Great glad to hear it, i haven't contributed to XDA in a while and since i am recognized contributor i thought i should continue to "contribute" took me a few hours to write this so it really helps to hear people say thanks
I've read some of your other guides but as I'm on CDMA they really don't pertain to me... but I do appreciate the time you take to try to make it easier to understand the xplay & what can be accomplished with a little patience.

Hi if you have any tips on how i can make them better or make them also suitable for CDMA please PM me or reply below
Thanks.
no doubt... I'll go over them after while & give you some feedback... I'm the same way LOL.

Nice work on explaining it so clearly. Nice website also. Im sure many more people will give multiboot a shot without fear of problems they may run into. And the more users means the more feedback which is helpful for development (as long as feedback is helpful). Thanks for another guide.

I thought I would write this guide to help people who are having trouble with getting ICS to work reliably on their Galaxy Note. This guide is fairly beginner friendly but I do recommend that you quickly go through this once before you start. Also, this is a 'risk free' way of trying the ICS leak. You just need to have a nandroid backup from your current clockworkmod (or red-pill recovery) to try this out. If you do not like it, instructions are included on how to restore back to your Ginger Bread ROM. Hit the THANKS button if this helps. Happy Flashing!
Edit. CLICK HERE for my earlier thread demoing ICS on the Note. It has 3 videos that add up to 40 mins.
Edit 2. In case you have any trouble with the ROM and want to get back, I have now included a 'Getting back to your old Ginger Bread ROM' section in the end thanks to chasmodo. I do suggest that you read through for some user reports or better yet, try it yourself!
Edit 3. The guide now includes instructions to get TeamRocketROM ICS and criskelo's ICS ROM. I have had mixed results with these two ROMs. But feel free to try them out and see if they will work well for you. You will HAVE to install the CF repack ICS to be able to install other ICS ROMs. So follow the steps from section (2) until step 10 and choose either Section (4A) or (4B). A shout out to TeamRocket and criskelo. Original Thread for TeamRocketROM and Original Thread for criskeloROM.
Edit 4. MediaFire links for the essential files are now up. They are split into 200mb rar files. You will need WinRAR to extract them.

Section (1) : Requirements.
1) A Galaxy Note, obviously. It HAS TO BE model GT-N7000 (International) and NOT SGH-i717 (AT&T).
2) Samsung Kies, because it includes the latest Samsung drivers. Google it, download and install.
3) Stock GB ROM with a good radio. We are using a KKA for this. It is easily rootable AND it has a great radio. I have also included ODIN for convenience. CLICK HERE. | MIRROR | MF-Part1 | MF-Part2 | MF-Part3
4) Chainfire's CF-Root kernel/clockworkmod for KKA. CLICK HERE. | MIRROR | MF
5) Mobile ODIN Lite and files required to flash ROMs in one pack. OR you can get Mobile ODIN Pro from Market and support Chainfire's efforts. CLICK HERE. | MIRROR | MF
Note. Chainfire is one of the most prolific Android developers/reverse engineers and it will be worth every penny if you donate/buy his apps.
6) Chainfire's ICS repack. This includes CF-root kernel and clockworkmod. Package also includes the google apps zip. CLICK HERE. | MIRROR | MF-Part1 | MF-Part2 | MF-Part3

////// EXTRA REQs for criskelo ICS ROM //////
****ONLY IF YOU WANT CRISKELO ROM******
1) Criskelo's ICS beta 1 ROM CLICK HERE | MIRROR2 | MIRROR3
Section (2) : Chainfire's ICS repack installation.
1) Your current firmware does not matter. It could be stock, stock & rooted, newer stock & ever-rooted, sammobile ICS, whatever. It's OK even if you're in a boot-loop or plain brick. It does not matter. But be prepared to loose all your app data and also maybe the files on the INTERNAL sd of the phone. This is MEANT as a clean, fresh install. Although you will get back most of the essential stuff once you logon to you google account on the new ICS.
2) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ATLEAST 50% CHARGE.
3) Extract the file named " N7000XXKKA_N7000OXXKK5_AUT.rar". You will find three files there, .DLL, .TAR.MD5, .ZIP. Extract the zip file. Right click on 'Odin3 v1.85.exe' and click 'Run as administrator'.
4) Now you need to put your phone in Download mode. Turn off your phone if it is on. Hold volume down, home and power together and keep holding them until you see a screen that says Warning on top with a yellow warning symbol. As soon as you see the screen, you need to push the volume UP button to get into download mode. If you miss it, try holding down the three buttons and repeat. The download screen has an android with 'Downloading...' written in the bottom.
5) Now that you are in download mode, go ahead and connect the Note to your computer. If you installed Kies correctly, it will install the drivers for the new hardware and say that the device is ready for use. Now, on the ODIN screen you should see "Added" in the 'Message' window on the left. Now, click the "PDA" button and select the file that ended with .TAR.MD5. Make sure ONLY "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are checked. Say start and the flashing should begin. DO NOT INTERRUPT THIS UNTIL IT IS COMPLETED.
6) Once the flashing ends, your phone will reboot. Give it upto 5 minutes because it is the first boot. If it is stuck in a boot loop (or if things are force closing on the setup screen), hold down volume UP, home and power button together until you get into the recovery menu. Navigate the recovery using volume and home buttons. Now select the "Wipe data/Factory Reset option", select the Yes option and proceed to wipe the phone. Once done, select the reboot option and your phone should turn on now. Do not setup any accounts and just click through the setup screens. Reboot the phone.
7) Now you have a nice clean stock ROM. We will proceed with the rooting now. Go to settings and 'Applications' and enable 'Unknown sources', then go to 'Development' and enable "USB debugging". Now extract the file " InitialCFRootFlasherKKA". You will see a "not-rooted-yet.bat". Right click and run as administrator. Click enter to continue and now it should say "--- STARTING ---" and "found a samsung" and all that. If you get to the part where it tells you that it is going to flash the cf-root kernel too fast, the adb server probably failed to start. So, you need to close the bat file and run it again as admin. If everything goes right you should see the zergRush exploit in action and after some time it will tell you that it will attempt to flash cf-root kernel. Hit enter, it will flash the kernel and reboot. Congratulations, you now have root and clockworkmod.
7b) PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP (optional but recommeded) : Turn your phone off. Hold volume UP, menu and power until you reboot into clockworkmod recovery. Go to 'backup and restore' and select backup. Clockworkmod will now create a nandroid backup of your rooted GB rom. So if you decide to g back to GB or try out different ICS roms, this will be really helpful.
8) Now we need to install Mobile ODIN Lite. Extract the file "Mobile_ODIN_Lite_GTN7000". You will see two apks. Now extract "CF_ICS_REPACK_GAPPS_INCL". You will see a .TAR and .ZIP. DO NOT EXTRACT ANY OF THESE FILES. Transfer all these files to your sd card using USB. You can go to 'Wireless and network' menu in settings and then 'USB utilities' to enable mass storage.
9) Using the included 'My Files' app, navigate to the apks. (Note. If you put your files in the external sd there is a folde called "external_sd" in My Files to take you there.) Install " MobileODINLite-v2.15" and then install " MobileODIN_FlashKernel_N7000-v2.0". Now launch Mobile ODIN. It should ask for su permissions and select "Allow" make sure the "remember" option is checked. Select 'Open file' and navigate to wherever you put the "I9220LP1-N7000-ICS-REPACK.tar" file transferred earlier. It should say that it has loaded the file. You will notice the 'Modem' and 'Param' fields are empty, that is fine. Scroll down to 'Flash firmware' and select 'Continue'. Mobile ODIN will boot into recovery and proceed with the flashing. DO NOT INTERRUPT THIS UNTIL IT IS COMPLETED.
### OPTIONAL STEP *ONLY* FOR ROCKETROM/CRISKELO-ROM : Once the flashing is complete, it will take you to clockworkmod. Perform a 'wipe data/factory reset'. Reboot. *SKIP TO SECTION 4A/4B* for further instructions.
10) Once the flashing is complete, it will take you to clockworkmod. DO NOT REBOOT. Navigate the recovery using volume and home buttons. Select 'Install zip from sdcard' and then 'choose zip from sdcard', navigate to 'gappsv7.1.zip.' Proceed to install the zip. Navigate back to main menu and select 'wipe data/factory reset' and say yes. Now select 'reboot system now'.
11) You should now have a stable, rooted ICS. BUT we need to get rid of all the bloatware before we can proceed. There is no set up screen. If your screen in all black when it boots up, that is fine. Reboot the phone. Reboot it again, just to be sure. Get Titanium Backup free either with market, or with the apk. You will need to set up your google account before you can download through market. Once you have Titanium Backup, the clean up begins. You will need to enable 'Unknown sources' under 'Security' and 'USB debugging' under 'Development' before you can use Titanium Backup.
12) Launch Titanium Backup it will ask for root and allow it. Click through the popups. Click the Backup/Restore tab. We begin from all the way dowm, so scroll down all the way. You can uninstall an app by clicking on the app and selecting "Un-install !" option. Click OK on any warnings you will see. Below is a list with the apps that I personally like to remove. It includes the "Samsung Hubs" because they mostly serve Chinese content.
Section (3) : The Bloatware list
-Two apps with Chinese characters at the very bottom.
-Zinio
-Youko
-wikiAR
-weibo
-VIVA magazine

That's it! Restart your Note and you should have a great, fully-functional ICS ROM! This procedure has been thoroughly tested by me and works every time. ALSO scroll down to check out the recommended apps for better functionality.
Section (4A) : TeamRocketROM ICS installation
****THIS SECTION IS TO BE FOLLOWED ONLY IF YOU WANT TEAMROCKETROM******
1) Once you are done with step 10 from Section (2) you should have the CF repack which forms the base for a lot of other ICS ROMs out there. So you absolutely NEED the cf repack running. If you don;t have it, go back to Section (2) and follow steps from 1 through 10.
2) Transfer the files "TeamRocketRom_ICS_Notev1.4_beta", "TeamRocketRom_ICS_Notev1.5_beta" and "Reworked_15ToggleBar_for_TeamRocketROM_v1.5" to you internal or micro sd. DO NOT UNZIP THEM. Turn off your phone and hold down volume UP, menu and power until you boot into clockworkmod recovery.
3) Now you need to perform a full wipe. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and yes. Now select "wipe cache" and select Yes. Go to advanced > Wipe dalvik cahe > Yes. Select back to go back to main menu.
4) Select "install zip from sd card" > choose zip from sd card > now navigate to the "TeamRocketRom_ICS_Notev1.4_beta" file. Remember it is *1.4*. Slect the file and proceed to flashing. After it is done flashing, perform a full wipe like we did in step 3 (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cahe). THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.
5) Once you are done performing the full wipe, go back to the main menu and hit "reboot system now". The phone will reboot, give it some time. Once it is up and running, quickly setup your google account.
6) Now turn the phone off and hold voulume UP, menu and power to get into cwm. Select "install zip from sdcard" > choose zip from sd card > now select "TeamRocketRom_ICS_Notev1.5_beta". Remember, THIS TIME IT IS V1.5. After it is done flashing, do not do any wipes. Go back to main menu and reboot the system.
7) Wait till the phone boots, it will take some time. Go settings and about to verify that you are running RocketROM v1.5. Now, for the final part.
8) Turn off your phone and hold down volume UP, menu and power until you boot into clockworkmod recovery. Select "instll zip from sd card" > "choose zip from sd card" > now select the "Reworked_15ToggleBar_for_TeamRocketROM_v1.5" zip file and let install. Once done, don't wipe anything. Go back to main menu and reboot system. Congrats! You are now running TeamRocketROM ICS v1.5.
Section (4B) : criskelo ROM ICS installation
****THIS SECTION IS TO BE FOLLOWED ONLY IF YOU WANT CRISKELO ROM******
1) Once you are done with step 10 from Section (2) you should have the CF repack which forms the base for a lot of other ICS ROMs out there. So you absolutely NEED the cf repack running. If you don;t have it, go back to Section (2) and follow steps from 1 through 10.
2) Transfer the file "CriskeloRomNOTE.vICS-V1-Beta1-MD5-79520216F3E0F9D0DC5F87EB82EBB143" to your internal / micro sd. DO NOT UNZIP.
Select back to go back to main menu
4) Select "install zip from sd card" > choose zip from sd card > now navigate to "CriskeloRomNOTE.vICS-V1-Beta1-MD5-79520216F3E0F9D0DC5F87EB82EBB143". Select file and proceed with installation.
5) After it is done flashing, perform a full wipe like we did in step 3 (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cahe), just to be sure. Go back to main menu and select reboot system now. Enjoy your criskelo ROM!
Section (5) : Getting back to your old Ginger Bread ROM :
If your having troubles and want to go back to your old GB ROM, this is how you restore. Credits to chasmodo for the instructions.
1. download AbyssNote 3.9 kernel from HERE | MIRROR. It's a flashable zip.
2. put this zip on your SD Card before you try to restore your previous system
3. when you want to restore, power off your phone
4. boot into recovery (Volume up + Home + Power)
5. chose 'install zip from SD Card'
6. navigate to your Abyss kernel zip and flash it
7. go back to the Recovery start menu
8. go to advanced/reboot recovery <--- this will reboot the phone directly to recovery
9. you will discover that you now have Hyperdroid Redpill Recovery - it comes with the Abyss kernel - it's pretty much the same thing as CWMR
10. wipe cache, dalvik, do your factory reset
11. start your restore, and it will work.
Section (6) : Recommended apps
- Go Keyboard - Great, highly customizable keyboard. Includes emoji, touch tone keypad, smileys and themes. Does not lag.
- Nova Launcher - Awesome launcher meant ONLY for ICS. Highly customizable with stock ICS look and feel. Very stable too. Includes persistent search bar, dock pages, etc. Original thread HERE.
- Winamp - Really good music player with great navigation and a good looking widget. Also includes lock-screen integration.
- Airdroid - This app is must have for anyone who want to sync their phone wirelessly over wifi. Free and awesome.
- MX Video - Excellent video player. Essential for this ROM because stock player does not function. Has great gesture controls and plays almost anything you throw at it.
- ROM Manager - ONLY IF you are having trouble with force closing apps and general freezes, get ROM Manager and run 'Fix permissions'. I recommend that you do not mess with any other option on ROM Manager unless you know what you're doing.
Section (7) : Tips, tricks and troubleshooting
-- 14 Button Toggle Bar : This is a very nifty little UI tweak by Chris X.. Original post here. It is basically a really cool looking Notification bar with a lot of toggles. I have included a screenshot below. This tweak also works on criskelo ROM. I haven't tested it with chainfire repack, but you are free to give it a try. CLICK HERE to download.
-- Get stock ICS icons for CF repack (Nova Launcher) :
For ICS icons on your Homescreen, download "Ice Cream Sandwich (theme)" by kovdev from Market. Now go back to your Nova Launcher homescreen, tap and hold the icon you want to change and hit edit. Now click on the icon, select "ADW Icon Pack" and proceed to select the appropriate icon. However, the icon will only change on the homescreen and not the app drawer.
-- SoD & Freezes : If you are getting random freezes and/or Screen of Death issues, remove your SIM and microsd, transfer all the required files to internal memory and start over. You can also try using clockworkmod or ROM manager to fix permissions.
Hit the Thanks button if this helps at all. All credit goes to everyone who deserves it. Especially Chainfire. And remember, hit the Thanks if it helps. Good day.

Yes. I assume you're already rooted? So you can just start from step 8. If you have a good baseband from Romow, I think you will be just fine.

I have mobile odin pro which downloaded something I started an app for the first time ( i think it was flash kernel, but I'm not sure) ...
Do I need to install MobileODIN_FlashKernel_N7000-v2.0 ?
And I have stock KK5 rooted, that means I can start from step 8 ?
edit: just read the official Mobile Odin page here, and the last sentence states that only Lite users have to manually download flashkernel

Did you make a backup in cwm by any chance? If you didn't, you might just wanna start from step 1 again. Trust me, it wont take long now that you have done it once. I did the whole thing over just to write the guide. Took me about 30 minutes.
Edit. Hold on a sec! Did you say you just 'installed' the keyboard? Through market, right? If you did it by market and do not alter any system files with clockworkmod or root explorer then, you can boot into cwm by volume up, home and power and wipe your device. Everything should be back to normal after that. You won't lose root.
is there no way i can download any keyboards apks? i just need it so that i can sign onto my gmail account?

I thought your whole ICS was being unresponsive. Just do a wipe. Or get apks for a third party keyboard. Go keyboard is what I use. Just google "go keyboard apk download"

Yeah, it's a great keyboard. I have reduced the height of the keys by one unit in both portrait and landscape. I also have the emoji plugin, which is kinda cool. 0_o
Fail, I liked the new Gmail, but everything seemed so big, since I got used to 240 dpi, downloaded DPI Changer from Market, decreased DPI, and after that I couldn't boot
So I had to flash stock rom using Odin, and start over ...
Now I've just rooted stock rom, and waiting for battery to charge over 50%, since all these flashing and rooting sucked most of the juice out of it
Btw, the best keyboard in my opinion is "Thumb Keyboard"
So you're saying it's FULLY FUNCTIONAL? As in everything works just as well or close to the stock rom? Then no need for me to wait for the official release from Samsung?
If so, I'll do it baby.
I am amazed how smooth this rom is
So far its stable, we will see that in few days
Hi to all,
I know that our great developers are creating a CM7 rom for Motorola Flipout MB511, this rom is working now in a unstable state, my question is if this source can be used to develop a rom for Motorola Charm MB502 considering that both devices contain the same hardware.
Can anybody tell me if changing all references words "ruth" or "MB511" to "charm" or "MB502" on source code, is all I need to build a rom for Motorola Charm.
The rom source has been posted by phchshow and this is the link of the git source:
https://github.com/phchshow/android_device_motorola_ruth
Thanks a lot for any answer!
Now we know that phchshow rom, works for Motorola Charm (BASIL) MB502, We need someone who has a development evironment to build it directly for motorola Charm with the native drivers I mean RIL, AUDIO, etc to reduce bugs.
:good:
I don't know that the Charm even exists
But if it is exact the same Device, it should work on it.
I dont know much about compiling stuff, maybe you could PM the MB511 CM7 dev for information.

Yeah yeah, of course i saw it. But almost everything in this Forum is for MB511. However, if its the Same device (Like SEMC Arc "anzu" and Arc S "ayame") it COULD work. But First you need to get bootstrapped recovery to work on charm, you maybe could Flash the MB511 Rom. (At your own Risk, of course ^^)
Else, good luck at building it for charm.
Report to me if it worked, so i can add it to my How-To Thread
Sent from somewhere...
Well.. I took the risk :
I've been installed, the CM7 ruth rom, from the phchshow compiled V 0.6.2 on the Motorola Charm MB502 without make changes,...:fingers-crossed:... and works! :victory:
But, some bugs:
1. No Network Recognize: I can't call, sim is recognized but returns "No Network coverage".
2. Screen only shows in portrait mode and sensors doesn't function to adjust the display mode.
3. Keyboard not function properly, numbers and symbols not corresponding to the physical keyboard layout.
4. Android key board not function.
5 Audio files are no working.
:silly:
I wonder if this bugs are in MB511 or just in this model (MB502)?.

I cannot say something about 1., cuz i dont use a SIM card on my device anymore (Switched to Xperia Arc S "ayame")
2. CORRECTION: Screen is working fine on ruth (MB511), but it gets wrong orientation if you flip out the Keyboard!
3. Keyboard is usable on MB511, but it is qwerty, i have a qwertz one.
4. Working on MB511
5. Ringtones and Notification Tones are working, didn't test with Music
Maybe you need to port over some device drivers from charm to the ROM
Made some corrections in my last post, sorry ^^'
Latest screenshots from my Motorola Charm MB502 porting the CM7 v0.6.3 for Flipout:
Unfortunately still no working the following features:
- Audio Mp3 cant be played. (But can use winamp to hear all music)
- Voice on call when using normal mic input. (Must to use headset)
- Orientation only in portrait mode (Launcher can be set to landscape but all system layout will rotate to portrait mode)
- Video files not working (I think because the Mp3 error) so youtube can't reproduce videos.
- USB error when disconnect.
- Cannot move apps to SD (but can use link2sd)
I had used Holo locker, Holo launcher, and ICS theme from Theme Chooser Themes

4. Open the FlipOutRecovery app and allow permissions, then click on "Install Recovery" button, and then click on "Reboot Recovery Mode" button. The system will reboot with clockworkmod menu.
5. Wipe data, cache, and advanced/dalvik cache
6. Select "install zip from sdcard" -- "choose zip from sdcard" -- select the ruth rom --- yes --- and wait until instalation finish.
7. Reboot then boot with recovery, clicking "vol -" Then Wipe data, cache, and advanced/dalvik cache.
8. Select "install zip from sdcard" -- "choose zip from sdcard" -- select the osk386fixCharm.zip --- yes --- and wait until instalation finish.

I flashed my phone with CM7 and was able to boot from it and while trying to apply the fix for motorola charm.
I bricked my phone now it shows up M logo and I was not able to get past this. I tried to do a sbf_flash even that is not working.
Any ideas on how to make my phone work.

Hi Calvin, actually orientation is already working with v0.6.4, but now is stuck in landscape mode, sensor not working for auto rotate UI, and now usb is more buggy, I'll try to fix this issues for MB502 this weekend.
If you want to test it just follow the steps above, but now with v0.6.4.zip and the same osk386fixcharm.zip.
I'm using this versión, I got my headphones everytime.

FAQ'S
Q.Can I use this rom on tmo/Canadian variants?
A.This rom is made for the N9005, @fahadali2315 doesn't support other variants, He ONLY supports the N9005. However a user made a fix to get the things that work by default to work on tmo/Canadian variants. Read the "How to get N9005 roms to work on N900T(Tmo) & N900W8(Canadian) Variants" guide for step by step instructions BUT use the fix that i am linking below.

Q.Why does the installation fail when I try flashing this rom?
A2.Use latest philz recovery (recommended at ROM thread OP), other recoveries might not be able to flash this rom.
A2. v2.5 comes with Aroma Installer, I personally choose Chenglu CWM as it will handle Aroma better.
Q.Why is deep sleep not working?
A1. Deep sleep only works with the 2 NE6 kernels, 1 that comes with the rom and other that @fahadali2315 posted.
A2. Latest updated / tested : Aurora kernel is a good match to this X-Note S5 Ported ROM. Thanks @MojoManagement for the good kernel
Q.Can I use s5 kernels?
A.You can but they break the camera. So better to use n9005/n900t kernels instead.
Q.Why is sview not working?
A1.

A1.Set APN from your provider manually.
A2. If A1 can't fix your device, try to go the APN, change the bearer to LTE, and then Save. Your mobile data should be working.
A3. If A1 & A2 still can't fix your device mobile data, your last resort is to flash FIX for National Roaming. Thanks to @Mroczny3 for the fix.
Q.I can't seem to enable recent apps?
A.Use gravitybox xposed/ Navigations Keys Actions set anyone u like to show Recent apps. (Task Switcher)
Q.I modified dpi and now my sview is messed up, what should I do?
A.Use app settings xposed module and set sview dpi to 480.
Q.I have HealthService Error popup?
A.Update Shealth to latest version from Samsung apps.
Q.XTransformer doesn't reboot in this port?
A.Just Set your dpi, and click on reboot button wait until it shows reboot in the TOAST. Then Reboot your phone from PowerMenu manually.
Q.Xnote App doesnt auto Reboot?

Q."After flash v2.5, My home button still cannot show recent apps/task manager. Can I use remap key function at XNote Control ?"
A. No. This feature currently still not working yet. Please use the old method by Gravitybox.
Q."Why DCMprovider is eating up my battery ?"
A. Sometimes this is happen to some device(s). You can just simply freeze it from Titanium Backup. This process is brought from S5 firmware, you can just google DCMprovider to find out more.

Introduction
MultiROM is one-of-a-kind multi-boot mod for K6 power. It can boot any Android ROM as well as other systems like Ubuntu Touch, Plasma Active, Bohdi Linux or WebOS port, once they are ported to our device. Besides booting from device's internal memory, MultiROM can boot from USB drive connected to the device via OTG cable. The main part of MultiROM is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot. You can see how it looks on the left image below and in gallery. ROMs are installed and managed via modified TWRP recovery. You can use standard ZIP files to install secondary Android ROMs, daily prebuilt image files to install Ubuntu Touch and MultiROM even has its own installer system, which can be used to ship other Linux-based systems.
Features:
* Multiboot any number of Android ROMs
* Restore nandroid backup as secondary ROM
* Use for example Ubuntu Touch or Desktop alongside with Android, without the need of device formatting, once they are ported to the Moto X Play
* Boot from USB drive attached via OTG cable
Warning!
It _is_ dangerous. This whole thing is basically one giant hack - none of these systems are made with multibooting in mind. It is messing with boot sector and data partition. It is no longer messing with data partition or boot sector, but it is possible that something goes wrong and you will have to flash factory images again. Make backups. Always.
Installation
1. Via MultiROM Manager app (We do not have Official Support, so this is not an option for us yet)
This is the easiest way to install everything MultiROM needs. Install the app and select MultiROM and recovery on the Install/Update card. If the Status card says Kernel: doesn't have kexec-hardboot patch! in red letters, you have to install also patched kernel (If you want to use Kexec) - either select one on the Install/Update card or get some 3rd-party kernel here on XDA. You are chosing kernel for your primary ROM, not any of your (future) secondary ROMs, so select the version accordingly.
Press "Install" on the Install/Update card to start the installation.
2. Manual installation
Firstly, there are videos on youtube. If you want, just search for "MultiROM installation" on youtube and watch those, big thanks to all who made them. There is also an awesome article on Linux Journal.
MultiROM has 3 parts you need to install:
Modified recovery (TWRP.img) - download the IMG file from second post and use fastboot, TWRP or Flashify app to flash it.
Patched kernel - you can find it in the second post. Download the ZIP file and flash it in recovery. You can use any 3rd-party kernel which include the patch.
MultiROM (multirom.zip) - download the ZIP file from second post and flash it in recovery.
You current rom will not be erased by the installation.
Adding Roms
1. Android
Go to recovery, select Advanced -> MultiROM -> Add ROM. Select the ROM's zip file and confirm.
Using USB drive (not tested yet)
During installation, recovery lets you select install location. Plug in the USB drive, wait a while and press "refresh" so that it shows partitions on the USB drive. You just select the location (extX, NTFS and FAT32 partitions are supported) and proceed with the installation.
If you wanna use other than default FAT32 partition, just format it in PC. If you don't know how/don't know where to find out how, you probably should not try installing MultiROM.
If you are installing to NTFS or FAT32 partition, recovery asks you to set image size for all the partitions - this cannot be easilly changed afterward, so choose carefully. FAT32 is limited to maximum of 4095MB per image - it is limitation of the filesystem, I can do nothing about that.
Installation to USB drives takes a bit longer, because the flash drive is (usually) slower and it needs to create the images, so installation of Ubuntu to 4Gb image on my pretty fast USB drive takes about 20 minutes.
Enumerating USB drive can take a while in MultiROM menu, so when you press the "USB" button in MultiROM, wait a while (max. 30-45s) until it searches the USB drive. It does it by itself, no need to press something, just wait.
Updating/changing ROMs
1. Primary ROM (Internal)
Flash ROM's ZIP file as usual, do factory reset if needed (it won't erase secondary ROMs)
Go to Advanced -> MultiROM in recovery and do Inject curr. boot sector.
2. Secondary Android ROMs
If you want to change the ROM, delete it and add new one. To update ROM, follow these steps:
Go to Advanced -> MultiROM -> List ROMs and select the ROM you want to update.
Select "Flash ZIP" and flash ROM's ZIP file.
In some cases, you might need to flash patched kernel - get coresponding patched kernel version from second post and flash it to the secondary ROM sama way you flashed ROM's ZIP file.
Explanation of recovery menus
Main menu
- Add ROM - add ROM to boot
- List ROMs - list installed ROMs and manage them
- Inject boot.img file - When you download for example kernel, which is distrubuted as whole boot.img (eg. franco kernel), you have to use this option on it, otherwise you would lose MultiROM.
- Inject curr. boot sector - Use this option if MultiROM does not show up on boot, for example after kernel installation.
- Settings - well, settings.
Manage ROM
- Rename, delete - I believe these are obvious
- Flash ZIP (only Android ROMs) - flash ZIP to the ROM, for example gapps
- Add/replace boot.img - replaces boot.img used by this ROM, this is more like developer option.
- Re-patch init - this is available only for ubuntu. Use it when ubuntu cannot find root partition, ie. after apt-get upgrade which changed the init script.

FAQ and other notes
Device encryption:
Encryption isn't supported right now. So decrypt your device before using this.
About security
In order to make multi-booting possible, MultiROM has to sacrifice some security measures. Firstly, on secondary Android ROMs, /system is not mounted read-only. While there are other things preventing malicious software from messing with /system, this might potentialy make it easier for such software to attack that system.
What do the ROMs share?
All ROMs are separate, except /sdcard, which is shared between all Android ROMs.
How many ROMs can I have?/Where are the ROMs stored?
You can have as many ROMs as you can fit in your /sdcard. All the ROMs are stored in /sdcard/multirom/roms or on an USB drive. This folder is unaccessible in Android, to prevent mediascanner from scanning it. You can either in recovery, or obtain root and go to /data/media/0/multirom/roms.
The menu with all the ROMs won't show up during boot, how to fix it?
Either re-flash the MultiROM zip or go to recovery, Advanced -> MultiROM -> Inject curr. boot sector.
The reason for this is that something rewrote your boot.img, which happens for example when you flash a kernel. MultiROM's boot menu is part of the boot image, so it has to be added into it again.
Can I flash secondary roms on Micro SD?
Yes but it's is very slow, internal storage is much better to flash secondary roms.
How do I flash Gapps in Secondary ROMs?
After AddRom and is done, go back and Click on the installed Secondary ROM, you will see one of the option to 'Flash Zip', click and install Gapps. Then you can reboot into secondary ROMs, do gapps installation before rebooting otherwise as usual need to deal with SetupWizard FC, at least thats what I observe in my device.
Reserved.

Tested it . Booted Dot os as secondary . Working Flawlessly . And yes.. If I think of an amateur user , It is easier than Dual boot patcher as @TingyiChenchen provided the twrp and the flashable zip . One just have to flash them . And boom ...Add roms as you wish .
N.B. Never ever update magisk or any flashable zip from the added roms . Always boot into recovery ..go to the rom and chhose the option add zips .
And make sure you have backed up system and system image before messing up with This .
Hit Thanks if I helped or If you need a video tutorial .
How to encrypt? I had to format my whole phone + internal memory.
How to make rom in external storage is visible?
When I set fingerprint in primary rom, secondary rom delete this. Please, fix this issues!
Thank You for making this happen on santoni.. But i think it still need a little fix.. I'm facing two problems..
1. If i make password or FP for lockscreen on second rom.. On first rom we couldn't use password or pattern that we've entered.. It change by it self..
2. After sometimes.. We couldn't boot to second rom anymore.. It's stuck on boot logo
I hope it could be fixed on next update.. Take your time.. Thanks for the effort.. Thanks for this MultiRom

Thank you for sharing information. I have 2 questions:
1. Any conflict with primary rom like rr which integrated magisk? What would happen if I add/remove modules in magisk manager?
2. If I enabled the File Based Encryption (FBE) feature in the primary rom, which means the whole /sdcard/ is encrypted until I input password or draw gesture before boot up. Can I use MultiROM still (show OS menu and load secondary rom after I input password or draw gesture )
Thanks!
@TingyiChen can you share multirom device tree?
Edit: no need I have done it with help from Madd_Maxx
My secondary Rom won't boot!!

Impossible to get a working MultiRom Manager by TWRP flashing V33 santoni zip
Though many posts for Xiaomi Redmi 4x (Santoni) do declare that MultiRom Manager works, I experience a serious problem with installation.
MultiRom.apk always says incompatible device (Santoni).
So I tried the 2 provided files. TWRP Multirom Recovery successfully flashed but no luck with "multirom-20171120-v33-UNOFFICIAL-santoni.zip".
Flashing the MultiRom Mgr application (customised for Santoni?) never get installed. This is my main problem.
Please advice!
NB1: Concerning the Encryption issues with MIUI devices I did manage to solve it and get a full TWRP device backup (including my data!) by flashing image "twrp_santoni_oreo.img" available around.
Its TWRP version is 3.1.1-8.0.
nice project

If you want to use Stock Kernel without Root ,then in Aroma choise Stock ,if after install Rom not start --need Restore from your Backup Stok Rom in TWRP only Boot partition and Rom must start -- This is just a theory-Practically you need to try

I probably won't test it for a month because that's when my warranty expires, I have just been keeping an eye on here for when it does.

I'm on a J330F and use this rom 20 days. there is no problem at all.everything works perfectly.
In my opinion, this is the best Rom j330 for that moment.
It even works on J330FN, still using it.

I have tried every single possible way to install this ROM, i even tried your other Port from A3 and it just goes back to the boot logo whenever it finishes with updating the applications (the green android screen that comes after the boot logo). You should probably post a detailed info about what Stock ROM we should be in before using this Custom ROM and the steps.
Thank you

No you didn't specify that you need to be already on ROM J330FXXU3ARC5 to flash this, it's not even stated on your install guide either. So i guess i'll have to downgrade my phone then see if this will work by then.
Thanks again
