Hey guys,
I've synched the Vibrant with my facebook account and I have a problem.
The Dial pad has options such as call log, favorites, contacts. When I click on contacts my contacts show up, but so do the options of Groups History and activities.
Under History all my messages regardless of what like email, sms, or facebook, show up.
I really don't want my facebook messages to show up cause it's annoying. I get at least 10 new messages a day. Is there anyway to make history not include facebook messages?
I think if I don't sync my phone with facebook that's what would happen.
Any idea?
ok so this might be a NOOB question but i though with 2.2.+ that facebook would do push notifications? i had a blackberry before and LOVED that when i got a e-mail or a notification on Facebook my phone had notified me sometimes before my browser got it. so is their a way to get instant notification for Facebook and my AOL e-mail with out having to have it check at intervals ?
samsung epic froyo 2.2 updated via samsung updater.exe
They worked in DK28 but not in EB13.. It's pretty freakin gay...
Yeah it's lame. My "workaround" was to add gmail to my facebook account and let it push notifications to my phone, which provides direct links to the touch website.
It's not as elegant as an app notification, but it works pretty well and I don't have to have the slower fb app installed.
I use a facebook app called "Flow" and it sends me push notifications for anything I want - notifications, event invites, friend requests, new messages, etc. It's on the market as "Flow for Facebook" and its FREE. Hope this helps!

Did you figure out how to eliminate the dual notifications? I don't just mean the sound either.
The facebook app that came with 2.2 didn't do anything as far as sync and notifications once I logged in. I had to open up facebook in the browser, where it prompted me to enter my login again. Once there is let me sync my contacts and then setup notifications for anything i wanted (I don't use them though).
I do have two facebook accounts under accounts and sync in the settings though.
+1 Its an awesome.app

Yesterday, I noticed that you can now add facebook SNS (Social networking sync) under accounts. Now, if you have contacts from gmail linked with facebook, it will list their activities/media under each tab.
I was messing around with FB yesterday to try and figure out if I could get push notifications and removed my account. Went to add it back and noticed that it was there. Don't think it was there in EB13 but then again, I never looked.
Just thought that was interesting. Still no push notification after removing and adding my facebook acct back.

Its always been there.
Hi guys. I currently use the gmail app for my gmail account and the typical email app for my outlook account. I have noticed that Gmail will eventually remove a notification from my task bar if I read the email somewhere on my computer. The email app, however, will just keep racking the new mail count up. I use outlook push notification, so I will get notifications for new mail while I am at work. I typically check them on my computer, since I am there. When I go to my phone after several of these, I will have a notification on my phone saying that I have X new emails. When I open the notification, they will all be read.
Has anybody else experienced this issue? Is this just a limitation of using outlook push notification?
OK, had the S4A for about a week. Lots to like coming from my S2, but a few niggling things that irk me.The main one is the e-mail app notifications. I had the combined Inbox on my S2, but all it ever showed me on the widget was when there were new e-mails. For some reason, the S4A also combines the new text messages count into the e-mail widget icon making it look as if there are new e-mails. Even if I read the text messages they still pop up in the widget count until I also delete them through the e-mail app. This is annoying as hell, obviously. Is there any way to turn this behavior off? I only want to see a message count on the e-mail widget for actual e-mails. What's the point of having messages show up in the e-mail app? I can't do anything but read and delete them (doesn't delete the actual message, just its appearance in the e-mail app). I still have to go to the messaging app to reply, forward, etc.
The other problem is the e-mail app itself. I have Push turned off and one of my accounts set to manual retrieval. Still, it downloads e-mail without me doing anything. I have to turn off sync completely to stop it, which is a pain as I have to remember to turn it on to retrieve e-mails and then it gets everything going back 24 hours (minimum setting) whether it is new or not. This using an Outlook account. If e-mail retrieval is set to manual why would the phone retrieve e-mails as if set to push? It should do nothing regardless of whether sync is on or not. That's how it worked on my S2.
TIA
Nothing? Could someone just verify that this is the way their S4A works, as well? It just makes no sense to me why it does this.
Hello,
Since I've purchased my Samsung Galaxy S8, I've found it often does not sync until I open the app. Examples of apps effected are gmail, facebook messenger, google hangouts. Instead of notifying me of a new message or email, the phone does nothing. Until I open the gmail app, then it pops up 10 new emails or whatever that came in earlier in the day since the last time. Or until I open the Facebook messenger app, see it spin, say connected, and then however many messages I've missed since the last time I opened the app pop up. Same with google hangouts.
The phone runs fast, smooth - I'm not sure why it is doing this. My sync settings are set to automatic and it has had all updates.
