Vibration - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I might be imagining this but sometimes it feels like something is moving inside the nexus. Anyone else notice this. Seems to be when I am riding the bus and the bus shakes then something inside the nexus shakes.
Thanks

Probably your hands

I have never felt anything seem to shape apart from some games make the speaker feel like a vibrator

Maybe a snake got inside your N7?

What are you doing when this happens . Watching movie Playing a game. Web browsing. Does it do this if your tablet is Turned off ?? My guess too would be speaker. It could be a loose screw a wire not tapped down . Could be just something from the bus ride and your associating it to the device.Could be vibration from the shielding inside the device causes by vibration and noise of the bus itself.Loud and some pitch sounds can actually cause pressure changes in a environment and make objects seem to be moving . Like a Dome Oprah stage .
Gotta love threads that say
My thing is doing this can you help..!!!!!!.. typing is free. posting enough information to get a honest educated opinion is a Requirement.

Have I got a bad device

I got my nexus 7 today only started using it past 30 mins as I've been in work the screen looks good doesn't look washed out but does t look as good as my nexus s doesn't bother me one thing that does tho is when I press on left side of screen it makes some sort of click but I can't see the screen lifted or anything as people have said.... no distorted mic too
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
That is an extremely difficult read since you didn't use any punctuation. If you don't feel comfortable opening the device up to check the screws then RMA it.
Really sorry , easier when I use my PC first post from my nexus 7. The clicking went but I found out its the selotape that they cover the board with so it is the sponge as some people have said. I tightened the screws and screen feels the same as my right side now

Sounds like the device is fine to me. If you're not having any problems then you're good.

anyone one else feel 'dips' in the screen?

this seems pretty strange, but sometimes when I swipe my finger to scroll or during a game, I swear I feel like a dip in the screen. problem is I can never recreate it. I would scan the screen with my finger to try and feel for the dip, but never find it. this would occur randomly during normal use, so wondering if anyone else had this?
Is this a joke?

heh heh heh heh heh heh very funny ))))
Try rubbing your balls over the screen, there more sensitive so you can find that dip,I would also recommend having some porn running on it so you cover the dead pixels

Mmmmm ball rubbing haha.
No idea what you mean by a dip. Can you physically see anything?
Its obviously his skin folding under itself when he runs his finger down quickly. Then it unfolds and he feels a jump

Put one hand on the N7's hip, and then you'll feel the dip.

Or more likely a spot of grease/misc human slime and he perceives the increased movement due to lubrication as a dip lol.

Rattling sound when phone put down.

Hello,
Last week,my Nexus 4 slipped out of my hands, face down on It's screen. I thought I was screwed, but luckily the phone was perfectly fine.
Since that day though, it seems like the usual rattling sound that comes from my Nexus , is becoming worse. Maybe it is just inside my head, but maybe not.
Especially when I lay my phone on a hard surface, I hear an irritating rattling sound, coming from the top of the phone.
Does anyone else experience this? Or is it just me? My Nexus is working perfectly fine tho, so nothing has broken.
I am waiting for your thoughts!!
Niels

Camera shutter? That's made a slight rattling sound for me, it may have become worse for you since you dropped it

Very faint crackle from ear speaker

I've noticed my nexus 4 has a crackling sound from its ear speaker very faint almost not noticeable without close inspection oh and its started to heat up to about 38 to 40c not sure if that's a good reason to RMA it . but hey you never know if its hardware or software fault
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
If I put my phone to my ear, even with the screen off, I can hear a rediculously quiet clicking static sound, is this what you mean? I only notice it when I try to notice it so it doesn't bother me, an RMA would be pointless and more trouble than what its worth.

This is a known issue. No need to RMA, the new device will more likely than not have the same problem.

Exhaust

Guyz is there any exhaust hole for heat emission in n4.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I think the speakers and/or the camera and flash serves as the exhaust.
the glass back is meant to transfer heat out(thats why it gets warm with use, thats why its glass).
I notice that compared to other devices I've had the N4 gets very hot..

it actually doesnt get as hot as most devices. but you can feel the heat more, because of the glass back. if it was plastic/metal, you wouldnt feel as much heat. it just means that the glass back is doing its job right. my galaxy nexus and nexus 7 get much warmer, but it isnt felt as much because the backs are plastic.

Pick up a Sensation after its been used for about 10 min.

Of all phones in household between original nexus s, sensation, hd2, nexus 1, one x+ and n4, nothing comes close to beloved n4 . Few times I'd to end call as its fricking hot in ears and hand. Good thing at least keeping us warm in UK's summer cold

Yeah, we also need to get it smogged every two years.
It's right next to the muffler and the catalytic converter.

Winter is coming. We should add anti freeze to the lube oil
Far as everyone mentioning the glass back, I thought glass was an insulator, not a conductor (something like aluminum or such would dispel heat, glass wouldn't necessarily, as it's an insulator).

Glass is a terrible thermal insulator. It is however a great electrical insulator! Ha

You mean aside from your USB port, headphone jack, edges around power and volume button, around the LED light, and speaker hole? Honestly I think people are making a mountain of a mole hill out of this, has anyone actually reported a Nexus 4 exploding in their pockets? (from overheating that is).
In any case if you're curious about the innards, check out this tear down of a Nexus 4.

I actually used to have a sensation and it didn't get nearly as hot as this phone does. Neither did my G1, My Touch, Vibrant, S2, or my wife's note 2...
Not a big deal but I could use the N4 as a heat source to keep warm in the cold... If it wasn't 100 degrees out that is

On my Gnex, you can feel the heat on the chrome part of the camera, which gets hot to the point that it feels like you'd get a little burn

No. LG suggests you drill several holes to prevent overheating as it is a VERY big issue for nexus owners. I attached a CPU fan to mine and it rarely hits 200°F anymore!
