I 've found several threads talking about android with ad hoc networking problem. I 've also downloaded wpa_supplicant file and replaced the original one. But it can not work on my Galaxy Tab P1010 wifi version. Could someone help create a wifi version wpa_supplicant file? That will be much appreciated.
they've just released the WiFi version so it'll be a waiting game for us SGT Wifi version owners.

Do you guys know if all the current roms and installation procedures will work without changes on a Galaxy P1010 Wifi version?
Thanks.
^^ i haven't dared tried using it though .. there might be a compatibility issue and i might end up having my SGT as a paperweight.
but seriously, i would love to but is there a way to restore the SGT to its original state in case something goes wrong? does KIES allow that? 'coz in my Mini Pro, if something goes wrong, i can always use PC Companion / SEUS to reload the OS.
I'm looking forwards to this adhoc wifi on my GTab Wifi too.
I 've also downloaded wpa_supplicant file and replaced the original one. But it can not work on my Galaxy Tab P1010 wifi version. Is it wifi version or 3G version's "wpa_supplicant" file is compatibility?
I'm looking forwards to this adhoc wifi on my GTab Wifi too.
So far I have tried every version of wpa_supplicant and no luck. The best results I got were from version 0.6.10. My SGT can see the ad-hoc connection. it connects but fails to obtain and IP.
I hope someone can get a fix for this. I realy don't want to pay for interent on two devices.
Hmm.... That's really weird. I'm not Dev, but the WPA_supplicant file ought to solve that problem.... Unless they (samsung) have blocked Ad-Hoc in the kernel. That would suck. I'd try a Voodoo kernel and see if that helps. $0.02.
Can someone post the wpa_supplicant from the wifi version? Im not the best with this stuff but ill give it a go.

yeah . .after replacing the file, not only does it not connect to the adhoc network, it also fails to detect any wireless connection

Thanks so much for this tread, was having the same problem. Hope someone will figure this out soon.. would love to use my Sgt p1010 on ad Hoc. thanks in advance.
hey everyone give this a try first
try this using terminal on your galay tab to change the permissions
download a terminal program from the market. when terminal is started type the following command below.
Su
Chmod 777 system/bin/wpa_supplicant
and see if it will connect.
If not I pulled the Nookcolors WPA_Supplicant file that has been edited. It is a wifi only device so it might work for you guys. What I am going to do is compare the regular tabs WPA file to Wifi only version and see what needs to be edited.
Donetus I haven't forgotten you.
Tried chmoding the wpa file with no luck. Thanks for the suggestion. Larry

actually, the wpa adhoc-ed we got for the galaxy tab is coming from the galaxy S forums, so if anyone wants to ring some bells...
I tried Nook color WPA_supplicant file and G Tab started showing available network as well as ad-hoc network however it was not able to connect to network. was failing at acquiring IP address!
That is a good thing as we are closer. I really need to get off my ass and try to fix it now. Gotta be just a few lines that need editing then. Did you try doing a chmod after you used the nookcolors wpa file. Try that I put the commands in the upper post.

I just got this
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre7.apk
works in AP mode with encryption, i'm running pmf v2.1 (rom version, not android version) and everything is good. Thanks a ton to the devs, sorry if this was posted already but i haven't seen it. So i figured I would give people an update...
Installing now, I don't even see this posted on their site for download though (even though it's clearly coming from their site), how odd
edit: does this still require fw_bcm4329.bin in the android.tether folder?

Where did you try to put a 7?
So the folder android.tether still has to be there? Ugh! I thought I read some where that once you go to 2.2, you no longer need that folder..Now I need to find that file again and reinstall it..
Okay, which version of Wireless tether.apk is working for 2.2(froyo)?

The APK he linked works fine. Copy the fw_bcm4329_apsta.bin file in the /system/etc/firmware folder into the /sdcard/android.tether folder, and rename it to fw_bcm4329.bin. Then install the linked APK, tether to your heart's content, confirmed to be working broadcasting in AP mode and works perfectly

Again pardon my ignorance but I haven't had to put a fw_bcm4329_apsta.bin on my phone and Wireless tether works beautifully for me.
Works, thanks!

Works great on my Evo! I just had to install the apk, didn't have to do any custom steps.

Same here, if there is support for this in the kernel (for example any of Hydra's Kernels should work), then this file is not required.

thats because the Incredible doesn't allow anything Apple to connect to it, it is against their code lol
On a real note, my friend came over yesterday and he had his blackberry and iphone connected. What rom are you running?
I don't know about iPhone except that my friend with an iPhone could connect to me fine. However, some blackberries can't connect to an Adhoc network and I came through as Adhoc instead of wifi so it wouldn't connect. ON another note I showed on the same friend with an iPhone on her laptop as 802.11b/g/n I was the fastest option she had in our office.

I think you can use the patch of wpa_supplicant file from my build.. check out Jaws-MIUI-rc1 build..
use HD2ONE Build
or just replace the file as mentioned above.
I asked also on how to enable Ad-Hoc on my sense (when i was using it), but none of the methods worked for me (supplicant, .so modules, ecc). At the end i used the Connectify program on Windows 7 and this worked.
(Connectify is a Windows 7 software, that if you have a compatible wifi module, it will make it work as an AP instead of adhoc, and HD2 connects with no patches as it sees it as normal wifi and not adhoc)
very interesting post!!! I was looking for something like that but running MCCMjoon's Desire HD V2 and or V3.4. What files or what combination will work? Do not really want to flash to any other ROM at the moment
Thanks guys.
tnx
thanks for all replies.
so which patch i should use?

Of course, Astro has no permissions to write in system folders! You need to use Root Explorer! I know it's paid, no warez here. PM me for further assistance.
Hi all,
i'm so keen to get cifsmanager working on the 10.1v, has anyone managed to get it going as yet?
I think you need a working cifs.ko. its not availiable yet. I dont now if this files are galaxy tab specific or if you can use the files from other honeycomp tablets.

i managed to find a xoom zip file for rooting, it had the files in there, but I couldn't get them into the system modules directory. Is there a way to install them or must I root my device again? Appreciate the info.

In most case you will need ,I guess, root to be able to load cifs module. Besides cifsmanager from the market, I used another app named mount manager which give you easier parameter setting options for mounting. Again it asks root first..and compatible cifs module

thanx man, will give it a try
i found this, but unsuccessfully been able to get the .ko file into the kernel....
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...-fi-root-now-available-sans-bricking-feature/
whats the best way to get the .ko file into the system/module/lib/ directory, can I just go in via fastboot? I'm a bit unclear, I dont really want to root again and have everything reset again, but if I have to, I will, just want to make sure theres not another way...thanx for responses
there is a cifs module released in a very first coutom rom img in the forum. you may want to give it a try.

I've been looking for the same thing. Idone a bit of reading up on WPA_supplicant.conf last night, and managed to get ad-hoc mode activated, somewhat but still working on it.
It shows the "ad-hoc activated" warning but haven't managed to connect properly yet..
the original WPA_supplicant.conf file looks like:
update_config=1
ctrl_interface=wlan0
eapol_version=1
ap_scan=1
fast_reauth=1
p2p_listen_reg_class=81
p2p_listen_channel=1
p2p_oper_reg_class=115
p2p_oper_channel=48
device_name=SAMSUNG_MOBILE
manufacturer=SAMSUNG_ELECTRONICS
model_name=SAMSUNG_MOBILE
model_number=2012
serial_number=19691101
From what I could gather you need to add:
Network{
settings in here
}
an example config and explanation here:
google: wpa_supplicant.conf, example,
(an example ad-hoc config is near the end of the page)
May end up having to edit the WPA_supplicant itself I'm not too sure yet but I'm going t keep hacking away for a few days to see what I can come up with, any help would be appreciated!

Hi guys!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 rooted. I'm not able to change its mac address by using Mac Changer from Google Play. I was able to change it using my latest phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4. The app says couldn't change mac address using hard change. If I try to use simple change it says changed but didn't change as well.
I've read many topics about it, there're few solutions to change it but neither of them have solved my problem.
Before you ask me, I need to change its mac address because I can't connect to my company's wifi using the stock one.
Can somebody help me?
Have you tried any other software ? Did you give the mac changer superuser permissions ? Ill help to troubleshoot.

is that the wifi mac changer in playstore by Osama Abukmail? neither simple or hard is not working for me. I was able to change it twice and then after some updates (not mac changer), it totally does not work anymore.
could you give me the details of your device? I also saw a good one but stilll, it does not work on my device.
i saw another app and i think this is much better if you manage to make it work on your device.
[https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xnano.android.changemymac&hl=en
its free and gives you the option to save profile that wifi mac changer does not provide if your version is not premium
[Update]
Im still working on my way to use Wifi Mac Changer by Osama Abukmail. Also now its totally FREE! Anyone can use all the features already.
But with this update when I do Hard change, its turning on and off my wifi twice. Still does'nt work for me. Anyone here having the same issue?
