the case, and they built that into the 3110 code, could it be that they are doing what the CM crew is doing? Building 1 JB for both? Since most of the trees are the same (I think thats what I read them say about the change in the thread).

Confirmed -- just flashed to my 3113 using Mobile Odin, then installed Peel from the market and was happily changing channels on my TV. Looks like Sammy kept the driver code in the 3110 software probably to keep it consistent with the 3113 (less testing).

it makes sense from a product platform that the firmware would essentially be the same since the only difference is the ir blaster.
I was able to change channels on my satellite box and turn my TV on. and off.
I am sure that it will get its own, and the only question is when.
Actually only the French version has gotten the JB update on the 3110, the other regions are still officially on ICS according to FUS, and so it's all a matter of the responsible carrier.

well french JB for the p3110 blows the doors off US ICS for the p3113.

that's because there is a difference between XXBMF1 and UEEMF1...they're not the same. One had an update available, one didn't.

No prob . Actually I think those first three letters refer to the different country codes for the N5110 firmwares, not another model of the Note like the N5120 (the one with the modem). Different countries or regions may have their own variations and features for a particular model, like our N5110.
Xx is for international I believe. And we all know what xxx stands for. Joke hee hee corny I know.

Just a quick note. This updated version does seem to resolve the freezing issues I had with the update over a week ago. I only found out there was an update when I connected the Note 8 to my Mac and waited for 10 minutes while KIES tried to find it (who wrote that software!!!). KIES eventually said there was an update so I tried to download it but it was taking ages so I tried on the Note 8 and it download immediately (at 56Kbps modem speed).
FYI : it is a UK international Note 8 used in Spain.
The U.S. Wi-Fi also got upped now, woke up to JZO54K.N5110UEEMF2 waiting to install .

That's how I do it. Using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. This AM I got the notice the software update was available. I run the "Temp.un-root" then installed the updates. This has worked for the last 3 updates; UEDMD1, UEEMF1, & UEEMF2. After updates finish, run the Root Restore.

i understand that OTA functionality will bring updates easily but i think that if you already have the technical know-how to be able to convert a i9505 to a GE, OTA updates would be the least of your worries...

I have an int. 9505 on order, I want to run on it stock Google edition Android Un-Rooted with OTA capabilities too, I understand the friend and I share his interest, I'm not a fan of custom roms, no argument how *safe* it's android, I favor stock Un-Rooted rom on devices I use every day with all my personal info like passwords, credit cards, pins, etc

really don't understand everyone's obsession with OTA... chances at the moment are very slim, due to different bootloader and partitions... however this may soon change. In the mean time there are plenty of Google Edition roms available.

The 4.2.2 rom is official. But why do you care so much about OTA? there will be a OTA every 3-4 months. Not daily,weekly,monthly.
ALot of people think Nexus devices get alot of updates but thats not the case. Last update for My Nexus 10 + Nexus 4 was 4months ago -.-

OTA updates will be so few and far between they're a complete irrelevance. Look at the Google roms on here, some of them have received over ten updates already. As for being 'Official', exactly why does that matter? Do you think having an 'Official' Google edition rom on your I9505 will make getting it repaired by Samsung any more likely should something go wrong? You will have still voided your warranty regardless.
We want stock I9505GE so we can use the full memory of the phone. So complete official and new partitions..
Just an FYI, I plugged in my phone to Kies fully expecting it to say it could not update because it had been modified... but no. It updated to latest build as if it were not rooted. It killed root (of course), but ... And the process took MUCH less time than last update I did.
Its updated rooted phones for as long as I've known. Its in "understanding the basics before rooting" in the updates section.
OTA will not update though. Again,.in the basics thread

Kies has always updated rooted phones /
OP is wrong Kies will reject custom roms or those with wrong product or csc details .
Not that Kies is ever used by XDAers
