I downloaded the jellybean update last night, super excited and eager. My phone powers up, and the blacks in my wallpaper no longer flow together. It looks like color banding on a bad TV. I'm not sure of a better way to explain this. If any off you have seen it, you'd know exactly what I mean.
I can try adding a screenshot, but I'm pretty sure it's bit the images fault, as it looked okay prior to the update, but I'll try anyway.
If anyone else is experiencing this, or knows off a fix let me know.

Yeah.. =/
Unfortunately, I knew a screenshot wouldn't really help since it's a rendering issue. I have two other friends with RAZRs. One has a RAZR HD, and the otheras a RAZR MAXX HD like myself. Ever since the Jellybean update, wallpapers that go from absolute black to some color, band and dont blend well. It looks awful..
Could you tell us if you had made any changes to your phone (root, TiBu frozen apps, etc.)? I'm on a MAXX HD also and not having any issues at all. Phone was stock before update (just the ICS OTA installed).

I've made zero changes to the phone. Phone was completely stock prior to update. My tethering isnt working either through the native Verizon app anymore either. I tried to download FoxFi, and that just crashes the phone when i enable it
Did you try to re-apply the wallpaper or try a different one? I'm wondering if the image itself is screwed up. Usually banding on AMOLED screens will show when you have gray/dark shading. I've applied several of the stock dark wallpapers and they all look great - no banding at all.

I've had no issues of banding on ICS. My friend who has a normal RAZR HD has zero banding on the jellybean update. My friend, who has a RAZR MAXX HD as well, also has the banding issue after updating to jellybean.

Did it remove any of the pixelation from the status bar icons, etc?
you can't change a physical thing with software. I have noticed no difference with the screen. Status bar still looks the same, everything looks the same.
the only thing they could have changed is the utility to set backgrounds, but i haven't changed mine so i have no idea.
a question, when we update the atrix for this version, we will lose all installed app?
No, when it is pushed OTA to all Atrix 4G's it will keep all apps and probably most, if not all, of your settings.

its 8:43 CT here and still no update yet. Wonder what time they are pushing it out?
since the update, mine irons shirts now (although its still making a mess of the collar).
I noticed pictures on my phone look much nicer now. Before looking at pictures I had taken and transfered to the phone looked washed out like the white balance was really off. Looking at the same picture on my phone and an Iphone the Iphone displayed the picture way more clear and crisp. Since I did the update that has changed. The pictures look the way they are supposed to now. I'm sure what they did was change display settings to correct the problem.
I think motorola don't will put update to all users for now =/
Hi all,
I am a new nexus s owner, and from what I can gather Google changed the color temp with the 2.3.4 update. Is there any way to revert to the old temp with CM7? After playing with a GSII at an at&t store, the nexus s looks like complete crap, I really don't get why it was changed to begin with.
Thanks.

It was changed to be more accurate. Unfortunately bluer colors are associated with "more vibrant" and "brighter" even if they really aren't correct.
Quite a few custom Roms implement voodoo color or reverted. I couldn't stand the awful blue tint on everything, so it was a welcomed change.

I recommend matr1x, it's my favorite kernel for the nexus s and will do what you are looking to do, but netarchy and trinity both are compatible with voodoo colors as well...there are others but those are mainly the ones which I have used.
Check out this thread for voodoo color settings which will probably be more to your liking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002090
The stock CM7 kernel from the latest nightlies supports voodoo. You just need the voodoo control app to make the adjustments.

That's not entirely correct. My screen was fine pre 2.3.4 and after it was far too blue. I'm well aware of the way manufacturers boost the blues to make their displays brighter and the change did that for my phone. Always hated it.

Well those are the warmth changes that were made kernel side. If you go back to the old threads I even linked into the commits for everyone who swore it was accidental on Google's side. The color pallette was made warmer, not cooler.
If your screen got cooler after the pallette was made warmer it sounds like something else is going on.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I know it wasn't accidental but I'm not the only one who felt it got significantly cooler. My guess is its just a manufacturing issue since there was the same issue on my wife's ns.

I have been using voodoo with the Matrix kernel so far and loving it, the color contrast is almost unreal, however...does anyone know of any work arounds for the green flash that happens when unlocking? Not a super huge deal, just kind of annoying.
If you are referring to the green screen when the phone screen is about to turn off in MIUI, settings, display, advanced mode under brightness, light levels, use custom, light level to dim( try different amounts) 26 worked for me.

Bad Things
-Color Scheme
-Launcher
-Error in Callender sync (only in some devices)(thanks to smashbox)(can be fixed by doing a full wipe/restore)
To Make it Good
-Use Nova Launcher (in 8x10 grid) (thanks to aletheus)
Seems somewhat more responsive than Honeycomb though (not with Touchwiz). But still testing.
The looks is according to one's taste, I suppose--I liked the (pure) ICS look on my Galaxy Nexus so have little complaints here on the 7.7, especially after I switch from Touchwiz to Nova Launcher (same on my Nexus).
Added screencap of my homescreen. (Nova Launcher, Suave HD icons, Simiclock Widget.)
I don't know what condition your tablet is, but mine is noticeably snappier.
Just like EVERY SINGLE DEVICE I HAVE UPDATED TO ICS from GB or HC base
- Nexus S
- Motorola Atrix
- Sony Tablet S

Yeah, it hit the forums yesterday morning. What a great un-birthday present from samsung!!!

I am surprised to be loving touchwiz! Its certainly not lagging, the entire device is much faster. I draw using sketchbook pro and photoshop touch, so the "force gpu rendering" under settings>development seems to have even sped up drawing capabilities. Lag is barely noticeable, whereas before it was inhibitive.
As far as colors, OP, you mean color sceme for ICS?
I'm disappointed to see color banding in gradients still, thouh it does seem a little better now...

The Austrian ICS update does have TouchWiz. It's the new look of TouchWiz 5, as also seen on the Samsung Galaxy S III. There are many new features to explore under Apps and Widgets.
I've put on forced GPU rendering. Touchwiz still seems slightly (but still noticeably) laggy, albeit less than HC

Just installed Hashcodes rom and it is ultra smooth. Before that I was running MoDaCo's rom and that was great also. I actually prefer the new phone-ish UI to the proper-tablet version. I don't use the default launcher though, I use Apex—but keep it portrait-only like the default launcher. I like my screens in a certain way, widgets and all, and it's just a pain in the ass to try to make them work in both modes. Anyways, these are my screens, from leftmost to right. Number 03 is the main homescreen.
Here is mine. It's the same as it was on 4.0

Like the stock rom if the app is in the amazon app store they show up in high res. The only exceptions are kindle fire only editions which don't show up as available from the appstore and I guess they aren't pulled properly from the server. FYI, I used Titanium backup to restore my apps, and even then the high res icon from kindle fire editions do not show up.
Only wish the prime videos could be played on roms other than the stock..

If I use anything but "none" on homescreen transitions...
regardless of moving wallpaper or not
regardless of wallpaper
It's extremely jittery on the screen transitions. Well, I say "anything" - I haven't tested every transition animation. I've always used Card Stack, and it's pretty bad. Just wondering if I've got something else going on. Other areas seem smooth, but this is the first phone I've had this "problem" with.
I'm using Nova and having the same issues with transitions. Haven't tried Apex. I would suspect that we'll see updates to fix these issues shortly.

Remember you're on a fully bloatified BLUR ROM. Until we get an optimized/bloatless ROM, system level apps like the launcher are going to suffer a little bit of performance hit. But I have noticed a little bit of a jitter. Cycling home pages seems to help, but it is still there. And honestly, it seems pretty hard to notice unless you're looking for it...
Or maybe you're just used to Project Butter

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ICS has better memory management compared to GB, and since we have 1024 of RAM, supercharging probably won't have much of an effect. On my X2 with 512 yeah, it helped in GB, but it didn't play well with ICS.
It just seems to be a non issue on that front.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Yeah V6 shouldn't be necessary
It definitely seems isolated to the "card stack" animation, and one of the others that I can't remember off the top of my head (phone is out of reach at the moment). But it seems that those animations are consistently "jittery" on Nova, Apex, and Holo - though maybe they're all using the same code / memory management?

Interesting - that is one area that the phone definitely feels slow, after waking from a prolonged (i.e. more than a few minutes!) sleep. Will give that a shot - thanks.
Interesting, I tried using ROM Toolbox's cpu tuners, but they would not stay set. Ie phone wouldn't recover from screen off setting, nor would governor changes stick. Have you checked to see if similar issues exist with setcpu?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda premium
i think you can't change governors with stock kernel, you need a custom kernel for that also for overclocking
Not exactly true. As long as bootloaders are locked we won't have any custom kernels. While over clocking is definitely not necessary on this device, under clocking would be nice. Logcat actually shows "CpuGovernorService" making changes after settings have been changed with ROM Toolbox.
