Hello everyone!
Recently i rooted my NookST with NookManager (i was forced to do it that way because of firmware version). I installed launcher and it works fine, but i found problem accessing google things... In browser, whenever i want to sing in with mu google account, browser crashes and I end up in homescreen... Same thing happens when i want to use Youtube or Gmail app. I tried to install everything using adb, but it failed...
Is there a possibility of getting GApps working or log in using a web browser?

Hey there,
i managed to get s-off and root for my wildfire, so I flashed CM7 and i am very happy with it.
I also flashed the GApps package.
After the first boot, it opened the market links for all Google apps so i could install them (e.g. Maps, Chrome2Phone, etc.). But when it tried to open the market link for the Gmail app, i just received an error that it could not be found.
Now I don't have Gmail installed :-(
What can I do? I can't find it in the market either..
Hi,
I am kind of new to Android (not linux) and I am asking myself, if it is even possible to enable the search function somehow in Google Market.
There are several attempts to do so and some report it working. Unfortunately, the working reports are so old that I am confused weather it is still possible or not.
I have tried several Vending.apk's, even the ones reported working as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15084704&postcount=51
I am on 1.1.2. Maybe someone could confirm/disprove Market search working or not. Then we would know if struggling is worth the task getting it to work.
Thanks for the reply

Use SearchMarket.apk to search for apk's in the market.
It work's if you have registered your gmail account correctly (that is your market.apk works/connects to google play).
http://www.appbrain.com/app/searchmarket/youten.redo.searchmarket?install=appwidget
yeah no, that was not what i meant.
Of course Market is working with a proper gmail adress. I was talking about it being possible to search the market w/o searchmarket app. Like people telling it would work, but most posts are still of 2011. So my question is: Is it even possible to search the Market in nowadays Google Play time w/o 3rd party apps?
Why is searching not possible? IMO, it is because of server restictions, not because of the Vending.apk. Right?
So I assume these "claimed to be working" Vending.apk's are not working anyway anymore, are they?
Thx
How can I get the SearchMarket.apk file for manual adb installation? My Nook Market app won't let me install any app.
Edit: Managed to get it installed by searching for it from within the Browser and installing from the web interface. Weird but after that the SearchMarket app was shown topmost on MyApps in Market and could be clicked, which begun installation.
The problem is Market for Nook only displays a limited # (~15) of MyApps (given I have a Galaxy S3 with 350+ apps installed and that the Nook Market doesn't restrict to Nook installed ones).
just download market search from gstore ....... log on gmail acc that u root ur nst with and go to google store and search ur appz ur desire and download to ur acc ....... once u connect ur nook to wifi ur appz will download successfully , between that i am use market seacher on my rooted nst 1.1.2 and works great till now , try methid above with reinstall market searcher
good luck

Just in case.
youten.redo.searchmarket.apk
The apk itself is free so i guess uploading it here is not illegal.
I recently uninstalled (deleted) the apks of certain android apps like gtalk, calendar from my system/app folder on my rooted NST using root explorer.
Not sure if it is related, but, unable to install any app now from the app market. I use app-brain app market for downloading apps.
I'm able to find the apps, but on clicking on download, it doesn't get downloaded and instead says it is 'downloading' without any apparent change.
Is the problem related to the deletion of certain apks?
Note: haven't deleted any apk even associated with the word download/market.

I'm having the same problem. I was a able to download apps from market a couple days ago but not yesterday or today. I don't think I uninstalled anything in the meantime. Anyone have any ideas?

Solved it. I Had uninstalled gtalk thinking it was unnecessary on the NST but it broke the market.
Installed gtalk and the market started working fine again.
You are sure you didn't uninstall anything?
What is the error btw? It takes you to the download page but the download doesn't begin?
Sorry for the total noob question, but here goes. I have rooted my NST, using the following instructions: http://tinymicros.com/wiki/NOOK_Simple_Touch_%28NST%29_Rooting_For_Practiscore Forgive the external link, I just wanted to be clear on where I am at.
If this isn't acceptable, apparently the source of the info is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346748 and I used the "the 'Normal + Xorzone's mods + adb Wifi' build "
Practiscore works flawlessly and my nook does what I need it to do. Now I have been thinking that it would be cool to be able to surf the web or at least be able to use the internet over wifi to load apps without having to load it on the SD card manually.
Right now, when I open the browser, it will actually open www.google.com when I set it to the home page but then crash whenever I try to do anything - even just clicking on the search box. The fact that it will actually open google, tells me my connection is working, but either the root process broke the browser, or something else is wrong. I can also open the market and get it to show me some apps, but it won't let me search or surf to any app. Searching just hangs and displays nothing.
I've tried searching but I haven't had any luck in picking the proper search terms to get an answer, and for some reason there is a script running wild on this page that refreshes it every 2 seconds interrupting what I am doing. That problem is probably on my PC, but firefox is what I have.
Ok, I got some things to install by d/l'ing the APK's directly to the SD card on a PC. I still haven't gotten the app store to work, or google.
The app store search will not work on your nook touch, the only way to install apps are either sideloading them or installing them wirelessly using google play on your computer.
You may want to use Opera Mobile instead of the basic browser, it would be easier than getting the stock one working.

Ok, this thing is just not working, everything I try in the market or using the browser just crashes. I downloaded the opera mini, but I didn't get an apk, so I have no idea how to install the extracted files. Most of the apk's I have found to put on here don't work either and just crash. I cant even get hangman or a crossword to load for pete's sake...
Did you root it to run Practiscore on?
If not, I'd suggest restoring your backup, upgrading to 1.2.1 firmware, then using NookManager with NTGAppsAttack (see the Nook Touch Android Development Forum here on xda). That worked just fine for me. But I don't need to run Practiscore.

Yes, the link in the OP was what I used.
1. NTGAppsAttack - working google play
2. use SeachMarket.apk to look for APK's in Google play.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38323047&postcount=6
3. Use Opera Mobile instead of Mini.
4. To manually install .apk (without using ADB)
- put it on your uSD.
- open it using Relaunch or any other file browser that you use.

You sir are a genius. The searchmarket and Opera mobile WORK!!
Now all I have to figure out is how to get rid of those extra apps [that suck and don't work]
Oh and maybe a pdf reader that works...
..and is the screen supposed to go all wonky for a second whenever I do anything? Or is there a new video driver?
Hello xda,
I'm presently experiencing problems with sideloading apps that have external data that is stored in Android/obb, on a secondary user account. For example, if I'm on my primary account(the one with which the tablet was set up) I simply copy the 'obb' data to Android/obb, install the apk and that's it. However, when I'm on a Secondary user account, the apk is installed without any issues, but the account refuses to acknowledge any 'obb' data. Even, if I go to Settings --> Apps, I'm only shown the apk size.
I noticed however, that if any app that uses 'obb' data is downloaded through the Play Store, work fine.
EDIT: I was wondering whether this app can solve my problem:
- Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=app_announcement
- xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033167
Any kind of help is excessively appreciated.

Device Details:
Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight, Software v. 1.1.5
Process:
I have been following Instructions on: blog.the-ebook-reader.com/2012/05/28/how-to-root-nook-glow-using-glownooter-includes-googles-app-market/[/url]
Progress:
I created the recommended backup, installed GlowNooter root, and connected to WiFi (which I have confirmed through the browser app)
Problem:
I opened YouTube and attempted to sign into my google account and received an error message. I tried to open the amazon market app, to obtain Titanium Backup to fix the issue but "content could not be downloaded because of a network connectivity error." I have verified again that I am connected to the WiFi and that it is working (on the nook). Going back into YouTube now causes the YouTube app to crash and returns me to the nooter home screen.
Notes:
Some part of the login process did work because my gmail recognizes my username.
Also, since I was stuck and frustrated, I tried to refresh my email (to see if it worked) gmail crashed. Now when I click on gmail it automatically tries to refresh itself and crashes every time.
I am hoping to avoid having to activate my backup.. but do not know how to proceed. I would be grateful for some assistance.
FWIW I just re-rooted my NST recently (after upgrading from 1.1.2 to 1.2.1) using the rooting tool Nook Manager, then I used NTGAppsAttack to install (Google) Market, GMAil, ... apps. I found the combo of these two tools to be far easier to use than the other available rooting tools which I had tried and had used when I first rooted my NST a few years back (Nook Manager did not exist then).
If you plan to use Nook Manager you'd have to activate your backup -- or, better yet, use Nook Manager to reset to factory-fresh stock for a guaranteed clean-start for your 2nd rooting attempt (which was what I did in my 2nd iteration).
