Problems charging after latest t-mobile update - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Has anyone had any trouble charging after the update? The one that promised optimized battery life? I always charge my phone in the morning so it's not just sitting at 100% during the night. I gave it almost 2 hours this morning and it only got to 67%. I used the Ampere app and it starts at like 100mAh and then slowly goes to about 800mAh and then fluctuates in between. I know nothing is wrong with the charger because I plugged in my note 3 with the same app and it showed 1200mAh which is what the charger is rated for. I've also had slightly worse battery life after updating. The day I updated I could only get 3:28 sot, and before updating I could easily get 4 and a half to 5+ sot. Anybody have a problem like this or maybe a fix?

Hello, yesterday was my first day after the update and my battery life went from 3.5 hrs SoT too 4.5-5.0 hrs. Yesterday was the first 5hrs of SOT I've ever had. I'm happy my device is normal. It all depends on the usage like today I'm using my phone a little more. I'm using more battery. But in not tripping if I wanted to save battery I know I could!! It's very possible.

I had problems charging the phone using the wireless charger ,I put the phone on the charger overnight, when I wake up the phone was hot (that was the first time it happened)it was charged to 64%,plugged to the USB charger and it's been working normal since

Try restarting your phone. Might sound dumb I know but I've had instances where fast charging didn't work until I restarted or that my battery percentage was not "correct"

I've restarted many times now and tried wiping the cache but still nothing. The battery seems to be depleting semi-normally again, still not as good as it was but the charging still takes a long time.

Have you tried it without the app?
By the way, the phone using Qhich Charge 2.0 has built in software that communicates with the charger. No need for a 3rd party app.
I haven't had any problems charging after the update.

The app doesn't help charge the phone, it just shows how many mAhs are going into the phone from the brick. Since the phone has been charging so slowly I wanted to see if power coming in was being slowed or something for some reason

Ugh I am now having this issue after the update. I plus it in and it's now telling me it will take 5 hours to charge (lock-screen). Is your phone still doing the same?

I just disabled fast charging. Restarted. Then re-enabled. Back to normal now.

Does the last update from tmobile does increase your battery life? Or at least gives you better battery.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

My battery life is about the same now, but it's still the charging part. It's shown it'll take about 3 hours to charge but when I let it charge yesterday it's still going as of now with 4+ SoT. So battery life is okay, it's the charging. I'll try disabling and restarting and see if that helps
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app

If all else fails, do a factory reset. I did after this last updated since it seems like it was a pretty important one. Differently get better sot, better battery drain while idle. Everything is backed up in the cloud so it wasn't that big of a deal.

I've tried the reset, knowing that a factory reset would have to be next. But charging seems to be back to normal now. I still think it's a little slower than it was, but when I plug it in, it shows anywhere from an hour to an hour 20(when my phone is under 10%). I think it's coming back slowly

Nexus 7 Battery Life

Hi! I recently got a Nexus 7 and I am somewhat disappointed in the battery life. I am only getting around 3 hrs of battery life and is draining quickly while idle. The battery is also draining while being used while connected to my pc. I am using Jellybro rom along with Trinity Alpha 64. Can anyone recommend the best Rom/Kernel combination for battery life ? I read that Trinity is great for battery life so I'm doubting the Rom (however it works great on my Galaxy Nexus). As I dont always use the same things on my tablet I cant really test the different roms myself.
Thanks

I'm getting great battery life on my stock N7 :|
I tried it the other day, used it all day and it died after around 8-9hrs. Was tethering via bluetooth, brightness set to auto, and either played games, used FB messenger, or read Wall St Journal frequently throughout the day.
Sync and location enabled.
Oh and the N7 will probably discharge faster than your PC can charge it. Typical USB ports on a PC only output .5A of power. Chargers meant for tablets usually provide about 2A of power. So thats another issue.
Might I suggest running the N7 till it shuts itself off due to no battery, then letting it sit and charge overnight till its 100%?

Thanks for the reply Can you please tell me the Screen on time ? Since then I switched to Paranoid Android so I'll how it goes but maybe the stock rom has a better battery life ?
Thanks

If its enough to make you mad then its prolly not right.
To say your doing in wrong would be a far shot but your tablet is definitely doing it wrong..lol. I was just saying the other night to my girl that I was super happy with the battery because it lasts all day for me. From 7am in the morning till 12 at night. Of course im not using it every waking moment but I do check it/use it as much as I would have normally used my phone. During work I am on wifi till about 430 and then from 430-8/9 while im in class im tethering using it almost the whole time, then when im home for the rest of the night I will be on wifi. The things I do vary from webbrowsing (reddit, xda, etc) emailing attachments, listening to google music and GPS/texting. (yes I use tablet talk which is why I rarely use my phone anymore except to setup tethering)
If you are having any issues with your battery I recommend to get a battery app to reset the stats and try again. If not return to stock then try that method again.. then if NOT return.

Just turn off your google account auto-sync and your battery life should increase dramatically. I use the power widget to toggle sync.
Okay here are some screenshots of my battery life... Not sure if its uploading properly though since im doing this through the app.....
EDIT: Looks like it didnt work... But basically I had about 20.5hrs of total battery time. Screen on for a total of 5.5hrs. Bluetooth on the entire time, WiFi on for about 6 hours.

My N7 discharges faster than the google provided AC mains charger can recharge it. That seems pretty pathetic to me. How is it for others?

Battery lies.

OK so I have had this phone two days now and noticed an oddity. I had about 43% battle according to the phone. I rebooted and then jumped down to 20% or so. Anyone else see this.

I think all Android users faced some issues with battery status..
Ex. When the phone charged 80% if restart it the battery might decrease by 5% each time... while when it's less than 10% each time the battery decrease from 1-2% max ! ... that's really not reasonable
In addition, when i charge my phone 8 hour the battery would stay 17 hour.. while if i change it until it's got 100% charged "according to battery status" it wouldn't stay on more than 10 hours!!! Wipping battery and other solutions also didn't help by the way !!!!

I will try that
I had a similar problem and never solved it. My battery typically lasts 32 hours new. After a few weeks it went to 16. Frustrated I let it "die" to find that it actually continued to run for 16 additional hours literally at 0%.
Unplugging the battery fixed it for that current charge cycle but upon recharging it went back to its old ways.
I eventually went through the trouble to purchase an OEM replacement and further open up my Razr M to replace. Things were great for another couple of weeks until the same exact problem happened again.
Frustrated I go back and forth between my Inc 4g and my Razr M depending on if I need a reliable battery read (traveling, etc). I like the Razr M so much I might just buy another and hope it doesn't crap out like this one, but then again there is probably a new season of Droid devices coming in a few months.

have you tried one of those battery calibration apps? they require root though.
as for me, my battery yesterday showed 34% while in the system. but then when I booted in TWRP recovery, it said my battery was at 22%.
Can't you wipe battery stats in cwm too? That could help...

Users regarding battery life from Droid Turbo

I've been waiting for my battery to die. This is my normal use. I just do what I normally do.
Streamed music to my car while driving for a while
browsed reddit/xda and other forums a lot... mainly on WiFi.
Had data/wifi disabled when I didn't need it on... really no point. Takes 3 second to enable it again
~50 texts with a few MMS sent. I'm not a popular person
checked voice mail once.
2-3 bars where I live.

Btw That was an old screenshot I just had in my gallery from not long after I got the phone.

I have the moto Maxx, Mexican firmware. I´m from Argentina.
Could you tell me guys the version and the baseband of yours?
Because it seems that the latin america version the battery is barely poor.
Thanks!
Damn... Going beast mode with this battery. Would've gone longer, but gotta use it more tomorrow when I'm out. Ya, I know I only have 4hrs of SOT. Haven't been using much
I assume anyone getting more than 48 hours of battery life is turning off data, or at least disabling updates/background data. Just out of curiosity, do you always keep that turned off, or do you just do that when you're seeing how much you can squeeze out of the battery? In my mind, the big reason to get a device with a big battery is so you don't have to baby the battery like that.

I had problem with my N910C,drop around 13/12/10 to 2%...I just pull out battery, than inster again, power on phone and wait to shut down..Than I charge to 100%(dont touch device) and now seems all okay
but this,try to change batt
I'm using my note 4 for almost 1.5 years with an external battery charger and second battery. Both original batteries were giving problem on usage like phone shuts down when battery around %25-35 and if i pull out battery and insert again, battery level shows %1-2 then closes again. My screen on time was around 1.5-2 hours.
I bought yesterday a new Deji brand battery, in first %100 to %1 run i got 5 hours 7 minutes screen on time. Even i bought this device i couldn't get this times. I'm gonna buy another deji brand battery for sure. Samsung's original note 4 batteries really sucks this time.

Could 7.1.1 battery drain be from apps not optimized

Optimize all apps on 7.1.1system apps is there a fast multi select way
Noticed upon boot never does it and after looking into battery history telling me to do this but setting's menu under apps don't have a method . By the way this is on pure nexus ROM.

Pure Nexus isn't great for battery life compared with other ROMs I've been on. Android doesn't allow some apps to be optimized. If your battery life seriously concerns you then you might want to try an app like Naptime which puts your phone into deep doze as soon as the screen goes off. You could also download a kernel manager if you don't have one and see if you are using a performance oriented governor or something more battery friendly.

If your phone truly is brand new, you're going to need to wait longer than 3 days to achieve optimal battery life. What is the date of manufacture in recovery>>barcodes? There are a few good apps that will tell you definitively what is draining your battery. BBS and GSam are two. It is also a great time to install Accubattery and get a benchmark on your current battery capacity vs. design.

The problem is not with stock Android 7.1.1. It could be your battery is defective or degraded. That's why I asked if your phone really is "brand new" or refurbished, and what the date of manufacture is. Install Accubattery and use it to calculate your battery's capacity vs. design.
Last few months my battery is also getting worse. Accubattery says capacity is around 2000mAh right now. I did often charge my battery, even when it wasn't below 50%. Maybe that killed it.

Not your fault mate, regardless of how you charged it. Battery was defective. Get an RMA if you can through Google or Huawei (even if it is out of warranty). If not, there are a few places selling good replacement batteries. Install yourself if you can, or take it somewhere to have the battery swapped out. Good luck to you.
