OK. This is weird as I can't find any sort of precedent but randomly while I'm doing stuff my nexus 7 will ask to complete an action with yahoo mail, gmail, or IMO messenger. On a whim I clicked gmail and it said it wanted to send a bug report with a text file and a screenshot of what I was doing to my own email address.
What is this and how can I clear it from automatically opening gmail at random when I'm in the middle of a game or a movie?
Running stock 4.2.1 rooted.
What kernel are you on?

Are you using nova launcher or something? Most launchers have an option to send bug reports

I'm getting the same thing, but it wants to sent it to my alternate email ([email protected]). Mine is being activated by the volume rocket somehow.

Having same issue. Wanted to send it to my gfs Facebook email from my email. Nexus 7 WiFi running rooted jdq39 rooted with Wugs toolkit. It also gave me the option to open WiFi direct instead of gmail. Side note Google chrome has a prompt to allow automatically sending usage statistics and crash reports in my browser. I will allow after posting.

Forgive me if this topic has been raised before -- I searched and didn't see anything.
I am seeing two issues with my Epic relating to e-mail I haven't seen raised.
1. Generic e-mail client doesn't sync reliably. It ran reliably for a day or two, but has stopped polling, and now the only way I can get the accounts in it to update is to go into the client and open them.
2. I cannot seem to get more than 2 gmail accounts added to the gmail client. I have three google accounts, and I had to set up my third one in the generic client after repeated attempts to add it to the gmail client resulted in server connection fails.
Anyone else seeing this? Is it possible I have a defective phone or something I did during the course of rooting (noobnl's one-click v 2.2.9) broke some functionality? Is it possible that the service responsible for the client's polling activity got broken?
Thanks in advance.
My email has been updating automatically fine. I've only had my Epic for a little over two weeks, though. I don't have multiple Gmail accounts so can't say. Also, I'm not rooted yet ( I've been waiting for the 2.2 upgrade). I'm not crazy about everything in the generic client but it does seem to work very well.
I thought I was having the same issue as OP, but I found that I guess I accidentally switched automatic updates off in the settings.
I have had my Epic since it launched and yes this has been an issue for me. I thought maybe I had something set wrong but I don't. I actually check my Yahoo acct through the browser now. It doesn't really bother me to much though so I deal with it. Facebook for Android is the same way usually too.

This is a common issue if you search around.
I've given up on the stock email app and just use K9 mail. Works perfectly. Has a few more options than the stock app too, although like a lot of open-source apps, maybe too many. I still haven't gotten all the fonts to look the way I want. But it's functional and doesn't give me any problems with syncing. An email app that won't tell me when I have new email is useless to me, and the stock app would only do that for maybe a day unless I rebooted. K9 always notifies me of email immediately.
I'm having a problem of my own. I just tried to send an attachment in the stock email app but I get a FC when I hit attach. In the gmail app however it works, gives me the option of gallery or astro. Could the FC in the email app occuring because I uninstalled the myfiles app and it defaults to it?

Exactly the same problem. Stock email client works for a while then just quits.
But anyway, thanks for the tip re K-9 mail. Just installed it and will give it a try. It is indeed considerably more complimicated and will probably take some fiddling to get everything the way I want it, but that's OK -- I guess if I wanted simple but uncofigurable functionality I'd have a feature phone or an iPhone.
Seems like the FB app does the same thing. Anyone have a suggestion for a good 3d-party FB client?
Oh, and does anyone else have more than 2 accounts in gmail?
reboot will fix it for a short period
same problem here... worked for two weeks and now only syncs if manually. Rebooting the phone gets it going again... for a few more days and then it will no longer sync again!
Hey all I posted this topic a little while back but can't find a fix.
Since updating my nexus s on fido to 2.3.6 (unrooted) my gmail Outbox is a mess. It sends the emails fine - but the number beside the Outbox just keeps getting larger. Never resets back to zero. Even after a successful send. I've tried resetting the app data and even the device a couple times. I'm running the email on synchronize mode and i have multiple Gmail accounts on my device.
Has anyone experienced this issue and is there a way to fix it? I can't seem to delete the Gmail application to try to reinstall it and there doesn't seem to be an update available....
Cheers

Open gmail on a computer and delete the emails that are older and not showing up

Also, 2.3.6 is very buggy. Could be one of the bugs as well.

Must be a bug in 2.3.6......when I open up my Gmail on the computer all's fine...

I received my Nexus 7 32GB 3G model on Friday and I have discovered something I cannot figure out.
I have an email account using Exchange ActiveSync (my company runs Exchange 2010). When I see a meeting invite in my inbox there is no button to accept or decline. When I view the meeting in my calendar I can mark it as ATTENDING Yes Maybe No.
Selecting Yes doesn't send a confirmation or remove the invitation from my inbox. There should be a way to accept or decline a meeting invite. I have that option on my HTX One X.
I'm running a stock 4.2 ROM JOP40C build. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device using the Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit v1.55.
There is an option, (i've just tested to confirm my memory) although you might have to change tabs to see it. Under the to/from bar there should be 3 tabs: message, invite, attachment. Pick invite and select your answer. Fixed?

I just sent a test meeting invite from my home email to my work email. When I see the meeting invite in my work email I do see two tabs (message and invite). There was no attachment, so that is probably why I didn't see that tab. I missed that the first time I saw a meeting invite.
I was able to select invite and accept the meeting. I was not given the option if I wanted to send a response or if I wanted to add comments. The HTC mail app on my One X gives me those additional options.
So accepting the message worked OK. Then I went back to my home email and cancelled the meeting. When I received the cancellation message in my work email, there were no tabs to allow me to remove it from my calendar. I had to go to my calendar and delete the meeting and then go back to my inbox and delete the cancellation message.
I think Google needs to put a lot more work into their stock mail app. I can see why some of the OEMs replace it in their builds.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement mail app that works well with the Nexus 7 screen resolution?
Have you tried K9 mail or Kaiten mail?
Very good mail apps from what I've heard.

I just looked at both those apps in the Play store and they both say they support Exchange 2003/2007 using WebDAV. My company is running Exchange 2010 and I need to use ActiveSync, not WebDAV. Exchange 2013 has been out for a while now and these apps only support up to Exchange 2007.
I am using rooted nexus 7 with original ROM. I have set up two users on it. On one of the user account, when in use, it constantly gets "Unfortunately, the clock has stopped working" dialogue box, with "Okay" and "Send Report" buttons. It comes up at about every 5 minutes. Weird though, it doesn't pop up when logged in under other user account. There are very few apps installed other than what came with the device (like facebook, hotmail, and couple of games). Any idea as to what could be the reason?
Another issue I have is that once in a while, the nexus 7 will just reboot itself. last time i noticed when i was using chrome browser, but it happened in the past while on lockscreen, and using gmail app as well.
Thanks.
Earlier today when checking my emails I noticed an ad in the top of the list, I have never seen anytihng like this in my Gmail client and I find it rather unsettling.
Is there a risk that my phone has gotten infected by something? A bunch of random apk's have been downloaded without my permission when i was surfing a while ago, but I dont know if anything was installed.
Google has started to place ads in email clients, that's why you are seeing it.
