Has anybody else noticed this? (Maxx HD here)
If I use anything but "none" on homescreen transitions...
regardless of moving wallpaper or not
regardless of wallpaper
It's extremely jittery on the screen transitions. Well, I say "anything" - I haven't tested every transition animation. I've always used Card Stack, and it's pretty bad. Just wondering if I've got something else going on. Other areas seem smooth, but this is the first phone I've had this "problem" with.
I'm using Nova and having the same issues with transitions. Haven't tried Apex. I would suspect that we'll see updates to fix these issues shortly.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda premium
Thanks, I thought the same but wanted to see if others were seeing it.
Edit: and what's weird is other things remain perfectly smooth, seems to only affect home screen transitions.

Remember you're on a fully bloatified BLUR ROM. Until we get an optimized/bloatless ROM, system level apps like the launcher are going to suffer a little bit of performance hit. But I have noticed a little bit of a jitter. Cycling home pages seems to help, but it is still there. And honestly, it seems pretty hard to notice unless you're looking for it...
Or maybe you're just used to Project Butter
if you have root, you can remove the bloatware apps and you can also install v6 supercharger, maybe this will fix it

No problems on the M with the same bloated blur, and V6 shouldn't be necessary on a device like this, in any scenario I wouldn't think?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ICS has better memory management compared to GB, and since we have 1024 of RAM, supercharging probably won't have much of an effect. On my X2 with 512 yeah, it helped in GB, but it didn't play well with ICS.
It just seems to be a non issue on that front.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Yeah V6 shouldn't be necessary
It definitely seems isolated to the "card stack" animation, and one of the others that I can't remember off the top of my head (phone is out of reach at the moment). But it seems that those animations are consistently "jittery" on Nova, Apex, and Holo - though maybe they're all using the same code / memory management?
if your phone is rooted and/or you're open to rooting it than...
I installed setcpu and changed the governor from ondemand to interactive.
it made a big difference when waking up from a black screen.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Interesting - that is one area that the phone definitely feels slow, after waking from a prolonged (i.e. more than a few minutes!) sleep. Will give that a shot - thanks.
Interesting, I tried using ROM Toolbox's cpu tuners, but they would not stay set. Ie phone wouldn't recover from screen off setting, nor would governor changes stick. Have you checked to see if similar issues exist with setcpu?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda premium
i think you can't change governors with stock kernel, you need a custom kernel for that also for overclocking
Not exactly true. As long as bootloaders are locked we won't have any custom kernels. While over clocking is definitely not necessary on this device, under clocking would be nice. Logcat actually shows "CpuGovernorService" making changes after settings have been changed with ROM Toolbox.

Is anyone else having the issue of the FR007 being slow and laggy? When I scroll through all my apps, there is a huge lag. And the sliding of the home screens have some lag in it too. Is it just my aria or something that I did wrong while rooting/flashing? If there's a way to fix this, please tell. I really like FR007, but am thinking about switching back to R012. Thanks in advance.

Did you do a full wipe before flashing the new rom
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Yeah. I did a nandroid backup and then wipe data. And then flashed.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
No lags here. May some service or app working in background?
their is some noticeable lag, the stock rom from att is deff faster but isn't nearly as clean ;(
OP, I had the same problem, ended up going back to R012. I was sad.
I was using CM6.1 rc2 until my apps started closing (dolphin browser hd, Rom gripper, etc.) Then I switched to liberated fr007 and haven't had one issue. The only thing that ever gave me a lag was overclocking widget, live wallpaper, and using an alternative home screen (ADW. Launcher, Home++)
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Yeah it lags for me. Especially if I use Pandora radio
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Try this.
Go to market and get Overclocking Widget.
Put the widget anywhere on your homescreen.
Tap it, grant it SU permissions, you will probably have to tap it again for it to display.
Now on the 2nd slider that says Maximum set it all the way to the right.
Uninstall the widget, whichever method you prefer and the lag problem will probably go away.
* uninstalling the widget makes it where it won't automatically slow your phone down when it hasn't been in use for a while, which means you have to mess with the slider every time you unlock your phone.
** this may also have a negative impact on your battery, but if your like me and charge your phone every night it shouldn't be a problem.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
You shouldn't be using an overclocking widget or setcpu with the stock fr rom- it will result in more lag and unpleasantness than you started with. The stock kernel simply doesn't support over or underclocking.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
It doesn't support OVER clocking or UNDER clocking, but setting the processor works just fine--there is no issues, that's what saved my battery life actually & the phone runs great.
There is no need to set the processor with a third party app if you are using the stock kernel. Hell, even cm6.1 defaults to 600 making setCPU optional. I saw on the other thread that you think developers too often blame apps for malfunctions but I think you will find that devs and contributors are just as sick of newbies spreading misinformation and not listening to sound advice and attributing their own folly to wrongly defamed software. If I were anyone reading this thread I would encourage you to be wiser than I and let this, and other new troll threads die before they begin.

until we get a decent kernal that supports OC, you're just messing things.
I just end up running slower and stuttering in many apps.
I know I'm not the only one with the problem of the laggy app drawer. When you first open it, it's perfectly smooth. Then, if you leave it alone for a second and use it again, it's extremely slow. It happens on any Acer-based rom, including unrooted stock.
Well, here's an interesting fact: This only happens with a static wallpaper. The issue goes away with a live wallpaper.
Why is this happening? Is it a problem with the launcher or the rom?

Wow, that is interesting.
I have noticed that some people experience this issue, and some of them don't. My app drawer does get slow and laggy, but its more just a bit choppy than anything else. It doesn't really bother me so I never worried about it too much.
To be honest, I hadn't noticed that either. However, based on your description, it sounds like the live wallpaper prevents the cpu governor from underclocking (by virtue of the fact that it's more cpu-intensive, thus requiring the cpu to operate at a higher clock), thus preventing initial lag. Just hazarding a guess, though.
finally a thread about this. Here's what I know. I don't think its the CPU scaling because I've tried to fix this. It still happens even when I force it to 1.4 ghz+ the only rom without this problem is virtuous xoom. And it doenst seem to be the launcher. I've tried swapping them around
stock rooted 3.2 and cant make it happan, using reg walpapper. Did not see on previous versions.
I have seen this on other 3.2 tablets... I assume its a gpu thing or just a bug in 3.2

looks like it is hc 3.2 issue - i wasn't experiencing this on hc 3.1 roms
i was trying as well find out the reason...
only thing what i found out - when the lag is there - killing any of running apss will kill the lag for some seconds as well and the app drawer become smooth again.
tested with quick system info pro.
Its the otherway round for me.......the app drawer lags a lot when i use live wallpaper and lags a little less when i use a static wallpaper....i think it depends on the kind of (live or static) wallpaper used on the device.....

It just always lags for me, but as I said earlier, it isn't enough to piss me off or anything. It's only a slight lag.

Many thanks mate.
Made a noticeable bump in speed for me. Excellent!
Thanks for the app, sometimes I just felt it's a shame that you have to download a third party app to boost up the phone or do anything normally which the every smartphones must have when it born. This is why everyone is rooting as stock rom sucks?
Thanks for the find robdee102.
Are there any other settings we can change to increase the speed of the phone?
The device doesnt get any faster, its deception. The length of the animated transition equals about the time needed for the application to load. Turning off the animation or setting it to happen faster only results in the animation being finished before the app's interface is fully loaded and the user looking at a blank black or white screen for a split second... Because the zoom or swipe effect happens faster one gets the feeling the device actually being faster; which in reality it isn't.
Thanks for listening. My 2¢.

Yeah, there's DEFINATELY a difference, it feels more responsive, going through menus, etc...
I'm not denying it feels quicker. On the contrary. But because everyone around you suddenly walks slow doesnt make you walk any quicker ;-)
It was very noticeable on older devices with only 500ish MHz and 192MB of RAM, like the original G1/Dream/Sapphire and the likes. Those guys needed the extra time to launch an app and load the UI. Now with 1Gig, dedicated GPU and dualcore CPUs we are talking milliseconds. It really doesnt matter anymore...
A shame not all functions of Spareparts are supported though...

Then i install Nova launcher, turn transition to the fastest. Wow, now my phone has over 300 mb free ram after boot up and is fast. And I mean real fast. For those who need speed. Go with Nova, and you retain most of the touchwiz features, like smart stay.

My suggestion is to upgrade to MDL (if you haven't already) and flash a custom TW kernel. This makes a world of difference over stock for smoothness and battery life is still great (depending on the kernel settings used). Other thing you can try is lowering the animation scale in developer options.

Very much agreed. i personally have minimal lag....there obviously should be none. Hopefully when the next update finally drops the lag will be taken care of.
I had the same issue but once I rooted, removed bloat, disabled some apps and installed a custom kernel all the lag is gone. I'm running No Frills CPU to control the CPU and I have it set at Max 1998GHz, Min 378MHz, Governor= Performance, I/O scheduler= deadline. Not having any issues with battery either. Works Great!
Also I noticed that S Voice was never mentioned. You have to uninstall it or make it so the home button doesn't activate it.
I'm running ktoonz 7/2 kernel with all his settings. Wow it gets rid of all the lag. Plus the phone don't run so hot like it does stock. Nice and cool and fast. I get 24-30+ hours before battery swap. I was also very pissed that out of the box this phone is kind of ****ty. Thanks to our great devs its fixed
