Hey Guys
I am sharing the latest CWM recovery images; CWM 6.0.2.5
To be straight, I used Koush's Recovery Builder to build these
latest recovery images in both, touch & non-touch variants.
And so I do not take any credit, all of it to Koush. Also, I didn't
publish a thread for this in development section since I didn't
perform any development on this.

How to build on your own?
Visit the Recovery Builder
Click on the "Existing Devices" tab.
Now under the Existing Devices dropdown, select "i9300".
Tick "Touch Recovery" option if you desire for the touch variant, otherwise do not touch it.
Now click on the blue colored "Build" tab.
The page will then prompt you with a reference build ID, take note of it.
Now continue to build server.
Look for the corresponding build ID.
Once its done, click on it.
You can now download your "recovery.img" build.
How to flash?
flash TAR files with Odin or mobile Odin
flash ZIP files in recovery
and dont forget to hit thanks if you like this
tried flashing this recovery but it doesn't flash either through odin or mobile odin.
Open .tar file using 7zip and get recovery.img. Then flash it using Mobile Odin. Works fine for me

Yes that to forgot odin can now flash img files now lol my mistake
im what Willis was talking about
what the difference with the 6.0.1.2 touch version ?
Is there any reason why to select the 'crespo' build from the existing devices drop down box??
What's the difference between picking the crespo rather than the i9300 choice???

............. Well um BIGGEST difference would be that i9300 is the intl s3 and crespo from what i remember is the nexus s so if you pick crespo you would build the latest recovery for the nexus s

and also the multiple no when wiping cache or dalvik is gone
it now only appears when doing a factory reset for good reasons

of course you have to select i9300 for SIII recovery !
crespo recovery is for other phone, don´t try to flash that !!
i guess 1.post is copied from other (crespo) thread, please fix nr.3 (Now under the Existing Devices dropdown, select "crespo".)

Not the very best solution to install a recovery manager like Odin Mobile if i'am without a system ... have someone a recovery in this version that i can flash through
Odin v3 with windooze?
Many thanks
I'd need a cwm flashable zip of it.

im just letting the S3 users know that i have now got an s3 and will begin developing for s3 now!
starting with my first creation for the s3, i have made a flashable .zip file that flashes the selected recovery, so no need for re-downloading and re-flashing, simply flash the .zip, then aroma will open asking whitch recovery to flash then it will flash then reboot into the new recovery!
coming soon!

The point of this being that some recoveries cant flash certain .zip files... eg twrp 2.5.0.0 cannot flash .zip files with aroma, this is also a pachage to help developers!

An app that could connect to a central repository and download the latest versions would be great. Then using the same method stweaks by siyah uses to "hijack" recovery or temp boot would make more sense to me.
That way you open app, choose recovery to boot and flash your zips. Then boot back to android...
Rather than boot recovery, flash zip,,choose recovery, flash zip...
Or just use philz recovery and be able to flash all zips anyway

I flashed it the same way you flash any image:
Fastboot flash recovery <recovery>.img
If your zips are made from the images then i doubt they will work. Plus, I dont have a recovery to flash them in.
Anyway the Photon Q recovery worked for one reboot then it was somehow overridden by the stock recovery. In other words: I flashed the Photon Q recovery via Rom Manager > rebooted into recovery via Rom Manager > from recovery, booted normally > rebooted into recovery and found it had reverted to the stock one.
The N7 originally had this issue. Ill look into how they fixed it. Found it...
You simply navigate to /system and delete or rename the file named: recovery-from-boot.p. Once you do that, reboot to download mode (fastboot) and flash the recovery like normal. Then reboot into recovery.
Upon exiting the recovery (OUDhs) it noticed that the system would potentially overwrite the recovery so it asked it i would like to disable it. I selected 'yes' as I obviously want to retain the custom recovery.

When on stock always choose yes on reboot. To let cwmr make "install-recovery.sh" into ....bak.
Yet once on a custom rom- choose any no.

During setup what recovery did you choose?
Was it Photon Q?
Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I wouldn't trust ROM Manager to properly flash a recovery on my phone after picking a different device.
Doing it with fastboot takes about 5 secs anyway.
I don't even remember I'm pretty certain it automatically said my device wasn't supported. I wouldn't have chosen a different model.

Anyone know where the github of CWM is?
Touch screen is not working in TWRP and CWM on my phone. I'm running stock ROM (screens.attached), and flashed TWRP as per this thread, when touch screen didn't work, I went ahead and downloaded a TWRP app from Google Play and tried flasing with it (I'm rooted, yes) - same result, no touch screen. Later, I flashed TWRP .img with Odin, by converting it with this tool. Gave up and flashed CWM Touch, but the same problem persisted. What is going on, you think? I'm prefer TWRP, but using CWM now, since at least I can manipulate it using volume buttons.

Appreciate any input.

Here is the file to flash through Odin that will return everything back to stock factory settings (if you're in Canada don't use that file I think I have a better one for you). Be warned in flashing back to stock, you WILL lose all of your personal data saved on the tablet and there's no way to reverse that if you haven't backed things up.
It sounds like you're attempting to use an outdated version of TWRP. The most current build can be found in the first post of this thread. Download from the line that's right at the top:

Odin flashable factory image
Custom recovery flashable stock rom
For future reference, the "falcon" in the incorrect recovery file refers to the development name of the device that that recovery is actually intended for, one of the Motorola Falcon line of phones. Almost all devices have development codenames that have no resemblance or relevance to their actual retail name. All variants of the 10.1" Tab 4 are referred to as "Matisse" for development purposes. My first experience with this was with my first android phone, the Pantech Burst. Its development name was "Presto" and therefore all roms files, recoveries, etc. bore that Presto as part of its name. Most recovery/rom files for this tablet will either have the word matisse in the file name or will make some reference to that.
Repey, yes he should be aware of that before indiscriminately flashing files, but in his defense nothing that comes with the tablet references the codename Matisse. When I first came to this forum I had to google Matisse before I was 100% sure what you and Moonbutt74 were referencing (although I had a hunch because of my past experience)

Put phone into bootloader mode. Hold shift and right click to "Open command window here" where you have ADB and your TWRP file (assuming Windows PC). Type "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-1-shamu.img". Easier, quicker, and potentially safer IMO.

What's new:

Installed version 3.1.0-0. With all the changes themes need to be reworked. Also, there are rumblings in the XDA article discussion thread that Aroma does not work on this recovery. I'll have to check that.
EDIT: Aroma working perfectly here, as far as I can tell.
I am just curious. Can backups made on older version of TWRP be restored by this new version? Thanks.

Usually, yes. I would backup up personal data onto PC before trying.
