My battery stats and consumption have been pretty good and whatnot but I just realized it's off and sometimes doesn't count down consistently. But then it will catch up real quick. I am assuming the battery chip/driver are able to measure amps and not guesstimate voltage because of this behavior. I charged battery all the way up, unplugged, turned power off, plug back in til full and started up again but the behavior is still erratic. I am pretty sure I am getting somewhat accurate readings, it is just doing so in an erratic method. Ideas or references I missed? Anybody else notice?
As a side note I thought I was losing 1-2% per 6-8hours of standby but I realized there is a bug or the battery driver doesn't read correctly in standby. Anybody notice this too?
I voided my warranty.

The battery reporting is definitely inconsistent on this device. I've tried pinging it via terminal emulator to "force" it to re-poll voltage and capacity, with no luck, it doesn't update it to where I know it should be. Not sure if anyone has dissected this battery yet, many Li-Po's have an internal chip, not sure about this one.
I am quite sure it has a chip. Trying to confirm if it has a chip that measures amperage. I am guessing driver is bad or bugs.
I voided my warranty.
One thing I've noticed is that it seems to poll correctly if I charge to full and don't reboot at all. As soon as I reboot it starts flatlining after that point.

Here's my best example yet. Upon plugging in it's quickly gone from 15 to 25...err....29% however. If I charge to 100% and don't reboot after that it doesn't drift. Something breaks the phones ability to read voltage/capacity for some reason upon rebooting. Stock or not stock, same behaviour. A few reboots in there, a couple where the % went UP.

There is no battery calibration method that is anything more than a placebo. Just flash your ROMs at 100% and don't charge your phone 5 times a day. Let it drain and fully recharge once in awhile. Past that, there isn't much to be done.
Edit: Franco mentioned in his kernel thread that the battery reporting seems a little wonky. He is hoping it is addressed in 4.2.2.
Charge your phone fully while it is off to 100 then do a battery star wipe. Let drain till around 5 to 10 from regular use and then charge all the way up.
And remember that batt wipes do nothing more than have your rom read the battery more accurately, it had nothing to do with giving it better battery life. You are gonna want to flash a more efficient kernel or rom to achieve that.

Hard to find info about the li-po battery, especially the one in this phone. I wouldn't rule out poorly designed circuitry at this point either. Love the phone, question build quality.

Wiping battery stats does nothing more than reset the current charge cycle's percent usage by app/process. That's it, it won't increase the accuracy of capacity reporting.

our sgs think our battery its empty at 3,7v or 3,68.
if we could change the limit for the battery is considered empty, somewhere in the 3.1 to 3 V, thinking how much could keep a battery, the phone started.
if the battery is not empty exaggerated, I believe it can be used without problems.
Sony Ericsson uses batteries to 3.2 somewhere if I remember well.
I dont know how I could do something like that, that's why I posted here this idea.
from here http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
"Power loss through Protection Circuit
Besides common aging, a Li-ion battery can also fail because of undercharge. This occurs if a Li-ion pack is stored in a discharged condition. Self-discharge gradually lowers the voltage of the already discharged battery and the protection circuit cuts off between 2.20 and 2.90V/cell. Some chargers and battery analyzers (including those from Cadex) provide a wake-up feature, or “boost,” to re-energize and recharge these seemingly dead Li-ion batteries."

sony ericsson use this trick to have longer battery life, anyway we dont use a battery 2 years.
i dont now how to implement this trick.
I have the battery monitor app and in stock XXJVK, at 01% the battery is between 3.4 and 3.5 volts.
Fully charged is 4.18 volts or thereabouts but this falls fairly quickly to 4.0 volts which is where the battery stats need to be accurate to show true percentage and not just jump down to 80%.
Fully charged for me takes about 3 hours but I charge all my batteries (three using a separate charger and not in the phone itself.

I wish I could get some stats like that. The screenshots are while I was sleeping and 7% seems like a lot of drain for it just sitting there. Only thing on was wifi. Cell standby time on is always the same as the time on battery, is that normal?
edit: the phone now shows 79% battery left with time on battery of 12h 46m; cell standby the exact same; screen on at 9% with time on of 48m. I'm fully stock and running power save mode.

No, they will carry over until you re-charge or change the battery.
I was going to make a thread like this, but it was already here! Here are my results after my second full charge and regular usage. The results are on par with my fully modified and decked out Epic. Of course, this device has a bigger battery, but it also has a larger screen. Between the hardware and software upgrades, I'm very impressed with the stock battery life. This includes wifi on at all times as well as signal w/data. Some motion features are enabled, nfc is not, and google sync is off (I use stock email). Now how much further can this be improved?? Remember not to be discouraged, Screen On times will vary depending on what the phone is used for. Showing pictures is much less battery intensive than watching YouTube videos.

Whoa, sometimes by phone stats go crazy, but that one on the right is strange. Probably need to hit a few cycles to get the stats accurate.
Is it normal to see an uptick in battery even if the device is not plugged in to recharge? I'm guessing this might iron out after the battery stabilizes a bit, but I am definitely noticing that after use, if I leave the tablet on the table unplugged and return to it a while later, the battery reads (sometimes significantly) higher than when I left it. Battery history also shows a rise as well. I just think it's strange, as the unit was not actually plugged in or charging during that period.

My old phone used to mess with the stats. Let it run out of juice, charge full up with the device off, unplug, turn on and you'll have fresh battery stats.
From SlashGear Review
http://www.slashgear.com/nexus-7-2013-review-29292015/
Google quotes up to nine hours of HD video playback or up to ten hours of web-browsing from a full charge. Our own testing suggests these are pretty accurate estimates; with heavy use, including Netflix media streaming over WiFi, push email and social networking turned on, some photography, and browsing, we managed almost nine hours of use before the 2013 Nexus 7 ran out.

Has anyone had any trouble charging after the update? The one that promised optimized battery life? I always charge my phone in the morning so it's not just sitting at 100% during the night. I gave it almost 2 hours this morning and it only got to 67%. I used the Ampere app and it starts at like 100mAh and then slowly goes to about 800mAh and then fluctuates in between. I know nothing is wrong with the charger because I plugged in my note 3 with the same app and it showed 1200mAh which is what the charger is rated for. I've also had slightly worse battery life after updating. The day I updated I could only get 3:28 sot, and before updating I could easily get 4 and a half to 5+ sot. Anybody have a problem like this or maybe a fix?
Hello, yesterday was my first day after the update and my battery life went from 3.5 hrs SoT too 4.5-5.0 hrs. Yesterday was the first 5hrs of SOT I've ever had. I'm happy my device is normal. It all depends on the usage like today I'm using my phone a little more. I'm using more battery. But in not tripping if I wanted to save battery I know I could!! It's very possible.

Try restarting your phone. Might sound dumb I know but I've had instances where fast charging didn't work until I restarted or that my battery percentage was not "correct"
I've restarted many times now and tried wiping the cache but still nothing. The battery seems to be depleting semi-normally again, still not as good as it was but the charging still takes a long time.
Have you tried it without the app?
By the way, the phone using Qhich Charge 2.0 has built in software that communicates with the charger. No need for a 3rd party app.
I haven't had any problems charging after the update.
The app doesn't help charge the phone, it just shows how many mAhs are going into the phone from the brick. Since the phone has been charging so slowly I wanted to see if power coming in was being slowed or something for some reason

If all else fails, do a factory reset. I did after this last updated since it seems like it was a pretty important one. Differently get better sot, better battery drain while idle. Everything is backed up in the cloud so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I've tried the reset, knowing that a factory reset would have to be next. But charging seems to be back to normal now. I still think it's a little slower than it was, but when I plug it in, it shows anywhere from an hour to an hour 20(when my phone is under 10%). I think it's coming back slowly

Pure Nexus isn't great for battery life compared with other ROMs I've been on. Android doesn't allow some apps to be optimized. If your battery life seriously concerns you then you might want to try an app like Naptime which puts your phone into deep doze as soon as the screen goes off. You could also download a kernel manager if you don't have one and see if you are using a performance oriented governor or something more battery friendly.

If your phone truly is brand new, you're going to need to wait longer than 3 days to achieve optimal battery life. What is the date of manufacture in recovery>>barcodes? There are a few good apps that will tell you definitively what is draining your battery. BBS and GSam are two. It is also a great time to install Accubattery and get a benchmark on your current battery capacity vs. design.

The problem is not with stock Android 7.1.1. It could be your battery is defective or degraded. That's why I asked if your phone really is "brand new" or refurbished, and what the date of manufacture is. Install Accubattery and use it to calculate your battery's capacity vs. design.
Last few months my battery is also getting worse. Accubattery says capacity is around 2000mAh right now. I did often charge my battery, even when it wasn't below 50%. Maybe that killed it.

Not your fault mate, regardless of how you charged it. Battery was defective. Get an RMA if you can through Google or Huawei (even if it is out of warranty). If not, there are a few places selling good replacement batteries. Install yourself if you can, or take it somewhere to have the battery swapped out. Good luck to you.
