Hi All,
This guide is intended to help those of you suffering from data connection issues while using GPS. For example, when GPS is enabled and Google Maps is launched the network connection disconnects from 3G/HSPA and the network connection icon turns grey. Anyways, give this a shot and see if it helps. I have tested it out on my Nexus One using AT&T and it has fixed the issue for me. Also, you don't need to worry about screwing up your phone following this process as you can simply reset the APNs to default without issue :good:
Navigate to APN Settings
Navigate to System Settings > More (under Wireless & Networks) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. You should see something similar to this screenshot. If you have previously altered your APNs you should select the "Reset to default" option (this can take a while to complete so be patient!)

Remove unneeded APNs
You only need one APN listed. Since the N1 doesn't have LTE and I don't have StraightTalk I can remove these APNs. Simply click on each of the APNs to be remove and select the "Delete APN" option
Click to collapse
Configure your APN
Select the remaining APN and scroll down to "APN type". You need to change this value from whatever it is currently (in my case it reads "default, supl, mms") to "default, mms" (without quotes!). Select the "Save" option, back out of the settings menu and power off yor phone. DO NOT RESTART, YOU MUST POWER OFF your phone or this might not work! Don't worry if your connection icon turns grey (as shown in the screenshot) as this will be blue after you power on.
Click to collapse
Test it out
Navigate to System Settings > Location Access. If prompted about "Location consent" click "Agree". Wait a few seconds and then launch Google Maps. Confirm that the data connection is not lost by watching the network connection icon. If the icon remains blue with the letter "H" or "E" next to it then you're good! If it didn't work or made things worse you can simply select the "Reset to default" option from the APN Settings (again, this can take a while to complete so be patient!)

Hopefully this helps! If it does, please consider clicking the "Thanks" button. Also, be sure to support your developers! Even a small donation or a simple thanks can make a huge difference :highfive:
[UPDATE1]
*child has pointed out that he was likely the originator of the suggestion of setting the APN type to "default" so please be sure to thank him!

[UPDATE2]
darkshino has pointed out this may break mms. I have update the guide to set the APN type ase "default, mms" as this seems to fix mms and doesn't break GPS/Maps. Also found that powering off rather that rebooting is better (rebooting didn't work when I tried).

I believe I was the first to post this fix way back in October.

It is very likely you were the origin of this; in which case I thank you! I will update the OP to give credit where it is due. I hope you understand I'm not trying to take credit for your contribution, I'm just trying to help out others. Also, I was unable to get GPS working by setting the APN to "default" alone. I had to remove the extra APNs to get GPS working (which is not mentioned in your post).
In fairness, I got the idea to remove the extra APNs from a post I came across in the texasice development thread. I can't remember who initially suggested it so if anyone else out there thinks it may have been their suggestion please let me know and I will gladly give credit where credit is due.
No worries. Its a nice guide :highfive:
Updated the guide to include a fix for mms. Thanks to darkshino for bringing this to my attention.

A friend of mine sent me an MMS message with a picture as an attachment. I have RC33, so I go to the message and press the "Download" button to the right of the message. After, this, the button is replaced with the text "downloading", but nothing else happens. In addition, the media does not show up in the SaveMMS application. The message is only 74K, so there isn't any reason why it shouldn't download fairly quickly. Any suggestions?
Works for me....using the scroll ball...scroll to the message press the ball in for 2 seconds and a menu opens. Option to save to sd card is there.
When I press with the scroll button or do a long press, I am given the options "Call +(number here)", "View message details", and "Delete message".
Edit: Thought I would mention this - in the "Messaging" view (where all your text message threads are listed), there is a white/orange triangle with an ! inside it to the right of the thread that contains the message in question. I'm not sure what this means, but I thought that it might be helpful in solving the problem I am having.
open and click th whole message and u should receive option to save attachment.
To clear any confusion, here are images of what is going on:

Dude it really doesn't look like you have a picture in there. I already check this twice and if I got a message I pressed and hold a message(not a pic) and menu poped up with option to save attachement to sd. With press and hold a message w/o pic shows menu like you showedon screenshot
Here is mine...i sent a pic to myself works like it's suppose too.
Your phone knows it's been sent an image but it hasn't downloaded it yet. This has happened a few times on mine. Just click the "download" button and it should show up in the message, then you can save it.

This makes sense, but so far I'm stuck at the "downloading" part. It says that the message size is 74Kb - does it download MMS messages over wifi (which I am connected to) or T-Mobile's signal? I don't have a data plan with my phone, so perhaps the seemingly un-ending download time is due to the speed of T-Mobile's signal? I will try to download it again and see if it works.
This is based solely on a guess, but I have experienced a situation where MMS would not be downloaded if A) I was syncing with PC at the time or B) I was connected to WiFi.
This was NOT on the G1 but on one of my WinMo smart phones.
MMS is downloaded via TMo's mobile internet, but you normally not paying data charges, just messaging charges so it shouldn't be affected by the fact you don't have a data plan. You DO need the TMo APN settings tho I think.
This may not be the problem here, but it's possible if you've tried all other options.

Very good point daisy :")
Or perhaps he was playing with some settings messing them up. Just a thought
I think an mms can only be downloaded via the cellular line (wap, gprs, umts i.e.)
Had similar problems with my old o2 xda orbit....first had to make wap config.

I tried disconnecting from the wifi and it didn't work. However, I have never changed the APN settings for my phone. Are there instructions for doing this somewhere? So far voice + sms messages have worked fine, so I didn't realize that the APN settings might be a problem.
You all are correct about the APN settings. I tried sending myself an MMS as a test and it did not send. I read through the APN thread here without luck, but then found instructions here. After following the instructions, I was able to download the MMS message without any problems.
Glad that you solved it xxx

Nvm... jus saw your other post...
Ok excuse my ignorance cause I'm still working around on figuring out Samsung, Android, and Rooting for this as it's much different than my Nexus One.
Ok this may be stupid but I put in my SIM cards for my Nexus into the Galaxy Tab. The 3G wouldn't work. And it's because the APN is set for broadband. Ok, cool. I figured I would need a special SIM card dedicated to tablets. But I thought I could be slick and set up a new AT&T APN set up and set up the wap.cingular account. But it won't let me set it up because wap.cingular seems to be blocked out???
So anyways here's the weird thing, I was deleting the APN account, but now I notice I have 3g service..... Wow weird. How can I have access to 3g now w/o setting up the wap service? When I switch it back to the broadband APN setting the 3g goes away. I have a dummy APN set up with the name ATT wap
And I never notice that with a SIMS card in the download button in the Market is switch to an AT&T button. Guess it only shows the download button when there's no SIMS card in?
Anyhow I can now get my 3g service now. Sorry if this been explain previously. Tried search couldn't find info on it.
Speed test shows 3036 dl 333 ul so I guess that from previously reading that upload speed are capped ~ 300
Will flash to the Euro was I'm comfortable with the instructions and research on it. I never flashed a Samsung and seems a bit trickier than nexus since I'm so used to Rom Manager and Clockwork Mod.

Yes I'm familiar with this thread as I have been watching it closely for the EURO firmware, but my thing is more about how I can get the 3g to work when I have a dummy APN account set, but it won't work on the ATT Broadband APN account.
I not ready to flash this till I'm fully comfortable with being able to do back ups, restores and flashs.

Ok this is exactly what I did.
I went to Mobile settings and went in to APN
It already had the AT&T Broadband APN set up.
I selected to Add New APN thru the menu button
I named it ATT wap
I couldn't enter wap.cingular under APN. It would let me fill in the rest of the information like User, MMSC, etc, but not wap.cingular. I don't know how but it worked. Maybe it's a glitch within the firmware.
At that point I used the backed button and got the notification "The APN cannot be empty"
I selected exit and the 3G icon was at the top. Here's the pics show the 3G icon

No point. There's no info entered at all. That's the whole point. I never set up anything but for whatever reason when I select ATT wap 3G icon appears.

Could this be reversed? Seems to drain battery unless I leave the GPS on. This is not what I usually have on WLD. It's always 3 or 4%. [emoji15] lol
I have not found a way to reverse it. I'm just happy to get gps back.
I started getting GPS issues after 4.4.4. It would take forever to get a location set by GPS...and keeps getting disrupted during navigation. Just tried this fix and now it has gotten better. Well it seems to get a gps lock in about 6 seconds, can't wait to try out Navigation tomorrow!
update: This method improved it but not as good as before the update.
I tried this twice and my gps still sucks
Is this good? Don't really know what I'm looking for. Lol.
Thanks. Not sure how you figured this out but It works for me.

10 feet accuracy is awesome. Considering how wide roads are, you won't have any issues

That's how they should be I think. My phone was fine too when stock. It's safestrap that made a number of things weird
GPS hasn't worked for me ever since I can remember. I tried the hardware fix to bend the pins upup and still not finding ANY satellites. Any suggestions?
I've only tested this on Att stock. It may not be working because your on a custom rom based on another firmware or they removed those services. I can't really help. I've moved on to the Note 4.
Hello All,
I live in a part of the UK that has little to no signal on my current carrier.
Sometimes, when I disconnect form my home Wifi my phone struggles to find the Mobile Network.
To solve this, I have to do the following:
Pull notification bar down
Tap Settings
Tap Mobile Networks
Tap Network Operators
Tap "Select Automatically"
This is a lengthy process but it seems to force the device to try searching for the carrier again.
I have Nova Launcher and there are a bunch of settings actions I can have as a widget but none of them seem to replicate this exact button in a widget form
If any of you guys have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
Regards
Harry

I might not understood clearly, but; I use Gravity box's Smart radio feature. You define a network mode for normal network mode and power saving network mode(When you connect to wifi or turn the screen off; it goes into power saving network mode's defined type) and switches automatically after those actions above i mentioned. You can also define the delays etc, take a look at these:

Hello everyone, I'm new to posting on this forum (even though I have lurked for quite awhile). I've been having all sorts of trouble finding the proper Boost Mobile APN settings and I have finally figured it out and it works flawlessly on a few roms that I have tried. Hopefully these will help anyone having trouble finding Sprint roms that work on Boost Mobile networks. This will be especially helpful for anyone running a custom rom that doesn't support the "Update PRL" stock setting.
First step is to go into settings and find your Access Point Names section. Finding this section can be different for certain roms but is usually under Connections or Mobile Data. Of course, the easiest way I've found is to simple use the settings search bar for "Access Point Names."
Once you're at the Access Point Names settings, click the "Add" button on the top right corner. Edit your blank APN to make it exactly like this:
After you have copied my APN settings, click the menu button on the top right corner and hit "Save." Make sure you have checked the circle/box next to your newly created APN setting. After a second or two, you should notice that your mobile data is fully functional. So you'll see either 4G or LTE logo (depending how your rom displays it).
"But what if I only see 3G? - If that is the case you need to go back to settings and search for "Network mode" and it'll take you to this menu. Make sure your preferred network mode is listed as "LTE/CDMA." After you change it, it will ask you to reboot the device. Once your device is restarted, you should now have working 4G/LTE! Even if your 4G/LTE is working after saving the new APN settings, I would still recommend changing the preferred network mode to "LTE/CDMA."
Hope this helps someone out there
I have also tried these same settings on my Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P). Although I cannot guarantee, I am sure these settings should work on any phone on the Boost Mobile network. I am currently using [ROM] [ULTIMATE Note 7 Hybrid] [N930PVPU1APGC] [Stock] [v1.0] by tx_dbs_tx on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910P)
Not working for me
I have an SM-N910P that is successfully activated on Boost Mobile. However, only with 3G internet. I tried your method, to no avail. any other suggestions?
