horrid video sound. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can it get any worse?
Listened to some video recordings I did today and the sound via headphones, PC or HiFi it horrid.
Naturally I went to YouTube to watch other nexus 4 samples and they were the same..
Cricket noise
Garbled background noise
Is this acceptable ?or is is another case of a handful of phones.

well samsung hasnt figured out yet how to fix audio recording

just like with my i8910 the audio recorded in a video in a loud setting.. ie my sons concert last night is for ****... distorted etc.
as a comparison nokia knows how to record audio both my kids 5800 and my n97 (piece of crap for other reasons) that i have sold recorded the audio in concerts fine.. without the same levels of distortion...
Stupid question, but isn't there any audio settings/options in the recorder you can ticker around with to try and fix it?

video recording inaudible

Hi,
I've heard that the recording sound is horrible, but can it be this bad? I've had my TF for over a month now, few days ago I tried recording a video clip using the built-in camera, and the playing sound was barely audible! Even if I shouted into the mic. I could only manage to hear a very faint voice. Other than that the sound from games/movies/music is fine though. Did I get a bad unit?

Headphone noise

Does anyone hear background noise when using headphones/ear buds? I'm using klipsch S4 ear buds and can hear electronic background noise especially when viewing a web video (where it's constant). If I watch a movie with moboplayer, there is far less noise to the point you probably don't notice it unless you really listen for it. So that part is good, but you tube videos seem to be the worst and the noise is definitely a hardware feedback type that you typically hear when something isn't shielded well.
Thoughts?

YouTube compresses audio pretty aggressively, especially below 720p, so that could be a large part of it. Try downloading a FLAC or other uncompressed audio file and playing it back and see if there is still background noise.
I tend to hear background noise if the wifi is currently transferring data, so it happens with Youtube (it's compression artifacts - you can hear it while paused) or DLNA streaming. Once the Wifi transfer stops, the background noise disappears. So, it does sound like bad filtering to me as well.

Wifi related noise sounds plausible to me. Thanks!

I hear noise with my wired headphones often. Funny thing is that when I reboot, the noise disappears, even when doing/using the same apps I was using before the reboot.
I've heard a similar noise ever since the time I bought my Xoom. It only occurs when I'm using a wired headset (I tried a couple and it still persists), but it stopped with the 3.2 update.
The weirdest think was that it actually made my music sound better.
I use JVC marshmallow headphones & I never hear any other sounds but crystal clear music or whatever.

Audio extremely muffled in video recordings. Calling and voice recording works fine.

I got Nexus 6P yesterday and I noticed an issue. After playing back recorded videos, they all sound very muffled and the only things that can be heard is static and some loud elements in the video, such as hand clapping and so on. But overall it can be said that the videos have no sound at all.
Calling works fine, both others can hear me and I can hear them. And voice recording apps from Play store also record audio perfectly. It only muffles the sound if video is being recorded. I tried other camera apps from play store and they all do not work.
What should I do, is there a fix?
Root is out of the question as I might give the phone away from where I bought it.

How do you record loud audio without clipping?

I like to record video and audio at live concerts. Whenever I record video with the 6p, the audio comes out pretty decent w/ no clipping.
However, when I use an audio recorder, such as the Sony Audio Recorder and Field recorder, i get tons of clipping. I've tried turning down gain and enable clip protection, but the recording quality always sounds overloaded whenever the bass hits. The audio meters in it doesn't show that it reaches the 'red' but the resulting audio is still distorted.
How can i record audio w/ the 6p and get it sounding as good as the audio in the videos i record?
