I think you can use the patch of wpa_supplicant file from my build.. check out Jaws-MIUI-rc1 build..
use HD2ONE Build
or just replace the file as mentioned above.
I asked also on how to enable Ad-Hoc on my sense (when i was using it), but none of the methods worked for me (supplicant, .so modules, ecc). At the end i used the Connectify program on Windows 7 and this worked.
(Connectify is a Windows 7 software, that if you have a compatible wifi module, it will make it work as an AP instead of adhoc, and HD2 connects with no patches as it sees it as normal wifi and not adhoc)
very interesting post!!! I was looking for something like that but running MCCMjoon's Desire HD V2 and or V3.4. What files or what combination will work? Do not really want to flash to any other ROM at the moment
Thanks guys.
tnx
thanks for all replies.
so which patch i should use?

Of course, Astro has no permissions to write in system folders! You need to use Root Explorer! I know it's paid, no warez here. PM me for further assistance.
I 've found several threads talking about android with ad hoc networking problem. I 've also downloaded wpa_supplicant file and replaced the original one. But it can not work on my Galaxy Tab P1010 wifi version. Could someone help create a wifi version wpa_supplicant file? That will be much appreciated.
they've just released the WiFi version so it'll be a waiting game for us SGT Wifi version owners.

Do you guys know if all the current roms and installation procedures will work without changes on a Galaxy P1010 Wifi version?
Thanks.
^^ i haven't dared tried using it though .. there might be a compatibility issue and i might end up having my SGT as a paperweight.
but seriously, i would love to but is there a way to restore the SGT to its original state in case something goes wrong? does KIES allow that? 'coz in my Mini Pro, if something goes wrong, i can always use PC Companion / SEUS to reload the OS.
I'm looking forwards to this adhoc wifi on my GTab Wifi too.
I 've also downloaded wpa_supplicant file and replaced the original one. But it can not work on my Galaxy Tab P1010 wifi version. Is it wifi version or 3G version's "wpa_supplicant" file is compatibility?
I'm looking forwards to this adhoc wifi on my GTab Wifi too.
So far I have tried every version of wpa_supplicant and no luck. The best results I got were from version 0.6.10. My SGT can see the ad-hoc connection. it connects but fails to obtain and IP.
I hope someone can get a fix for this. I realy don't want to pay for interent on two devices.
Hmm.... That's really weird. I'm not Dev, but the WPA_supplicant file ought to solve that problem.... Unless they (samsung) have blocked Ad-Hoc in the kernel. That would suck. I'd try a Voodoo kernel and see if that helps. $0.02.
Can someone post the wpa_supplicant from the wifi version? Im not the best with this stuff but ill give it a go.

Thanks so much for this tread, was having the same problem. Hope someone will figure this out soon.. would love to use my Sgt p1010 on ad Hoc. thanks in advance.
hey everyone give this a try first
try this using terminal on your galay tab to change the permissions
download a terminal program from the market. when terminal is started type the following command below.
Su
Chmod 777 system/bin/wpa_supplicant
and see if it will connect.
If not I pulled the Nookcolors WPA_Supplicant file that has been edited. It is a wifi only device so it might work for you guys. What I am going to do is compare the regular tabs WPA file to Wifi only version and see what needs to be edited.
Donetus I haven't forgotten you.
Tried chmoding the wpa file with no luck. Thanks for the suggestion. Larry

actually, the wpa adhoc-ed we got for the galaxy tab is coming from the galaxy S forums, so if anyone wants to ring some bells...
I tried Nook color WPA_supplicant file and G Tab started showing available network as well as ad-hoc network however it was not able to connect to network. was failing at acquiring IP address!
That is a good thing as we are closer. I really need to get off my ass and try to fix it now. Gotta be just a few lines that need editing then. Did you try doing a chmod after you used the nookcolors wpa file. Try that I put the commands in the upper post.

Hey If You get frustrated by entering the apns again and again i am having a solution for rooted galaxy 3 users.
just replace my apn-conf file with your native apn-conf file and reboot once .
file : http://www.multiupload.com/L9WXMGDNPN
After doing this open settings -->Wireless and networks -->Mobile Networks-->Access Points Names press menu and select restore default option and You are done.
Now insert any sim and your mobile will automatically retrive apns
Thanks a lot !
im so tired of having to enter it again and again
/etc/apn-conf.xml/
Replace this with the one in this post..
I would suggest using APN Backup & Restore app. Works fine for me. (;
Apn name list for indian users..
Vodafone- www
Aircel- aircelweb
Uninor- uninor
Reliance- smartnet (reliance smart) / rcomnet (reliance gsm)
Docomo- TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET
Bsnl- bsnlnet
Airtel- airtelgprs.com
PS: names are case sensitive..

Hi... Today I'm going to tell you about spoofing your WiFi MAC address....
###Take backup of your phone data before proceeding.... ###
####Neither I nor XDA will be responsible for :-
Bricked Phone
Getting fired from your job because alarm failed
Girlfriend ditched you because u couldn't pick her phone
Thermonuclear war........ Hhehehhehehe###
Requirements: -
1. Rooted Phone
2. Root File Explorer (I personally use ES File Explorer)
3. Hex Editor (It's available on Play Store)
4.A brain..
!!!Important: Take backup of your IMEI both sim!!!!!!
Steps :-
1. First go to Settings>WLAN>Advanced and note down your MAC Address (it will be in a format like xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx)
2. Now open your root file manager..
Goto data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/
Copy file "WIFI" and "WIFI_CUSTOM" to your SD card.
3. Open "WIFI" file in Hex Editor.
4. Locate starting of your MAC in it.... (It must be in 2nd line)
5. DO NOT CHANGE FIRST THREE SETS OF MAC ADDRESS.... Now you can change last 3 sets...
6. Now save file...
7. Overwrite this file with original in data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/
8. Reboot your phone...
It's done!!!!! Check your Mac address in advanced WiFi menu......
Hit thanks if it helped you....
Does this work in any Android version?
I've tried this in JB....... So can say about it only...... You can try it on other version but first make backup in case anything goes wrong...
Just skip all and install pry fi..

If i flash another rom, my mac address will be back to the original ?, or should i change it ?
I cannot help you with this as mtk chipsets doesn't allow monitor mode.....
Google for "Kali Linux" and "Wifi Slax" for more info for cracking Wifi with your laptop.......
You can also post your query at mw002techcare.webs.com..........

It depends on whether new ROM wipes whole data or not...... You can also manually change it......

Hi,
I've been finding DHCP was fairly slow on Android, and I took a quick look at what could be done.
cf http://cafbit.com/entry/rapid_dhcp_or_how_do for the theoritical details
The actual patch is partly from chromiumos, and 5 trivial lines from me
Attached is a dhcpcd binary
Replace your system/bin/dhcpcd with this one, and it should be way faster.
It has been successfully tested on a CodeAurora Qualcomm 4.4 firmware, a MTK 4.4 firmware, and a Nexus9 AOSP 5.0 firmware.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58713128&postcount=75 for update.zip of v3
ChangeLog:
v1:
- per-ssid lease
v2:
- ARP before DHCP request to determine if previous IP/router/dns was good
v3:
- Delete one useless script call, and 1024 useless fd close
v4:
- Revert v2 change
it looks cool thanks i will try it ! can u explain what u did Exactly ? ^^ (en details ^^)

There are two parts:
- First, it is to have a different lease file by AP name (the lease file has the last IP the device got, if you changed WiFi network, this IP was wrong...): in read_lease and write_lease
- One is well explained in the article I mentioned before (basically it tests if the IP routeur he got last time still works, if so, he kind-of bypass actual DHCP), original patch comes from chromium os: http://git.chromium.org/gitweb/?p=c...ff;h=d390ef100b42b7d58a8c59c13b3f6dca7eeb3232
(I see a most-likely security flaw: with a wifi named ../../../...something)

DHCP connection is faster than before. Yes its working on Android 4.4.4
Thanks! Is there any possible drawback of this implementation compared to the normal one?
Not working on my galaxy tab 2 7.0 running CM12.
Had to format system and reflash ROM as it messed it up and WiFi was no longer connecting to router even if I placed back the original file.
You have been warned by me.

dhcpcd is there in cataclysm, but looking through system/bin using root explorer couldn't see it, don't know if it hide by itself.
But still, I able to replace it. So it works good.
