Hi Guys,
Were are the new basebands for the nexus 4?
My phone is not so stable about the signal.i think an new baseband can fix that problem.
Has anybody seen an new baseband ?
Greets Stefan
I'm looking for this too. Tired of the LOS on tmobile
Transmission sent from my badass Nexus 4.
Would like to also see a flashable radio that somewhat improves data

I don't think there is a update for those fields, at the moment.

have to wait for the next OTA that releases. and that doesnt even guarantee a new radio release with it. it may ship the same radio.
They come from Google no one here makes them.
I'm patiently waiting on a new radio as well. Updating the radio on my Galaxy Nexus was the best mod I ever did. Increasing the signal strength made a huge difference in usability in my area.
As others have mentioned, it might be a while. We need to wait for more OTA's to be released and hope that they have updated basebands.

I'm pretty sure that LG makes the radio not Google. As they would follow LG's guideline for baseband format.
Kinda like how Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S radios had Samsung guideline of: XXKF1, etc.
XX representing region (UG,etc)
K representing year
F representing month. etc
# representing release of that month.
Nothing about new basebands ?
What is the newest baseband ? I have 2.0.1700.33!

Not sure why you're expecting there to be newer basebands floating around, seeing as how it's a brand new phone...

That is the latest one available. The phone came out on the 13th of November so its too early to expect so many updates.

The default baseband is such an improvement over my old one on S2 that I'm happy enough!
Yes please... They need to release a new one I'm getting horrible 4G speeds on my Nexus 4.
On my s3 average is 15down and 1.8up... With a high of around 25down and 3up
On the nexus four I can't get past 10. So ****ty.
Here are some n4 tmobile results

I'd like to try some other modems too. The change in modem made my i9000 far better signal wise and even increased download speed.
No one searched for this?
There's a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 with the only radios collected so far. Nothing new yet until hopefully 4.2.2.
FWIW, Downgrading to .27 helped myself, and many others, tremendously with both signal strength and data speeds. .33 was terrible for me.

Hi guys
Just want to know which radio are you guys using. I'm using KD1. Anyone done any testing to see whether this is the best for Australia or a previous version such as kb3.
I know for my x10 there are regional updates for basebands. Is this the case for the nexus S
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I too would like to know more info about radios. I'm currently on kb3 and it seems sufficient. I get GPS lock in 10 seconds so reasonably happy.

Tested with Kb3 and Kd1, both same, not much difference as Vodafone network is still upgrade in progress. I guess, KD1 is mre effective for UK

Stock rom doesn't show the H sign. Only custom roms do that. Maybe it's a carrier issue?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I think mostly in AUstralia, we get less "H", I not sure why, gotta ask them
Oh I'm using superaosp.. best rom... so that's not because of stock rom that I don't see h
Funny when I first got the planing on now I see h very often

I'm also with vodafail. Using speedtest, I get better download with the new radio KD1 and upload speed was relatively the same in comparison with KB3
hi there,
i know there are a lot of users here for Nexus S, but i'm still considering my options between a Nexus S and a Galaxy S, both under 300 euros.
what would you recommend?
thanks a lot.
Probably Nexus S. It gets all the android updates first, but the galaxy S has 720p recording. Otherwise they're identical pretty much.

"to be honest, it boils down to 2 things.
1. Do you want massive amounts of memory? Nexus has 16gb max,Galaxy has up to 48gb max
2. Do you want faster updates? [then go for Nexus]
The rest is just little things that aren't massively important "

OTA are more stable.. I used to run CM on my EVO/N1 (don't even bother with the NS) but it was never as rock solid as a stable Google release. Experienced this both on the NS4G and N1.
Not too bad on Nexus devices but its flaky on devices that don't have completely compatible kernels.

You do need OTAs. The Manufacturer has to supply the source for the kernel for that new Android OS. Otherwise, you'll be stuck using the stock kernel which will limit development.

I'm not talking about that OTA of stock ROMs. I'm talking about the KERNEL SOURCE of that Android version. If you're using a Samsung phone and a internal leak is made for Samsung Galaxy S for Android 2.5 (making it up). You can make a custom ROM out of it but you CANNOT use the previous kernel source because it will be incompatible. You will be forced to use the stock kernel.
Samsung will not release source for pre-released kernels.
Nexus s for sure. I have both and have to say. The specs are almost identical but nexus s is updated regularly where the galaxy s doesnt recieve any...

I have a Galaxy S and a Nexus S. My Nexus S is not the AMOLED variety despite being told it was when I was purchasing it... Readon to find out why I kept it anyways.
The AMOLED screen experiences pixel wear or burnout or whatever you want to call it. After owning the Galaxy S for several months, I read about a keypad code that could generate different color screens for testing pixel coloration. That is when I saw my battery symbol and some other screen elements had an image burned in. It was very light and a custom launcher that allowed the main screen to rotate freely solved the issue of burn-in but apparently, the pixels still fade, just not in an obvious pattern now.
The Nexus S does not come with a SD card slot. At first, I thought that would be an issue... But I only really needed five gigs or so of music at any one time anyways.
Meh. Both phones are great. I prefer my Nexus S because I can unlock it if I want to and I really appreciate the slight curve to the glass. I gave my Galaxy S away after being satisfied with my Nexus S. You should not end up regretting either phone.
Nexus has camera flash
Galaxy has FM radio.
will Nexus S support and receive a great OS upgrade like, let's say (hypotheticaly) a 2.5 or 3.0 android ?

yes its a nexus phone.
I have a nexus s and I am very happy with it. Its definetly classier (looks and feels) than the gs. However things I think people have forgotten to mention is that the galaxy s (as I understand) has a video out (through the headphone jack?) Which us something u wish I could do. However saying that I wouldn't swap it for the gs! Also a smaller thing is that the NS has NFC, although I still haven't used it it seems it could come to shops in the very near future
Hope that helps good luck with the choice and infact I honestly think that you will be completely happy with either choice!

What are the stages where this is at right now? Fully usable? Still Alpha? I currently have a Galaxy S2 and love it, but it is big and I really want ICS. Is ICS helping with battery life at all? What are people experiencing performance/battery wise? Things like data speeds? Is image quality any better on the device?
Thanks!
Another ICS thread? Ever thought about joining one of the other 10 threads on this subject and actually read what others have been already saying about it.

The ICS dev threads have hundreds, if not thousands of posts. Makes it hard to find information. I don't currently have the phone so it makes it hard for me.
Real simple is to jump to the end of a ics dev thread and read the posts backwards. You will see the most recent info. In short the rom I am running is very smooth, few things need tinkering with to get them working, no 4g but that is expected with a non nexus 4g source. I will also say that after using a ics rom as a daily driver since last weekend the rest of the world who are waiting on ics for their device will not be disappointed when it finally gets there. As far as the battery life goes I have had the best daily usage out of my nexus as ever, true story.

well there are roms being developed for all variants of the nexus s. But yes I have the nexus s 4g on sprint.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I'm not sure about hspa+, isn't that just t-mobiles way of saying 4g? Like lte and wimax? If so then I doubt the ability to connect to it works without the official sources being released by google yet.

Answer
Excuse all the thread police. Apparently some on here have OCD and treat the threads like their personal panty drawr (nice and neat). But to answer your question: ICS is pretty far along on the device, battery is better than ginger, performance has the potential to be better when source drops (right now it's faster sometimes and slower at others), data speeds are about the same, and image is great. In all, the ports we have are daily drivers for MANY, including myself. Although most of the bugs seem to have been ironed out, I can see there is still a lot of potential. Our DEVS are pretty gangster so we will surely see much more progression.
I agree but keep in mind that Ginger was developed fromour phones CPU. Hummingbird. In which why if runs so fluid. Ics is for the what's ever in the galaxy nexus. No other phone will run ics smoother than the gn as no other phone had ever beaten this on Ginger.
My point is that we need source code so we can make a ron with other elements intwined to the framework. Show me how to sign a Tom and I'll. Dev the crap out of it

I'm using Brainmaster's V2 and it's a daily for sure. I haven't updated because I use A2DP a lot, and the newer versions built off of Koush's rom lose that.

Well that brightness slider would be a GREAT addition in my opinion. I also wouldn't mind if the fixed the standby battery draw reporting glitch. Also, they could ACTUALLY fix the standby battery draw so the phone doesn't suck it self dry through the day from standby.
Oh yeah, the desktop background doesn't scroll when you flip screens. Don't know if that's a glitch, but it's just stupid and should be changed.
Another thing, the phone seems to just drop reception randomly even though it's in a fully covered area. This constant drop and pick up is suuuuuper annoying when you're surfing the web or using some messenger app. Also is a battery killer as well.
Improvements can always be made. It's nice to get the updates and nice to know samsung/att cares about our experience. (For sure ATT doesn't give two ****s so I hope Samsung can persuade)

Not sure if serious...
This phone's wireless/data radio are a complete pos. WiFi drops constantly, and it's just weak. I can't even believe how weak the signal is. You guys are worried about brightness...lol .
I've personally have had an issue where callers from my contacts list show up as Unknown. My Dad, with the same GS3, called me and asked if I was having this issue as he had been noticing it as well. Also, some others on xda have reported the same or similar issues.
I called and talked to a rep at tmo and was told that it was a known issue being worked on by tmo and sammy. Not sure when (or if) this will be fixed, but I'm hopeful.
I got my Note 3 the day it came out and initially the signal was bad but usable. Now after the most recent update the signal is horrible. I am always getting 1-2 bars and LTE always switches to 3g or cannot find data at all. Making calls, sending texts and mms are all a huge pain now. On all of my other devices I usually got full signal. After reading online it seems it may have been an issue with the initial batch of note 3's. Some people are getting new Note 3's so if you're facing this problem don't be afraid to call about it
I have the same problem. I have the development edition and cant keep lte to save my life.
Really disappointed with this update. Completely DESTROYED reception. I don't get 4g anywhere I used to. This is ridiculous.
I had the stock note 3 and my signal was horrible. So I exchange it , gave it to my wife and bought the developer addition. I'm run stock dev and my signal is awesome. I was so disappointed at first . Now I'm happy.
