I have installed lite'ning rom, but I need to completely restore i.e. remove root, remove CWM..etc
any pointers where to start?
p.s. I have downloaded the stock rom from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Wipe data/cache from CWM recovery
Flash the rom you downloaded.
wouldn't that keep CWM though?
I'm guessing it won't after resetting phone to factory settings.

In samsung land the recovery joined with the kernel, so flashing a stock rom with a stock kernel will remove CWM.
if it's not clear, you have to wipe data/cache and then flash the rom via Odin or Heimdall.
I would recommend you flashing VillainRom 1.1 if you want to stay on the custom side of life.. or buying a usb-jig if you want to send it in for service or so.

Try mounting all the things such as /system etc. Do this in CWM recovery.
I try but it give me only error... :-(

So I had ICS Stunner installed on my note, but decided I wanted to go back to MIDNOTE 3.3 so I opened CWM and did the normal wipe then went to install the MIDNOTE 3.3 zip package.
However CWM recovery just stopped on 'installing update' (I left it for a good hour its well and truely frozen).
And now if I try and reboot the phone I just get stuck on the first boot screen, so my plan is to using Odin flash back a stock ROM then reroot and then fash MIDNOTE 3.3 again, should this work ok?
Yep. It will work. Flash stock repack first. Everything should go fine after

No!!!
here's what you should do:
download abyss kernel 3.9(not 4.2) and place it in sd . Install the kernel in cwm ~>reboot recovery ~> wipe data factory reset ~>wipe cache and dav cache~> install any custom rom at cwm

THIS IS THE GUIDE THAT I MANAGED TO REVERT BACK FROM OFFICIAL LPY ICS TO GB WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM
WAS ON ROOTED ICS LPY WITH CF LPY KERNEL
referring to latest bug on LPY rom including E4GT forum, so i decided to revert back to GB. this is the steps that i've done and it's working just fine. It's worked for me and i'm not responsible if this steps doesn't work for you...
- dowmload any GB custom rom, copy to your sdcard
- download jBroid Kernel Cleaning, copy to yout sdcard
- download AbyssNote v4.2 kernel, copy to your sdcard
- download CF LPY kernel, EXTRACT zImage and copy to you sdcard.
- Mobile Odin, flash zImage
- reboot to CWM recovery
- flash jBroid Kernel Cleaning
- flash AbyssNote v4.2 kernel
- reboot recovery
- flash new GB custom rom
- flash new kernel (if you prefer other than AbyssNote kernel)
- FULL WIPE
- REBOOT
*****************************************************************************
Refering to the new bootloader for LPF rom, i managed to go back to GB rom. I flashed LPF rom and decided to try to go back to GB rom.
My method,
- reflashed CWM,
- flashed AbyssNote 4.2 kernel
- reboot recovery
- flashed GB custom rom
- full wipe
i don't know if this is the correct way to test new samsung bootloader. and i managed to go back to GB checkrom v6 successfully. Try at you own risk!

PC ODIN is the only safe method to revert back to GB
your method has a chance of bricking the device while flashing the JBroid cleaner or abyssnote kernel.
flash with PC ODIN for a safe retreat to GB

I used Mobile Odin Pro to flash LC2 and CF-Kernel from CF-LPY. No problem.

After flashing CF LPY Kernel, you need to flash AbyssNote 4.2 Kernel. after that REBOOT recovery

Shorter + safer guide:
1) Download Odin
2) Download stock GB firmware
3) Boot Note into Download mode
4) Flash firmware with Odin
5) ???
6) Profit.
Assuming you flash a rootable firmware, you can then root it and then install a custom firmware afterwards.
Flashing/wiping _anything_ from a LPx kernel has a chance of a superbrick. Use PC Odin go to back to a GB kernel.

congratulation, you're one of the lucky person
no its not luck.. PC odin is safe... they just have bad luck... lol...
ive been using PC Odin for almost 2 years... LOL
If it helps anyone..
I was on lpy stock no root.
I used pc odin and flashed one of the old kk9 roms. (single file no changes to the checkboxes).
After 1st boot there were lots of fc errors. (because it does not wipe the data) I booted in stock recovery and did a wipe cache and factory reset.
When it booted ok I did another factory reset from the privacy menu.
Finally I flashed the lc1 gb rom with pc odin (single file no changes to the check boxes)
I will stay on Lc1 untill the next official ics rom comes...
Call me a coward

How do I get the cm 10.1 kernel? without re-flashing cm 10.1 (i'm afriad it would wipe me again :C) I wanna try Trinity Four's kernel, (using matr1x atm)
Any help?
Download cm, extract the zip, find the boot.img, then flash it via fastboot using "fastboot flash boot boot.img"

You might run it to issues with using a different kernel without a fresh install.
Has to do with the ram disk that matr1x uses that would be different from trinity.
Make nandroid
Back up your apps and data re-flash your Rom flash a different kernel restore you apps.
A little more work now could save you a lot of effort later
Reflashing the ROM won't wipe anything by itself. Reflash, wipe cache/dalvik, you're back to stock kernel with all your data intact.

you should be fine just flashing trinity over your setup, as both kernels use anykernel. anyways, since you are on android 4.2.2, be sure to grab an android 4.2.2 trinity kernel, nit one meant for android 4.3. btw, reflashing your rom(gapps) without wiping data will not wipe anything. its called a dirty flash, its the only way i update my rom. and you dont have to wipe anything when flashing kernels.

i dont use cm, so cm might include a script to retain the gapps. i always reflash my gapps after a dirty rom flash, the rom that i use doesnt include such a script.
