Can anyone point me to a OSX guide to put the phone back to stock? I made a nandroid backup but am not sure how to get stock recovery and relock bootloader properly so that they don't know I messed around with it. thanks in advance.

I know it's annoying and as a fellow Mac user I wish there was a good toolkit like the above that worked in OSX but right now there really isn't (as far as I know).
Wug's toolkit is awesome. I used it to unroot/re-lock my first N4 before sending it back when my RMA unit came. The process is so easy and straightforward with that kit that it would be worth borrowing someone's PC for 30 minutes or so to use it.
If I root it on my Linux I'll still be straight putting files on from my mac right ?

just download the SDK or mac platform-tools then unpack the google stock image to that directory and run the script google supplies.
phone will be wiped and flashed with latest software ready to be returned; its the easiest way rather than flashing each element individually.

Exactly this. How come people don't get their backup routine sorted before blindly jumping into rooting? I still baffles me to this day...
You don't really need to on Nexus devices, you just grab the factory image from Google and reflash it.

There's no one click method I know of for the Nexus S.
What do you mean you can't root & it won't budge? This phone is about as easy they come (without some one click app): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931865
Install the android sdk on your computer.
Put the su.zip file on your sdcard partition of the phone.
Put the phone in fastboot mode.
Fastboot flash the recovery.
Select recovery.
Select install zip from sdcard.
Flash it.
Reboot.
You're done.
If your computer doesn't recognize the phone while it's in the bootloader, you gotta install the google Nexus S drivers or the one from PDAnet. That was where I got stuck at 1st when I tried rooting. Fastboot couldn't find my phone because I had the generic windows drivers.
Also if you have PDANet on, turn it off before putting your phone in fastboot mode.

Interesting. So the steps on the referenced one-click method you posted are:
1) put your phone in fastboot
2) do the fastboot oem unlock command manually.
3) run a batch file that contains two lines (fastboot-windows.exe flash boot boot.superboot.img & fastboot-windows.exe reboot).
I guess that's easier than putting your phone in fastboot directly and typing in a command to flash clockwork, then selecting a zip file to install from clockwork, but not much.
The drawbacks here are of course that it's superboot, and that it requires you to unlock the bootloader. I guess it's useful if you're really noob, but it only saves you typing one command.
The noob part is very true. However I prefer my bootloader unlocked anyhow.

You do not need an unlocked bootloader (currently) to use custom roms, or to root, or to flash clockwork recovery, etc...

Of course, but since you contradicted my statement earlier that one disadvantage to the posted method here was that it had you unlock the bootloader by replying that you like having yours unlocked, I was trying to pin down if there was an advantage to unlocking the bootloader that had been discovered that I hadn't heard yet.
There's indication on git for our phone that the next update includes a change to the bootloader being able to use the fastboot boot command while locked. Unknown what that will actually do in terms of just fastboot flashing clockwork to apply root and custom roms.
I c wut u did there. I'm not sure how the update is going to affect things ATM. I keep it unlocked for "in case sh*t" happens. Never know what an update will bring in changes to rom management.

So here is my dilemma. I was having problems with my Google apps for whatever reason. Manually updated to 4.2 and still has the same problems. Did a factory reset and the problems went away. Decided I wanted to get rid of root and relock the bootloader since I'm going to give her thus one because I'm upgrading to the 32GB model. Wanted to get rid of the superuser icon in the app drawer mainly. I went to googles site and downloaded the factory images for 4.2. Used it in conjunction with the nexus 7 toolkit. Long story short for whatever reason the process didn't complete. Pretty sure I don't have a factory image at all at this point. I tried to use the nexus 7 toolkit but of course now it won't see my device. My tablet is still unlocked. I'm assuming I'm going to have to manually push the image to the phone. If any body can start me off in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated. Especially if someone were able to provide links to the info I may need. In the mean time I'm looking around on Google. Haven't found anything concrete yet. As a side note if anyone could tell me how to actually turn off the tablet do I can preserve the battery it would be appreciated. I can only get it to show fast boot mode or the Google screen. Can't power down.

Dunno... after trying to update yesterday, twrp, cwm, stock wasn't having it, had to put stock boot loader back on, everything wiped, not a problem....nandroid backup....toolkit shows it working but nothing, toolkit said everything was there....only unlock and root worked, everything else was borked.
And I had to use Windows for the tool kit. Doh.
Toolkit has been a bane for me, finally got 4.2 using root keeper.
Off-topic.... maybe.
Lesson learnt... definitely.

Ok. I used a super wipe script. Now my device has nothing but the boot loader and twrp is still installed. I was on the new ota 4.2.2. I also have 4.18 boot loader. I have no os and all of my backups are gone so I can't restore anything. How can I install this from a computer and push it to my device? I really need help. I'm not brand new. But I've never been in this situation. Thanks to anyone who can help make my device operable again.

If TWRP is installed and you can boot in TWRP, try to mount the usb and copy the backup to the device. I'm not sure, but you could use adb push in the recovery, too
Otherwise just boot into bootloader, flash the stock rom, boot, root, copy the backup on the sdcard, flash TWRP, restore it

I thought you had a backup on your PC, if not you will loose all your data
Do it like the guy above said, or just download the stock image (for your device) from here, extract everything and just run the flash-all.bat (if you are on windows). This will flash the stock rom so you should be able to boot your device again

It seems like for me downloading the stock image and running the flash all bat would be the best solution for my level of experience. I just don't know what you mean by running the flash all bat. Do I need sdk or something to do that? I need the most simple solution possible with my level of experience. But thanks a million.

No need to install anything! Just download the package for your device and extract it. Now open the archive and there is a file called flash-all.bat.
Now you hold power and volume down on your nexus 7 to get into fasboot mode (the bootloader). If you are there, plug the nexus via usb in your pc.
Now just double click the flash-all.bat and it will flash the stock rom
If this won't work, because windows can't detect the device, download the Nexus 7 Toolkit, install it and open it. There's an option to install the drivers

See the link I posted earlier, there you can find the 4.2.2 image for the nexus 7 wifi only (grouper/nakasi)
I'm on phone right now so I can't post the link, just search for nexus 7 toolkit on Google, or see the general/development section. It should be pinned there

Just download it and extract it. Then you go in the extracted folder and you can see some files and the flash-all.bat. This will do everything for you. No need to place the package anywhere, just do it like I said and it should work. Try it

I have accidently formatted y nexus 4. Now there is no os in the device. how can i install os in my device now . Please assists what to do? I just have clockworkmod recovery v6.0.1.9 installed. I have tried to download and install the factory iamge from nexus 4 toolkit but it didnt work for me. Cause the tool kit could not download the factory image and install in my device.

For the manual, Follow the instruction, step by step http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
For the toolkit, you dont have to push it to your phone, leave it in your computer, go to fastboot then use the Restock function in the toolkit to restock your phone.
If you didn't download the stock image by the toolkit, it will ask you to download the image, just choose an option that allows you to pick the img from your computer.

If you download one of the images from the link inside it will be a batch file (flash-all.bat) you can just double click that and it will do everything for you.
U didn't format your Device. You prob screwed up your partitions or folders that contained system files. I would recommend what the other guy said.

I really appreciate all the helps.Everything went well. But got stuck on the X animation. Os is not loading . I waited more than 20 mins.
Turn your phone off, then go to bootloader, choose the option to go to Recovery Mode. You'll see the android dude lying with a red triangle. Press power or power+up+down or some combinations like that, I dont really remember, to enter the Options of Recovery mode. Wipe cache and do a factory data reset. Reboot.

Everything good now. Got my nexus up and running again.
I'm more surprised on why people don't read up on everything BEFORE rooting the phone in the first place? Surely it's common sense to know how to recover the phone should something go wrong?...

We used to burn newbies for asking how to preform simple tasks such as rooting because the instructions are always in the stickies, but if we do it now everyone will think we are mean. *shrug*

Did it several times and still with same problem...
Installed CWM Recovery, wiped cache partition, wiped data/factory reset and still with same problem...
Now it stucks in "Google" text... doesn't even show the "X" animation...

So after unlocking I got into recovery and earsed the data(as mentioned in the instructions)..
Now basically the tablet doesn't boot up to home.
First. Dont use toolkits. No disrespect to the dev but it is way better to do it manually.
Second which recovery did you use?
Third what exactly did you wipe?

You can re install the rom by going to https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantaraykot49h and picking the image you need.
Just hold the power button and the both volume buttons down at the same time to get into the fastboot mode before you run the image restore
program. I hope this helps. Good Luck

Good advice but for a noob needs a bit more about being in command line with the adb and fastboot commands in path. I use Linux desktop. I bricked a n7 last week due to a dodgy connector socket/cable during a flash and had to type the flash-all script commands myself a few times til it worked.

On my bricked N7 I pulled cable reinserted and retried. Keep retrying each command in the script. Worked eventually for me.

You may want to seek for the guide in the Nexus 10 Q&A regarding flashing stock again.
Can you please go a little further in details about how "bricked" it actually is? What exactly happened? There seem to be missing some important info regarding your issue.
