How do you format the Usb storage on Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

So yesterday I moved to JB
All is working great ard my phone is now running pretty smooth however I did think project butterwould be better.well maybe in the official release.
The problem is I Can't figure out how to format the USD storage.I tried from Settings Storage then formatbut it did not work. I also triedfromfactoryreset default and wipe all data with no success
Thank you

Plug your phone to your computer, and you can format all.

It's may be because of the patch used by Samsung to avoid the brick bug. Use the pc option or boot in recovery and mount use storage and formatting is better

Thanks All
I did use my PC and it worked perfect

How do I unpartition my sd card? Lag fix+ extra space.

Hey all, I used the lag fix which adds the extra space..but now I'm using jpf clean and probably lestatious when 1.1 is released so I kinda want the 1gb back for my sd card...but windows won't even detect the partition...can anyone help? I would have posted in the developer thread but I don't have permission yet =x

how u partition it in 1st place??
use minitool partition wizard it's freeware
Edit: all data will lost so better backup b4 deleting
I used mini tool to partition it but it doesn't show up with both partitions, it only shows the fat 32 one..i used a standard usb cable plugged into the phone when I partitioned it. All my stuff is already backed up and ready to go.

I fixed it! Just ran the lag fix..it corrupted my sd card and then the phone formatted it for me

Back up your data and format the sdcards, both internal and external. Copy files back to the sdcard. I faced it earlier and it got resolved after formatting.

plz help,i cant connect device to computer!!when i insert cable, the mount menu doent pop up nor does the computer detect it !!!plz help ASAP!!!
If you have swapped your sdcard and that is causing problem. Then replace the original vold.fstab and take out the microsd and check connecting with PC. But if out its drivers issue, then you know what you should do.

Dude i had the same prob yesterday.i thought i was so fu**ed.here is what i did.temove ur ext sd.check with a card reader if its corrupted or totaly wasted.if corrupted then format.if wasted, tough luck.after formatting, put the original vold stab inside it.dont put it inside.try to format the inbuilt sd from the phone.if nothing happens just wait for some tym.dont bother mounting.wont work.then turn off the phone.put the ext sd inside.turn on.do a factory reset.if u r lucky,it will show the cards.then just to b safe unswipe by putting the default vold.it shud b fine.in my case it happened after i was messing with chainfire 3d.i think its due to low quality sd card.by the way my 8gb ext. Sd is totally worthless now.no regrets tho.it was a low quality one.gave problems in my digi cam too.what ext sd do u use.best of luck dude.i spend almost 3hrs yesterday tryin to fix it.hope this post was of help to u.

4.2 stickmount??

Have anyone had any success mounting storage using USB OTG with stickmount on a rooted 4.2?
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
Yes and no, it does not mount my flashdrive as it was under 4.1...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah same. It was mounting well on 4.1.2 after I updated it detects but the folder is empty. I think they need to update the app

a couple funny things happened..
1. ez video player won't work
2. mx player won't work
3. stickmount can't find flashdrive:crying:
4. under settings, we are missing an option under 'SYSTEM' right between about tablet and accessibility.
I also find that stick mount says it has mounted the usb drive but it shows it as empty. Worked with 4.1.2 but not with 4.2. I LOVE stuck mount.

The development settings can be found by spamming the build number but IMO the apps aren't compatible yet with 4.2
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
Lol. Wow I thought they were joking about the tab 7 time thing to get USB debugging mode. Guess I won't reset to 4.1.2 just yet. Though no stick mount can be a real pain.

Same here. It mounts but the folder is empty

Same here, I played with it last night and was digging through the new file/sd card structure. It looks like they changed the way the symlinks worked with the SD Card to make it work with the multi users. TWRP also has a problem with backup location. I had lost root, recovery, nova isn't working right, no stick mount, I was frustrated and went to flash my nandroid back to 4.1.2 but TWRP could not found it. By the time I figured that out it was late, today is a new day so I decided to ride it out and wait for the app dev's to update their programs. I did not find the solution to Stickmount but if anyone is looking for where TWRP stores and looks for backups it's under /data/media/TWRP
I also hope chainfire can fix stick mount. In the meantime Nexus Media Importer still works so you can stream videos from a usb card and can import photos.

4,2
Stickmount recognizes drive but can't read it.

Device working perfectly until.....

Sorry for posting in galaxy y thread but there is no galaxy pocket (or if there it's,I couldn't find it) and this model is the closest I could think of..so anyways my phone, it works fine unless I insert the memory card.then after a few minutes it freezes and reboots without powering off. Then it restarts, freezes and again shuts down.removing the card fixes it but then I can't use my apps songs and videos on my memory card. That card worked fine for almost a year (I didn't test it on some other Android device but it works on non Android devices)
My Recent Activity
a few days ago I decided to deodex my phone using a flashable I found somewhere...it all was working fine except for a few FCs and sometimes it froze but after some time it would get back to normal.then I installed a few apps like undelete and ROM toolbox pro.I changed the boot animation too. So once I was using opera mini web browser and my phone froze and turned off in the same way I mentioned earlier... I tried clearing dalvik cache and the cache partition in recovery mode but to no avail.I also removed a few apps I suspected may have been the cause but that too didn't work.
I hope the experts here help me out with the issue soon.
And btw that 'you are a noob on xda' was genus:beer::beer:

SD card won't format

Sup guys. I don't know if this is the right place to post this. But here I go. My 32gb San Disk micro SD card was working fine on my gs3 until I got my s4 and now it seems to be write protected. I can't delete or add anything onto the card. It worked fine on the s3 though. So I Googled a little about this and came across a piece of software, which I downloaded and made use of. But the tool I used to supposedly fix the card actually made it worse. Now the phone can't read it, nor can the PC explore its files (but can detect the device), its like a non allocated partition that just needs formatting. But I have tried windows format utility, SD card formatter, HD low level formatter, and HP USB disk utility software and all of them without success. Please help me as I don't know what else to do.

use cwm recovery to format sdcard. u may need to root ur ph for dat
Yes the galaxy s4 does seam to have issues with sdcards, I myself had corrupt sdcard twice for no apparent reason. Your sdcard will now be in RAW file system and from experience very hard to recover, I've tried dozens of recovery windows apps to fix the partition without success (maybe just didn't try the right app) you can however recover SOME datas on the sdcard but there is no guarrentee how much or what you can successfully recover.
The moral of this story is to ALWAYS backup your data.

Hi, pop it in a camera, if it detects it you are lucky, format it there and you're all set. Unfortunately you will lose all the data

My camera uses SD cards I think, not micro. But I'll check
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
just find an adapter from somewhere, usually one is supplied with the card
I tried clockwork mod recovery with no avail. I have little faith that a camera format tool would work, so I'm not even gonna bother to find a microsd adapter. Sigh. Any other suggestions please? I'm almost giving up

new card?
Yes, that's unfortunately my last resort. I was hoping it didn't have to get to that point though, cause where I live, a 32gb micro SD card is expensive as ****. But oh well. Thank you guys for trying.

Why not just get a card reader and use a PC and partition minitools?
To get your SD card back You may even need to do a LOW LEVEL format. This is very different from a standard format.
Use Google and get a freeware version of a low level format software then repartition USB/flash drive then normal fat32 format.

I tried doing a low level format. I've tried it all, with no avail :/
