And there will be no official 4.2
I think 4.2 and 4.2.1 have lots of nice new features (like the quick settings tiles in the notification bar) but under the hood, it's a gigantic piece of sh!t, it seems. I've never seen my NS4G chew through the battery so fast in my life!!! Leaving mobile data enabled is a sure death-sentence for the battery in a matter of hours, even if it's in sleep mode!!

Still early, it keeps getting better and better everyday! I am running DaxMax's Xylon 4.2.1 on my Galaxy Nexus and it is by far the best Android I have had to date! All this negative talk has a lot to do with certain Mod's and certain Gapps people are trying to run with 4.2.1 that breaks things and are not compatible. There is a lot of dirty flashing and ignorance contributing to this gossip about 4.2.1 being a disaster. The first time I flashed it I hated it and directly went back to 4.1.2 thinking I would wait til it is complete but the second time I flashed it I am convinced I will not be looking back!
I'm happy running 4.2... Its issues that were also common in 4.0/4.1 when they were first introduced. There are some great people working on it, so I imagine it'll get better soon.

EDIT: It's alive!! And it's working beautifully! I don't know what error it is you're talking about. This is nice!
Just a tip to fellow flashers though: you need to flash separate camera and keyboard zips (but only if you use gesture typing), and superSU. Other than that, solid man, just solid.

That was dropped eons ago though. fuzz used to maintain crespo cm7 if I'm not mistaken, and although gearhead could always be nice and maintain it, I don't believe there's any point.

I agree with this, but the amount of resources and testing at google's disposal far outweighs that of your average rom builder.
Not only that, but I'm positive that Google has specification and performance information on the phone's hardware that the average ROM developer will simply never have. I agree, custom ROMs are fun to play with, but for everyday use, you'll never beat a stock ROM.

I'm on kang 15 and steve.garons latest kernel. You and I have very different opinions of stable. Mine is top notch. No hiccups. If u want to wait, by all means, I was...then broke down and the current roms are fantastic.
It takes less than 5mins to root, make a backup, copy that backup yo PC, then unlock boot loader and flash a new rom. If u don't like it, there always that backup you can restore. Too easy to sit around and complain when there are alternatives
I'm always finding things that don't work on custom kernels and it drives me insane!! I'll try to show someone something cool, and it takes me 15 minutes just to get it working, then I just look stupid because the rom I have isn't compatible with ___, or it's missing ___ (fill in the blank)
Yeah, they are fun to play with, and it's nice to have the cool mods & tweaks that come with them, but when you want your phone to "just work" then there's nothing better than a nice stable official rom that does everything you throw at it. speed & extra performance is great, but stability and compatibility outweigh those every single time, imho

I find my self surround by multiple galaxy nexus owners daily and I am showing them stuff w my oG. Vice versa, just throwing it out there. I have been lucky when I have been flashing phones, many many manyphones hahaha. They all take well to me. I hate a screwed up glitchy phone

I know it's frowned upon to ask, but how likely are we going to see a build for the Tab 2 in the future?
Not trying to be rude or demanding or anything, I know it takes developers time to release new builds, but I simply am so excited for the vsync and triple buffering utilization. Google is paving the way for mobile OS technology while Apple sits in the corner throwing up the same old OS with one or two "new" features. That being said... I can't wait for 4.1

With CM9 almost fully functional, it shouldn't be overly difficult to make it work with Jelly Bean. My first build didn't boot, but I think it's a kernel/driver issue. Hopefully I can get more time this weekend and next week to get it booting.

How is that working for you lol? To test your utility I'm assuming?
I went back to NewSense for the last week or two, and will probably keep it for another week or two. It's been a while since I've been back on a Sense ROM, but I need to be on an older version of android for an app I'm working on for myself so I figured why not play with some Sense for a bit.

Umm...no...not really...
At first it was...then not
So basically, since about 3 weeks ago now, my phone will not give me S-OFF. Not manually, OR through my utility. I'm certain it's a hardware issue (there are other problems too) so I will be taking it to Sprint before the holiday's and then I will hopefully be back to making (and testing) my utility some more
Mostly Supreme Sense, and SensuAOSP_CM7 for Daily . Then whatever I'm testing out that's new.
I change mine a bit. Lately I've been working on a project I'm calling Stock Mod. basicly its Strapped365's latest OTA stock ROM. I've been using it as a tool to learn more about android.
Edit: and its been a lot of fun too!

Their not ROM specific bugs, so its no shot at any JB dev. But JellyBean CM is so freaking laggy its not funny. My shift is virtually unusable for me ( I use long press of home to do tons of multitasking ) and the lag when switching is worse than having to open each app again after I kill it. Facebook sucks for JB and I feel its cause Google is trying to phase it out, which is cool to me I hate Facebook and it gets me in tons of trouble. The camera is cool ( swipe to album ) but even that seems wonky as ever. All I want to know is what happened to making something that 'just works'? I think CM done got to far ahead worrying about the next device that they railed code for older devices...way to go!

The most pressing bugs are in the kernel so even if the ROM gets ported they will persist.
You can try flashing an old rom on the new kernel and see what happens.
Someone got Gingerbread with a Jelly Bean kernel running on his Nexus 7.
It's definitely possible, but will probably include some work.

Eh. I didn't like it. I had to RMA my tablet because the touchscreen was bein' cray.
But the interface of the rom? 10 points. Amazing. So fluent... it is a hybrid ROM that let's you use the tablet in tablet ui. And switch between stock, tablet, and phablet. I loved it.

The best thing to do is read the op for the pa rom and note the features it lists. All roms have their features listed to help you decide. Also, read other users comments within the thread to see what they are saying. It is all there waiting for you to read.
And for future reference, questions belong in the Q&A sub forum, not general.

Gotta disagree, as mods have gone on record stating that something such a that is outside of the scope of the Dev forum and against the rules. Replies in those threads are supposed to be limited to those relevant to development of the rom, such as bug reports. Asking a question of this nature in a Dev thread is only going to make it harder for folks to find relevant info in the thread.

I've been running PA on my N7 for a while now. Had 2.54 (the last 'stable' release) on my old 16GB and it was great. When I broke that one I got the 32GB and the first thing I flashed was PA 2.99 beta. Now running the 14-01-2013 beta build and for me its flawless. I love tablet UI and the ability to change the layout of individual apps and to set DPI to 160. PA Colours let's you choose custom colours for Nav bar, buttons etc. Its smooth and stable. Its like another device entirely. I even bought their Preferences Pro app to support the project and I'm eagerly awaiting P.A. 3
Combined with M-Kernel a30 and Trickster Mod I'm running at 1.9Ghz Max CPU and 600mhz GPU.
