Emojis? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know where i can get emojis that have the actual faces instead of the black and white android ones, & would it be possible for someone to pull the mms.apk file from somewhere and me push it to my phone using root explorer or something?
Sent from my Nexus 4.

I use gosmspro for as my messaging app and it supports actual emojis. Give it a shot!

chompsms supports emojis as well. i find chompsms to be a lot better than go sms. go sms has too much bloatware in it.
handcent sms is another good alternative as well (supports emoji)
chompsms: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wMS5jaG9tcHNtcyJd
handcent: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...extsms&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
you will have to get their respective emoji app.

Copy/Paste text, Save Pictures

Two questions:
1.) How do you copy/paste on Aria?
2.) How can I save a picture off the Internet browser? (I currently have the default browser installed; if there's a better app I'll go for that.) I can save off texts and emails--double-tap to save--but internets is different.
Thanks y'all.
Copy/paste is done by a long press on the desired word/text box.

FYI you can't copy and paste in
1.HTC sms app

to clarify you can copy /paste in the text input box but you can't copy what others have sent you unless you first choose to forward the messege. then you can copy it just fine.
you can save pictures in opera mini browser
Roger that, thanks all. Still getting acquainted with all the features--and something that seems like a stupid question just isn't intuitive or the feature doesn't work on the Aria :/. Generally satisfied

Different TXT messaging app?

Was wondering if there are any different txt messaging apps, besides the default?
which also has the ability for attatchments.?
Thanks
I haven't used it myself, but a lot of people swear by Handcent SMS.
GOsms is what i use pretty nice
I have tried handsent not too bad but too much "bubbles" for me.
Are there any txt messaging apps that don't screwup the order in which messages are sent? What I mean by that is this:
When I send a txt to someone saying "hi, how are you" at 9:40am and I receive a reply a few seconds later, it shows up before my original message. Because both timestamps are at 9:40am, it displays them in alphabetical order (which is wrong)...
Allie - 9:40am - "good, u?"
Rob - 9:40am - "hi, how are you?"
I use Handcent SMS and I'm happy with it. No issues with the time stamps being out of order. You can customize the appearance, too.
How do u get rid of the bubble messages and have just a normal "list" type.
Settings - custom style - bubble settings - conversation style
Switch it to android.

I use handcent. It's pretty good. One thing that bugs me about handcent is that everytime I flash between different roms. I can never restore it. I've used tianium and astro and it would force close. What works for the best recovery when using handcent? For those of you who are using hc. Sorry, little of topic.
I've never had a problem between ROMS. Are you doing a full reset between? I just wipe the cache.

GoSms is what I recommend. I use the pro version, which is free in the market. Visually it looks like hanscent, But has more features. You can tailor it to performance or set it up with all the features/settings you want.

Go SMS
Go SMS is the best! They update a lot, too! Plus lots of personalization!

Long SMS being converted into MMS

i have a Desire HD running android 2.5.3 (Stock unbranded) and i have noticed that if i send a test message longer than 3 texts it converts the text to an MMS is there any way of extending this limit or removing it all together?
I was a bit frustrated with this when I first got my phone. That's the way the stock Messaging app works. Nothing you can do to change that. You'd be better off installing GO SMS Pro. It's an excellent app, much better than the stock one and has every possible feature you can think of in a messaging app. I've been using it since the beginning and the stock app is crap compared to it. You can send texts of any length.
Try it - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms
Click thanks if I've helped you.

i would tend to disagree that there is no way of changing the stock application as i have friends with the same handset and the same version of android but have operator customised version (orange) and they have no SMS to MMS conversion happen on long text messages and they dont have to use any 3rd party application.
Yeah of course that's possible, but it requires modifications to the code of the stock Messaging app. There's no mod which exists for that here, as far as I know, because most people don't care too much for the messaging app and usually use a good third party one like GO SMS Pro or Handcent. But if you want to stick to the stock one that bad, you could ask your friends with the Orange ROMs to extract the apk of the Messaging app (provided they're rooted), then root your phone and replace your stock HtcMessages.apk in /system/app with that, and change its permissions to rw--r--r using Root Explorer. Hopefully that works. Or you could search around here for a stock Orange ROM .zip, extract the apk from that and do the same procedure above. There's no other way I can think of.

Stock keyboard with emoji support

Hello,
is it possible to implement the emoji smileys like iphone in stock message app?
I can see that 86ppl has watched your question but none has actually told you that:
No.
Only way to use emoji a la iPhone is too use a custom SMS app. Like gosms or handcent.
If this helped. Press the small thanks button.

Correct, install handcent sms app replacement, then install the emoji pack again from, handcent.
Android doesn't have native support for these sorts of emicons.

The best way to hide sms messages?

Hello, I need to hide sms messages from one contact. What is the best way? I prefer free app but you can post paid apps too.
Thank you very much.
Have root? Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.security.firewall. if not try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.project.memoryerrorthree.

I know there's a modified MMS.apk in Slimbean that allows you to blacklist messages and calls from as many contacts as you want. I've seen it in a few other ROMS too. You can just flash one of those and not have an extra app. Or just extract the apk and move it to system.

I like root call blocker. It doesn't even make your screen blink
thank you guys, I'm with CM so I try to block contact via sms..
"Vault-Hide SMS, Pics & Videos"
Never used it for sms but works good for pics, I assume the sms is good too.

It has no additional icon, you get into by dialing 1234 then dial on the keypad, and it's opens it let's you put anything from one contact there (sms, mms, calls) and you can only get into it by using the code. Also, the default code of 1234 can be changed, and the app doesn't require root. Also gosms has a private box built in to it.

trying Hide SMS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keepsafe.sms)
seems, it's simply app and it works fine.

I can +1 that. I use Vault daily and this is by far the best Android privacy app I've seen. It was just a SMS hider, but now hides photos and videos and even locks apps now!
Plus, its privacy is polished to the extent that if you press back from the app, it also disappears from recents menu

Shady SMS 3.0 PAYG
It may be the best, however, costs about 7 bucks but it's well worth it. The developer always updates and listens to his customers.
that's a built-in option with Handcent.
long press on conversation and select blacklist.
