Thanks guys, it's been fun! - Xperia Play General

It's been a wild ride with my Xperia Play. A week ago I dropped my phone, and the touchscreen stopped working after that - seeing as I've already replaced the digitizer once 2 months ago, and that this phone is not going to get up to the speed I'm looking for, I have sadly decided to move on. I haven't bought a new phone yet, now on my spare HTC Magic (which is.. even slower..), but it's really been fun tweaking my play over here at the forums. I'm really sad that I won't be able to use this as a spare phone, though.
I wanna say thank you to the big developers whose ROMs made my Play really fun!
FXP - I've tested CM9 from everything not working to everything working!
nickholtus
pricey2009 - your GB MIUI absolutely rocked and was my daily driver for at least 2-3 months.
Atarii - I used ICS++ for a long while too!
krisdee - You have to try Xperia NXT Light Edition.
CosmicDan - MIUI Australia was awesome too.
cj360 - SlimBean is really good! I was on this for a long while before my phone broke.
And everyone else who developed great ROMs. I think you guys really made Xperia Play pretty legendary, there's really a great variety of ROMs that I could choose from!
Haven't decided on my next phone yet, it's hard to get the Nexus 4 over here in Singapore, I'll keep looking!

Get a Galaxy S3 or Note II, I have the S3 and its great

Enjoy your new phone mate!
I'm currently rocking CM9 (soon CM10 on my Play.)
As we'd say here in Ireland,
"Slán agus beanacht!"
Goodbye and Blessings to you

I havent heard about you, but enjoy!

I guess that's because I don't post often! Don't want to clog up the already massive developer threads.
Now if only the Galaxy Camera can make calls..

The only way to really brick a phone is during a bad radio flash..
Just check your md5 sums and make sure to not flash either new boot file or radio if you have less than 30% battery or with the back cover off (so the battery doesn't fall out)
See ya 'round, chiefy!
I saw your post in the marketplace so I knew this was coming..
Have fun w/the new toy.
Enjoy your new phone man seen you around here alot of times thanks for helping other users and you might regret the fact that it is extremely complicated to root and all that compared to the x10 lol

Hardly...
I have owned many phones and read one quick tutorial and you're set.
Plus the fact you can do much more makes it all worth it.
I know I said my good bye to you through pm already but I thought I'd say it again. I'm sure you'll get much more satisfaction from galaxy being the techy guy that you are and I'm sure in less than a week you'll be on the cyanogenmod nightlies lol
Also I don't know if I ever did thank you proper for the various bits of advice over time you have given me, and also when I put together that tutorial for how to flash 2.2 beta 4 with your help all that time ago.
I wish you the very best for the future and don't be a stranger and your always very welcome to my Facebook group and continue being a mod there

Goodbye and thanks a lot

Got my gorgeous ceramic white Galaxy SII last week as a Xmas gift and absolutely loving it!
The X10 was my 1st Android, got it in July last year (2010), taught me a lot about Android, had fun modding it with Wolfbreak's and TripNRaver's ROMs, it also captured many great moments with its cam as the past year has been filled with them, unfortunetly its small RAM, laggy camera and dated CPU were beginning to annoy me.
Thanks for everything guys, this is a great community, we have all gone through a lot especialy with the updates drama, lol, was a great stay, but time for me to move-on.
Enjoy your X10s, still great smartphones, especialy on 2.3.

CM10 update for Galaxy S3- Release soon!

A status update about CM10 on Samsung devices:
- The Samsung Galaxy S III's ROM is somewhat ready. As far as we know, everything works (WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, Video playback, Calls, Audio, 3G Data, Camera, ...). It is currently undergoing some internal tests to make sure everything is fine just by installing the update ZIP, so if something goes wrong make sure to blame +Pedro Carneiro ;-) No ETA available, we will release an experimental build when we feel like it's ready, so if everything is fine it could be hours or days, if something goes wrong it could be hours or days or weeks or months or years or centuries or millenniums.
(Oh and don't even think about asking for FM Radio)
- I just started to work on the Samsung Galaxy Note. Codeworkx and Espenfjo already started on the Galaxy S II, thus some of their work profits a lot for the N7000. I'll keep you informed either here or on twitter on how things goes.
- The Samsung Galaxy S II is in a very early state, we got it booting. But since the Note is very similar, that's a lot of shared work between those two devices.
Technically speaking, the "galaxys2" device tree will turn into "i9100" to fit with the Samsung naming convention we used everywhere else in CyanogenMod device trees, and a new galaxys2-common tree will appear.
We really have no ETAs for all these devices, we really go for a "When it's done" approach, even for the S3 ROM. It could be released tonight, the same way it could be released next week. It depends on our free time and on how things go around. As for the Note/S2, there's still many things to do before giving an estimate, so stay patient.
I hope this post will calm down people bugging Hacksung on Twitter regarding Galaxy devices and Jelly Bean ;-)
Back to work!

This makes me very happy! Can't wait to run JB because at the moment, the Galaxy Nexus that I sold to my cousin makes this phone seem slow!
Here's hoping for a release within the next week

I'm really hoping Samsung also get their build out soon. I think they will, seeing as they are now such a huge player in the Android market. There is a lot of users out their now that have bought into their brand, and i'm thinking they're gonna do everything to keep them happy and away from Apple products.
Anyways, in the meantime, we are lucky buggers to have talented individuals in our community making ROMs and builds and generally making us smile.
Nice 1 to all devs.

I'm truly flabbergasted that the devs have managed to get so much working in such an incredibly short time. Truly very impressive. I done a good bit of coding at university and sorting what seems like pitiful problems takes a lot of time and effort as well as being very frustrating. You guys must be very talented.
I'll probably give it a go, this butter UI project has me very interested. But would love to see ParanoidAndroid rom asap too. (Tablet mode is just awesome)
Well done cm team. I will donate to you guys on pay day next week.

Hey

Hello tf101 community. Just wanted to drop by and say hello, since I'm getting this wonderful device soon.
I've heard great things from Android revolution hd, anyone care to comment?

Just came to say hi!
I have spent most of the time with stock ROM, and just tried Revolver/Revolution. I am sure you get lots of answers. Anyway don't hesitate to drop by the ROM thread. You will get lots of info there.
Good choice on getting this device. There are lots of other things coming out, but too be honest, none of them really warrant a tablet swap (well, maybe the Surface tablet because it's definitely different by a crapton), and this tablet gets a lot of attention from the devs. Have fun flashing roms! I've gone from Prime to Revolution to EOS to CM9 to EOS-Jellybean-Nightly. It's great having so many capable developers willing to work on this tablet .
On a side note, my name is Calvin, and I have an orange tabby named Hobbes. Completely unrelated, except CalvinH has the picture and stuff.
Haha, thanks for the warm welcome guys. I was starting to feel alone here.

I have used Android revolution HD, revolver, TEAM EOS JB, ASOP JB.. all of them good... do not install JB ROMs as they have some bugs like low volume and 1080p video playback... so they r stable but still not completely cooked... all ICS ROMs are really good... personally I love revolver ROM..
When you decide to flash, be careful to read everything about the tool including comments

Well, as we are sharing pets, i have:
3 horses
A goat
A sheep
A peach face love bird named killer
A fish
Many many chickens and pigeons
2 dogs, a bearded collie and a hyperactive ADD mini aussie/husky with little dog syndrome
And 2 cats.
As for roms, ARHD is great! I ran it for a while with a stock kernel and had a great improvement over the stock rom. Im now on revolver 4.1.1 on a guevor kernel overclocked to1.5GHz. Got noticeably better battery life not overclocked on the stock or another guevor rom but ive only been OCed for about a day and all im doing is stressing and pushing it to see what it can do now.
Personally, im staying away from the JB roms till everything works.
